This is one of my favourite poems... that I wrote myself. There's also this one poem, my absolute favourite. About Daffodils (they also happen to be my favourite flowers ), and I looked for it on several sites. Do any of you know where I can find it?

Spirit of Fëanor
His spirit still dwells
In the Halls of Mandos
Lit still by the fire
Within him, bright
and full lit with passion
and determination

His hands yearn for
tools of craft
His heart wishes
To see the light of
The silmaril once more
And then his spirit
Would be content

But, alas! It is not
so instead he is
Filled with grief
Tears of remorse
Falling from his
Eyes so clear
His fair face buried
In his hands

Oh! The Valar so cruel!
Why must he suffer so?
He only followed his heart
Is that now how it should be?

I will until the end of time
When the seas swallow the land
When the stars burn out
And the sky collides
I only wish to see my
beloved pardoned
Until then...hold me in
your heart and soul

Wordsworth wrote a famous poem about daffodils.

"Daffodils" (1804)

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

Aiya! Great poems everyone has written, they're really good.
Here's a poem by me. Hope you'll like it!

She saw a light
in the dark
A light so bright and clear
It was a star
high above
So far, but yet so near

Hm...OK VILYATOOK I'LL TAKE YOUR CHALLENGE!!!

man i was away

stream of consciousness.....hm.....

A light, a land, a lost one wronged
To humbled be glory and darkness longed
A stream of laughter and a river of song
And sitting there, stilled, the flowers among

My fears, my strengths, my loves and hates
I detest the proud and honor the weak
Or so it seems, I have not yet done
And laughter is dimmed in my heart

What glory is there in pride and hatred?
I ask myself amidst the ferns
I'm conscious of my errings, I thought to myself
But am I truly, or the Fox and the Grapes?

Clearly now, I see my err
That haughtiness, madness, revenge unredeemed
And at last the time has come for song
A star, a bright light in the darkness

Farewell, black shadow, beast of dusk
The final note lasts in my keeping
To taste the freedom of summer longing
But the sarcasm sets in my jaw

:twitch: that really didn't make sense. But I can edit it later. Was that what you meant when you said 'stream of consciousness'? you are so going to win

That was great! It doesn't really have to make sense for stream of consciouness. It's just whatever pops into your mind. Hmmm, I've actually never tried writing one myself. I might have to now. *runs off to get started*

I know what you mean-- I'm exactly the same way myself.!

*posts another poem* This is something I wrote when I was annoyed at my friends, for being such casual lotr fans. I wrote it in all of about 5 minutes..so the rhyme scheme is wacko..but hey!

It seemed so near, just yesterday
when LotR was a popular thing.
My parents encouraged, and my friends were "obsessed"
with elves, hobbits, dwarves, and of course, the One Ring.

Yet the movies are past, and my world has changed
no more hear I, of LotR, which was once a common demand
Now others forget it's magic and move on to
stuff like Harry Potter, Troy, and Spiderman.

What has happened? I wonder now
those people were never "true" fans
Now me, my friends tease for remaining behind
for not leaving LotR without so much as a glance.

The "eccentric and quirky" by gossips, I'm labelled now
for failing to meet the "popular" standards
But all is not lost, for I found a place
to talk of LotR--movies, books, even trading cards.

Yes, my beloved CoE, a wonderful site
with many smart and friendly people, eager to chat.
So now I can talk about LotR to my heart's content,
and almost anything else, from this to that.

Now I have many friends on CoE
and to find them you don't have to look far.
To everyone who's helped my life in some way,
Thank you!! (You know who you are!)

I'm not ready for what? I tried to write a stream of conciousness poem thingy, but I discovered that I'm really quite horrible at poetry that doesn't rhyme. It just ends up seeming like talking. So instead of putting you in a confused stupor, I decided to post this poem:

Lament
A song deep from the shadows,
your voice is all I hear
a haunting dream of melody
a chill recalling fear
the words that ever follow me
the hurt that won't relent
alas, I hear your voice still now
a painful, long lament
your love for me is with your life
lost into the unknown
if only I had died with you
you would not sing alone.

got bored and made this, so I though I'd share it with you:

Here are a few more of my Middle Earth poems.

The Five.

Two are gone into the east,
One wanders in wilderness,
One fell into darkness,
One still remains.

Radagast was first to leave the ship.
He ran onto the sand, danced by the sea,
Followed the wind inland, listening to birdsong.
Incorruptible Radagast, too entranced by the world to save it.

