Scripted, please see the Jewel of Valinor OoC to join.

A flash of bright light. A cool hand. The voice that haunted her mind.
"All my hopes I keep for you."

Alcarinque woke in the dark room, a patch of moonlight shining on the wall. She sighed, shaking her head. The memories, the dreams, they haunted her when she was home, in Rivendell. She would need to leave again, lose herself in the wild.

Alcarinque stepped down off the bed and pushed open the doors to her balcony. It was raining lightly, the moon shining through the mistiness. The valley below was filled with a thick fog, hiding the land from even her fine elven eyes.

Little did she know that the time was come, that soon her life would be thrown to the fates.
For she was Alcarinque Valtar, the daughter of the Mourner, and her destiny lay in a journey, soon to test her being.

A thick mist had come up in the late hours of the day. Nimaethor had been on his way to Imladris, and he knew that he was not far from the hidden valley anymore. He had intended to walk through the night, but as this was the first time for him to visit the refuge, he thought it wiser to stay where he was for the night.
He made himself comfortable against a tree. As he did not intend to sleep, for the danger of being surprised by evil creatures that still roamed Middle Earth, he had lit himself a small fire. His small bundle of belongings, that he always kept close by, tucked behing his head he stared into the flickering flames. Gladly would he have watched the stars but the canopy of the trees around blocked out their light as well as the light of the moon.
Some hours had passed when silently Nimaethor got up to pick some more branches for the fire before it would die completely. He had just sepped outside of the ring of light when he heared someone approach.

A young elf with dark, waving hair appears beyond a tree. "oh, sorry, i didn't realize...anyone was here..." she looks down nervously and mumbles something to herself. (She looks to be about 1 "im Erurawien...if you'de like to know..well....you can call me Erura.." she trails off... "what were you doing out here anyway...?" she asks as she bends down to pick up her book off the ground.

Pushing back her long, wet tresses, the Wandering Elf slowly trekked her way into Imladris. She smiled through the rain; it was good to be home. Her dark blue eyes glanced towards the buildings of the hidden Elvish refuge, seeking for any sign that there might still be some awake this time of night. She did indeed find life among the buildings, but it was a she-Elf peering through her balcony doors. The Wanderer shook her head and continued along to the stables.

Her horse, a dark brown mare, came first, as Macilie Undómiel would not see fit to leave her cold and wet. She brushed the animal dry, then fed her and finally shut the half-door and left the stables. With a sigh, Macilie walked wearily up the steps to the Last Homely House – home. The house was quiet and dark, as she had expected. Continuing, Macilie reached the staircase that led to her room and finally, after much longing, shut the door to her room and fell on her bed with a heaving sigh of utter relief. She would love to stay in bed for the next five thousand years…

((Hey, I'm going to make Alcar meet up, or rather, know Macilie, is that ok? If it's not I'll delete or edit...))

Alcarinque squinted through the haze of the mist and leaned forward slightly. Was that who she thought it was, walking with drenched hair through the foliage? Yes, it was Macilie. Alcarinque turned back into her room and went out into the hall. It was still dark, and she went quietly, wending her way through the intricate hallways of the elven refuge. When she reached the room where she was headed, the room was already silent.
She must be asleep.
Alcarinque turned, disappointed.

Rowan trudged through the forest, leading his faithful horse by his side. He didn't really know where he was going... but he didn't mind - he was going through a 'wandering phase' as he called it. His friends back in the City thought he was a bit strange, taking a pack and his horse and going off on journies that lasted months and months... and had no real objective.
He smiled vaguely as he recalled the past few days. No one but him and his Kincalen.
He paused to search for his map. When he pulled it out of his bag, it was a bit ripped, some of it was missing, and most of it was illegible, but he could still work out his rough position from it. He stared down at the writing nearest to him.
"Imladris." He spoke aloud. He couldn't recall a single thing about the elven haven. An elf friend of his had told him countless stories about how beautiful it was... but he couldn't remember a thing. He shrugged, and continued walking.
He suddenly noticed the flickering of light ahead, and Kincalen whinnied expectantly.
Rowan hesitated, then walked slowly forwards until he stepped out into the small clearing. He couldn't see anyone beside the fire, so he called out.
"Hello?" He cast his gaze around, and then picked out a shadowy figure.

A young man had appeared inside the ring illuminated by the fire. A traveler as it seemed, leading a horse by it's reigns. The man looked around and finally caught Nimaethor's shape by the tree. Stepping back into the light Nimaethor greeted the stranger. "Mae govannen. My name is Nimaethor. I'm headed for- well Imladris maybe. Maybe not. It's where my feet will take me in the end." He smiled at the man, who looked not exactly exhausted by quite travelworn. Nimaethor also noted the redish color of the man's fingers and nose. The cold of the night combined with thee wetness of the fog must be biting, he thought, and so he added: "I was just going to collect more fire wood. Make yourself comfortable if you want. I will be right back."
With that he grabbed his bundle and disapeared into the darkness of the trees once more, to return moments later with his arms full of collected wood that he stuck into the fire. Taking his seat again Nimaethor looked up questioningly at the stranger.

((of course I don't mind, it works perfectly))

Macilie listened to soft, barely audible footsteps outside her door and for a moment wondered who it was. She smiled slightly as she remembered seeing Alcarinque in the window; that's who it must be...though what she was doing awake at this hour was beyond Macilie's knowledge.

She rolled out of bed with a grunt and opened her door. "It's alright, Alcar, I'm not asleep yet," she said, her voice soft and friendly. "You can come in."

Alcarinque smiled and stepped into her friend's room.
"How have you been? How was your journey?"
Her eyes clouded over slightly. "My dreams have come back again. I don't think I'm going to be staying here much longer."
Alcarinque's face darkened further. "And there's something else...I don't think I'll be staying here even if I wanted to..."

