"Oh not at all, not at all." Nathron said, barely controlling his laughter. "After all...being several...ages old one learns to take a good joke in stride." He said this, not looking at the man, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"No offense was taken good sir...I am curious, what is your name? Is it so secret that you can not tell us?" Nathron looked at the tree tender with a mix of curiousity and scrutiny. He didn't know if he could trust.

Ngelogas turned his attention from his old friend Larien and addressed the other, more irritating Elf "My name is Ngelogas Greentongue, and my name isn't a secret, just not common knowledge so don't feel obliged to keep a straight face" The Elf didn't seem to be amused by his rather rustic sense of humour.

He turned to Larien and the other female elf "so if you two are with this rather directionally confused buffoon i would be glad to escort or give you a rather short guided tour through these here by woods, i know them like the back of my left hand to be sure" The two elfin maidens thought up their answers to Ngelogas' rather colloquial offer.

Nathron did keep a straight face...but he was struggling to do so. This was pure war! A war of baits, and horrible comments thrown back and forth until the other gave in. He was loving this, even if he didn't show it.
"so if you two are with this rather directionally confused buffoon i would be glad to escort or give you a rather short guided tour through these here by woods, i know them like the back of my left hand to be sure"
"And you are probably right handed." Nathon murrmered loud enough for Ngelogas, and the others, to hear. The old elf felt like laughing aloud. But his own pride and dignaty kept him from doing so. But he was sorely tempted none the less.

"Of course you can join us. It would be nice to have another old friend on our journeys. And it will make the genders evenly matched," Larien said, looking at Nathron, Faenon, Earendil, and Ramo. "Anyone have any objections?" she said, looking meanicingly towards the others.

She had to admit, when she had left Lothlorien, she had had a small crush on Ngelogas. He knew so much of the trees and plants and healing. She had been there for three months, enough time for some feelings to develop, but she wasn't sure she wanted to tell him, and ruin their friendship. Besides, others in their company might get jealous, but she wouldn't know that, given she had just met them a few hours ago.
"So? What's it going to be? And keep in mind you would still be lost in the forest without my idea of travelling to Forodwaith, the Northern Waste."

"No objections whatsoever, Lady Larien." Nathron said...perhaps a little to cheerfully. He was trully going to enjoy this little adventure...of that he was certain.
"Lead the way and I shall follow, accompanied by Ngelogas it shall be an adventure for all to remember." He clapped the tree healer on the shoulder, hard enough to make the man stagger slightly. There was a grin in his eyes that had not been there before.

(sorry i been away so long. switched to aol. its been a bear)

Earendil had a hard time staying out of the exchange and also had hard time not smurking.

Now that every one seamed to be in agreement to moving Earendil spoke. "We still have some time before dark to night. If we are going to the north in search of adventure, then I vote that we leave now."

With that she went over to her mare and patted her on the neck and spoke softly, in the tongue of Rohan,"maybe this time we will actually get out of Rohan, my dear freind." Yes she speaks to her mare in Rohan. Then she slowly started moving toward the north.

Nathron's face returned to the blank, controlled, look he had worn when he had first arrived at the clearing. He looked to Earendil, who was intent on leaving.
"I believe you have my vote in that." He said in a matter-of-factly tone.
The old elf followed Earendil on foot for a short distance, then with the grace of a cat, leapt into the nearest tree, catching himself on a branch and pulling himself up. Nathron walked along that as easily as if it was a well-worn pathway through a city. Also knowing that it would anger Ngelogas to no end. Silently he walked, remarkably able to keep pace with the horse belonging to Earendil, lost in thought. He was not going to let his guard down so easily again, and he chastised himself for letting it down in the first place.
He pulled the hood of his red-ocre cape down over his red hair, the dark red blending in with the back ground of the trees. He let himself remain visable to the others only enough so that they would be aware of his presence, no more then that, and no less. Caution he would upkeep around anyone and everyone.

Faenon had listened to the conversations a bit sceptically. But now he was happy that the adventure began. He nearly got crazy standing there and doing nothing else than talking.

