Chief of the Ravens of the Lonely Mountain at the time of the Quest of Erebor. Son of Carc.
As told in The Hobbit, Roäc's father, Carc, had seen Smaug descend upon the mountain and had remained even after the Dwarves were driven away. Roäc was himself 153 years old when he met Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield during the Quest of Erebor.
It was Roäc who, fetched by a thrush, came to speak with Thorin Oakenshield. He told telling them that Smaug was dead. He also passed counsel between Thorin Oakenshield and Dáin II afterward, in preparation for the Battle of Five Armies.
