Nethwen walked through the forest of Mirkwood. It had become a beautiful since Sauron ws dethroned. Nethwen was making her way over to the archery range so she could practice, she dreamed of being as good as Prince Legolas. As she made her way she heard a horrible noise. "Sounds like Goblins." Nethwen said, she hadn't heard the sound of Goblins near Mirkwood for a long time. She followed the sound until she came upon a camp. It looked like it hadn't been left for long. "I should follow these Goblins, we need not trouble in our land." Nethwen said. She began the chase, but they seemed like they were driven to get somewhere.

Soon it became darker, she was in Southern Mirkwood. "I have feared this place for years, and although the evil is gone something still lurks." Nethwen said. Then suddenly before she realized where she was she came upon the clearing where Dol Guldor was. Nethwen watched with shock. Fires were burning again and the sound of Goblins was in the air. "A new evil has come. I must warn my people." Nethwen said as she turned to run back. When she turned around though she heard something scramble up a tree. She strung her bow and aimed for the shadow in the tree....

Emerwen was riding through the forest on the outskirts of the realm of Mirkwood. She was the stable-girl for the king, and taking care of the horses was how she spent her time. She groomed them, cleaned their tack, talked to them, rode them when they were getting restless...that is what she was doing now. Her favorite horse, and the one she felt closest to, Artanis, wsa the one she was riding now. Every time she groomed him, or cleaned his stall, he would nuzzle her shoulder, or follow her around the stall.

Suddenly there was a cackle and shriek. She knew that sound well. She knew of all the sounds of creatures who had ever inhabited Mirkwood. She had a good memory, and could even recall her father's voice, who had died when she was born.

"Goblins! Where are they? The War of the Ring is over, they shouldn't be here," she told her mount. She reached behind her for an arrow and notched in in her bow. She rode that way for awhile, the arrow pointed towards the ground. She approached the area where the sound had come, and was prepared to defend herself at will.

Nethwen shot a goblin out of the tree. "I had better get out of here before more come." Nethwen said. She quickly turned and began making her way back to the kingdom of Mirkwood so she could warn the king. As she ran she bumped into another elf that happened to be her friend. "Emerwen we must warn the king! Goblins have taken over Dol Guldor!" Nethwen shouted. She quickly grabbed Emerwen's arm and ran toward the great caves in which they lived....

Elros rode in the quiet solitude of Mirkwood, all by himself with no distractions, it was quite enjoyable. His short time of peace and quiet was interupted by the shreaks and smell of goblins. Drawing his sword he rode foreward with all the speed his horse,Shea, could muster. The sounds grew louder as he drew nearer to Dol Guldor. He dismounted and walked quietly now, sword held ready. Then he came upon two elven women running back towards then kingdom of Mirkwood.

"What is happening here?"

"Dol Guldor has been taken by the goblins! They are rising as the new evil!" Nethwen said, she was out of breath. The elf looked shocked. "Come, we must warn King Thranduil and Prince Legolas of what has happened." Nethwen said. She still had a hold on Emerwen's arm.
When they arrived in the cave kingdom of Thranduil it did not take them long to find him and his son. "My King." Nethwen said with a bow. "I was chasing goblins that were wandering in our forest. I chased them all the way to Dol Guldor and there I saw that they are making that their kingdom." Nethwen said. The King was about to say something when suddenly a loud noise was heard outside. "They are here." Nethwen said in an alarmed whisper....

(I think that you can play either or both if you want to.)

A lady had been sitting by Thranduil, listening engaged to the tale the elven-lady had told. Her sturdy build spoke at once of her ancestry, that of the Dunedain, but the lithe way she moved when she stood, and the pointed ears no doubt spoke of her elven lineage as well.

Ardinlas had leapt to her feet as the two elven maids and another elf had entered the king's throne room unannounced. "Goblins at Dol Guldur!" she cried, glancing at the king. "Uncle, before anything else is said, let me go with these maids and scout it out. It would be wise for us to, unless they are at the castle doors, as this lady has said,"

"I do not know how close they are, but I can hear them." Nethwen said. "I think it would be good to go scouting, I'll send Legolas with you." King Thranduil said. Legolas approached carrying his bow. Nethwen was honored to scout with the Prince of Mirkwood.
Soon they were sneaking in and out of the shadows. "I see them." Nethwen whispered to her comrades. "Do you think they intend to attack us?" Nethwen asked. "No, They have not enough to even bypass our gates." Legolas whispered. "What should we do?" Nethwen asked.