He didn't say a word. Slowly he followed the group. At first he went behind them all, watching one after another. Then Faenon decided to join the Elf in front of them.

He walked a bit faster and finally reached Nathron. After a short time he broke the silence and said: "You seem to be in deep thoughts, am I right?! What are you thinking about?!"

Nathron watched observidly as the rest of the group fell into line. He was curious about the people in it, but he would not let it get the better of him, everything in its own time would come.
He heard the footsteps of the human male, Faenon, approaching. He made no comment as the man came up alongside himself. He had not much to say, nor did he know what to talk about for he had been absent from any human, or any contact for that matter, for quite some time.
"You seem to be in deep thoughts, am I right?! What are you thinking about?!"

Nathron looked at Faenon, his green eyes searching the man's face for any trace of threat...he found none. "I was thinking about nothing in particular, though perhaps I was considering the situation I seem to have found myself in. I have long been away from any company of people...so it is strange to find myself again amidst them." He smiled slightly, "Not that I do not welcome the company...no it is merely a curiosity for me to understand." He slowed his pace to make it easier for the human, for he knew that he walked with great speed.

Earendil was glad that the group was moving.

She kept her mare at a walking pace. She was alert to those who were walking, but none of them seamed to be haveing difficulty so she let things go.

She was not shocked at the elf going into the trees she knew that some elves were very comfortable in trees.

This was an odd mix of elves and humans, hopefully they would have time to get to know one another before fighting was needed.

That is seldom the way thing to but...

Dusk had fallen. The group had just left Rohan, and were now on the outskirts of Fangorn. The trees were whispering, their leaves flew in the breeze, and Larien felt slightly uncomfortable. Someone crept up behind her, she sensed them, and, preoccupied by her unsettling thoughts, drew her bow lightening fast and aimed an arrow in his face. It was Nathron.

Durhen walked on, gaining speed slightly, and almost over taking Larien. What stopped him was the arrow pointed at his face. He looked up at her curiously, he had little doubt that he could move away from it should he need to, but still...it was not something he enjoyed. His green eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Lady Larien, I ask you what I have done to warrent such...attention." His melodic voice was chilly.

(aren't u Nathron?)

Startled, Larien saw it was Nathron, and lowered her bow.
"You have done nothing. The forest does not sleep, and nor do I. There is an evil around. I can sense it. Please forgive me for ambushing you. My body and all of my senses are on guard, and I was protecting myself. My apologies." She bowed her head, and looked sheepishly at the ground. Nathron cupped her chin with his hand and brought her head back up. Larien saw forgiveness in his eyes, along with the likeness of friendship. She smiled, and immediately felt safer, realizing that they all were able to care for themselves, and she stopped worrying. She walked to her bedroll, and tried to fall asleep.

OOC: Oops, silly me!

IC: Nathron relaxed a margin.
"You have done nothing. The forest does not sleep, and nor do I. There is an evil around. I can sense it. Please forgive me for ambushing you. My body and all of my senses are on guard, and I was protecting myself. My apologies."

Nathron cupped her chin gently, bringing her head up, and looking her dead in the eye.
"There is nothing to forgive. I can understand your actions." He gave her a crooked sort of smile. And watched her as she went to her bed. Nathron walked up to the nearest tree, out of habit climbing into it to sleep. But he stayed awake for most of the night, just listening, watching.

Dawn came, and the group continued through the forest. Larien could still sense the evil around her, and kept her arrow notched in her bow. Suddenly she heard a patter through the leaves. And she knew it wasn't anyone around her, for they had all stopped.
"Did you all hear that?" she asked. They nodded silently. Nathron crept silently through the trees, looking below him. Faenon and Ngelogas instinctly went for their sword/bow, and tried to surround the women. Larien pushed Faenon's arm away to make room for her bow, and she saw Earendil and Ramo come forward with their weapons drawn. Something was coming.

