This was the title given to dwarves who were killed in the Battle of Nanduhirion (Battle of Azanulbizar), because there were so many dead that it would cost the dwarves a fortune to bury them in proper dwarvish fashion. They were instead burned on many great pyres. Ancestors that carried this title were greatly revered among the dwarves.