I followed, eager to get started, eager to return.
Home seemed so far away, the task so hard,
Yet the lands were beautiful, my friends dear.
I had much to learn and much to do.

Pallando stepped from the ship like a lord,
Glancing around to judge his new domain.
Then Radagast laughed at his proud stance
And Pallando threw sand and lost all dignity.

Saruman was next, he only smiled
As his eyes feasted on the beauty before him.
He turned to me and nodded, and the task seemed lighter
"We can do this!" his eyes said.

Alatar was last to leave the ship, wary and worried.
Pallando patted his shoulder and said,
"Where you go, I will go. Together, we will be strong."
Alatar nodded, and his smile lit his face.

Two are gone into the east,
One wanders in wilderness,
One fell into darkness,
One still remains.

Alatar and Pallando went into the east,
Whence no word comes, good or bad.
Their letters to Saruman ceased,
Or there were no messengers to bear them.

Radagast's love of hedge and briar,
Of linnet and sparrow, taught him to slip away.
He never forsook his purpose, but it mattered less,
Less than the new nest and the migrant returned.

Saruman grew accustomed to expediency.
He sought too often a softer route.
I was blind to mistake his pride for certainty,
A fool not to see he was corrupted.

Two are gone into the east,
One wanders in wilderness,
One fell into darkness,
One still remains.

I am alone in this, now that it matters,
Now that the five are needed, here is one!
I am not Olórin, who crossed the sea from Valinor,
But Gandalf, who is at home in Middle Earth.

I am alone, I said. It ill becomes me, this first lie.
In the firelight, I see my companions, each equal to the Istari.
This is my new brotherhood, chosen by Eru.
Perhaps this was intended from the start.

Middle Earth could not be saved by Maiar!
What did we know of the world before we came?
It needed the men of Gondor and Arnor,
The hobbits of the Shire, the elves and dwarves.

It needed an old man, Gandalf, not Olórin,
Whose eyes did not look west, but to the nearest face,
Whose heart found home at the hearths of others,
Who wanders the world as a pilgrim, not a lord.

Two are gone into the east,
One wanders in wilderness,
One fell into darkness,
But nine remain.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before Parting.
Until we stand there at the shore
I will not know what words may come
Or how I'll say farewell to one
Who held my hope when I was numb,
Who bore me when I could not stand
Across a dark and hopeless waste
And never turned away from me
Whatever evil thing we faced.
I'll weep, I know. Well, who would not?
You were my friend when friends were few,
Could I have picked from all who'd lived,
I'd find no better friend than you.
This journey cannot yet be yours
Though I will hope someday to see
A sail upon the shining waves
To bring dear Samwise there to me.
For now, I cannot bid you go,
Too many things now bind you here,
So I will weep, and so will you,
Yet there is beauty in our tears,
For we have seen the darkest things
That ever faced those doomed to die
Yet came alive back home and found
Our hearts are soft enough to cry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On the Eve of the Wedding.

Your hand in his, and all my world will shatter,
The parting I have dreaded comes at last
And I must leave, forsaking you forever
Or break faith with the one who westwards passed.

Your heart has lain within his hand much longer,
Your eyes could not see me when he was near
Your marriage cannot bring such grief as knowing
I kept you from him out of selfish fear.

Your happiness is still alloyed with sorrow
You have less fear of death than of my grief.
It's true, there is no healing that I know of,
No chance for this cleft heart to find relief.

But if in this new life that is beginning
You can know half the joy that I have known,
It will not seem so desperate a sorrow
That I am leaving Middle Earth alone.

His love for you I do not doubt or question,
Such love lives on and neither fades nor dies,
But I must greet your mother with these painful tidings
And watch the flame of hope fade in her eyes.

