Durninad was alone at the edge of camp digging through his pack. "It is a good thing I brought all of my maps with me on this venture." he said aloud to himself as he pulled a brown leather bag out of his pack. As he did this a scroll fell out of the bag, "I would not want to lose that." he said as he stuffed the scroll back into the bag. He pulled out of the bag a large number of maps and dropped them neat the light of the fire. "Ah, here it is..." he said as he picked out his hand-drawn map of the White Mountains. On the map were many trails carefully marked and many notes scribbled on the edges of the map. "There..." he said, pointing to a trail marked in blue ink, "that is our road tomorrow." With that he put the other maps in the leather bag and put the bag in his pack. Instead of falling asleep, he stayed awake, memorizing the map.

Eodred walked up to Durninad as he studied his maps. "I do not know why the Princess decided to follow you into those mountains." He started. "I don't trust them. I have been told dark tales of those peaks. None the less that is the road she wishes to take, and as the head of her military escort I must follow her and keep her safe. Tell me about this road we will take."

Durniand had been studying the map in front of him so much that he was surprised to see Eodred. For a while he wondered how Eodred had found him. Durninad looked back down at the map, saying, "Eodred, all roads in Middle Earth are dangerous. I know that by experience. You learned that earlier when the wargs attacked." Durniand looked up at Eodred, "Whether you make it to your destination or not, depends on how skilled of a traveler are." Durninad, smiling, looked back down at the map, hoping that his indirect answer to Eodred's question was good enough for Eodred.

Eodred started fumming. "The princesses life hangs in this decsion. Every one of these travellers has basic military training, but I do not want to take unnessary risks. If you don't appriate that then fine. No one seems to want my opinion even though I am the head of security. Fine then you continue your little game, but I place the responcibility for these peoples live on you. And If anything happens to the princess, if even one hair is damaged. I will personnally make sure your body is found in Fangorn. " With that Eodred turned and marched off.

((OOC: Sorry I've not been posting. I've been experiencing some computer problems. Everything is fixed now and I'm back for good.))

Nariel looked at the woman before her. She tilted her head, deep in thought, then spoke softly. "I have traveled through these mountains only a few times before, and I know there is a great darkness lingering among them. I trust Durninad, and know he's wise and very knowledgable about the things he speaks of. Some of the creature, and the wizardry you find there is like that of no other place. But after all, no where on middle earth is exactly safe now. The road is long and dangerous I am sure. But only the strong survive in this life." Nariel paused and took a breath, biting her tongue, and then placing her hand on her sword. "You have nothing to worry about." She then stood, turned around, and walked away.

((sorry i haven't been posting, everyone! Ive been EXTREMELY busy and haven't been on too much!!!!! IM BACK THOUGH!))

Kael stood outside, gazing still at the stars above him, Drizzet curled comfortably on his shoulders. The young man's eyes scanned the skies as he spotted constallations, smiling slightly as he leaned on a tree and thought of Faralin...he'd never seen such a lady in his short years.

'But..' he thought to himself, '..what if the feelings are not mutual? What then, Kael?'

Drizzet looked at Kael, as if the ferret knew the man's thoughts, and squeaked quietly, glancing to Faralin with his beady black eyes, as if telling Kael he should be more talkative.

"No, Drizzet..." Kael said softly, "...let's just wait a while...see what she thinks, hm?"

Drizzet shook his head and flicked his fluffy tail, curling up again and grumbling squeakily to himself, as if saying "Stupid human...stop being so quiet all the time!!!!!"

Kael sighed and watched the horses as they grazed in the night, still smiling faintly, green eyes just visible from under his hood as the moonlight reflected off of them...

((ooc: Egad! I've been gone too long!))

Faralin stood in the cool air until the silence between her and Kael became too awkward to bear. "Very well," she said, "I will speak to my lady about getting you a horse." She patted Drizzet goodbye and walked quickly away to the tents. She thought at first that Kael felt for her, but now she could not tell. If only he weren't so quiet, she thought. Or maybe I'm just too loud. Sighing, she pulled back the flap of Emeldir's richly decorated tent and ducked inside.

