Which friendships/relationships/pairings are your favourite? (Note: Characters can be repeated more than once)

I voted for Frodo and Sam. There are a lot of great friendships in LotR, but theirs really held when put to the test.

I like Eowyn/Merry. The scene at Dunharrow are just funny, plus I love Miranda.

i love them all cos they are all so sweet and important but i voted for Aragorn/Arwen...its just soo powerful and goes far beyond middle earth (well also the others do but...i picked this one!=))

I know that the relationship between Frodo and Sam it's the heart of the book, but I'm more fond of Merry and Pippin. That's because while watching Rotk for the first time in the cinemas I started weeping when I saw their parting at Edoras. So touching...

I love all of them but I voted for Frodo and Sam. They're bond is so strong. It's true friendship and it's very touching because of how much they suffered and they still were friends. Even though there were things that almost broke their friendship.

I think they are all great...
But I went for Frodo and Sam as well cause it is a huge part of the story

I liked their friendship as well. Gimli/Legolas is nice.

Merry/Pippin is more of a silly friendship and they are always playing around.

You know I think my top ones are frodo/sam, legolas/gimli/, merry/pippen, gandalf/frodo, and legolas/aragorn. In all of the their friendships come through greatly. The best of the frodo and sam one is at the end of ROTK where frodo is expalining the end of all things. :sob: et: also the look on frodo's face outside of mine of moria when gandalf dies is classic. that shows he's friendship with gandalf huge. Oh, and the fact that an elf and a dwarf are friends is great. At the end of ROTK where Aragorn is gonna be smashed by that trol (sp.?) and legolas is trying to get to him is good too.

I voted for Merry/Pippin. Even though most of the time they are acting silly, you know they would do anything for each other.

Frodo and Sam's. It was pushed to the very limit and beyond. Besides, I love Sam!!

Merry & Pippin's was worth mentioning too though.

I voted Merry and Pippin. Sure, they may not face such trials together as Frodo and Sam had to but I think their friendship would prove just as deep. They are equally devoted to each other and neither of them was special in any way to start off with. They can have fun together but they care deeply for each other and they made me cry a whole lot more than Sam and Frodo.

Gimli and Legolas. They showed how friends are often really different but can still bring joy to two people. About opening yourself to something you hadn't considered before. Looking harder. Finding all those things that are the same despite the differences. :blush:

oooh, so many people voted, and for frodo and sam too!!! how sweet, personally i like ALL OF THEM, that's probably why i put them in a poll in the first place, but anyway...thanks for polling, or voting on my poll, or whatever you like to call it...

Frodo and Sam, because it strikes me as the most powerful. Sam`s devotion to Frodo is really amazing, no scene in lotr touched me as much as Sam carrying his master up Mt Doom did. Plus they look so sweet together

I went with Aragorn/Eomer.....there are so many other good ones, but these two just have a really cool bond....you don't see it much in the movies, but it extends far after the written story concludes

I think that Frodo and Sam are really interesting. Especially Sam. I just don't understand him, I would have ditched Frodo when he took Gollum to be a guide. Sam went through so much pain just for Frodo:cry: I would have done it for my cat, I wish I had the chance to :cry: I love him and would have done anything for him incuding giving my own life, Imiss him:cry: :heart: :cry: :heart: :cry:

My vote goes to Merry and Pippin.

Sam was very loyal to Frodo, but it was more of a master-servant relationship than true friendship (coming from egalitarian Scandinavia where kids are on first name terms with their teachers, Sam's "Mr. Frodo" really grated). For me, true friendship is only possible between equals. However, I do find Sam's loyalty to Frodo touching, especially the way he resolutely ignores the changes the ring has wrought on Frodo.

I voted for two pairings! I like the friendship between Legolas and Gimli because they are soo different and their races dislike each other but in all the turmoil and hard feelings they find a way to know each other and become good friends.

I also voted for Aragorn and Legolas. Even though it's not really written anywhere I think they are good friends. In the movie anyways. Legolas always seem to be there to help Aragorn and visaversa.

and where is Boromir/Merry-Pippin? that relationship is amazing, how Boromir cares about them, and wants to protect them, and hat relationship sort of saves him from what he's done to Frodo, it turns him back to what he really is, a great man, willing to give his life for a cause and his honor. Still, I love many of the relationships, but I though that one's missing

I think Legolas and Gimli is my fav friendship because of the dislike between Elfs and Dwarves but Legolas and Gimli overcome this and become very great friends especialy as Legolas takes Gimli into the west with him when he leaves Middle Earth

Me too.

And also why i like their bond the best is because out of the choices, they are 1 of the few maybe even the only that have been companions since they were very very young...

For me, they won by far. But all of the friendships are great.