And I must say farewell, and wish you happy,
Though time and distance sunder us at last.
The west has never seemed so uninviting,
Or that fair sea so venomous and vast.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
May I join your poetry club?
This is one I wrote as I went along...
The North:
Of rolling hills and purple moors,
Flowing streams and trees,
Of grassy meadows and rocky crags,
That leave my heart at ease.
The call of the wilderness stirs my soul,
My home I am ready to leave,
These concrete towers bear no appeal,
My intentions are yet hard to perceive.
The blustering winds and annual rain,
The gloom of British weather,
Caress my body while I abide,
In my dwelling of grass and heather.
The grouse doth coo upon moorland heath,
The hunting fox prowls nearby,
Rabbits hide from their impending demise,
A kestrel hovers up high.
In woodland many places I can hide
Above ground,below or upon,
The plants produce food,a-plentiful,
Birdsong continues,ever and anon.
Upon the stony faces of mountains,
Many are the places to abide,
Rocky outcrops and darkened caves,
Where brightness and light hath died.
Every so often a path is found,
But not one of grass or soil,
Water flows,the life giving spring,
To ease one after much toil.
And scattered around the meadows be,
The home of many grasses,
Their long stalks moving like to waves,
There creatures come in masses.
These are the things I shall never leave,
Until my dying day,
The wild is my home,with it's many wonders,
And there forever,I'll stay.
Anyways, I had 5 minutes of spare time, so I made this...
You guys are free to use it, if you like. The URL of the image is http://www.councilofelrond.com/albums/album07/bardsofrivendell.jpg
i don't think anyone could write truly bad poetry. It's all what you think. I know that I always thought I was a bad writer, but when I started a fanfic it turned out that some people like it! So don't feel bad...
here's one I made up for the Realm of Varda.
Plague
As I walked along the stony path
Knowing nothing of the crime that led
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
And hither and thither throughout its ways
That led me astray, and so they laugh
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
I know it was you that brought me hither
And furthermore I knew what cometh
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
And long before the words I've spoke
That clench and unquench my thirsting throat
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
And now I know 'tis, that you see
That thieving shadow amongst your wings
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
It rids you of even the slightest breath
And comes upon all, it seems
The land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
Then I look you in the eye
I know the name, of that sad land
The land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
The name of that land is plague
And you do best to remember so
The land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
Alas, what havoc wreaks upon the people!
Thou art loth to see what happens there
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
And even now we are not free
From plague, from evil, from deathlike things
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
The mind that warps and turns our heads
The hand that clutches and binds our hearts
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might
It is plague, the thing that we so fear
That spawn of evil, the deathlike thing!
A land of sorrow, of shadow and doubt
That fell things roam, carouse in might...
Wow,that was sooo cool!!!
I've gathered some of my earlier poems from a different site.Most of these are quite depressing as I wrote them when I was angry or upset,but there should be some brighter ones...somewhere... :s
These are the ones I could find so far,there's quite a few so it should keep you busy for a while reading through them...lol...
Spirit:This is about a horse I ride,who is practically wild.
Don't be scared of the leaves on the trees,
Don't be scared of the grass or the reeds,
Don't be scared of the rain or breeze,
Don't be scared,because you're with me.
Don't be afraid of the squelch of the mud,
Don't be afraid of the cows chewing cud,
Don't be afraid of the rose and the bud,
Don't be afraid,is that understood?
Don't listen to the others,they don't understand,
Don't kick out when you're worried or mad,
I'll never hurt you,I'll never raise my hand,
Even if you scare me,or start being bad.
Just come to me,and I'll be your friend,
I'll help you ,I care,
I'll be there 'till the end,
Just don't do anything stupid while I'm not there.
Be good Spirited one,I know you can,
But show the others for me,
Prove you're not bad,
Only you can do that.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Concussion:This is about the bullying I went through when I was 5.
Darkness my only friend,
You'll be there until the end,
Shroud me in your shadowy veil,
The moon's face warm,but pale.
Concussion,take away my fear,
Unconciossness makes things clear,
Smash my head against this wall,
So that I may forget their beckoning call.
Five years old,and nothing to say,
Too scared to talk,too scared to play,
