What do you think was the saddest part of Fellowship of the Ring?!??! I think the saddest is when Frodo and Sam were in the boat and Sam is talking about the promise he has with Frodo, while the flute like insturment is playing. Its just so sad!

hi good board idea
i think that the sadest part is when Aragorn is talking with Boramir as he is dying and then Gimli and Legolas come running up and Legolas gets a cute sad look on his face. sad sad part
good tho but sad

Either Frodo on the shores of the Anduin or Boromir's death. One of those two. Or when Gandalf fell. I dunno, I can't decide.

Hard to choose.

Is it my imagination or is there a scene in one of the appendices of TTT, that isn't quite the same in the actual film? David Wenham is talking about Faramir, and it cuts to the scene where Boromir and Denehor are hugging. The camera then lingers on Faramir's expression which could break your heart. When I looked at the scene on the actual film disc, it didn't seem the same - it didn't linger on Faramir as much.

But if I had to choose just one bit it would be Frodo's "naked in the dark" speech and preceding/following moments.

Frodo on the riverbank, knowing he has to go but not wanting to take a friend into danger and certain death.

i think the first tim ei saw FotR, and each time after i basically start crying when Gandalf falls and don't stop because of things like Boromir's "my brother my captain my king" (kills me) and ofcourse the "don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee..." scene in the boat

*sniffles* I always get sooo teary on that part

"I made a promise, Mr Frodo, a promise! 'Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee' - and I don't mean to, I don't mean to."

*breaks down in tears*

This thread is the saddest moment from Fellowship, not the trilogy.

Well that'll teach me not to post when I've just got out of bed....

After Moria, when the hobbits are crying.

Sam with his boat speech at the end. Shorter than usual, but at least every film had a SamSpeech.

And Frodo - "I will take it.....".

Boromir's death, and especially the scene where Aragorn is bending over him.

When Gandalf falls, and Frodo's screaming and Aragorn has to carry him away...so sad! And when Sam almost drowns, and is in the boat, talking about the promise he made to Gandalf.

The saddest part for me is the look that frodo gives when he turns back to the camera when Aragorn is trying to get them all away from the mountains after Gandalf falls. He looks so lost and hope -less, it sets me off everytime i see it

Let's see.
1)When Gandalf fell, and Frodo was screaming and Boromir had to pull him away and Aragorn was just completely in shock.
2)"I made a promise. Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee. And I don't mean to" that was a great thing
3) Boromirs death scene

I do agree with what the rest of you have already said (Amon Hen, Dimrill Dale, etc.). However, you seem to have left out on of my favourite sniffly moments! When Aragorn goes over to talk to Boromir in Lothlorien, and Boromir makes that heartbreaking speech about restoring the glory of Gondor... Ah, that was the moment when I became a true Boromir fan. I just want to cry and give him a hug.

Yea Snowystingray that was a great moment and before I saw Return of the King and The Two Towers extend edition, I thought Borimir was a mean man, who was all stuck up and obsessed with the ring. But then when I saw TTT ee and Rotk I relized he was just trying to get the ring for his city and it wasnt his fault that he was snobby it was his father's.

The saddest part was the rest of the movie after (and including) Boromir's death. The waterworks just don't stop after that!

Actually, it was Boromir who was holding Frodo while Gandalf fell; and then carried Frodo away from the bridge and Gandalf's fall. Aragorn wasn't carrying any hobbits at that point....

Probably when Sam is running to find Frodo, and Frodo is staring at the Ring & the river, then jumps in the boat, and Sam goes after him even though he can't swim.

I think...Boromir's Death was the saddest part. I cried so much...he is one of my favorite characters. Gandalf's "death" wasn't sad to me...because I knew what was going to happen.

My heart was broken when the first arrow shot on Boromir's breast. (No....)

Exactly! Moreover, when Frodo dropped down from the tentacle of Watcher in the Water at the Gate of Moria, that was Boromir who caught him savely. And you can find that Boromir always protected Hobbits no matter during fighting or while traveling!

I think the saddest part for me either was when Frodo and Aragon split up and Aragon said:
"I would have gone with you to the end into the very fires or Morodor."

Boromir's death was so sad! I thought it was so sad when Sam wants to go with Frodo, but he doesn't want him too. When Gandalf dies is also really sad too.
