The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age – Update

A big update for The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age at Gamespot.com, a new preview, talks about the four main characters you’ll be able to play and their abilities. There is a video which shows the concept art of the game and four pages of new screencaps. The game is scheduled to be released on November 2nd, 2004.

LotR : The Battle for Middle-earth – The Armies of Isengard – part 2

Part 2 of LotR : The Battle for Middle-earth – The Armies of Isengard at IGN.com discusses the buildings of Isengard that will feature in EA’s forthcoming game. These include the Tower of Orthanc and the Isengard Armory. There’s also a great video on Isengard strategy which you can view here.

Understanding Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings

On 22nd September Michael Drout, Associate Professor of English at Wheaton College, will present a programme entitled, “Understanding J R R Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings”. The event will take place at 7pm at Mansfield public library, US. There are further details here.

Time Warner no longer in the running to buy MGM

Bloomberg.com reports that having failed to reach an agreement on the price of the film studio, Time Warner has withdrawn their bid for MGM.

It had been hoped that a deal between Time Warner, who owns New Line Cinema, and MGM, who owns the film rights to The Hobbit, would pave the way for Peter Jackson to make a movie version of The Hobbit.
