With all the complaints about all the Harry Potter threads, I decided to start the ONE! This is THE place to come if you have any Harry Potter news, games, sites, etc... So please, if you must post something HP related, do it here so this forum doesn't get taken over by the subject.

Some good HP sites are listed Here.

Great idea LadyArwen!
I have the PC game and have finished 5 times so ask we what you wish!

The soundtrack will be released on the 15th of November when the Advanced screening is on...

And some news:

Ball Raises Thousands

The star-studded part organized by one Jk Rowling has raised more 431,000 pounds, reports Ireland Online.

"Organisers said guests had donated almost three times as much as expected during the Halloween banquet at Stirling castle in Scotland.

A total of €353,000 came from an after-dinner auction, with one unnamed guest paying almost €16,000 for a walk-on part in the next Harry Potter movie.

Other items included a studio tour in Los Angeles and a holiday on a private island in the West Indies.

Organisers had originally hoped to raise €157,000 from the event, which was in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Scotland.

The castle was transformed into a spooky Celtic banquet with fire-eaters, pipers and burning torches."

The Canada Newswire has a list of all the stars who are scheduled to appear at the premiere tomorrow. Don't forget to watch the webcast on the official site tomorrow beginning at 2:30 PM London time, 9:30 AM Eastern Time.

Hollywood.com has posted the second part of their CoS video interviews. This time it's the new faces.

The official site has a few new screensavers.

JK Rowling is scheduled to appear at the London CoS premiere tomorrow (6 months pregnant, of course).

DanRadcliffe.com has posted the Oprah transcript.

Interesting random quote from a interview with Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) that TLC conducted at the CoS press conference:

"I went off and read the books after the audition and I read all four books in one sitting - you know - didn't wash, didn't eat, drove around with them on the steering wheel like a lunatic. I suddenly understood why my friends, who I'd thought where slightly backward, had been so addicted to these children's books. They're like crack."

I can relate to that, I read Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban in the same night.

Ok thats all the news for today!
If you want I can post news in here everyday?

If anyone wants to join a pretty good Harry Potter site, I'd suggest http://www.snitchseeker.com ....it's set up almost exactly like CoE with a few exceptions, so it's really easy to navigate around and find things. They have a couple of great forums and even have 'common rooms' where only people who have been sorted into a certain house can enter....

Thanks for all the news whitty!

I think Ewan could make a fair-to-decent Professor Lupin. He'd certainly be around the right age. I think Colin Firth isn't going to be Sirius Black... I mean he has to be wicked skinny when he gets out of Azkaban, with a really dirty look, and that doesn't fit Colin Firth.
But as of now, these are ALL rumors. They haven't officially announced ANY casting for the next movie, everything is just speculation right now. If I had my way, I'd try to find new talent for the roles (kind of like picking Orli, etc.) so as to give us more people to admire!

Yeah - ok - I admit it sin't official - but wouldn't it be great!
I did see it on that personality website - and I can see Ewan as Lupin and surprisingly Firth as Sirius - even though we haven't seen him like that in any other role.

But yes, I do get what Ring is talking about - finding new talent.

But they have Dame Maggie Smith already haven't they - what a great job she has done.

But new talent is good - like Daniel as Harry - I hadn't heard of him before - even though I have seen David Copperfield.

Heres some major Harry Potter news for ya (so did I get the job of posting the news in here every day?)

JK Rowling has revealed for the first time that there's a major death in the next Potter adventure. She also said that the almost finished fifth book is much darker in tone than the previous stories.

Speaking to Lizo at the world premiere of The Chamber of Secrets she described what was in store in The Order of the Phoenix.

"It is dark," she said. "There's a bad death in it that I haven't enjoyed writing." JK also said that the book now looked like being even longer than Goblet of Fire. "At the moment it's 38 chapters."

That's a chapter longer than the last book! She's now putting the finishing touches to the manuscript which she says is just "weeks away" from being delivered to her publishers.

"I'm really pleased with it," she said. '[I'm] just going to tweak it a tiny bit more, then the publishers will have it." The book should be ready in the shops about five months after that.

Generally speaking, we're looking at a summer release.

and a bit of rumour:

The Times Online has an article pondering a possible romance between Harry and Hermione in future books:

It lasts only three seconds, but one scene in the new Harry Potter film had fans agog after its premiere in London last night: could the way Hermione hugs Harry be the first sign of love? Or does her heart really belong to Ron Weasley? The riddle is posed in a scene that appears nowhere in the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. An overjoyed Hermione runs towards her friends, hugging Harry in front of the entire school, but managing only an embarrassed handshake with Ron.

