Vanimeldë was the daughter of Tar-Telemmaitë. When she took the sceptre she became the third of the Ruling Queens of Númenor and the sixteenth ruler of Númenor.

Vanimeldë cared little for ruling the land and delighted mostly in music and dance. The power of the sceptre was wielded by her husband Herucalmo who was a descendant of the Line of Elros through Tar-Atanamir.

Upon the death of Tar-Vanimeldë, Herucalmo took the sceptre and called himself Tar-Anducal. He withheld the sceptre from his son until his death in 2657 SA. Some do not count Anducal as the seventeenth of the Kings of Númenor though and pass instead to his son borne by Tar-Vanimeldë, Tar-Alcarin.

Tar-Vanimeldë held the sceptre for 111 years and was succeeded for a time by her husband Herucalmo. The sceptre finally passed to her son Tar-Alcarin in SA 2657.