Her friend was lounging on a pile of wolfskins, and seemed to be deep in thought. Faralin went to her and removed the last few pins from her hair, began to brush it out. It looked like spun sunlight.

"That Kael boy..." Faralin said, casually, "wishes for a horse to take him through the mountains. With your leave I'll let him choose one from among the dead soldiers'." She saw Emeldir's knowing look, but didn't respond. She was in no mood to be teased, especially when the man in question might not know she was alive. So she didn't respond, just readied the princess' bedroll and waited for a reply.

Emeldir smiled as Nariel left. But then sloumly fell on her bed. The stress she was feeling was unbearable. She lay on her bed hugging her pillow burying her face into her covers. The soft fur covers. She lifted her head as Faralin entered. She sat up as Faralin walked over to her. Faralin took the last pins that Emeldir could not reach or find out of her hair. Then started brushing her hair. "That Kael boy..." Faralin said, casually, "wishes for a horse to take him through the mountains. With your leave I'll let him choose one from among the dead soldiers'." Uiallin took a deep breath. "Of course." She called for her gentleman waiting outside. "Tell the boy with the ferret Kael that he may borrow one of the horses of the lost soliders, but when we return to Rohan he must give it back to the family of the lost solider." The gentleman bowed in responce and left to deliver the news. Emeldir sighed and leaned back on her friend. "Hopefully tomorrow we will be home in Edoras..."

"Very well," said Faralin, "I will speak to my lady about getting you a horse." She patted Drizzet goodbye and walked quickly away to the tents.

"Thank you, milady," said Kael politely, bowing low and letting Drizzet up onto his shoulders, sighing faintly and then leaning back on a tree. As soon as Faralin was out of sight he slapped himself in the head, muttering "STUPID! Talk more, Kael, you fool..." under his breath and walking amongst the horses.

He smiled at the large grey draft warhorse that stood beside him and rubbed his nose gently as the horse sniffed at the man's face.

Kael sat in the grass, crosslegged, in the middle of the circle of grazing horses, leaning back on a tree behind him as he closed his eyes and sat listening to the soft whisperings of the equine race. Drizzet curled himself comfortably in Kael's lap, wrapped his tail around himself and fell fast asleep, and it was doubtful that he would wake by himself anytime soon..

As Emeldir sent a messenger to Kael, Faralin allowed a small smile to creep across her face. Since she was a young child, nothing, even the death of her mother, could keep her down for long...

Emeldir leaned back against her, and Faralin, deep in though, almost fell off the thick bedroll. "Oh no you don't!" she laughed. "I have my own bed to turn to, I'm not about to stay and be your pillow!" But despite her loud protests, she gave her friend a hug. "Sleep." She said gently. "Things will not always be so hard for you." Then she breezed from that tent and into her own, just next door. She flopped on her own bedroll, and was soon deep asleep.

Silence spread around the camp - lamps were turned down and candles blown out until at last nearly everyone was wrapped up in dreams. And then, they crept from the woods.

Emeldir laughed at her friends protest. "Hey I'm the princess remember what I say goes." She hit her friend with a pillow then Faralin gave her a hug and left. Emeldir got on her knees and prayed for guidence in their coming journey. Then she curled up under her covers and fell asleep dreaming of her beloved Elfwine. Eodred stood fumming near the outer boundry of the campground. He was too angry to sleep, too angry at that cocky princess and her litle crew. Everyone had gone to sleep by now. He posted gaurds all around the huge camp. He leaned against a cart bitter toughts in his mind. They remianed in his mind as he slowly started drifting off into sleep. Suddenly he snapped awake. "Eodred come quickly" Eodred ran towards the yell. The guard who sounded the call stood pointing into the forest. "Look!" Shape were moving out of the forest, of what Eodred did not know, but it couldn't be good.

Kael's slumber lasted no longer than about a half an hour when he awoke with a start to Drizzet skittering about on his shoulders and squeaking violently.

"Drizzet..." Kael muttered groggily, attempting to shake the sleep from his eyes, "...ai...what is i--" he stopped in midsentence... something or someone lurked in the shadows...

