((Sorry ))

Elenath fought his way through many orcs, and picking up two wounds in the process, both small, however.
He fought two orcs at once, taking out one with his knife and the other with a blow to the stomache. He walked over them and continued to fight the never ending sea of orcs.

Aldalas fought hard, but steadily. The orcs seemed to be failing, but this affected his steady fighting but little. He tried to see if Menel was visable aloft. It had been in the back of his mind that this mission might earn her an orc arrow in payment. But the cost of not attempting this plan was worse. He could not see her, but he tried not to give up hope.

Cutting down another orc, he tried again to see her, but only being able to glance up for moments at a time he could not be sure.... and he hoped. He knew she was swift and had a sense about her, keener than most of her kind.

Aldalas found himself separated through the waves of battle from the others. The nearest was Sirieth, pressed hard. He threw himself into trying to cut a way to her. She too was somewhat alone and they would do better to not allow themselves to be totally iscolated.

So focused on her fighting, the Huntress didn't realize she'd become separated from the others... not until she saw Aldalas making his way towads her. Ducking a vicious swing from the next orc-blade, Sirieth tried to change directions - and fight to meet the elven-warrior.

Smoke billowed from within the fortress, blocking the sun, and turning into a strange red globe that seemed to just be 'there' in the sky. There was no time to ponder it, though, and taking a firmer grip on her sword, Siri swung it two-handed in a circle around her head...

**************
Angúron snarled, and danced sideways away from another thrust from the orc - wincing when the movement aggravated the wound in his side. A barking laugh sounded - the beast thinking that it had caused the dark stain that appeared. "Not today!" the black-haired elf snapped, and removed the gloating orc's capability for any further speech.

Above him, a dark 'something' swooped through the hazy sky. Menel! The hawk was still there! Still keeping watch... and dropping the last of the fireworks as another thundering crash sounded from within the high walls...

Giel wished desperatly he could see how the battle was going. At the moment he was on the outskirt, having been pushed by a concentrated press of orcs. He had 'skipped' away from them, and wasnow back in a less isolated spot. His wounds, thought not really life threatening at the moement, were quite painful, and even as he parried with an orc he grimaced.
What was supposed to happen next? He wondered to himself, and his opponeent added a nasty, seep, raged gash on his thigh.

Aldalas was hard pressed to defend all sides as he was alone. He cut his way through the seas of foes as best as he could, but not without some difficulty. He drew in his breath as a an orc's blade sliced across his cheek as he dodged another blow. It was only a small cut having not been directly aimed at him. He killed the orc and and continued.

By the time he reached the huntress, he could feel that it had stopped bleeding, leaving only a cut on his face. It did not feeling poisoned as some orcs blades were and so he ignored it.

Fighting near to Sirieth, they defended each other's backs and redoubled their efforts. "Make for the others," Aldalas shouted above the din of battle. "We must not become further separated from the main forces!"

Elenath took an orc through the middle and then swung around quickly to throw his knife into the neck of another. Retrieving his two weapons, he charged back into the battle.

"Make for the others," Aldalas shouted above the din of battle. "We must not become further separated from the main forces!"

Aldalas was right, Sirieth realized, and nodded. Relieved to have a warrior with his skill nearby, the Huntress redoubled her efforts to hack through the attacking orcs.

********************

Slowly... but not - quite - as slowly as Angúron had anticipated, the remaining elven warriors came together, and began forcing their enemy back in towards Dol Guldur. The wooden gates of the Fortress' entrance were only a few yards away now... and the black-haired elf just knew if they could get inside, the end was in sight...

"Forward!" Anúron yelled, and took on two orcs at once as he pressed on - ignoring his own wounds - and inflicting as much damage on the orcs as he could. They were begining to 'break' under the assault - he could feel it!

(( sorry - writer's block! ))

Staying near to eachother for protection, Aldalas and the Huntress began cutting their way back to the main lines. Aldalas was surprised how far they had drifted and was concerned about getting back to be able to help Anguron. His forces were pressing nearer and nearer to the gates of Dol Guldur.

Yet it was hard work to pass the metres that separated Sirieth and Aldalas from the larger part of th elvish army. The two elves cut and hewed the orcs that seemed to continue to rise before them. Finally, they broke through enough to reach the elvish lines.

They were at the gates. Giel was at the back of the press, and he felt himself burn with frustration at the poor view. He could see the top of the gate, and with a leap of hope he thought he saw them beginning to be forced inwards to make way for the river of elves milling about outside.

