I've only ever seen dot-matrix printing on receipts, so no.

At the office and at home, it’s been Windows (and earlier MS-DOS) all the way. But Windows 95, for example, was the beta version of Windows 98, imo; and I have no experience with Apple or Java, so I can’t personally compare systems. Favorite – default is the more accurate term.

I do, and the cartridges cost more than the printer.

Skeptical to cynical about the Internet, yes. Some may call that fear, I would call them fools.

TNP prefers reading non-fiction books to reading fiction books (and this includes e-book readers).

I read more fiction than non-fiction, but I can't say I prefer one over the other really.

I do not have the slightest idea, as I am totally unaware of what “a dab hand” is supposed to mean.

TNP might be able to clarify to me what exactly the term “a dab hand” is supposed to mean.

"Dab hand" - very British term for "a person who is an expert at a particular activity". Having provided clarification I repeat my prediction.

I do love rice, especially "sticky" (Sushi) rice. One of my very favourite supper is a nice bowl of rice and baked beans.

Nope, my wife took firm control of our high-end combination washing machine / drier as soon as we got it and won't let me near it anymore. Same with our dishwasher, at least there I get to put the tab in and push the "start" button

All in all, yes. Though in general, high-rise buildings are pretty low on the preferred-habitation scale in Germany.

TPAM once spent several days in a hotel room located above the 40th floor.

I have visited several while travelling in Britain. I was especially enthralled with the baths in the eponymous city of the same name. The 'ruins' have been well-preserved.

TNP has a favourite Roman Emperor.

Don’t think much of any kind of royalty, but if it must be I would choose Marcus Aurelius (ruled 161 – 180 AD), as he was also something of a Stoic philosopher.

TPAM has a favorite queen or empress (need not be a British one).

Yes. I like Eleanor of Aquitaine. She wasn't always very nice, but her strength and resolve are greatly admired by many historians. She certainly kiboshes the Feminist Movement's declaration that they were responsible for the emancipation of women.

Now there’s a line of business I rate even lower than royalty / aristocracy! Though in one sense, it is a necessary evil, which is more than one can say for the swell-heads. And historically there has been an enormous overlap, or perhaps better spill-over, from aristocracy. Rarely a good thing.

I guess I’ll take Charles Elwood "Chuck" Yeager, retired brigadier general of the US Air Force, first man to fly supersonic 70 years ago (and the tough ol’ bird is still hanging in there at 94! Had something wrong about his having died in the 1990s). I have his 1985 autobiography, co-written by Leo Janos, which I find an excellent read because in many chapters there are sections titled “other voices”, in which his late first wife and lots of other people knowledgeable about the topic of the chapter are given a say. Guy started out as a private, with a West Virginia high school educational background, and ended up right up there with the greatest (test) pilots the US ever had, rising amazing high above his raising.

TNP has a favorite sports personality.

My all-time favourite was the late Jean Beliveau who led the Habs to several Stanley Cup wins. I had the good fortune to meet him when I was living in Montréal in the early 70's. He was a gentleman (read that both ways), and a true ambassador for the sport of hockey.

TNP has a favourite television personality.

None that would mean anything to you, as they are limited to German TV. Two guys with physics degrees (as is one of my favorite comedians / satirists!), one who went into TV fairly early, the other a professor (thus with a PhD) of theoretical astrophysics. Both have been and are hosts of diverse TV science shows, and both have written books (as the above-mentioned comedian also has). The astrophysicist’s books on cosmology are pretty stiff fare, requiring more than just a whiff of science, specifically physics, knowledge.

TNP has a favorite science author.

Seneca, the 1st-cetury Roman Stoic philosopher, a bit by default, as I almost only own (and have read) books on his philosophical writings (there is a pocketbook with some of Plat’s dialogues, but that’s no contest).

TNP has a favorite comedian and / or comedienne.