After he escorted the two elven maidens back to King Thranduil's court, Elros returned to Dol Guldor to scout out the goblin infestation. When he had been observing the goblins for a few minutes, he spotted Legolas,Ardinlas, and one of the two elven maids he had escorted back to the sanctity of the Elven city. "Undoubtedly they are doing the same as I. I should share what I have found."

He walked stealthily as he could got behind them just in time to hear the exchange of words between the unknown woman and Legolas. "My lord, how may I assist you?"

As Legolas, Nethwen, and Ardinlas rode to Dol Guldur, Emerwen set out of Mirkwood, towards Mordor, to see if the goblins had spread. She knew that they were at Dol Guldur, but she didn't know if they had come from somewhere else, or spread to someplace else, but, nevertheless, if they were anywhere else, she would find them.

She heard something behind her as she left Mirkwood's borders, and turned around cautiously, to see another elf behind her. She recognized him as one of Legolas' friends, but she had forgotten his name.
"What is your name, stranger?"

Legolas looked at Elros. "Would you warn a few warriors of this and bring them here so that we can ambush these goblins." Legolas asked, Elros turned and left. Nethwen watched the goblins closely. "My lord, could we not take them on ourselves? There are only a few." Nethwen suggested. "No, it would not be safe. I know you are an accomplished archer as I am but I do not want harm to come to you." Legolas explained. Then she heard the goblins talking, they were begining to move. "They are aware of our presence my lord. We must attack." Nethwen said urgently. Legolas knew this would be their last chance. They both stood and fired their arrows. The goblins looked frightened at first but when they realized there were only two elves they grabbed their bows and swords and started to fight back. They all fell though, it was useless to fight against Mirkwood archers such as Legolas and Nethwen.

When the goblins rushed at Legolas and the others, Elros drew his sword and threw himself upon the goblins and slew all that got too close to the archers. Soon there were none left alive. "Well, I guess that there is no need for any others now. I shall go inside and search there for more goblins" With this he crept towards the fortress of Dol Guldor.

"Wait for us Elros!" Nethwen called to him. Legolas and Nethwen followed Elros. They wanted to see how many had gathered.
When they came there they were surprised to see not many goblins. "I wonder where they all are?" Nethwen wondered. "I think now would be a good opportunity to search around Dol Guldor." Legolas said. The three elves approached the gates. They were shut and there was no way to open it from the outside. "We're going to have to climb." Nethwen said as she looked up at the high walls.
Soon they were on the other side. The slipped into the shadows. there were goblin camps scattered inside the fortress. Then they heard goblin voices inside the main tower. "That must be where the goblin king is." Nethwen said. "We mustn't be seen, or we will be in more trouble then we bargained for." Legolas whispered.

"I am searching for goblins that are beyond the borders of Mirkwood, and to destroy them. We do not need another war like the War of the Ring to erupt between the elves and the goblins. I will gladly accept your offer, even though I am sure I can take care of myself, because two of us would be better odds against a foe than just me alone. Thank you, Neglogas."

She shook his hand in greeting, and began walking along the same course.

(I am assuming my group is at Dol Guldur now? If not, then I will revise this.)

Ardinlas, having stayed and letting the elven archers pick off the goblins, decided it was her time to help as well. As the group stood in the shadows of the high walls, Ardinlas whispered to the rest, "I was here the last time it was attacked, and I remember that there was a door not too far from here that was hidden. The only reason I found it was by accident. If we can find it again, I doubt we will have to climb, unless, you want to climb the walls anyway." She withdrew her sword, Wyndfar, and proceeded to search for the door.

----------------------------------

Unaware that they were being watched, a commander of the goblins was following the group's every move. "Climb if you will, little elves," he sneered. "See how far you get before your blood will adorn the grounds of here."

(Hope this is ok!)

Emerwen and Neglogas approached Mordor warily. The air was still stenched with an evil that Mer couldn't recognize, but she didn't want to go any closer. A reassuring hand on her back from Neglogas gave her the courage she needed as she stepped into the bordors of Mordor.

(That was great Dinenlasse!)

The elves slipped in the shadows, they seemed to be unnoticed. Then suddenly all the goblins rushed in their direction. "What should we do!" Nethwen exclaimed as she readied her bow. "We can't hold them off for long!" Nethwen said. "Shoot as many as you can. Ardinlas find a way for us to escape." Legolas ordered. Legolas, Nethwen and Elros fought the goblins as best they could, but soon it became overwhelming and they could not hold them off much longer. "Hurry Ardinlas!" Nethwen cried as she shot another goblin.

When he had become aware of the goblins rushing them, Elros drew his sword and placed himself in between the elves and the oncoming goblins, allowing the archers enough room to fire. He was being pushed back little by little, there were simply too many of them. "There are too many. We must get out of here if we can." He used ever muscle in his body to fend off the goblins, but it was an up hill struggle and he couldn't keep it up much longer. Just then he lost his footing and went down, the goblins seized the opportunity to pounce on him.

When Legolas saw Elros fall he jumped to his aid. He used his white knives to push them back. Nethwen helped shoot them back. "We must run!" Legolas shouted. "If we do they shall be on us in second!" Nethwen called back. "We must take the chance! Help Elros to his feet." Legolas said. Nethwen quickly helped him up, then the three of them ran for it. The goblins followed quickly. "Where is Aridinlas!" Nethwen shouted to Legolas. Legolas looked back. "Kepp going! I'll find her!" Legolas said. "No! I won't let you go alone!" Nethwen said. Then they noticed Ardinlas, it looked like she had found a way out.

(heloooo - Maeayfelin, where r u???? my character is at a dead end unless u post!)

Mer heard some shrieks that sounded like goblins, but she couldn't be sure. She moved closer, her companion close behind, her hand was on her arrow, and his was on his bow. She also gripped her dagger, in case hand-to-hand combat broke out. But for now, she quietly crept closer to the sounds coming from the distance.

Ardinlas rushed along the wall to find the door she knew to be hidden somewhere along it. Finally, her hand touched something that felt like wood, and she pushed against it. A cleverly hidden door swung open, and Ardinlas cried to the others, "Here! I have found the door! Follow me!" As the others hurried toward her, the goblins followed at a breakneck pace, arrows raining among them. After everyone made it through the door, Ardinlas shut it and locked it tight. Looking at the others, she sighed. "At least we are safe for the moment," she said.

"Where are we going to go?" Nethwen asked. "We can follow this passage and see where it leads." Legolas said. They creep along the narrow passage. Nethwen hoped they would soon come out of it and go back to the forest. Then Nethwen noticed a crack in the wall. She peeked in to see the throne room. The goblin king sat proudly on his throne. "Legolas, look!" Nethwen whispered. Legolas sat beside her and looked into the room. "We cannot do anything about that now, we must leave." Legolas said as he turned back. Nethwen wished they had not been seen by the goblins so they could attack the goblin king, but she knew it was time to leave.

Elros slowed at the crack just long enough to catch a glimpse of the throne room. He hesitated thinking for a moment of telling the others to go and bring more warriors while he stayed to kill the king. This was absurd he knew and he dismissed it without another thought. "Legolas, how could we have not have noticed these goblins coming through Mirkwood? Surely one of the patrols would have seen some of them." A thought occurred to him, what if they didn't come through Mirkwood, but instead came through underground passages and tunnels.

(( sorry aravis Ive been on holls Anyway its Ngelogas its a very nasal letter NG its welsh but sounds sorta elvish))

Ngelogas and his new companion Mer had heard loud shrieks coming from over a large hill for a relatively long time and had decided to creep slowly and silently towards the Goblin din.

After a minuet or two The both came to the crest of the hill where they both crouched behind a large rock, Mer risked a look over the large bolder and saw eight Goblin skirmishers gathered around a fire they where arguing and fighting. Ngelogas Looked around the bolder and gasped as he saw an goblin thrust a spear into it's colleagues eye the others immediately started to feed on the dead corpse.

Ngelogas Whispered in Mer's ear "Their hungry, weak, and disorganized, we can taker them they are only skirmishers in light Armour with spears of arrows that they can hardly fire!" Mer caught the way that Ngelogas spoke about them a deep hatred boiled in his voice a hatred that no Elf should have to feel.

Mer caught the sound of excitment and hatred in Logas' voice, but she didn't question him. She was too preoccupied that the eight, now seven goblins around this camp might just be a set-up for a bigger ambush.

"Wait," she whispered as he made a move to get up.
"I don't think it's safe." Suddenly, an animal raced through from the forest behind them, and was immeadiately killed and eaten raw by the goblins. Then Mer knew.
"Okay, it's fine," she whispered, "I was afraid it was an ambush, and if it had been, a volley of something, may it be rocks, arrows, or corpse heads, would have come from the sides of that camp to kill that animal. They wouldn't have waited to see what it was. But there was nothing, so are you ready? Now!"

They ran out yelling, attacking as many goblins as possible. Mer didn't like this approach, she preferred sneak and attack, but to each his own. She fired two arrow at one goblin, and as he fell, she snatched one of the arrows out, and shoved it into another's face. She took out her dagger, and began hacking at whatever bit of goblin she could reach.

As the melee began Ngelogas Drew his sword back ready for a long sweeping attack in true Elfish style. He hacked legs off a small goblin spilling blood onto the dirty floor as the ugly creature writhed on the floor Ngelogas plunged his blade into the goblins head. As he savored the kill Ngelogas heard a strangled cry coming towards him on of the green skins was running towards him on of Mer's arrows punctured in his throat. Ngelogas showed the goblin a small potion of his chest as he swung his sword up ready to strike, the green skin took his bait and lunged forward just before the goblin struck his target Ngelogas brought his sword down cleaving the goblins head in two.

The melee came to a slow halt and eventually stopped Mer had made more kills but Ngelogas had enough to quench his thirst. After cleaning off Ngelogas went around the camp searching for anything of interest. He came back to Mer later with a small bag of pickings, a bag of arthelas obviously robbed by the goblins and several of Mer's arrows that he had recovered from the bloodied corpses

Ardinlas felt a surge of hatred as she sighted the goblin king seated on the throne. But her common sense kicked in, and she beckoned to the others as she saw a passage that she thought led to another door. "Follow me," Ardinlas mouthed silently, creeping along the edge of the castle.

They followed Ardinlas along the passage, senses alert to the sound or smell of goblins. A foul stench reeked in the air, and Ardinlas had to hold a hand over her nose to stay it. How they can live in filth, she thought. At the end of the corridor was indeed a door, but it didn't seem to lead outside of the wall. "Should we open it?" Ardinlas asked the others, knowing that if the decision was up to her, she would.

"There is no other way." Nethwen said to Ardinlas. "She is right, we must go through." Legolas agreed. They stepped into yet another goblin room. "We must be silent. That is our only ally." Legolas whispered. They silently crept through the room to a door on the other side of the room.

The door opened into another chamber, and they followed that into a corridor with many other doors. Ardinlas looked around frustrated. "Where should we go?" she asked, glancing over her shoulder to make sure they weren't being followed.

The heard the sounds of goblins. "They know we are here somewhere. It will be only a matter of time before they find us." Nethwen said. Then the sounds came closer. "They are going to come through this door!" Nethwen whispered. "We have no time, we will go down this one." Legolas said. They rushed down the hall. It seemed there was no way out of this tunnel but then they saw a huge crack at the top. They would be able to fit themselves through! Legolas helped all the elves out before he got out himself. "We must tell my father of this." Legolas said. The elves quickly rushed back towards the elven kingdom.

When they came back Legolas explained about the goblins. "How could this happen without our knowing?" Thranduil wondered aloud. "We must double the border guards, we cannot have anymore evil beings come through." Thranduil ordered. Legolas nodded and went to find more guards to the guard the border of Mirkwood. Nethwen followed, she knew many young elves that would want to guard the borders of their land.

The battle ended shortly, and Mer yelled to Ngelogas.
"We have to get back to Mirkwood, Ngelogas! This is only proof that the goblins have spread. We must tell King Thranduil and the others!" He approached Mer, and they began trekking their way back to Mirkwood.

A few weeks later, they were entering the caves, and approached the King.
"Thranduil," Mer bowed, "Goblins have been found outside of Dul Goldur. They have spread to Mordor, and I fear that if we do not send an army to destroy them all, we will have a new enemy in Middle-Earth." She bowed again, and noticed Nethwen enter the room.
"Nethwen!" she called, and hugged her friend.
"Ngelogas and I found a camp in Mordor. We fear that there are more goblins there than what we saw. What did you find at Dul Goldur?" Mer asked her friend worriedly.

"They have a new goblin king Mer! They have a whole army in Dol Guldor!" Nethwen told Mer. Legolas then came back with a few other guards. "I have found some willing warriors to protect our borders." Legolas said. "Quickly, you must guard day and night until we find out how they came here." Thranduil ordered. The guards quickly rushed out. "Is there anything more I can do?" Nethwen asked Thranduil. "Not at this time Nethwen. Wait, maybe you could warn the maidens. Prepare them for the danger that may come." King Thranduil said. Nethwen lowered her head at this order, she wanted to help guard or fight. She was the one to find the goblins, why could she not fight? Nethwen wanted to speak, but she knew that the king would not heed her plea to fight so she made her way down the great cave halls.

She told each maiden she met about the terror that lived nearby. "You must prepare for the worst." Nethwen said to a young maiden. "Yes, I will go warn my family." The young maid said. Nethwen looked around, she saw the armoury. "I'm sure the king wouldn't mind if I found some armour to fit me." Nethwen thought. She quietly sliped into the room and looked at the armour that leaned against the walls. She picked up a piece of armour from the ground and began examing it when she heard a voice behind her. "I think that one is a little large for you." Nethwen whirled around to see Legolas, he had a smirk on his face. "Don't scare me like that Legolas." Nethwen said a she placed the armour back down. "What are you doing Nethwen? You aren't planning on joining us in the fight are you?" Legolas asked, but Nethwen knew that he knew that was exactly what she want to do."You know I can fight as good as anyone!" Nethwen said. "I know, but a battlefiled isn't a place for a lady." Legolas replied. "You can't stop me from protecting my land." Nethwen said, she was becoming angry. "I could order you to, but I choose not to. I think we could use more willing fighters." Legolas said. Thats when Nethwen realized she was fighting with the price of Mirkwood. "Does that mean you will let me fight?" Nethwen asked hopefully. "No. It is not wise, and although you are a good fighter I wouls rather you take care of the maidens and children." Legolas said. Nethwen lowered her head sadly, how could he not see her determination. After Legolas left Nethwen decided she would fight no matter what. She knew she could get in big trouble for not honoring the prince's wishes but she could not stay.

Mer overheard Nethwen's arguement with Legolas, and watched his retreating footsteps. She walked in, and strapped her bow back across her shoulders.
"I heard you, Nethwen, and I will fight with you. I won't let further hurt come to our people and to Middle-Earth. And besides, the elves need more warriors besides what they have." Mer and Nethwen left the armoury, not knowing that Ngelogas overheard them.

Ardinlas had stayed in conference with Thranduil when the others had left. "You are sending the maidens away then, Uncle?" she asked, eyeing Thranduil with anger. "Certainly some of them can fight."

"Yes," Thranduil agreed reluctantly, sensing that Ardinlas was about to lash him with her temper. "But not all of them have the spirit or the skills to do battle like you do. If I could have it my way, I would have you stay here as well, but I know that if there is an enemy about, you won't stay here."

"I suppose I understand your reasoning, but you should have let Nethwen go into battle. She is as willing as I am. Certainly you could recognize that."

"I could, but why take the chance of wasting a perfectly good life when she could stay here and help?"

Ardinlas stood and spoke with scarcely controlled anger. "You are implying that my life is worthless enough to send into battle?"

"Ardinlas, no! You know I would never say anything like that about you."

Infuriated, Ardinlas left the room and went to the armoury to find a suit or something of the like to aid her when she went into battle.
