One of the most obscure incidents of the First Age, possibly occurring when the Two Trees still bloomed. Some unverified sources claim that it was the reason that the Kine of Araw were to be found east of Belegaer at all. Others claim it was the origin of the leather industry. Oromë's office has refused all comment on the topic since ... ah ... a very long time ago.

An old and, if I may say so, long poem about the first ride Eorl took on Felaróf. Much to their dismay, generations of young Rohirric school children have been forced encouraged to memorise numerous verses.

The Siege of Helm's Deep.

A very serious uprising of Rohirric school children fed up with being coerced to memorize that blasted, endless ancient poem "The Ride of the Rohirrim", which led to the poem being broken down into almost innumerable short verses which would in later days be called limericks.

The infamous, or famous (depending on whether or not one took part in it), junket Maedhros undertook whilst babysitting his younger brothers and cousins.

According to documents from the period, it started at the base of the white tree, Galathilion, wound through the streets of Tirion to the top of Túna, and returned to the square where the white tree stood, whence it culminated with a climb of the great Tower of Ingwë.

When asked later what he had been thinking, Maedhros is reported to have replied that he thought it would be "educational".

This event has given us the modern expression: "undertaking a Maedhros", which is used by individuals facing a laborious and unrewarding task.

The Middle-earth equivalent of the Sears catalog (sorry, an insider joke probably restricted to Germany, and perhaps to those over 20, but I just couldn't resist).

A small stream flowing from the south into The Water just before the latter flowed into the Bywater Pool on the western side, considered an extreme nuisance by those Hobbits wishing to change locales between "The Ivy Bush" and the "Green Dragon" either way at very late times of night.

A late Fourth Age, perhaps even Fifth Age, confused name for the steed that some reputedly grey (or white - the sources are confused and contradictory) wizard rode in some insignificant skirmishes leading up to the, tremendously decisive, Battle of Bywater in late SR 1419. The confusion derives from the fact that neither the imperfectly remembered wizard nor his even less perfectly remembered steed took part in this paradigm-shifting battle.
