Welcome to the Council of Elrond!

“…You have come and are here met, in this very nick of time, by chance as it may seem. Yet it is not so. Believe rather that it is so ordered that we, who sit here, and none others, must now find counsel for the peril of the world.”

Welcome to the Council of Elrond! You have stumbled upon one of the largest resource sites on the web offering a variety of unique features based on the creative works of J.R.R. Tolkien, including The Lord of the Rings. Come on in and register, then jump in and get involved. If you are looking for tons of quality images, feel free to visit our Gallery. We also have a forum if you’re interested in serious discussion, drooling over your favorite characters, or roleplaying with other site members. Other sections of the site, such as the Languages section, Elrond’s Library, and the Encyclopedia offer opportunities to learn more about the worlds and cultures that Tolkien created. Of course, there is more on this site than we can mention here, so feel free to jump right in, and experience one of the best Tolkien sites on the net.

Ian McKellen adds his thoughts on The Hobbit film

In his e-journal, Ian McKellen adds his thoughts about the issues surrounding The Hobbit film, saying that he finds it hard to imagine that any other director could match Peter Jackson’s Tolkien-esque achievements, and that he hopes New Line, MGM and Wingnut can resolve their differences, and sooner rather than later.

He also said that he was “very sad as I should have relished re-visiting Middle Earth with Peter again as team-leader”.

Want to ask New Line to use PJ to film the Hobbit?

If you are one of the many Ringers who feels that Peter Jackson is the director best qualified to direct The Hobbit, please contact New Line and remind them that we, the fans, are the ones that are going to be putting the most money in their pockets at the end of the day. It was the LotR fandom that made Lord of the Rings the online phenomenon that it is today, so let your voice be heard. The link to contact New Line can be found here.

Is it definitely the end of the road for PJ and The Hobbit?

Peter Jackson will not be making ‘The Hobbit’ movies

In an email to TORn Peter Jackson explains his legal dispute with New Line and how he has been told, ” New Line would no longer be requiring our services on the Hobbit and the LOTR ‘prequel’… the studio was now actively looking to hire another filmmaker for both projects.”
