Hmmm... any one of Pippin's, of course. Oh! Heres a good one.

"I don't see why he's so upset! It's only a couple of carrots."
"And some cabbages. And the mushrooms! And that nice sack of potatos we lifted last week!"
"YES, Pippin! My point is, he's obveously overreacting!"

Wow! You guys sure did cover most of all the good quotes! So many good quotes so hard to remember them all . Perhaps my favorite quote is Gandalfs

"Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbos hand. Pity and Mercy: not to strike without need. And he was well rewarded, Frodo. Be sure that he took so little hurt from the evil, and escaped in the end because he began his ownership of the Ring so. With pity. (not in the movie but very good)

Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends
Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends

Very awsome quotes and something to seriously ponder.

It's not my favourite quote, but it's the one i drive my friends mad with the most often
"If you want him, come and claim him"
because whenever I pick up my metal ruler from the desk, it makes the same sound as when Arwen draws her sword.

Yes, but as someone pointed out above somewhere, the movie is just one long string of great quotable lines!

Then when TTT comes out we can all do the same thing again with it!! Only seven months to go!!! ONLY....!!! ICHW!!

for me, I just love this, Strider reveals himself to Frodo.............it is just brilliant:

Strider:
You draw far too much attention to yourself, Mr Underhill.
Frodo:
What do you want?
Strider:
A little more caution from you, that is no trinket you carry.
Frodo:
I carry nothing.
Strider:
Indeed. I can avoid being seen if I wish. But to disappear entirely. That is a rare gift. (he pinches the candles in the room to put them out, and takes off his hood)
Frodo:
Who are you?
Strider:
Are you frightened?
Frodo:
Yes.
Strider:
Not nearly frightened enough. I know what hunts you.

The whole dialogue between Frodo and Gandalf after Frodo spots Gollum. Expecially the comment about dealing out death in vengence.

Ah! No scenes from Imladris?

Arwen: Your time will come. You will face the same evil, and you will defeat it. A si i-Dhúath ú-orthor. U or le a ú or nin. (The Shadow does not hold sway yet, not over you and not over me.

Arwen: I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.

Elrond: The ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli son of Gloin by any craft that we here possess. The ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came.

My favourite quotes, in such powerful moments.

Welcome, Fíriel! I haven't had a chance to say hello to you yet , so will take the opportunity to do so now... if you haven't already, you might want to stop by The Prancing Pony and visit the "Getting to know you" topic. I just got here this morning myself, so figured I'd better make sure all my puppies here were still in the box (so to speak...) before I go post-reading elsewhere. If you need help on anything, just ask... everyone's great about that here!

Oh, and Legolas and Elladan in RotK when they're talking about seeing the dead. I kept on imagining Legolas looking up at Elrohir and whispering, "I see dead people."

*** big laugh!*** Ve-e-r-ry good, Silviel! It's always nice to get a fresh twist... and I needed a good laugh!!

Darn it, though... now when I do see RotK, that'll pop into my mind... another 'inappropriate' laugh... like "and in the darkness bite them" that Gandalf mis-speaks in FotR... I always laugh!

LOL Silviel!!
Ellerina??!!
Bite them?? Bite them!!!
hahahaha!!! *Cries*

One of my favorite quotes is the "My brother, my capitain, my king," and the dialouge that goes before it. Also, I loved when Haldir says: "a dwarf breathes so loudly we could shoot him in the dark." That was just how I pictured him to be! But my absolute favorite was at the begining, when Pippin and Merry stole the fireworks:
Pippin: There!
Merry: You're suposed to stink it in the ground!
Pippin: It is in the ground!
Merry: Outside!
Pippin: This is your idea!

I love that part!

This is such a great movie!!

I am still amazed at the depth of it!! A few of the funny parts are errors, like the last line of the Ring inscription being pronounced by Gandalf as "And in the darkness BITE them...", but then there are lots of funny situations otherwise, too! Both the books and the movie keep me laughing and crying, but to be able to use Pippin's cute face and ad libs just makes it better. There's more humor in the movie!! I love it !!

How the heck can you focus on just one? As someone stated earlier, the whole movie is memorable! This was a VERY powerful film that can stir the emotions like nobody's business! Any film that can suck it's audience into it in such a way is a guaranteed winner! I saw the thing 4 times and STILL got choked up in some parts

Now. As I like everything that has gone before, I will add another-

Before Gandalf falls into the abyss... "Fly you fools!"

Oh man! Almost forgot! Galadriel's intro at the beginning of the movie. REALLY sets the mood! I love her!

It always sent shivers down my spine when Arwen took Frodo on the flight to the ford- so i guess my favourite quote would be: 'If you want him, come and claim him!'.
Gandalf said "Don't you leave him, Sam WiseGamgee", and I don't mean to, Mr. Frodo, I don't mean to-
thats bit is cool too

Well I love all of the quotes you have mentioned! I love Galadriel's intro, especially when she says...

"...but they were all of them deceived."

Noone can say deceived better than her!!

And I love it when Merry and Pippin insist at the Council of Elrond that they join the Fellowship and Pippin ends the scene by saying,

"Where are we going?" in his adorable scottish accent.

The books are way better but I still LOVE this movie !

After living at the movie theater seeing LOTR nonstop since December...I must say that my favorite quote is somewhat of a tie between:

Legolas: They Lament for Gandalf..
Aragorn: What do they say?
Legolas: I have not the heart to tell, for me the grief is still too near.

AND....

Frodo: I am going to Mordor alone!!!
Sam: I know! And I'm coming with you!!

There are too many greta lines to choose just one. Here are my favorites:

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." (followed by the priceless looks of the Hobbits at Bilbo's party. I crack up whenever I seen that scene, mostly because they look like my math teacher just made a joke)

"Gondor has no King. Gondor needs no King."

"I will take the ring...but I do not know the way."

"A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins; nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."

"Hey merry dol..." (poor, poor Bombadil, I wanted to see him in the movie   )

"Swords will be of no more use here, Aragorn."

"What's that?"
"This, my friend, is a pint."
"They come in pints? I'm getting one!"
"But you've already had a full half, Pippin!"

the whole Shelob part, that ALWAYS has me on the edge of my seat

Gollum's fish song! I always crack up at that part

Frodo's song at the Inn of the Prancing Pony (I've almost memorized it all!)

Speaking of Weathertop...

I just love it when, after Frodo steps on the fire, ("Put it out, you fools!") And Pippin says: "That's nice! Ashes on my tomatoes!"
Gotta love it.

Okay..I thought of another great one...
When Elrond says "I was there Gandalf, i was there the day the strength of men failed"

Then when he relives the memory of taking Isildur up to Mount Doom and told him to cast it into the fire, and Isildur just looks at him..smiles and says "No." IT CRACKS ME UP!!!!!! I love the little defiant smile..and then the simple 'no'