At the sound Nathron immediately woke. He drew a slender dagger, placing it between his teeth so that he would have both hands to hold the tree. He could not make out what it was, he crouched down on a branch, his eyes darting about him, looking for the creature that had startled the goup.
"Did you all hear that?"

Nathron nodded, and signed to her to hold their position. He crept forward silently, seeming to blend in to the tree. There was a rustle again up ahead of him, on a lower branch. And he crept towards it taking his dagger in hand, by its hilt.

Earendil had been nervous from the moment they had came into the forest. She had heard many tales about fangorn.

The second day she mounted Hyldo and kept her bow in her hand and an arrow at the ready.

She was tired and jumpy. then she heard.

"Did you all hear that?"

She turned to face what ever was coming and put the arrow on string, not taking any chances.

There was a rustling and in a few seconds there was no doubt that at least 2 things were coming along after them.

Then the sound stopped. Now there was silence.

What ever it was was just behind the tree. Earendil Pulled the string on athe bow taunt amd waited.

All of a sudden creatures burst out of the trees and started attacking them. Larien didn't know what they were, but she just started firing her bow, sensing her companions doing the same. When all of them were dead or wounded, one of the men shouted out, "They were...."

Earendil saw the 2 creatures take serveral well placed arrows and they still did not fall. Finally they did.

They were dead now. One had finally run off with several arrows in it.

They were larger then normal orc's and they did not die or scare as easily as orcs but something about them that did remind her of orcs.

To the best of her knowledge she had never seen the like before.

Earendil spoke softly, "I do not believe these things are native. I have not seen them before."

OOC: Finally this is back! Lets hope it stays! Are these Isenguard orcs?

IC: Nathron jumped down from the tree, quiet as a cat, examining the two dead creatures. He silently observed them, they did appear dead; but it had taken so long to bring them down.
Both had one identifying marking...a white hand, imprinted on their flesh.
"They're orc's alright. But they seem to have been cross-bread with another race...maybe humans, I don't know." He shrugged and stood, looking about warily.

Nathron shuddered at the stench of the dead orcs, figuring it best that he get up into the trees, to keep lookout if nothing else. He kept himself at a low branch, allowing himself to be seen by his companions, he knew that this would be the best spot to aide his companions should they need him.
"I suggest that tonight we place a guard about. To change at three hour intervals." Nathron suggested, turning to is companions. "It would not be good to have any more of those coming up upon us as we sleep."

(unless there is some objection I was kind of thinking of those yeah)

Earendil frowned at the large bodies. Then she spoke softly, "these do not die easily, let us hope there are not more of them about. I suggest we move on so if there are more, they do not know were we are as readily."

Earendil mounted her mare and waited for the rest of the group to get ready to move.

"these do not die easily, let us hope there are not more of them about. I suggest we move on so if there are more, they do not know were we are as readily." Larien couldn't believe what she was hearing. Move on? She was about to collapse.
"Why should we keep moving? We were just in battle! On one side, we should move on, because there could be more of these 'things'. On the other side, we are all tired and worn from battle, and should rest. We could move on a bit further into the forest, but then I must insist we rest!" Larien could not contain herself. She heard mutters of agreement throughout the group, although Earendil and Faenon did not look pleased. Nathron was smiling at her, apparently he liked her thinking. These "orcs" for lack of a better word, seemed as if they were only a guard; to expect more about would be foolish. There could be more, but Larien appreciated Nathron's proposal, rest now, but keep a guard in three hour intervals. That way, everyone could rest, and everyone would still be prepared.
"Earendil, since you are the one who feels best to move on, why don't you lead us further on, and be the first to guard while we rest?" Larien offered. "I will be third, as I am tired, but not so tired as to be last to guard. Anyone have objections or opinions?"

Nathron nodded his approval, smiling at Larien. He agreed, they all needed rest. He sighed and pulled his hood off, rubbing a slender hand across his brow. He leaned against the nearest tree for support.
Even though he had not fought, he was worried that these new orcs would prove to be to much for this small band. When he heard that Larien was going to take the third position in the line he nodded his approval.
"I will take the rear-guard. I am not so tired, and can easily keep up with you."