As Kael stood and tucked Drizzet into the ferret's riding pouch, he heard the guards calling out to Eodred...Kael kept a hand gripping his swordhilt, glancing around and walking from the herd of horses where he'd had his short rest.

There were shapes moving from the forest...that didn't bode well...

Nariel stood on the edge of the forest, her head inquizitively tilted to the side. She had noticed a darkness growning over the land hours ago, and it hadn't been long before she noticed the shadows in the forest beginning to multiply. She stoood merely feet from the heard of horses and spoke softly when she heard someone approaching her from behind. "Kael. This is bad... Very bad." Just as she spoke Naveho swooped down and hovered above her, waiting for her to extend an arm. The bird landing and she pet it, whispering to it in elvish. A few moments later she tossed the bird into the air to fly above the treetops. She turned to face Kael. "We shouldn't be here."

Durninad had not slept. He thought awhile about what Eodred had said, and Durninad came to the conclusion that there was truth in what Eodred had said. Durniand already felt responsible for the deaths of the three riders who died in the warg attack. While thinking hard, he looked off into the darkness that surrounded that camp. He then suddenly saw shadows moving about within the darkness. Slightly alarmed, Durninad swung his pack on his back and readied his sword and shield. "We can't stay here, we must go by the mountain road tonight." Durninad said to himself as ran through the camp.

He ran into Eodred saying, "Eodred, we must get the princess in the mountains now. There is no other option."

Just then, the orcs emerged in front of the two men, weapons drawn...

Eodred had already sent messangers into the camp telling all soliders to come to the front line and to have all others awoken. He knew what was coming. When Wargs appear Orcs are not far behind. He stood with his small army behind him waiting for a command. Eodred waited for the orcs to attack. They must do all they could to give the Princess time to flee. As he waited he noticed Kael and Nariel out close to orcs front line. "Get them out of here." Eodred wispered furiously to one of the nearby soliders. One the the soliders ran off to meet Kael, and Nariel. Eodred looked out into the forest. It was so dark he could hardly see.Where were they? seconds, minutes, hours he did not know how much time passed. Time was not on his side. He must do all he could to protect the princess. "Attack on my mark." He wispered to his men. Suddenly Durninad appeared behind him. "Eodred, we must get the princess in the mountains now. There is no other option." Just then an orc jumped out towards them welding a weapon towards Durninad. Eodred jumped infront of Durninad matching his weapon to the orcs. Thewaiting army saw their commander beginning a fight. With a mighty yell they all sprang into the battle. Eodred slayed the orc and turned to Durninad. "Go! Protect the princess and lead her to the mountains, or if you will not pull out your weapon and fight. " Eodred turned just as an Orc approached him in battle, and started dueling with the creature.

Emeldir stood on the balconey looking out upon Minas Tirith. Her mother stood behind her with her arm around Emeldir's shoulders. "This is your country. This is where your blood lyes. Why have you and your sister left the lands of the Numenor. " Her mother said. Her mothers voice was soft and far off. "We left for love *atar." Emeldir answered. Her mother pull her closer. "The honor of Numenor you would abandon for love. This is were you heart should ly. In the land of your fathers. " Emeldir shook her head. The balconey and city of Minas Tirith disolved and the palace in Edoras appeared. Emeldir and her mother now stood on the steps of the palace. looking out on the green hills of the riddermark. Emeldir swept her hand across the scene. "This where my heart lyes atar..." A crown appeared on Emeldir's head. "And where my husband lives." She turned and faced her mother. "You told Beren that I was meant to be a queen. I fell in love with the son of King Eomer. " Her mother took a step closer to her. "You could have married the son of King Elassar." Emeldir shook her head. "I do not love him atar." Emeldir's mother smiled, and took Emeldir's face in her hands. "Which is a it should be. I am sorry I left you before you could grow. You were a small baby then. But you have turned into a fine woman. I am proud of you young one." Her mother leaned closer to her to kiss her when suddenly Emeldir awoke from being shaken. "My lady!" One the the gentlemen said "My lady we are under attack we must leave now!" She sprang out of her bed. "Attack from who?"He gulped as if not wanting to admit it was happening. "Orcs" She pushed him out of the tent "Tell the other. Start the evacuation tell everyone to ride as fast as they can towards the mountains. GO!" Once he was gone she started looking for her riding gear. Although she would ride bareback if need be. She did not see the orc sneak into her room as she looked for her saddle. Suddenly she was grabbed from behind. Her arms were pinned to her side, she tried to kick but he held her fast. His discusting claw like hand covered her mouth so though she scream no one could hear her. "You should fetch a pretty penny I must say." the orc wispered into her ear. His breath alone could have killed her. She struggled, her screams were muffled by his horrid hand as he carried her away from the camp into the night."

