Velian, I guess after nearly a year it's too late to ask that they change your name, huh?

You can get your name changed can you? I've been looking in the dictionaries on here and I want to change mine... Dúvenêlien sounds so much more romantic (and Tolkienesque) than Ez.

Ok, confusion time! Angloth is now Macilwen??? And still of the Noldor?
I am Mithelril, son of Angrod, son of Finarfin, son of Finwë. So we are distant kin. You MUST be an elf, with all those aliases! Almost as bad as Aragorn!

Yes. I have now taken up a different title. I am Macilwen, daughter of Maglor, son of Feanor, son of Finwe.

lol so I guess we are some sort of cousins or something...interesting!

Mithelril, where did you get that avatar? I've been searching for a Southern Cross but I couldn't find any I liked. This was the clearest one, but it's really not all that nice.

This is Ez, with my lovely new Elvish name. Isn't it pretty? It means "girl of the southern stars". That's why I had a southern cross avatar for a minute or two.

Well, for those of you that have read The Sil, I guess you'll all know what my name means.... It's quenya for Lonely, and is found in the geographic name Tol Eressëa (The Lonely Isle), it was the isle "sailed" the Elves to Valinor in the first place and some of the Teleri lived there for a long time...

Thanks for those, Mithelril. Neither is actually the Southern Cross though, it's shaped wrongly and missing a star. But I did manage to find a Southern Cross picture you can actually see! Yay!

"laer" means summer in sindarin, but what "ith" means i don´t know.
I usually use name "Arenel" and i want that everyone calls me Arenel.
"Aranel" means princess, but i changed it little cause i´m not princess.

My name means:
tar- high
kena- couldn't find it so the closest I found is
kemen- earth
strange....
high earth...
Oh well. I entered my name (skye) on one of those things, and it came up with
pengolwen- can't find anything
penistui-again, nothing
istuiben- nothing!

another one said
Isiliwen Telcontar meaning
Isil- moon in Quenya, Wen-maiden
Tel-finish, end, be last in Teleri, Con-I can't find, Tar-high
so
Moonmaiden End something High
Isn't that cool?
tarkena

Oh and In Rohirric:
Forleaswyn-something High
Guess i must be some kind-of queen or something

Well, I have two, I just don't use them here. One I got from the Barrow-downs, and it's Telpealatael, translated (using the glossary in the back of the Silmarillion) telpe=silver, alata=radiance, el=star[translated from Quenya]. So Star of Radiant Silver or Radiant Silver Star. Not quite accurate. My second one Celebel (celeb=star[in Sindarin]), simply translated either Silver Star or Star of Silver, oddly enough, and I made that one before I broke down the one from the Barrow-downs. I thought it was weird how they both came out so similar without me even knowing it until a few months later. (I couldn't find the "telpe" or "alata" references until I read the entry on Galadriel's name in the Silmarillion under "kal-(gal-)".

It's really weird when you consider that I practically have the same name in each language. Haha.

Mine is just a name the Barrow-downs name generator just flung at me, when I typed in 'Bright Blue Star'. I just wanted to see what it said...I'm innocent! And on my roleplay character, Nuelda Eruwaedh, it's kinda different. Nuelda is just a pretty little name and Eruwaedh is Sindarin for 'Elizabeth', my middle name and the last name of her dead husband-to-be.
So, all of my RP characters have something to do with my name or something! :rolling: *sings* It's a small world, after all!

Aranel is Sindarin for Princess, Carnesir is Sindarin for Red River which is a River that flows from the Iron Mountain in Middle Earth, what is missing is the first name of my character Ariel (the keeper of the sun in Elvish Myth) Silith which means Silvery in Sindarin.

Hey Mithelril.....guess what! I'm Nyereven, formerly known as Macilwen, formerly known as Angloth!

Yeah I know- another title! I had problems so yeah I had to create a new account and get Macie deleted.

I'm not the best at elvish but it should mean something like "Maiden of Sorrow" as Nyere is sorrow and ven is maiden.

I don't use my elvish name here, but it is Erfredir

Er- =the prefix for alone
fredir= hunter

So it would be the alone hunter, or simply lone hunter (it is sindarin). I just thought it sounded pretty cool, and it fits me a bit seeing how i do many things alone, not to mention just being alone.

My name translates as "Star of my Heart's devotion".

Well, okay, not exactly... A few of those words are implied. Literally translated, it's "Star Heart Devotion". It was one of my first attempts at translating anything

My name is Elvish (Sin. or Q. I have no idea) for a common name in English.

I'll give you a hint. Silivrentolwen means, "of the white island."
See if you know what common English name that is. Another hint-- ENGLISH!!!!!!!

OK I don't use the elven name given to me many years ago...

It is Cathrea-Ana Maia Taur en Tesarie
from Cathrea - Tresure and Ana - gift...
my sirname being Leslie-Faye was translated as - of the Maiar
Taur - wood or forest and Tesarie - willow.

In the SCA I am Catriona Le'Faye of Willow Wood....
because they don't alow Elven names...
Catriona from the Scots Gaelic for Catherine...
Oh and they almost didn't allow Le Faye until I mentioned that
it was a contraction of Leslie-Faye and they made a copy of my
ID to go with the application and they asked where the willows were.
The willow trees were in my backyard.
The hoops I had to go through just to have my own name sheesh...

I go by Vicarcat...
from the title I hold in church Vicar and my nicname of Cat.
I thought that would be less trouble...

Sigh I rambled a bit didn't I?
