As I can really neither dance nor sing, I think I'd better go with "neither!"

Would you rather dance in the Goblin Caves in the Misty Mountains or sing in Smaug's Lair in Erebor?

Before Sauron's downfall in 3019 TA (1419 SR) definitely in Elrond's Last Homely House.

Taking tons of details behind what happened in the battles each was involved in as given, I would use an approach that is overly simplistic in a sense: Aragorn survived his confrontation with Sauron, while Gil-galad, who admittedly had far more confrontations with Sauron over a much longer period, ultimately did not. So, Aragorn.

Would you rather discuss herb-lore with Merry or with Radagast?

With Bilbo and Frodo. They were accompanied by Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel, at the least, while nobody knows who accompanied Gimli and Legolas.

Sport hunting, neither. Food hunting, Legolas. He is certainly the better archer (ask that Nazgûl who had his fell beast shot out from under him near the rapids of Sarn Gebir).

Young whippersnappers though they may be in SR 1418 to varying degrees compared to me, Merry and Pippin, especially the latter, give me the impression of being potential smombies should they be transferred to our weird age. And Sam, forget Frodo, is rumored to be an excellent cook ...