Faralin rolled over. Curse those soldiers, drinking and carrying on when she needed her sleep...

A thick black arrow sailed through her tent, bringing her back to reality. Instantly alert, she slid off the bedroll, keeping low in case of more arrows. She now realized that that noise in the distance was the sound of fighting, not partying. Faralin could hear the hoarse bellowing of orcs in the din. Shuddering, she grabbed her knife and ran outside.

Emeldir's tent was aflame - a candle must have been overturned in the commotion. Faralin screamed for her friend and peered through the smoke, but she could see no one. She tried not to panic; Emeldir could easily have run out when the fire began. Faralin grabbed the travelling pack from her own tent before it caught on, as well. As she hurried through the cool night, she thought she heard a muffled cry.

"Emeldir!" she shrieked, but there was no reply, just the faint outline of two figures disappearing in the trees... Faralin scrambled to reach them, but was much too far behind. A soldier caught her. "My lady, come this way. Durninad is leading the nobles into the mountains."

She did not reply, but threw him roughly off her and sped away. There was only one person she knew with enough skill and determination to track Emeldir down. No matter what they thought of each other, they would have to cooperate now. "Eodred!" She ducked nimbly through the battle to find the man. "They've taken Emeldir! They've stolen the princess!"

(eesh...sorry, people! May be a bit of a late post, but i'll catch up! ^_^)

Kael already had his longsword unsheathed as the orcs rushed into the camp. One by one he cut down all that stood in his path as they rushed towards him, snarling viciously and brandishing their scimitars.

Drizzet peeked out from his hiding place in the pouch and squeaked, ducking back in as another orc rushed towards them. Kael met blades with the orc and then took it down, rushing off again as he did so. He hoped the others were all right...

Durninad did not want to withdraw from the fight, because it was not his style. But it was his duty to get Emeldir to Edoras. Experience taught him act quickly in these situations. Durninad grabbed a soldier and ordered him, "Gather all of the nobles and have them meet me at the princess' tent," the man hesitated, "Go now!"

Just as Durninad was about to leave for Emeldir's tent, Faralin appeared, saying, "They've taken Emeldir! They've stolen the princess!"

"Were have they taken her?" Durninad asked immediately.

blood dripped from a cut on Eodreds forhead. One of his soliders was lossing a battle with an orc. Eodred ran over to assists. Eodred raised his sword and in one quickly move severed the head of the orc off it's shoulders. He helped his solider up. "Have heart we must distract them long enough to save the princess." The solider nodded then turned and engaged another orc. Eodred turned around to find Faralin and Durninad standing in front of him. "What are you doing her maid?!" Eodred yelled at her. "This is no place for a lady in waiting." Before she could say anything he grabbed her arm, and pulled her closer to him. He hugged her to his chest and put his arm around her. Then with one fell swipe cut the orc that was about to kill her in half. "Now what are you doing her?" He asked her after letting her go. "They've taken Emeldir! They've stolen the princess!" she said frantically. "WHAT!" Eodred yelled. "Who?!" "Were have they taken her?" Durninad asked immediately Eodred took Faralin's hand. "Lead me!" He yelled as they started running over the feild.

