Race: Human
Height: 6'0
Age: 27
Family: Unknown to him, but his guardian was named Fionas
Animals: A falcon named Elwing
Weapons: Longsword and some daggers

Personality: Hathën can get fairly aggressive and upset because of the past he now has to remember. He gets frustrated often when people do not respect nature or the world around him/those who live in it, regardless of the race. Otherwise, he is a very likable person. His fair features are known over the lands among men, and is well respected. He has the ability to be romantic and charming; and oft tries to be -- he is a great believer in the good treatment of women of all races. He practices his sword, and combat skills a lot yet prefers not to use them. He also loves riding, but prefers to walk, since he respects animals and all they do. Hathën communicates well with others, but he is a bit secluded, and tends to be on his own more often than not. It's not that he doesn't like people, but after leading and escorting many, he gets enough company during that period, and prefers to have time to himself when not working. Hathën is more the quiet type, but speaks up only when he feels it is right, and his morals are put to question. Though he does smile, and is often seen as neutral until someone approaches him and is then very polite and warm. Hathën believes in allies and fighting for good regardless of the circumstance. But still, all this could be analyzed as a mask -- as Hathën delves deep inside himself and the environment around him, trying to find out his bloodline and where he came from. As far as weaknesses go - Hathën cannot shoot a bow really to save his life, and cannot wield any magic of any kind -- having no one around skilled in those areas to teach him such things. Hathën is no good at leading, and would prefer to follow if anything, and be of use that way. He would never lead an army or lead anyone to freedom. He does not have the outward confidence nor heart for such a thing. Though seeming stable on the outside, Hathën has the capability to be emotionally unstable. His history plagues his mind daily and nightly; often causing nightmares, lack of appetite, and restless sleeps. He is growing slightly sicker as the years go by. If not discovered or his fear laid to rest, Hathën will most likely burn himself out before reaching old age. Another weakness, is women. He believes they are to be treasured and unhurt, emotionally or physically. If some harlot or witch was able to approach him, he would pretty much be helpless against them. In terms of strengths - Hathën is, as said above, a very accomplished sword fighter and rider. He is very determined, sometimes, making up for those who aren't. He likes to help people see their dreams come true, pushing aside his own. He's quite humble, and would rather put others ahead, rather than himself. This of course, allows some people to use and walk over him, but Hathën's composure and patients is well developed -- save when something he believes in is mistreated. He is physically strong and fit and is an excellent runner. Since he travels more often than not, Hathën has learned quite a bit of healing and how to treat wounds with little provision out in nature and on the road. He also has knowledge of the lands and safest paths, having escorted many nobles and other people.

Appearance: He's tall; around 6'1, and slender but very strong. His eyes are a deep brown color and his face is thin with high cheekbones. His hair is dark also and falls just before his shoulders; it's wavy and soft to the most point, but can get flatter and more scruffy when he sleeps on it and if he wears a war helmet. He is normally seen in some form of armor, but when alone and in the woodland areas, he prefers cloaks and comfortable tunics and breeches. He has leather boots that go to just below his knees and his breeches are black; hiding whatever past mud and blood stains he'd gathered. He has muscle, but is not beefy; he is slender. Hathën's skin is only lightly tanned from his many travels. He has some armour, which used to be a shiny gold color -- but is now tainted with black worn time. It is still reliable, and Hathën is rather fond of it now. He wears it whenever battle arises, and also when he should be meeting someone of importance; perhaps when escorting a lord or lady. But he doesn't exactly have the money to buy new armour. He has a thin chain mail shirt he wears most of the time when traveling and in tunics, vests, and cloaks. His nose is fairly straight and all his facial features seem well placed. Hathën is oft complimented on his features being fair for someone of the race of men. His smile is nice and he is often using it; straight teeth, and none missing as of yet. His eyes are fairly large and quite dark, though they tend to change with his mood. Oft at his side, is his sword.