Earendil lead the way slowly along the path. This was not the same one that the 'orcs' had left by so with a little luck they would be putting more distance between any others of them in the area.

Earendil knew that even to go a mile or two would be good.

So after about a mile and a half there was a small clearing.

Then she dismounted and waited the few minutes it took for the rest to get into the clearing.

She spoke, "I suggest the tired get some sleep. I have no problem walking guard for a few hours. I will quietly put things in order for a fire and food later.."

Then she took her bed roll off her mare and put it down. Then she walked around the clearing looking and listening off the the distance for anything to come along.

Over the course of her watch she took enough time to rub down her mare and make sure she was content.

She also gathered wood and put it at the ready for a fire.

Nathron had followed silently, his footsteps making no sound as he travelled over the branches. When Earendil called for a rest, he silently agreed. Though not often tired, he felt a little weariness decend upon his old limbs. He smiled softly to himself.
He did not set up a camp, he had nothing, as he preffered to sleep on the ground, or in the trees. And he was not so tired that he could sleep easy. Instead he sat up in a tree, watching Earendil silently, as she went about her tasks. He wrapped his arms about himself, coincedentaly Nathron had never had need for a warm blanket, but he felt oddly chilled that night. He didn't like it. For no wind stirred the leaves, and it was not so cold, even by human standards.
He got up and paced back and forth along the branch, restless.

As Earendil kept her watch she noticed that Nathron seamed a bit restless. After watching him pace a while she climbed easily up to the branch and waited for his paceing to bring him back to in front of her.

Earendil spoke softly after all there was no need to have the whole camp hear. "is there something that you need or some concern that I may be able help with? I am good listener and have sean a few things."

Nathron had stopped pacing upon noticing that Earendil was on his branch. He bowed slightly to her, acnknoledging her presence. He found himself to be a little un nerrved, for he hadn't even noticed that she had been there.
"is there something that you need or some concern that I may be able help with? I am good listener and have sean a few things."

Nathron smiled gently, "I am fine, Earendil, I am just...well, I keep feeling like we are being watched. Now that might just be my own paranoia, but I have a suspicion that I might just be right. No matter. And as for the pacing...I will cease if it troubles you, I know that it is a bad habit I picked up." he smiled broadly, trying to ease Earendil's concerns, she was so young, she would not understand the deapth of his uncertainties around groups of people.

Larien noticed how uptight and nervous everyone was, but she didn't understand why. After the attack, it seemed doubtful to have another battle so soon. It was understandable to be wary, but they were taking it so far! Faenon's hands were shaking! Larien shook her head, and decided to be on her guard, but she didn't expect an attack. She hadn't been brought up to be nervous and anxious for things to happen. If they happened, they happened, and if not, then no problem. She learned not to expect things to happen. Her mother and father, when they were alive, had taught her to worry about the present, so she didn't care. Still, it was smart to be cautious, after the attack that had just happened. As she watched Earendil and Nathron discussing things, she stretched her arms, bending towards her back, trying to become more flexible, so she could grab her bow and arrows faster. Not that she couldn't be fast already, but it didn't hurt to be careful.

Earendil listened well, her words still kept soften to be sure no one else would hear them. "Nathron, I understand being conserned for other, but we are a good sized group with many fighters. If need be I myself am pretty handy with my bow, even though it is not nearly as precise as the Lorien one of my fathers, that I wore out. As for the feeling of being watched I understand that well, even among 'freinds' I often feel watched. So in this group I feel as if my every move is being watched and judged. Plus I am not delighted that one of those creatures got away. If it had any inteligence there is no telling what could come of its escape."

Earendil paused, she knew if this elf thought about how her father got a lorien bow he might look closer at her, and look beyond the Rohonic clothes to the blond hair and small deicate features, small siize with ears well undercover might have him leaping to conclusions and Earendil did not know him nearly well enough for that. Hopely even if he suspected things were not as they seamed he sould keep his suspisions to himself. Though maybe as an elf he would understand her better then he adopted rohonic father even had.