Reaching the others, Sirieth felt a wave of relief. From where she and Aldalas were, the elleth could see the great gates of the fortress beginning to swing open. Surging forward, she followed the elven warriors. The thing that concerned the Huntress the most, though, was that she was beginning to tire. How much longer could she hold out? Sirieth wondered...

*****************

Taking a firmer grip on his sword, Angúron led the charge into the dark fortress of the orcs. That his warriors had come this far, was a testament to the elves determination and skill... and deserving of a Lay to proclaim it to all elf-kind everywhere - no matter what end they came to.

And, even if they didn't destroy Dol Guldur completely, Angúron thought, at the least - they were causing enough damage to hamper their enemies movements.

But, for now... there were still orcs a-many facing them, and the black-haired elven commander spun, and lunged again at the beasts...

Aldalas charged with the rest of the wave. He was near enough to the front of the charge to be not that far away from Anguron. They were then faced by a smaller inner gate. This was partially open, and orcs were trying to close it hastily, but before they could it was thrown open from the inside.

Eight giant cave trolls crashed through the gate, their clubs swinging back and forth. Parts of the first rank of elves were flung back by the creatures. Aldalas sprang forward and shoved Anguron to save him from a blow.

The elves fell back and reformed. Archers were called as the ranks set themselves with spears to brace against attack. Arrows flew and two trolls fell injured. But their skin was tough and they wore collars such that it was hard to hit their throat. The archers reloaded, but the trolls advanced, those that were hit angrily and chaotically swinging at random. The arrows were fired again, this time one fell dead.

Aldalas saw that Sirieth had become stationed near to the front line. He fit an arrow to his bow. It was one of his last. Aiming carefully, he losed it. It hit the troll in the throat just above the metal collar, felling it before it reached Sirieth's line. As Aldalas lowered his bow, he turned swiftly. One of the other trolls was nearly on top of him.

He ducked it first blow, trying to dart away, but it seemed to have singled him out as its prey. Aldalas slung his bow on his back and whipped out his twin knives. Again ducking, he stuck one hard into the troll's foot. It reared up, but as he pulled his knife free, he was knocked to the ground by the troll's free swinging hand. He got up swiftly, trying to rejoin his line as the archers shot again.

((Ooo, they have cave trolls... ))

Geil almost swore under his breath when he saw the huge bulks of the trolls. He edged around, gettiong back to the edge of the group. He wanted to get close enough to carry out his idea without killing himself in the process.
One troll was running forwards, and stopped by a number of threatening elvish archers. Its back was turned to Geil. The young elf stooped, and threw an orcish sword in a great arc. It missed.
The troll was breaking through the line of elves. Giel again found a blade. Taking careful aim (as careful aim as one can take while checking for orcs, trolls, and throwing a curved, jagged sword). He threw it.
It flew through the air, curving jus tin the direction Giel had predicted. It caught it in the back of the knee, opening an uncloseable wound that began to bleed. Now, it was only a matter of time... This was a dirty buisness, wasn't it? Giel thought to himself as he dashed away from a large press of the enemy.

Angúron swore as Aldalas pushed him out of the way. Cave trolls? He saw one fall... and then another by Aldalas' hand. Geil, too, had severely wounded a third, but the damage the creatures were inflicting on his warriors was great.

Gritting his teeth, the elven-comander double-loaded his bow and sent two arrows at once towards one of them. One landed as he'd aimed, but the second missed by mere inches. "Back!" he shouted, and since Sirieth was close enough for him, silently ordered her to forward it on to everyone. "We need to 'regroup'! They're spreading us too thin with these troll!"

Receiving her Commander's message, the Huntress did as ordered. Sirieth was tired... nearly spent from her efforts. Angrily, the elleth wished she'd the strength and experience of Angúron's warriors. Grimly, and quickly, she wiped her hands on her tunic, her sword-hilt was slipping from her grip.

But... falling back a little, Siri could tell Angúron was no less determined than before. And, after a bare moment's rest, he sent what was left of his comanay forward again, to surround, and (if they could) first remove the remaining cave-trolls blocking their way... and then to storm the fortress...

"What we need," Giel muttered. "Is one good hit." stooped, and grabbed up an orc bow and arrow. There were three unbroken arrows. He thrust them through his belt, adn looked for the nearest troll. It was being driven back by a number of very brave elvish warriors. Taking and arrow to the string, he sent a ratehr wide shot that buried itself in the troll's arm. The poor, stupid creature roared, and turned.

((Ack! Out of time! Sorry to leave so unfinished...))
