Isilmo was the younger son of King Tar-Súrion and brother of Tar-Telperiën, the second of the Ruling Queens of Númenor. Since Tar-Telperiën had no husband, and so no children, it was Isilmo's son who succeeded her and ruled the kingdom as Tar-Minastir.
