Gender: 2
Race: Elf
Height: 5'9''
Age: several thousand years
Family: none
Animals: horse-Brethil (mahogany bay stallion)
Weapons: a bow and arrows and a dagger (sometimes a short sword)

Personality: Färynel is usually serious, not given to idle chatter. But she is very amiable and laughs freely when the occasion is right. She likes to converse and will not hesitate to make friends, but she is cautious when around those she isn’t very familiar with. When confronted, Färynel maintains her composure and usually won’t work herself into a rage. If pushed too far though, she will lash out. Her temper is prolonged in being provoked, and when it is brought forth, it is usually gone in a matter of minutes. Generally, Färynel is good-natured and is seen as someone almost anyone could get along with. She is skilled in battle and is a natural leader. Her appearance doesn’t indicate this much, but if faced with a tough situation, Färynel will take charge and come up with a solution. She is clever, and her tongue can be harsh. Honesty is her best quality, and even if the truth hurts, she will not lie (unless the situation deems it appropriate).

Appearance: Färynel has the typical build of an elf, slender but strong. Her looks indicate that she is at home in the forest. Her hair is chestnut brown, and her eyes are the color of leaves in summer. Often garbed in attire that isn’t out of home in the forest (green tunics, brown breeches, leather boots, and green cloaks), Färynel also carries a staff with her at all times. She has nothing distinguishable on her except a barely visible scar that runs just above the ridge of her eye, remnant of a past battle. Her dagger is carried in a sheath that fits over her back, and a bow with a quiver of arrows hangs over one shoulder. Her usual demeanor is calm and stoic, though Färynel has a ready smile.

History:

Färynel was originally born in Lothlorien about a hundred years before Arwen but was orphaned as a young elf when her parents were killed in battle. She was taken into the care of the elf Threliach who lived in a small glade at the outskirts of Mirkwood. She was taught the art of archery by him and learned about healing as well. Threliach had been a great archer among the ranks of Thranduil’s elves, but he had left for reasons of his own. When he came upon Färynel, pity filled his heart, and he had raised her as his kin. She was a quiet elven child but was given to laughter at the right time. Their solitude was perfect for them, but a restless streak came upon Färynel about three hundred years after she came to Threliach, and she left him to wander. Her travels took her around Middle-Earth, but she came to know the Greenwood better than most. She knows its ins and outs better than any tracker in Mirkwood but has never really set foot in Thranduil’s caves. Eventually she returned to Threliach and went with him when Thranduil enlisted her mentor’s help during the War. Färynel fought at Helm’s Deep under her own command. She was considered a good fighter and leader.

While her heart is still in Mirkwood (her surname Taurëiel means “daughter of the forest”), Färynel returned to Lorien as it was her birthplace after the War. Prior to the War, she had visited it many times and had become acquainted with Lady Galadriel. There was no real friendship there, more like a subject and a sovereign. Färynel feels loyalty to none, as she is considered a wanderer, but she would never go against any ruler. To this day, she still wanders, though Färynel consistently returns to Mirkwood (now called Eryn Lasgalen) and visits Threliach. Only her horse, Brethil, whom has been her companion for many years, accompanies her.
