difficut question: I'm pro-abortion, pro gay-rights, pro euthanasia (I am glad I live in Holland therefore) But I wouldn't claime to be a liberal, at least. According to the definition here it means few laws, the government doesn't do much unless it's absolutely necessary and lets the economic and the people develope themselves. I think that some people really need help from the government and therefore I'd be more left than right... I guess

Because of who I am and how I act, it would be a bit hilarious if I was conservative.

I actually used to put up a façade of being an über-religious right-wing conservative when I was younger as that was what was expected of me, but I was so very much liberal... I got sick of acting.

I m,ade a post in this thread before but then I didnt tell what I am.
I read that now and found that why should it be a secret?

We just had elections here in Sweden where I live and the rightwing parties won!

I consider that pretty awful since I am a communist.

We have a different system in Sweden than in America, for example, the liberals are considered to be consveravtive and the conservatives are waay more left than the conesveratives in UK or USA.

Im a communist.

The words have such different meanings in different contexts and parts of the world it's hard to tell if when some of us say "liberal" others think conservative.

Neither. I personally detest the use of such terms as it promotes mass non-thinking and party politics (ok that was a bit redundant).
I agree... when people ask me if I'm a Democrat or a Republican (same goes for the liberal/conservative question) I usually say I'm an independent or centrist. I try to stay away from party labels. I'm more of a slightly left-wing centrist with libertarian, socialist, and anarchist tendencies... it really depends on the issue.

Sounds to me like you're a democrat

I don't think I explained myself well... the socialist part mostly refers to the fact that I'd like universal health care in the US, and the libertarian and anarchist bits don't really fit what I had meant... which was mostly that I appreciate the free market for most things or, in normal terms, I'm a fiscal conservative... but I'd like to be the first person here to change my mind. I'm officially from the Confused Undecided Party.

Very broad terms indeed. I would consider myself very conservative, pro-life (some might call that anti-abortion), I believe in marriage between one man and one woman, that if we drill and get our oil in Alaska, we'd have all we needed and not have to buy oil from out of the country, and that animals were given to us primarily for food, not necessarily for protection by us.

I'm mostly conservative, but I have a lot of friends who are liberal. However, I tend to have slightly different views than any major sect has and I don't follow any guidelines. I suppose it really depends on the issue.

I am very aggressively non-partisan...but I must admit, I dislike Sarah Palin. Her kids are such jerks. They have the reputation of being the worst-behaved kids in Alaska, and they live up to it.

I agree with the Lady Eowyn here. I consider myself a pragmatic progressive indepentent. I don't buy into party dogma, but sometimes agree with certain positions either party may have.

Its usually the free-thinking independents that decide elections. With two major parties, you have the roughly 40% party stooges that buy into the party dogma and will vote party lines no matter what, leaving roughly 20% pragmatic free-thinkers who actually look at issues and current events and decide accordingly.

I don't know. Some things I'm very 'pro' for but then again there are things that I am extremely 'anti'. And then there are even things that I don't care about. Everything has it's place, war, plague, government, life, love. It doesn't mean that people need to get in other's face and force their views upon them. That is probably why I do not like Obama's healthcare plan much, only thing that I like about it is the fact that it raised the age for young adults to stay on their parent's plan for a few extra years. But besides that I'd be happy if they stop panicking about guns, raising taxes, and them to learn how to stay on budget. (See now here I went off on a tangent...sorry.)

Definitely conservative. As an American getting ready to vote, I'd love to see Paul Ryan run for president. I honestly am extremely disappointed in Obama, not that I had any hopes when he became president. He seems to have little or no backbone whatsoever, and his ideas are mostly, if not all bad. I also dislike his approach to gun control, as I support the 2nd Amendment.

I too support the Second Amendment. And it really drives me crazy the way they are trying to completely get rid of guns. And down here in the South, kids grow up around guns. They learn how to use them at an early age. Apparently, they think just because some maniac decided to have a big shoot-'em-up that outlawing guns will make it all better. Well, somehow, the bad guys always end up getting their hands on guns anyway. Like in Brazil, guns are illegal over there, and yet the robbers and "Bad guys" still have them.

Agreed Mareth, there's no real good way to protect yourself with how Obama and some of the current legislature are trying to tackle gun control. In my opinion most of the people should have some form of a weapon to protect themselves from the 'Bad Guys'. That should make the 'Bad Guy' think twice before attacking, since he or she would not know who actually had a gun. Also, what about cars and steak knives they kill many people in a year, those aren't banned, nor are some of the items that could be used to make a bomb.

True Gun control is to use both hands.

Well, most of them are more concerned about their own pockets, and their own protection rather than that of the people. It sucks but that's how it is. We can only 'try' to elect officials who don't care about lining their pockets and try to work on what they can to help the people who elected them in the first place.

I know that there is at least one in office (Doug LaMalfa from California) that listens to things such as what I said but it's hard for them to get anything to go forward when they are fighting everyone else....

my mom is looking into some libertarianism (sp?). she disagrees with the big government because the government was never designed to be what it is now. it was designed to protect us from invaders. but there are a few things that she doesn't agree with, but i think she is looking into it.

On guns...

I have noticed that the biggest massacres take place in states that have STRICTER gun control laws. For instance, Texas, 1991, and more recently, Colorado,2012, and Conneticut, 2012. And those are just some of the states, there are many more.

On libertarianism...

I have a friend who didn't like either presidential candidate (don't blame him), so he voted libertarian. It sounds interesting, but I'm gonna start the Federalist Party from the 1780s and 1800s. If i got into politics...not sure I'm quite crazy yet lol.
