Lord of the Rings exhibition in Sydney

The closing date for the LotR exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia has been extended from 26th March to 3rd April. The museum is also screening all three of the movies. FotR will be shown on 26th March, TTT on 27th March and RotK on 28th March. There are further details at the museum’s website here.

Casting the Lord of the Rings musical

Following on from the news that the LotR musical will premiere in Toronto, theglobeandmail.com has a story about how local actors are hoping to land a part in the new production.

Lord of the Rings – the musical

The world premiere of The Lord of the Rings musical will take place in Toronto in March 2006. The music is being written by AR Rahman and Varttina. According to director Matthew Warchus, “The production will be a hybrid of text, physical theatre, music and spectacle never previously seen on this scale”. The Daily Telegraph has a short report on Peter Jackson’s recent talk in Sydney, Australia, at which he showed some of the bloopers from the LotR movies. These included Aragorn machine gunning some of the bad guys!

Three or four years to The Hobbit?

Herald Sun report that when asked how long it would be before he started production on The Hobbit, Peter Jackson replied, “Three or four years would be accurate, I would say.”

Note: Before the film can be made there are still issues that need to be resolved relating to the rights to The Hobbit.

Abbey Road Film Festival, London, UK

2005 is the 25th anniversary of Abbey Road studios involvement in film scoring and to mark the occasion the studio is holding a film festival from 19th March to 3rd April.

There will be screenings of a number of films associated with the studio including the LotR films. The screening dates are: FotR – 19th, 27th & 30th March, TTT – 20th, 28th & 31st March, RotK – 21st & 29th March, 1st April. There are further details at abbeyroad.co.uk.