Emeldir kicked, struggled, and scream as much as she could, but it was no use. They were going deeper and deeper into the forest. Emeldir noticed they were travelling very far out. Farther then the place were the orc platoon had been. She had been captured by a rogue orc. One who was now working on his own. He ran faster then she had seen any creature on two legs travel. Deeper and deeper they plunged into the forest. Eventually the orc stopped for a rest. He luaghed creully at her attempts to free herself. "I don't know hwo you are." The horrid orc said to her. "But I bet someone will pay graciously for your return." She suddered at the fell of his horrible skin against her face. "Indeed she will." Came a voice from in the trees. Suddenly and arrow appeared out of the upper branchs and pierced the orcs heart. Emeldir fliched as the arrow scratched her arm leaving a scar. The orc went limp. Emeldir tried to entangle herself quickly and run, but before she could two men jumped from the trees and captured her. Another man jumped from the trees and landed beofre her. "Hello my lady and welcome to our bandit forest. We are honored to have you here and knew you will fetch us a good price. " Emeldir struggled. "Who are you? What do you want of me?" The man laughed. "Who we are does not matter now. And as for what we will do with you well let's just say thisIf one of our boys does not want to keep you then, and I doubt that will happen you will wither be ransomed or..." He stepped closer to her, and touched her cheek "Sold on the slavemarket." Her eyes widened, and she screamed in horror. The men holding her started to drag her away. the third man laughed vicously as he covered their trail so none would know where they went.

Leading Eodred by his blood-soaked hand, Faralin raced away from the battlefield so quickly she scarce felt her feet touch the ground. Durninad followed.

At last, they reached what was more or less the spot she saw Emeldir vanish. "Through there." she said. The two men immediately plunged into the thick woods. Eodred was so distressed, he forgot to forbid her to follow them.

The trio had to move slowly in the darkness, fending off thick undergrowth and thorny plants. Faralin jumped at every sound. The sky was beginning to lighten when they came upon the orc's carcass. They searched desperately, but the princess was nowhere to be found, nor was there a trail that they could follow.

While the men conferred on what to do next, Faralin's eyes fell on the arrow which had killed the orc. Fear nearly drowned her when she recognized the make. It took her a moment to find her voice. "The Red Dawn." She said, and Eodred and Durninad looked at her in surprise. "My father once had dealings with them. They are a band of thieves and mercenaries. Kidnapping is a pastime of theirs." Faralin shuddered at the thought of her sweet friend in their grasp. "We could not have found worse captors for Emeldir if we tried, even among the orcs." Faralin bit her lip, and could not say another word.

Eodred grabbed Faralin's arms and started shaking her. "Tell me all you know about these people. Everything, any little detail. You must tell me...."

The leader throw Emeldir into a room. They had taken her to some kind of hidden storehouse. She had no idea where she was. She what looked like a room in a cave. A four poster bed with red silk sheet stood in the corner. An old beaten chair and vanity were nearby. "I hope you enjoy this room dear lady. It is the best we have." He said cockily. Emeldir pulled herself onto the bed. "If you value your life you will release me." She said. Her voice shaking with rage. The leader proped his foot on a nearby trunk. "And why is that miss?" He said rashly. "All I will say is that if I am not returned to my party all the rohirrim in Rohan will be striving to spill your blood." She said furiously. She was tired of this game, tired of the terror. Her people were in danger, and she must get them and lead them home. The man laughed. "I see you must be a important lady to have all of Rohan after me for you. " He reached to touch her. She backed away from him. He laughed again "You will sway in time." He said. "Do not try to escape there is no escape from here. Soon you fate will be decided untill then welcome to the home of the Dawn."

Faralin wrenched herself from Eodred's grasp. She was so desperately afraid for her friend, she couldn't even come up with an insult. So she just began:

"From what I know, the Red Dawn began to form shortly after the War of the Ring. The handful of Haradrims and Easterlings who survived Sauron's fall took to the wilderness near Gondor. Many died within a year. They were unorganized, and leaderless. But slowly, they recriuted the petty theives and cutthroats of Minas Tirith and Osgiliath, my childhood home, and their numbers began to grow. My father-" She paused, but saw no way to avoid revealing the truth. "My father was a thief, but he was still a good man. He was approached one night and invited to join their ranks. He refused. He bears the scar they gave him as punishment to this day."