Emma Watson, the 12-year-old actress who plays Hermione, was giving nothing away as she arrived for the premiere at the Odeon, Leicester Square: “That’s a question for J.K. Rowling,” she said. “Who would I go for? They’re both gorgeous.”

Reactions please? LOL

it seems JK Rowling has been "weeks away" from getting it to her publishers for months! perhaps thats just me being cynical.

i assume that that was from newsround Whittyb??

(if any of you guys do post news about harry potter in here then can you put a source if you have one- and if its a long artical just give the outline and put in a link this is just a personal request, if you dont have a source dont worry- it will still be interesting to debate!)

Nope, I'm only registered on this site and the official Harrypotter site. Anyone have anyother good HP sites.

Also, does anyone have any ideas on what to call this thread? I decided on "Hagrid's Hut" because the characters always seem to be disussing something there...

I never believe any of the rumors about romance in the Harry Potter books/films. I mean I've heard that harry will fall in love with Hermione, Ginny, Cho, Fleur etc. Hopefully, since these kids are just 12-15 years old, they shouldn't be falling in love anyway. When Hermione hugs Harry in the latest film, it's right after she has been unpetrified. I'd be prettyhappy with the one who brought that about, wouldn't you? I think, if anything, JK will save any sort of relationship until the last book...

Emma - Hugging Shy??????

Emma Watson reveals her nervousness on hugging Daniel Radcliffe on set.

During the filming of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Emma Watson — who plays know-it-all Hermione Granger — faced many a challenge, including being turned into a cat and petrified. But the scene that caused her the greatest hardship was the one which required her to — yikes — hug a boy! And not just any boy: The 12-year-old actress had to wrap her arms around Harry Potter himself — fellow Brit Daniel Radcliffe.

"It [made me] cringe," Watson squeamishly admits. "It's weird to hug somebody in front of 300 kids and everybody else in the whole entire world."

Luckily, her 13-year-old co-star was a perfect gentleman. "He was really nice about it," she notes of Radcliffe. "You'd think he might be like, 'Eww, get off of me!' But he wasn't. It was very nice."

"I was thinking, 'Get off me!' actually," adds Radcliffe with a laugh. "No, I wasn't. I was cool with it. I didn't mind at all."

Well, now that Watson has revealed her least favorite sequence in Chamber of Secrets — opening Nov. 15 — which one did she like best? "My favorite bits in this movie [were] probably the Gilderoy Lockhart scenes," she smirks. "I thought [they were] pretty good." Sounds like someone would have rather hugged Kenneth Branagh!

Harry Potter To Tanya Grotter: 'Nyet'

From :: CBS News.com

From the jagged, jumbled lettering of the title to the picture of a youngster flying through the air framed by pillars, the book looks fantastically familiar. But the figure on the front isn't Harry Potter - it's Tanya Grotter, heroine of a Russian series that has the boy wizard's backers crying plagiarism.

While Tanya Grotter is an 11-year-old girl and rides a magical double bass instead of a broomstick, she shares several attributes with her near-namesake: Like Potter, she is an orphan, wears glasses and has an unusual mark on her face - a mole on her nose. And like the Potter books, the Grotter series is full of fanciful magic words that set spells in motion.

The author of both Grotter books, Dmitry Yemets, said his work was "entirely independent." However, he also said it was meant in part as a parody of the Harry Potter series, but with roots in Russian culture and folklore.

"It's a sort of Russian answer to Harry Potter," said Yemets, a philologist by training and a specialist in Russian folklore. He said he sees his books as being in a "cultural competition" with the Harry Potter series, which has sold about 1.2 million copies in
Russia.

Saying the resemblance goes far deeper than the cover, lawyers for Potter author J.K. Rowling, her Russian publisher and Warner Brothers have threatened to sue Eksmo, the publisher of "Tanya Grotter and the Magical Double Bass," unless it withdraws the book and promises not to print any more.

Eksmo's reaction: Go fly a Nimbus-2000.

Reports CCBC Newsround:

"One lucky Potter fan will be the envy of all the others after snapping up a walk-on part in the next film.

But they had to pay for the privilege, shelling out a whopping £10,000 for a blink-and-you'll-miss it role in the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The mystery extra handed over the cash at a charity Hallowe'en banquet organised by JK Rowling at Stirling Castle in Scotland.
