Orophin was a Guard in the service of the March wardens in Lothlórien. His brothers were Haldir of Lórien and Rúmil of Lórien.
He met Frodo and the Fellowship shortly after they crossed the River Nimrodel. He was a Silvan Elf. Unlike their cousins in the east, the Silvan Elves of Lórien remained settled in their land throughout their known history. We know little of their lives there.
Little is known specifically about Orophin, but it is said that the Galadhrim dressed in shadowy-grey outfits and that they could not be seen among the tree-stems, unless they moved suddenly.
Orophin is believed to be the one who took the message from Elrond's messengers to Galadriel.
