Manchester here and what do we do about organising more conventions in England.

I mean everyone else has stolen LOTR and they make a big fuss about it but we don't. Is it the English reserve or just the cost of travellling?

Anyone with any ideas let me know please.

I definitely think we need more conventions! We Brits are the original Tolkienites, aren't we? So why so few conventions?

if there were too many conventions theyd lose all meaning

you just missed one, The Fellowship Festival, i think its the only major one in the UK..

Hey fellow british people .. I'm the south east (not a very exciting part of the south east though )

Question for the Manchester boys and gals ... whats the name of the art gallery/museum near Forbidden planet ?, it was really good but I cannot remember what it was called.

I think you must mean The Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street, Manchester, MirkwoodsArcher. That's the main one.

It is a great gallery.

Hiya! im from Devon originally, grew up in the states (florida) and just recently came home. I'm in the Midlands now. Alsager, on the cheshire border near stoke on trent. there's another con in manchester next weekend but I'm still settleing so i prob wont make it there. is anyone going to the Fellowship festival this year? in May I think. I do plan on being at that one. Anyone else?
Oh, and its great to be back home again. In the real Middle Earth.

Hi... I'm in Sussex - I'm not English though, Scottish-Canadian...
I think Oxford is the only place that gets much in the way of Tolkien conventions...

if you guys who live in or around london are looking for a convention, the London Expo is on May 27th and 28th. It's mostly comics and anime and stuff but I went last October and there was loads of LOTR stuff too.

I Found a great looking event for anyone in this area who might be interested. Its in the Cotswalds in May. four days and looks like great fun.

Yesterday, while I was travelling, on vacation, throughout England with HappyHobbit, we stopped in Machester to meet with Morwenna and Roseariarelven for lunch. Afterwards we posed in front of a fountain in the City Hall Square, and a photo of this get together can be found here.
I had a great time and I know I'll look back on that meeting as one of the highlights of my trip.

I am in the Derbyshire Peak District, Taddington, high on a hill, half way between Buxton and Bakewell. I don't drive so don't get very far. I'd love to meet up. Our pub is struggling, but does a great log-fire!

I know how you feel.

I am in Devon, about 10 miles from a Cornish town called Bude, and about 40miles from Exeter and 27 miles from Barnstaple.

Haha, but I doubt you've ever heard of my town though. Holsworthy lol.

I almost lived in Eastbourne/Chichester though! I shouldn't have turned down the scholarship for Eastbourne college.