They're coming for me,the school bell knells,
What they'll do,who can tell?
Skulking in the shadows,flitting past the trees,
Beat me to the floor,scrape my knees,
Black eye,trousers ripped,
"What happened?"asks Mum,
I say:"I slipped"
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Moon: I just love the moon...
Moonlight,I love thee so,
Please don't leave me,
Please don't go,
Don't leave me to the horror of day,
Please,with me,stay.
Darkness,my only friend,
The place where the Moon resides,
You'll be there up until the end,
The Solitary Moon,sailing the skies.
The stars twinkle as you soar straight past,
They say, hello,you've come at last,
Then the day comes and all must end,
Don't leave me,solitary friend.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Verse: These are just collections of one verse poems I've written.They're not in any particular order.
My dreams have become reality,
My nightmares have been released,
My will is slowly weakening,
My confidence has decreased,
My soul is lost,destroyed by this world,
My mind is torn and broken,
And from the shadows of my doubt,
My wretchedness has woken,
People stop and stare at you,laughing,
Thinking you're always fine,
But they don't know what's really true,
They don't know you're lying,
My life is a sham ,an act,a wreck,
Everday I live a lie,
I try to put on a brave face,
But behind the scenes I cry.
The moon shines through the shadowy veil,
The postman brings unwanted mail.
The silent graves are whispering,
Death is drawing nigh,
The tears in my eyes are glittering,
As you give your final sigh.
Heartless and cruel,the people seem,
They don't know what the Hell I mean.
The wolves howl,The crows squawk,
The voices in my head,forever talk,
Glaring eyes burn with a fire,
The heart behind them filled with desire.
Hope comes to nothing in this No Man's land,
I yearn for the touch of a loving hand,
But I'm a fool,I see that now,
So to this world I give a bow,
My act is over,my performance finished,
My heart and soul are truly diminished,
Farewell cruel world,I hate thee so,
To the void,I now must go.
Look at me in this ongoing torture,
Have you no pity?Please help me,
Chained to the tales of the old am I,
Release me from this pain.
it can't rain all the time,
Your tears can't fall forever,
Your voice is sweeter than mulled wine,
Your eyes,bluer than heather.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Taim i'ngra leat:Irish for I love you.Written about a boy I know.
You say hello,
My hearts a flutter,
Taim i'ngra leat,
You come over to me,
I start to stutter,
Taim i'ngra leat,
You sit next to me,
At the back table,
Taim i'ngra leat,
We laugh for hours,
The classic fable,
Taim i'ngra leat,
The teacher shouts,
"Quiet you two!",
Taim i'ngra leat,
You ignore him,
We carry on,
Taim i'ngra leat,
You protect me,
When I'm in a fight,
Taim i'ngra leat,
We call each other,
In the middle of the night,
Taim i'ngra leat,
We laugh when we play,
In the band,
Taim i'ngra leat,
You come and show me,
The burns on your hand,
Taim i'ngra leat,
You play me my favourite,
Song on your guitar,
Taim i'ngra leat,
I drum to it,
This band's gotta go far,
Taim i'ngra leat,
We share our pains,
We share our sorrows,
Taim i'ngra leat,
We enjoy each day,
Live for tomorrows,
Taim i'ngra leat,
From the moment I saw you,
I knew you we're right,
Taim i'ngra leat,
I may be raggedy,
Not much of a sight,
Taim i'ngra leat,
But the least I can give,
Is my undying love,
Taim i'ngra leat,
I don't know wether,
You love me or not,
Taim i'ngra leat,
I might as well ask you,
It's worth a shot,
Taim i'ngra leat,
May the seventh,
Shalt be the day,
Taim i'ngra leat,
When my true colours,
Come out to play,
Taim i'ngra leat,
When my emotions,
Are let loose,
Taim i'ngra leat,
Only you can save me,
From this metaphorical noose,
Taim i'ngra leat.
I love you...
Don't hate me for it...
Please...
YOU:This is another written for someone special...
I can’t kid myself,
I can’t lie,
I’ve tried to stop,
Hell knows I try,
My addiction’s killing me,
It’s bringing me down,
My expression’s turned from a smile,
To a frown,
I can’t sleep at all at night,
My dreams have become nightmares,
There’s something not right,
You’ve done this to me, I don’t know how,
Is this the right moment? ,
Should I tell you now? ,
I should before I get out of hand,
Before I hurt you, myself,
Before I’m dust and sand,
It’s been haunting me for months, maybe years,
I can’t count, I don’t know,
I’m the sum of all my fears,
If I leave it any longer, I shall go insane,
I’d hate myself forever,
For so long, it’s been burnt on my brain,
Jealousy of others has blackened my soul,
My heart’s been aching,
Emotions just seem like an empty, black, hole,
I know that you probably, couldn’t care less,
About my point,
Or why I’m in this mess,
It’s you; you’re my problem,
I hate you cuz I love you,
You’ve ripped me apart,
My head’s ablaze,
There’s a hole in my heart,
You’ve stabbed me and trapped me,
I’m stuck on your web,
But, I don’t know if you’ve left me for dead,
I don’t know about you,
I need to find out,
Is it just me, who feels like this?
Or is it going about? ,
Tell me please, before I go mad,
At least I’ll know,
It’ll stop me being sad,
What would you say,
If I told you,
I love you…….?
