Shandalar, promptly went to sleep, taking some precautions so not to burn his companions. He still had a bad feeling. Something was close and it was definetely not good.

(Sorry I haven't posted for a long time, hope you guys still want to do this)

Adaire sends Remus to keep watch. She then passes around some Lembas bread for her awake companions. "We will all need some rest before we leave in the morning."

Zaburzum woke refreshed. Something was different though. Yes, he did feel different. He wasn't starving like before. He stood and stretched and thought of Moria. It should only be about two more days journey if I make good time. His spirits were up and he wished to be off. He grabbed his belongings and headed to the opening of the cave. As his eyes adjusted to the light outside, his sense of smell detected an unusual sent in the air. He squinted as he peered around. Not seeing anything unusual he took off at a quick pace to the south. Out of the corner of his eye he thought he detected movement. He froze and waited, ready to grab his weapon if need be.

Tad pried his eye open as he felt movement in the cave, he seemed to think someone had covered the enterance or something, but it was only a cloud over the moon or something. He fell back asleep, exsausted.

Adaire tenses, sensing that something isn't right. She quickly sends out a mental link to find out. 'Uh-oh' she thinks. SHe quickly wakes her companions. "We have company." She is whispering. "Just outside."

Nenndil sat up immediatly, his hands straying to the sheathes on his back. Nardil in his left hand, and Nenndil in his right he stood up, and walked silently to the entrance. Looking back at his companions, he shrugged. The moon was not bright enough for him to see anything. Walking back, he whispered:

"Are you sure?" To Adaire.

Shandalar dared not open fire upon anything that was, not even to light the place. They would lose their element of surprise, or had they already lost it...?

The Orc still frozen stared into the distance. He inhaled deeply thru his nostrals and knew that there was definately some animal or other being close by. He patiently waited to know for sure which direction to go. Not knowing how many or if they were orc friends or not, he decided to stay his position for the moment.

Adaire nods, eyes closed. "Yes. Even Remus is afraid. We need to move quickly, or they will sense our presence. If they haven't already."

(The mental link is with Remus, by the way)

"Right." Nenndil said. He crept back to the entrance of the cave and waited for the others to join him.

Shandalar realized the mistake of coming to this area. He had been here before and found the scorch marks that were left last time. "We have to get out of here. Time is of the essen-" Shandalar's eyes lit up, fire seething and reaching for a target. His body started to shake and light up. The Orc could now see the group and vice versa. It was all over. Shandalar lost control and became something that he had always hated, fire.

Adaire throws out a hand to keep everyone away from Shandalar. "Careful," she whispers, gazing at the Orc. Her hand slips to one of her swords. "On my signal," she hisses, starting out of the cave in the shadows. "On my signal, come out in full attack."

Zaburzum wastes no time. He reaches for his scimitar and advances toward the group, counting their number as he goes. Not many, perhaps I can defeat them. His thought is punctuated by his snarling roar, which echoes against the rocks. "You will not see the light of another day!!!" His strong arms swing the scimitar as he attacks the nearest of the group. His focus on Adaire is suddenly halted by a burst of light. Fire was shooting directly from where Schandalar once stood, toward the orc. He quickly jumped out of the way but it still scorched the outer part of his knee and leg. His scream once again echoed on the rocks only now it was an agonizing scream.

Shandalar had lost it. Fire leaped and arced everywhere "protecting" Shandalar from anybody, whether their intent is good or bad. Adaire was also one of the first to learn of the exact distance they needed to stay away. Fire leaped and shot straight for Adaire and scorched her side just enough to leave a mark, but in no serious danger.

Shandalar, or what was once Shandalar, stopped his convulsing and growing. The being truned slowly and looked at each person in turn. Within the feiry depths of the inferno, they could see a face and a single word was uttered, "Help."

Nenndil caught the small plea and imediatly turned back to Shandalar.

"What can we do?" He asked desperatly, unsure how to act.

The Elemental took care of that question and started to move toward Nenndil. A voice that was not Shandalar's spoke from the flame, "You are mine." Its hands raised up to Nenndil's height and two gouts of flame shot straight out. Nenndil ducked the fire and rolled out of the way, but it still followed. No one was safe. It would not tire. It would not quit. They were doomed.

Zaburzum didn't wait to figure this fiery creature out. He fled as quickly as he could, ducking behind trees and rocks to dodge the onslaught. But he didn't move quickly enough. His arm and shoulder were suddenly scorched to the bone. His scream could be heard for miles around and even in the goblin caves of Moria. He was not quite dead yet but knew that unless he could get out of there miraculously, there would be no more Zaburzum the Snarling.

[nice. niiiiiice...]
As soon as he noticed fire, Tad leapt for the opening of the cave. Once outside, he put as much distance between himself and that .. thing. Moving unusually fast, he rolled, eventually ending up on his feet. Standing there, shielding his eyes from the glare of the fire elemental. He saw what looked like an orc run in - then out - of their field. He then saw the fire abberation lash out, and barely dodged a ray of fire, that would have taken him in the knee.
A roar from the orc heralded a hit, but he payed little attention, as all of his focus was on Shandalar. The remainder of his party scattered, running wherever they could - however they could.
Then, the tone of the sky changed - became lighter. He hadn't seen it coming, didn't notice the way all the stars had darkened. Turning his back to it: he fled. The red streaks of the sun stung him where his cloak wasn't thick enough - where he had too few layers of clothing. He made it by the slimmest of margins. By transforming in to a wolf- just before he reached the trees. He hoped nobody from his party noticed, but he cared more about his burning flesh.
Making it into the trees, his canine body sighed, and laid down to rest. Rolling slightly on the cool earth, Tad's reacclimated himself with his other side. It had been a long time since he danced with the wolves, or ate with this brothers, or flew in the pale moonlight. Too long in fact, and he roamed the dense forest, impervious the the distant sun.
Soon enough he smelled something - something fresh. Eating flesh didn't curb his hunger, but the thought pleased him, and if the victim was still alive ... well.
Morphing back into his native form, Tad noted the slightly burn back of his cloak, and reminded himself to pick up another one the next time he went of a Run. Climbing down a little gulge, Tad came closer and closer to the smell - closer and closer to food.
Throwing back his hood for a little dramatic flair (in the case his victim was human) he came upon the orc. Stunned slightly for a moment, he regarded this creation of flesh and bone. He marveled at it's complexity, and subtleness. Peering at it a little while longer, he dismissed it as dead- or at least unconcious. Approaching it slowly, he tasted the blood on his lips, felt his teeth sinking into its flesh. But before he could make the kill, the orc spoke.
It was in the orc's native toungue, of course, but Tad understood it. "Wait..." was the faint moan, "wait."

Zaburzum could feel a tongue licking what use to be his arm. He couldn't move as most of his life had left him. He was cold and dying. But he didn't exactly want to be supper for something or someone. He mumbled, "Wait" not much of the word actually escaped his lips so he repeated, "WAIT". He turned his head slightly as much as he could to get a better look. "I would cut out your heart and eat you myself if I could!" He was angry that his life could end like this. No! He must try to get away. He lifted himself with his good arm to try and stand. Suddenly the world was spinning, pain continually shot thru him and he fell again, only making it about 4 feet away from his original spot. "get away from me!" he shouted as his predator followed him seemingly waiting for all of the orcs energy to be gone so that he could stirke without a fight. Zaburzum attempted once more to get up but fell right back down and crawled slowly in the direction of the mountains. This is my end? he was angry that he couldn't make his body respond and escape this place.

[need catsup with that? ]
