The nominations for The World Soundtrack awards have been announced. There are no nominations for either RotK or Howard Shore in the Best Original Soundtrack of the Year or Soundtrack Composer of the Year categories. However, Into the West has been nominated in the Best Original Song Written for Film category.

A survey about The Return of the King carried out by the University of Wales in Aberystwyth has become the biggest piece of social research of its kind ever, with over 25,000 people responding. In a recent poll 1000 adults were asked to name their favourite children’s book when they were growing up. The top spot went to the Famous Five adventure stories by Enid Blyton. Lord of the Rings was placed sixth with The Hobbit in eighth place. You can read the full story at tvnz.co.nz.
