This is accually a pretty interesting article.. considering; I live in the area where the province is sold, and usually it doesn’t have very good stuff.. (mostly it’s geared towards younger people I.E. a lot of sports stuff and more pictures than text, and i’m saying that, and i’m 13 years old)
But please take note, this is just my opinion.
I agree! Very interesting article.
Especially when the author said that Billy should be up for an Oscar … I didn’t even think of him, and now I feel horrible about it. ^^;
See, I take a different view about this. It wasn’t that there weren’t any actors the deserved the award, it was that there were too many that did.
There were not any characters that could be clearly defined with the title of “lead” or “supporting” because there were just so many of them and they all had important roles. I think if they were going to give nominations to those in the movie that deserved it, most of those spots would be filled with ROTK cast. So, as a result, they did not give nominations to any of them.
That is just my thought though, and it works for me, so I’m sticking to it.
Sean Astin should’ve been up for supporting actor. He did an excellent job!!!
I don’t believe I am saying this (because I don’t like the oscars) but I agree with them not giving any nominations to the actors.
There were simply too many fantastic preformances to chose from. Who would you chose as the main actor, well there could be 3: Viggo, Elijah, or Ian. Or for supporting actor: Sean A., Billy, or Bernard. Now that is 6 actors that all deserved nominations.
Now the oscars are known for being political and tending to ‘play it safe’ which is why there hasn’t been a true fantasy movie that has won best picture. So instead of them actually chosing one, they didn’t chose any.
IMHO, the lack of nominations does not mean that their preformances did not deserve one, it is just the politic involved. My love of their preformance means more to me than if they win a piece of metal.
