Nellas, an Elf of Doriath, was appointed by Melian to watch over Túrin in his boyhood. It was she who taught him Sindarin and the ways of the Elves. Due to her teachings, Túrin became known by the folk of Nargothrond as Adanedhel, or 'Elf-man'.

Nellas was the only one who witnessed the assault upon Túrin which led to Saeros' accidental death, so Beleg brought her to Menegroth to bear witness in Túrin's trial. It was due to her testimony that Túrin received the forgiveness of King Thingol, though he had already fled from Doriath. He never saw Nellas again.