History:

Hathën, was the son of Alistorn, a high lord of Rommanoth, and Lotrine – the daughter of Dymas, who became queen — was born in the Romanoth Valley. He was their second son, (the first being Halean). When Hathën was born, Lotrine had a terrible vision that she had given birth to a firebrand; her son would have some terrible fortune thrust upon him. When Alistorn learned of this dream, he sent for one of his dearest friends and advisors, Aesacus; for he was an interpreter of dreams. Aesacus advised that the child should be taken outside of Romanoth, left, and exposed to the elements of nature; forcing him to commune with that of the wilderness, and quell any sort of evil desires that may arise. This vision was kept secret — for magics and vision of this sort were frowned upon, and considered quite evil. The four; Alistorn, Lotrine, Aesacus, and Fionas held this secret with them, and vowed to get the child out, and keep the incident unknown to all. Finoas, servant to the family, was dispatched with Hathën to carry out the deed. Finoas took the child to the outer lands of Gondor, close to Firien Wood, and there, the child was nursed by the loving hand of nature for five days; learning to survive on his own from a young state.

When Finoas found the child safe after this time, though quite malnourished, he took the child back to his own small farm-home in Edoras, and raised him as his own — naming him Hathën, in memory of the father he would never know. The servant never returned to Romanoth while Hathën was in his care. He was quite astonished the child was still living after the time alone…but it is argued that a few elves had helped the child survive very gradually; using their grace to help him get by. He took it upon himself to raise the boy as he should be raised, and not within the environment of a fairly wealthy home. Finoas wanted to teach the boy morals and about conscious decisions, while letting him know there was fun to be had in life, as long as you respected those about you. He took to them very well. Hathën grew with lessons each day, some schooled some physical (sword or combat). He was fond of his guardian, but began to question where it was he came from, slowly realizing the two looked nothing alike, and there was no mother around as there should’ve been.

The time came where Finoas told Hathën all he knew about his previous parents (his masters) and what had come to pass at the time of his birth; the dream and prophecy. Hathën felt a little enraged at this, as well as abandoned and unloved for a time. Hathën was told never to mention this dream or vision to anyone, for it was considered evil. He would suffer because of it — and made Hathën swear secrecy on the spot. Over the next year, the bitterness grew within him, and he wondered if he would ever emerge from this shadow he’d surrounded himself in. But during the years leading to his manhood, around twenty two, he began to spend more time within the groves and woods around his home. He respected all-living creatures about the earth, and even began to plant some seeds, in attempt to start new life within the wood. He grew quite attached to all things which were green and good; nature and everything within. He felt something of a devotion to it…..an innate feeling; perhaps from his childhood. Slowly he grew to be a strong humble man as more years went by — practicing technique in combat. He also spends a lot of time in the wilderness, as well as studying maps in his room and memorizing them. He knew what he wanted to do. Hathën wanted to help others, and make up for his own years lost in seclusions from those his own age that might have been considered friends or companions. He wanted to desperately go to the cities and meet the people….

Hathën began to have much to look forward to. He started off on his own, leaving Fionas, but promising to come back on occasion and look after the old servant as he continued to age. He traveled the lands, and soon, was familiar with many people and places. He started his own sort of escort business; those of nobility, or any stature, could hire him to travel alongside them for protection, or even company. Though at times, it would be a mother and children, who looked as though money was a problem. In situations like these, Hathën would guide and protect them for free — his heart bigger than his greed. He grew to have a great respect and fondness for women, counting them just as capable as any man to do anything. Though he never had a female influence, Hathën is very polite and affectionate. That he never had, helped shaped who he is — having no ill opinion of women, since he hasn’t been around many and did not grow up with such an influence around. Fionas was kind, yet took to anger quickly — so Hathën created a mother in his mind, someone he could turn to, which was really like a conscious. Though if his mother’s vision is true…..he awaits a terrible fortune. When not working and on his own, he ponders about his life; afraid of what he might, do or what may happen with who he meets. He fears what he may become. Though alone, having no love and no real family he is aware of, Hathën is still able to commune with people he meets or passes. Hathën resides now in Edoras and Gondor most of the time, where his birth parents were rumored to have moved, lived, and possibly died. Of course, he has little memory of them, save a necklace that he’s had ever since he could remember. Finoas told him it was a gift from his mother, so Hathën kept it on always, believing it gave him some kind of protection. He travels often away from his home, and looks for ways to prove his quality and worth — put some meaning into his life, and help others gain meaning in theirs too. He fights for good, hoping to never have to succumb to the vision Finoas told him his mother had after his birth about him.
