I actually read this while flipping through the Gazette this morning while sipping my tea – and it’s a good thing my tea wasn’t anywhere near my mouth when I saw the news. The hands went flying and I yelled: “YES!!!!!!! Howard Shore got the Grammy!!!!!” He seriously deserved it – and so much more. His score for FOTR and TTT are so beautiful and haunting and emotive and powerful… they are the only soundtracks that make me cry. I recently heard rumour that there might be a mega set of the LOTR score coming out once all three films are finished (as, ALL the music from ALL the films). If such a rumour is, in fact, true, I’ll be first in line.
GO HOWARD SHORE!!!!
So Shore’s peers in the music industry gave him what he so richly deserves, while the movie industry dissed him for an Academy Award nomination. Don’t worry, Howard, we all know who earned the Oscar, regardless of who takes it home.
I glad Howard Shore won!!!! He deserved it! His music makes me cry, and makes me feel like I’m in middle-earth w/ all of the characters. As soon as the movie was over, the music staied w/ me and I will always rember it.
I hope he will win more awards for the Lord of the Rings Sound Track!
oh dear! oh dear!!! I am SOO excited! I really am proud! His work is so great!! I agree, i cry during the soundtrack too! I really want our symphony orchestra to play this next year!!! :O) YAY!!!
ps- howard shore is my FAVORITE composer, and that says alot, because my other favorites are eric whitacre and frank tichelli, he’s just AWESOME!!! :O)
Yay! That’s so great! But it still doesn;t make up for the Oscar snub. Grrrrr
It is fantastic music. I think the soundtrack for TTT is even better. I would love to have a copy of the score including all of the vocal parts. It’s available but several hundred dollars. Oh, well….
