Why Gandalf did! That's why he sent Frodo to Mordor, so that Frodo would die there and he could snatch the Ring for himself!! Sauron is his evil henchman. Gandalf is the mastermind behind the whole deal.

He actually is a messed up mix between and orc and a goblin. He was hidden so Saurons mistake wouldn't be known to the world.

Grima had a fish fettish and wanted to secretly marry Gollum because of their shared love for fish and Saruman never let him run away.

Sam was beginning to fall in love with Frodo. Frodo thought it disgusting so he left. He was very upset when he found out that Sam wanted to tag along. Later on, right before Frodo, Gollum and Sam entered Shelob's cave, he was very happy to send him away. He finally had an excuse to get rid of the annoying Hobbit.

Because a long time ago his friend's uncle's cousin's sister thought he it would be a good idea to dress him up in a tutu. Kili disagreed (for obvious reasons) but while he was trying to take it off he got in a fight with his friend and thus, his face was distorted. (By the way, Kili is not ugly!)

Why didn't the Fellowship travel to Mordor on the Great Eagles' backs?

Because (Gandalf hates to admit this) but he is terribly afraid of eagles and only uses them at his greatest need. One of the eagles bit off his toe when he was a young wizard when he tried to ride one in a daredevil attempt to impress a girl. Silly Gandalf could have saved the company a lot of time.

They were all secretly depressed and they all hated their lives. So they were basically ready to kill themselves and they did. They wanted to die for somewhat of a good cause.

Why did Gollum jump into the lava with the ring, even though he was smart enough to know he would die?