(if I messed up on Nathron race let me know somehow I got the impression that he was an elf, a bit confused perhaps but anelf none the less)

OOC: He's totally an elf you got it right

IC: Nathron nodded, thinking on her words. Perhaps she was right, he had been rather uptight these days, he had rarely travelled with large groups, and so he was learning to cope with the proximity of others.
"You are what you say you are, very good with the bow, from Laurelindoreanan (Lothlorien), it appears to have been made. Though I have always been under the impression that the people of Rohan have been skitterish of that fair land. Perhaps you could tell me how you came by it." It was not a request, and Nathron had a irking suspicion that Earendil was not all she appeared, three ages of travel and learning had taught him that, but even so he couldn't quite place her. Perhaps she would come out on her own.

( sorry for the comfusion to you Earendil mentioned her old lorien bow but currently carries a rohon bow)

Earendil smiled slighlty, "yes, i miss my lorien bow. This rohon made one from my adopted father is a poor substitute but it funtions."

There was very deep sadness in Earendil's eyes. Then she sighed, then she took another step closer to Nathron looking around to make sure no one was close enough to hear, lowering her voice even further.

"My father was a Lorien elf, it was his. Most poeple accept me as human I try not to upset them"

Then she back off a step and looked around not able to look at him. She was close to tears. She took a deep shakey breath trying to get her emotioms under some control.

Nathron listened quietly, then paused, thinking. So she was a half elf. He should have known. But he did not find it all out of place, nor did he have any resentment.
"My father was a Lorien elf, it was his. Most poeple accept me as human I try not to upset them"

Nathron saw her distress, though she tried to hide it. He silently came up behind her and put a comforting hand on her shoulder, albiet reluctantly, he was never sure of himself around people.
"You have not upset me, Earendil. Fear not, if you wish for me to keep this a secret I shall. But you should be proud of your heritage...on both sides." He smiled at her gently, he spoke from the heart. "Come, do not weep." He brushed away a stray tear. "Life is to short for tears."

Earendil sighed, it would be even harded to not cry now. But she slowly took a deep breath, she voice still soft, looking aournd again to ensure privacy, "I know, but I have cried many tears in the 75 years i have been in Rohan, many of them from being elven. Rejected by humans and no way to get back to the elves."

She was trying with all her elven will to push the tears down but was not sure if she would succeed or not. Her true history, the reason why she keeps her sword and 2 dagers out of site, they were her fathers. Never before had anyone accepted her elven blood not in 75 years.

Before when she reached the piont of speaking then the back lash came, the anger, then she could get angry back and use that to push back the taers till she was alone. But Nathron had accepted, now she was lost. The tears while not falling freely, were so close. Seh looked around hoping to find a way to go off by herself. Unfortunely there was a large build of unshed tears in her eyes and she wasnt seeing real straight or well.

THen she spoke again the emotions were about to break loose. "i know your right and i am sorry for being so emotional with you. I dont know you and i came up here hoping to help you and now look at me."

She sighed agian trying to get a firmer hold on her emotions, "My mother and father would both be very disappointed in me right now, may the valor have their souls"

Earendil reached out grabed a hold of the tree. Speaking so would not help her get control of her emotions. She was lost. Keeping from a major break down by a thread. Why couldnt she get upset or angry anything but this sadness.

(sorry minstral in case you didnt figure it out Earendil is rather messed up and very lonely)

OOC: Its ok My character's a sucker for a hard case

IC: Nathron listened patiently, he had never himself endured such persecution. He barely remembered his own parents as he had never had the strongest bond with them.
"i know your right and i am sorry for being so emotional with you. I dont know you and i came up here hoping to help you and now look at me."

Nathron just shook his head, a small smile on his lips. "There is nothing to forgive." He said quietly, he pulled her into a comforting embrace. Even though warry of people, Nathron had a keen sense for when someone needed a friend. And right now, Earendil needed that friend.