"No one really knows when they began to move westwards, into the wilds here, near the border of Rohan. Probably when Emeldir and I were small children... they had enough time to build a fortress of their own, called the Keep of the Sun. Or so the stories go. No one has seen this place, so it may only be a legend.... Either that, or no one has survived to tell the tale."

Eodred yelled in frustration. He fell to his knees and pounded the ground. He stayed there on the ground cursing the day he volenteered for this trip. Suddenly he looked up at Durninad. "I gave you the responsbility of protecting her." He said. He was so mad the words could barely be heard through his clenched teeth. "I said if she was harmed I would kill you myself. The day is not even done and already YOU HAVE LET HER BE CAPTURED" At the word captured he pounded the ground again, then he stood up and walked over to Durninad. "I know I will need your skills to find her. But after she is found and safe again. You will die." Eodred turned on Faralin. "Maid. Go back to the camp. If there be survivors tell them to start traveling towards Edoras as fast as they can. Then call for the elven maid. We will need her on this qeust."

Durninad rarely ever got angry, but this was one of those rare times. He shot back at Eodred, saying, "Your blaming me?! Was it not your men that failed to protect the princess?! Why did you not have any of your men guarding her?! Do not blame people for things they can't control. Do you know who you are threatening!"

Durninad was fed up with the man. Sometimes, Eodred seemed just plain ignorant at times.

"I will help, Eodred.." Kael spoke up, walking up behind the guard, "..I was trained in some tracking methods...and I would not see the Princess be harmed."

He looked at Eodred with no fear showing in his green eyes, and waited for a response as Eodred sent Faralin back to the camp, then heard his words to Durninad.

Drizzet poked his head out of the pouch in which he sat and seemed to glare at Eodred with his black beady eyes. Kael glanced down at the ferret and set a hand on the pouch, keeping his gaze on Eodred.

"We should be trying to find Emeldir, not standing around." Kael said boldly, "Now. Is there a plan of action or are we just going to wait around until something bad really does happen to her?" Kael didn't know where these words were coming from...he was normally very quiet and stayed off by himself, and barely ever spoke to people he didn't know well... perhaps he felt a need to help Rohan. To help them get back their Princess...

"I'll help get everyone out." Kael said after a moment of silence. He then walked towards camp, keeping his sword drawn as he went quietly to help gather the survivors of the orc attack...

(Eh...thought Kael needed some boldness in his attitude. )

Kael hurried back to tell the others. Faralin watched him go with what, in a happier situation, would have been a smug look on her face. Kael's courage had brought her to her own senses.

"Dear me," she said, turning to Eodred, "it seems I won't be needed at the camp after all." His face turned purple. Faralin walked up close to him then, and her tone was more gentle than she had ever used on him before. "We are all suffering here," she said, "the princess' loss grieves each of us. You will not help your guilt by lashing out at others." Faralin stood back, and addressed Durninad as well. "I will find the elf maid. When Kael and I return with her, we shall go." With that, she bounded off.

She caught up with Kael near the border of the woods. "Stay near me," she whispered, as Drizzet leapt onto her shoulder, "They cannot afford to leave you behind. If we return together, I may be able to help rescue my friend."

(ACK!!!!!!! I am SOOO sorry I haven't been posting!! I've been really really really busy!!!!!)

"Stay near me," Faralin whispered to Kael, "They cannot afford to leave you behind. If we return together, I may be able to help rescue my friend."

Drizzet leapt up onto Faralin's shoulder as she spoke, and Kael's fierce gaze at the orcs in the camp turned gentle as it rested upon Faralin.
"I will help as much as I can, milady," he replied quietly, "just tell me what you would have me do."
He was hooded and cloaked, his face could just barely be made out, the pale moonlight casting a light shadow over his now serious, handsome features.

He looked at Drizzet, and the ferret seemed very solem. Kael had never seen his little friend so serious before... it was as if he knew what was happening, his black, white ringed eyes scanning the camp from the shrubbery they stood behind.

Kael's longsword was gripped tightly in the man's hands, and his soft boots made barely a sound as he crept among the border of the woods beside Faralin.

