'Wooden Whale' is the translation of the Elvish Turuphanto. It was also called Hirilondë, or 'Haven-finder'. It was the ship of Tar-Aldarion, first launched during the Spring of SA 877.

It sailed the Great Sea from Númenor to Middle-earth twice that we know of.

After the first voyage, the ships prow was adorned with a great jewelled eagle, bestowed upon Tar-Aldarion by his good friend Cirdan.
