Frodo’s alternative quest

To celebrate the Red Sox victory in the 2004 baseball world championships, Alan B. Cohen and Brandon Cohen have written, “Lords of the Ring, a modern parable for Red Sox Nation”.

The Lord of the Rings symphony in Des Moines

On 14th and 15th May the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra will be performing the Lord of the Rings symphony by Howard Shore.

The performances will be conducted by Howard Shore and will feature the Iowa Youth Chorus, Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir and the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus. There are further details here.

Harrogate honors Tolkien

To honor the time that Tolkien spent in the town of Harrogate in 1917, the Civic Society and town council have, this week, unveiled a commemorate plaque at 95 Valley Drive. You can read the full story at Harrogate Today.

The Lord of the Rings symphony in Baltimore

On 7th and 8th December the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will be performing the Lord of the Rings symphony by Howard Shore. The performances will be conducted by John Mauceri and will feature the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Maryland State Boychoir and Susan Egan, vocalist. There are further details here.

Viggo nominated for a People’s Choice Award

Nominations for the 31st Annual People’s Choice Awards have been announced and Viggo Mortensen has been nominated in the “Favorite Male Action Movie Star” category. You can cast your vote at pcvote.com.

The award ceremony will air on CBS on 9th January at 9pm ET.
