Oscar Nominations announced

The major Oscar Nominations have just been announced, and can be seen at Oscar.com. Return of the King is up for eleven awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

CoE Needs Your Help

CoE has gotten many visitors over the past month, and we’ve gone over our allotted monthly allowance of bandwidth (i.e. traffic/visitors) — the site is going to be charged a steep fee because of this. In addition, as usual, we must pay $300 a month for server and software fees. We need your help now to help keep this site up and running.

PJ at the Golden Globes

Over at Stuff they have some excerpts from Peter Jackson’s acceptance speeches at the Golden Globe Awards. He said that it was a “huge thrill” to win the awards but was reluctant to speculate about the Oscars.

RotK Sweeps the Golden Globes

Return of the King has won all four Golden Globes that it was nominated for. Congratulations to the cast and crew for their great achievement!

Will RotK win at the Globes?

Will the Hot Mountain win over Cold Mountain? Lou Lumenick seems to think so. Cold Mountain has eight nominations, where RotK has four. It will be interesting to see who takes top spot. New York Post has more.

Win LotR movie props from Hasbro

Lord of the Rings stamps in the UK

Lord of the Rings stamps are being created in the UK. The Royal Mail website gives 26th February as the publication date. Stamp magazine reports they are being released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the publication of 2 of the trilogy books and will show illustrations rather than pictures from the films.

Win LotR collectible character coins

The WBAL Channel.com is hosting a competition to win a set of six collectors’ Lord of the Rings character coins. These are British Royal Mint legal tender, and feature Aragorn, Frodo, Gandalf, Sauron, Saruman, and Gollum. For the full article, and to enter, click here.