When the two left, Durninad sat down exhausted. He stopped to think. He stood up and climbed up a sturdy tree. The tree was tall so he could see far in the distance on all sides. He looked west and saw the moon was beginning to disappear, "Good," he said to himself, "in the morning, it will be easier to asses the situation." He looked towards the camp, it looked chaotic in that direction. He hoped the others were OK. Durninad was about to climb back down, but he stopped, for he saw feint light in the distance, moving away. It got smaller and smaller until it faded into nothing. "Could it be a torchlight?" Durninad thought to himself. Sitting on a branch, he pondered his options, "Could the light have belonged to one of the captors of Emeldir? I could go that way and hope that I find her. But I could look here for any trace of their tracks." He sighed and climbed down the tree.

When halfway down the tree, he wondered if Eodred was still there. Durininad called Eodred's name as he went down the rest of the tree.

Emeldir sat on the bed in the room. A ragged blanket pulled tightly around her. She looked around the room for any chance of escape. There were no windows, and the only door was being blocked by guards. She looked for possible weapons. If only she had her hunting knife, or her bow and arrows. But here there was nothing that she could use to fight her way out. She rested her head on her knees. “Remember the good.” She whispered to herself. They didn’t know she was the princess so they had to keep her alive to discover her value. She had been left alone mostly, so none of the bandits would bother her. She was hungry, but her army would come to kill them soon, so all she had to do was wait. “But then again….” A nasty voice in her mind said. “They were talking of selling you. You might be a slave in the southern lands before the rohirrim come, or worse a slave to one of these horrid men.” She gasped. “I have to get out of here.” She whispered to herself. Just then the curtain that served as the door to her room was pulled back and a young girl walked forward. She was holding a tray. The girl wore red, Her arms were exposed up to her shoulders, and a long slit went all the way from her hip to the ground. She had what first looked like a tattoo, but as she drew nearer Emeldir saw it was a brand on her neck. “My lady.” The girl whispered curtsying slightly. “I have brought you food. “ The girl looked back at the curtain, then drew closer to the princess and whispered. “I know you are the princess of Rohan. It is an honor my lady. I once lived in Rohan, my father was a farmer, and my brother a Rohirrim.” The girl stopped as if the next part of her story was too painful to recount. She swallowed and continued. ”Do not worry they will not kill or sell you. The leader Helan is entranced with you. You will be safe.” The girl laid down the tray of food on the bed and turned to leave. Emeldir stopped her. “Please help me. You must know a way out.” The girl shook her head. “I’m sorry I don’t” Emeldir stopped her again. “But you must know a way. My husband will reward you." " I’m sorry I can not get away myself I know of no way. There is no escape from the Red Dawn, this is your home now. I’m sorry.” With that the girl turned and walked out of the room.

MEANWHILE…..

Eodred sat on a log and waited for the girl, the boy, and the elf. Durninad climbed a nearby tree. “Stupid fool.” Eodred muttered to himself. If no sign could be seen on the ground no trace would be seen from the sky. He sat and thought about his those that had died on this mission, about their families, about his family. His wife and two sons at home. They depended on him, he would be discharged from the rohirrim because of this. He was no farmer, he could not support them if he lost his postion in the army. He sat enrapt in his thought of the future. “What happens now?....” He asked no one. He was suddenly pulled out of thought by Durninad’s voice asking if he was still there. “Of course I am.” Eodred answered. “Come back down the last thing we need is for you to break your neck.”

Durninad carefully slid down the rest of the length of the tree, and said, "It seems that the moon is setting which means the sun will raise soon. If we wait until then we may be able to see clues left behind by the captors, But that could mean waiting more than an hour for the sun."

"I saw at the top of the tree a light moving southeast in the distance heading away from us. It flickered like the light of a torch would. I would have to move quickly to find the source if the light if you will let me."

"My instinct tells me that we must move swiftly and use all possible clues at our disposal to find the princess. I am just asking your opinion on what we should do."

(Uiallin, you can have Eodred choose either option)

Eodred waved Durninad off. "If you think you can find the princess then go, but come to me before you recue her."
