Gary Oldman! The IMDb is currently reporting Gary Oldman for the role of Sirius Black.
I'm not sure how to feel about that! I love Gary Oldman, but I don't think he's exactly how I imgined Black. But yet - he's such a good actor....he'll be able to pull it off for sure.

Rumour suggests Ian McKellan. But I haven't heard anything official. The other rumour around is Richard Harris's body double.

Yes - I heard the rumour about Ian McKellan and Richard Harris's body double playing Dumbledore.....

I also heard a rumour that hunk-of-a-man Colin Firth might play Sirius.....I forget where I heard it.....but I think it would be great if he did - but I haven't seen him all dirty, he usually plays cleaner characters....ie: Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones.

the guy who plays sirius looks good. do does the one playing dumbledore and lupin... they seem to have got the casting pretty good.

my only problem is with the person who plays pettigrew but thats cus i really reallly disliked all or nothing wich was the last thing i saw him in.

Awwwwww :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
Where's my Ewan McGregor (as Remus) and Colin Firth (as Sirius) ?

I think the guy playing Peter will be perfect, I've seen him in other things.

I also with Ian McKellan was Dumbledore....I really do picture him as him....but then I've seen him as Gandalf so that explains why.

OK, this is getting off topic a bit and I don't know if it's been mentioned... For all you Lucius Malfoy fans out there, Jason Isaacs played the mean dark haired British soldier in 'The Patriot'.

I just want to say hello. It's nice to know there are other people who like both Tolkien and Rowling. I have met many Tolkien-lovers who hate the Harry Potter books, or think they are only for kids. (I'm 30 and I love them!)

Having just read the B5 thread it occured to me that Jason Carter would probably make a good Sirius. I spent weeks trying to figure out who I thought would be a good actor for the part and couldn't think of one. I've no doubt that Oldman is up to the job, but physically B5's Marcus Cole is the closest person I could imagine Sirius looking like.

Ok, never posted in Hagrid's hut before, so here's my first post here! I am V. I love HP. Both the books and the movies. I haven't read the fourth book yet (and obviously not the fifth either) and probably won't read it until this summer, when I go house sitting again...because that's where the books are! Unless I suddenly find myself without something to read.....then i'll rush to Wally world and buy it! So, anywho...i guess i'll just state my favorite character and why. My favoritistis character in the books has Professor McGonnagal. She's strict when necessary, and tender and lighthearted as well.

In case anyone hasn't heard, Chamber of Secrets comes out on video and DVD April 11th, or is it the 12th? Oh, it's around there, but I'm pretty sure it's the 11th.

What k said is right...Oliver Wood has been cut from PoA (Man, I hear about it NON-STOP on SS), and how can you have Quidditch without the Quidditch captain? This would have been his last movie anyway, if more were being made, since he graduates in this book. Anyway, I'm realizing that so many of my favorite things about PoA center around Quidditch: The Firebolt, the dementors at the game, Draco and crew dressing up as dementors at a game, the Quidditch Cup! It's going to be odd having a movie without it. Maybe they'll make references to it, but still....

Can't say I'm complaining AT ALL about Gary Oldman playing Sirius. I think he'll be perfect...he's such an amazing and underestimated actor!

Wait a minute, is it just the actor being cut and someone else is playing him, or is the character being cut completely? Say it ain't so!! A love  the Quidditch parts of PoA. That's my favorite book!!!

on Sean Biggerstaffs website (the actor who plays oliver wood)

he says that Oliver isnt going to be in the movie so there is no longer a place for him.

which is a shame as one of my favourite all time harry potter quotes is in that book... you know the one where Oliver is talking about his conversation with McGonnagol.....

I was hoping that the 3rd movie would be PERFECT, but it doesn't look like that now.

This is a bit off topic, but does this thread do crazy things, or is it just me? It kinda stretches out... :dizzy:
