[Thread located here. For everyones' conveniance, please post here in the OOC before actually entering the RP.]

For those interested, I've decided to start an RP set in Rivendell, post-War of the Ring. As the title suggests, the story will be centered around some of the elves that decided to stay in Middle-Earth. The plot is still murky, but there will probably be some kind of danger that the elves have to protect Rivendell from. Roving orcs? Evil men? Or perhaps decay, since Elrond is no longer there to protect Rivendell from the elements. Will the elves end up leaving Rivendell, or do they stay, despite the difficulties? Any ideas regarding the plot would be greatly appreciated.

Any who wish to participate are free to do so, as long as your character is an elf. Just reply here with your character(s) and how you think they'd fit in. Also, any ideas/suggestions are more than welcome!

One question: would this RP belong in Totally Tolkien or Tolkien Related?

The moderators of the RP Forum would recommend that if this thread begins, you should begin it the TR forum. As someone new to this Forum, it helps to get your feet wet in TR before you take on the responsibilities and restrictions of the TT forum.

It would help if you read THIS THREAD which discusses this very issue.

I'd be very honoured to join this RPG I'm going to create a new character for this though. I'll post it here when I'm done

Yay, my character is up: his name is Alagos. he is an elf, fairly old but nothing out of the ordinary (if elves can be called ordinary) He is in the database.

Hey, I'd be interested in joining as well. I would be using Narluin or Farynel, depending on what types of characters you are looking for. They are both in the database if you want to take a look at them. It should be fun getting involved again!

If nobody else joins within the next few days we can begin the thread. What do you guys think about baddies? Do we need any? If so, would any of you be willing to play a few?

I have an evil man character in the db...I was going to use him for another RP, but the RP died, so perhaps I can use him here. If I need to change anything let me know. His name is Iarnen.

I must confess I've never played a truly evil character...ever. They just don't appeal to me.

Edit: To make the RP a bit more exciting, one of my characters (Aerlinniel) will be travelling to Rivendell with a warning regarding the growing number of orcs in that area (or something like that ). She'll need a companion/escort, preferably male. Any takers?

I would (though you said you wanted a male possibly...lol).

I think I will use Farynel because she is a little more realistic, and I would like to get her back into the rpging world. She is a scout and could possibly see them as she comes to Rivendell??? I guess we will figure that out eventually.

The reason I said 'preferably male' is because I think it would be a bit unusual for a woman to be travelling without an escort--even if she is an elf. That's my opinion, at least. xD

Mind if my elf Celethor Aerindir joins in? He can serve as escort as well. I have him in another thread during the War, but it is perfectly within his history to linger in Middle-Earth. You can check is profile in the db, he is like in the most recent atm.

Look forward to joining in and RPing with ya.


P.S.-He would be a great escort in case of orc threat, he kinda hates them...ALOT

well, I believe all of our characters would hate these orcs.

And Aewennen (or Wen, for short, because writing her name over and over gets annyoing) she's pretty much been wandering about ME for a few years, but Imladris is her home, so perhaps she could be called to Imladris when she is sent a message about the orcs gathering. How does that sound?

Oh, and I've been thinking of Wen having a hawk whom she is friends with, he brings her messages and he sends messages to places for her, is that okay? I was going to add it in her profile if it works.

Another hawk?? Is that really necessary? I can't even recall a single place in anything JRRT wrote that hawks were involved with his characters, let alone carrying and bringing messages.

Think about it....is your character not well-defined enough that it needs help from a hawk?

To help Elfmaiden out,

If you want an animal companion (a bird no less) for just message carrying, then I suggest that you use a human from the line of Dale. They could communicate with Ravens? Thrushes? I will have to check. If your character is an elf....lol I dunno what to suggest. (sorry im not certain, its a long thread so far and im really really tired atm)

Edit: Ok I looked through and looked at your db character. Ya looks like there isn't really a way to have a hawk companion, at least one that agrees with the rules.

New part:BerethEdhellion, would it be possible for my new RP character to have a pet squirrel? He is originally from Mirkwood and he wouldn't talk to it and converse. I think that would be within the rules, but I don't want to slip up again ^-^

Maybe Alagos could somehow befriend my char, Aeregwathion. From the looks of things, they've both got myterious pasts and don't like to talk much. It's your decision, though...as the story unfolds you'll probably find something for you char to do.

If all goes well, the thread should be up in TR later today. ^^
