A rather garbled word in terms of etymology, vaguely attributed to Buckland Hobbits for the The Prancing Pony, who had spent extended drinking sprees there before the War of The Ring.

A terrible time in the history of the Hobbits when a particularly noxious virus, thought to have originated in, some heretofore unknown mythic place, called Barad-dûr.

It stuck during the dead of winter, felling Hobbits and beasts alike, and had faded into the mists of time, until Bilbo returned from his adventures with a tale of it heard by the fire in the Last Homely House.

The reputed name of Gríma Wormtongue's alleged, but practically unknown, brother, rumored to have been a trainer for Uruk-hai riding Wargs whose training methods had severe flaws.

Etiology: Unknown. Thought to possibly be a Black Speech word for one of Melkor's failed experiments; a fact disputed by a number of Black Speech scholars who believe the origin to be Númenorean.
