"...his long white hair, his sweeping silver beard, and his broad shoulders, made him look like like some wise king of ancient legend. In his aged face under great snowy brows his dark eyes were set like coals that could leap suddenly into fire."
Sean Astin – Sam to the millions of LOTR-o-philes – could be eyeing a much-coveted precious: an Academy Award nomination and possible Oscar win, according to CNN!
I was kinda wondering what was with all the sudden articles on him in the news section, this explains it. Good for him.

He does deserve one… I can’t recall any other supporting character that was so vital to the main character as Sam is to Frodo, and Sean Astin played him with so much passion and intensity.

I don’t get the “supporting” thing. Why can’t he be nominated for best actor? He surely had as much screen time as Elijah Wood in RotK.
Anyway, go Sean!

Sean was AWESOME!! He definetly deserves a best supporting actor at LEAST. I remember going out of the movie theatre when I saw ROTK the first time going…”Sam, you are absolutely awesome.” Wow. GO SEAN ASTIN!!!!
