Made in Valinor, reputedly by Fëanor, these lamps shed a blue light from a flame secured in crystal. Neither wind nor water could quench them. Even the Noldor did not know the secret of their making.

One was carried by Gelmir who set Tuor on his way to Nevrast. Another was owned by Gwindor whom Beleg met as he searched for Turin in Taur-nu-Fuin, and by its light that Turin later saw that he had slain Beleg in error.
