Sorry for the double post -but I've posted.

I hope it's all right - let me know if I need to edit anything. I totally suck at 'battle scenes'!

I also hope it's ok that the others went to help Frain & the Stronghammers - one orc for the 3 of Bragin, Falin and Regin was a little 'lopsided' against 6 against the Stronghammers & Frain I thought. But again, I can edit if needed.

It was supposed to be lopsided as the orcs were trying to cut off a section of the party and deal with them quickly. Thus, helping them is perfectly logical.

WONDERFUL!!!

I especially enjoy the crossbow! It's a nice change of weaponry from the others.

I will work on my next post this upcoming week.

Planning on having one more stretch of conversations so that the characters can get to know each other a little better. I believe the group is about 4 days from Moria. Someone point out if I am wrong. This should leave plenty of time for proper conversation.

One question. You mention the elves of Rivendell. were there any left at this time? I am not so great at the history stuff so I am not sure. The setting for this story is 80 years after the ringbearers left Middle Earth just to give you a time frame.

Hi,

Yes, Elladan and Elrohir are still there. Celeborn, too, possibly, as he did not (as in the movies) sail into the West with Galadriel.

Also, just to be able to say he's been there would be enough for Aervon. E.g... visiting ancient ruins as a sight-seeing trip in our time. No one is 'there', but they're terrific to see!

There will probably be a lot of short posts during this meeting so we can either keep the posts short or combine it all into a joint post between the four of us.

Whichever you guys want is fine with me. I don't have Merides' email so I will need that if we decide to do a joint post.

Okay, I did it. Bragin has moved things forward - not unlike clearing a blocked commode. Which is what this writer's cramp of mine feels like.

Hey, I always prefer a good post to a quick post. I haven't had much time on my hands anyway lately so the break from posting once a week or so has been VERY nice.

TRIVIA QUESTION: How many Dwarves ARE there in Frain's company? Only the players?? Or are there a company of other NPC's as well? It seems foolhardy to retake Moria with only seven Dwarves...

hmmmm.... good question, Hal. I guess I assumed we were going to gather more (NPC's) as we went along. Edraitheru?

*grin* I have to tell you guys a funny story that happened to me this weekend. I was watching FOTR since it was playing on TNT on Saturday and Sunday. (It is beside the point that I own several copies of the movies. FOTR was on TV. I watched it. XD) Anyway, it came to the point where Frodo says, "We will go through the mines." The scene shifts to the walls of Moria. I'm sure you all know where I'm talking about - we're going there, lol - and Aragorn says to Merry and Pip, "Don't disturb the water."

For some strange reason, I broke out in a cold sweat. The watcher emerged, and Nori spoke in the back of my mind: "We're gonna have tae face that beastie?" I shook my head, my heart pumping. How on earth are we going to beat him? Corin reminded me about Bragin's plan. I nodded, listening to his reasoning. Broc, of course, boasted that he could take the Watcher. I ignored him.

My point is this: I am way too involved with this storyline!

And yes, I do talk to my characters, and they talk back.

I had always assumed that there were a larger company of Dwarves in the caravan. I tried to write vague about it, never specifying any numbers. But even Balin, when he brought Ori and Oin "and many of our folk" to Moria the first time, it implied there was a fair battalion of them.