((Is anyone else going to hop in yet? The thread is getting off to a slow start...))

Macilie sad down in a large overstuffed chair and sighed. "The journey was fine, I suppose, a tiring one," she answered. She nodded her head thoughtfully as Alcar told her of her dreams. "Either way, you know we haven't traveled together in a long time...maybe I could join you...keep you company?" Macilie smiled at her friend.

Alcarinque smiled back at her friend. "It would be a good idea for us to travel together. But this journey...it is not just a simple wandering. It is...a quest, of some sort. I cannot say. I was not gifted with as strong a Sight as Men." Alcarinque walked over to the window, where the early morning light was just seeping through. The sun was yet to come over he horizon, but the sky was dyed the faint yellows of dawn.
The rainclouds were slowly dissipating, and the fog had sunk down to the lower valley.
Alcarinque ran a hand through her lose hair nervously and smiled weakly at her friend once more. "Perhaps today will bring with it new revelations."

Macilie closed her eyes, both in thought and in weariness. She had the gift of foresight, as given from the Valar, but the future for Alcar was as dim as her own. When she opened her eyes again, she looked at Alcar and sighed. "Ada once told me that each new day brings a new adventure... Perhaps that is our answer for now," she said.

She glanced out the window, noting, as Alcar had that the morning was slowly, but surely dawning. Had she traveled through the entire night? She must have; after all she had been anxious to return home, at least for a day or two. Her foresight had told her a few weeks ago that something important was taking place soon, and that she would be part of it. What that 'something' was had been beyond her knowledge...

"You are right," Macilie huffed, agitated that she could not know what was going to happen. "It is a quest, but of what sort and where we are going I cannot say... I just know that I should come with you," she continued.

Alcarinque turned, seeing the frustration on her friend's face. The expression on her face told her that her Sight had failed her attempts.
She smiled tiredly. "Perhaps it's all for the best." She noted Macilie's sleepless eyes and the weary frown on her face. "You should rest. I'm sorry to bother you before you got any sleep." She walked toward the door, already thinking what to do that day. She should take a scouting trip into the valley below, check with the armory for any news or strangers...
"I'm going to see if there's any new information, maybe take a trip with the scouting guard." Alcarinque paused hesitantly. "Maybe I will find something."

Macilie smiled softly and stood to stretch her sore muscles. "Let me know if you find anything. When I get back up, I'll come find you and help," she said as Alcar shut the door to her room. "But first," she muttered to herself. "I do need rest." She shed her wet clothing and pulled on a dry sleeping tunic with matching leggings.

She brushed her hair out and finally made it into her bed, where she half-closed her eyes and let her body rest. Her dreams were of interest, but they still allowed her sleep...s

The hooded and cloaked figure wove its way through the trees, careful to remain unseen. Its movements were deft, practised, and comfortable. Warily it moved closer to the distant light of the campfire. For days, the figure had followed the Elf, hearing rumour of a treasure he carried. The opportunity was irresistable, and so the figure had crept after the Elf, keeping to the shadows, even in the rain never ceasing to follow him.

This would be challenging, to say the least. The figure's smile was hidden beneath its hood. The greatest challenges bring the greatest rewards.

When Nimaethor did not receive an answer to his unspoken question from the stranger across from him, he did not press the matter any further. Some peopple preferred to stay anonymous, and if that was to their liking Nimaethor was not one to challenge that.
He smiled to the figure across from him, and when the first light of dawn found it's way through the mist, he drew out some food and a waterbottle. It was to be a sparse breakfast, nevertheless he offered some of his food to the other traveller. Soon they would reach Rivendell. Today even if all went well. There he would be able to refill his supplies before resuming his travels.
He had no idea of what was to happen in the near future and how this would alter his plans...

Alcarinque shaded her eyes with her hand as the hazy sunlight came through the trees. She waited as the troop of guards crunched through the forest before her, then followed after, tailing them slowly. The morning was strange and already getting warm. The wood was strangely quiet, as if it were holding it's breath, waiting for something to happen...

The two travelers had eaten in silence, each following their own thoughts. Soon their bellies were filled and Nimaethor got up to extinguish the fire. He was just stowing the rest of his belongings in his pack, when he heard the sound of appoaching footsteps.
He straightened and stood motionless for a moment, then deciding that the sound was made by more then one, and that they were aproaching quickly he waved to the stranger to follow him. Walking in the direction of the sound, leaving his pack behind as it might prove a hinderance when it came to a fight, he was yet undecided on his course of action.
If those were orcs aproaching the travelers would hide and then start an attack from behind, given they were not hopelessly outnumbered. If not he would show himself, as not to be mistaken for a burgler or even worse. The sounds were close at hand now and Nimaethor could, to his relief tell that it were Elves coming towards them. Most probably a group from Imladris, maybe a patrol. Then he was closer to the realm already then he had thought.
Continuing in his direction he soon stood before the group of archers and swordsmen, who had stopped upon hearing him aproach. With a smile he bowed, greating the Elves in the customary fashion. "Good day. My name is Nimaethor. I am a traveler, seeking rest and new supplies in Imladris."

Rowan had been immersed in thought, and not really aware of anything going on around him. He only really snapped out of his stream of thoughts when they found themselves in front of a group of elves from Rivendell. Everything related to everyday life came back to Rowan, and he realized how distant he had been with the hopsitable stranger.
He also bowed to the elves, and introduced himself finally.
"I am called Rowan. I also travel, and share the same objective as my companion." He glanced at Nimaethor, and smiled apologetically for his continued silence previously to that moment. Then he turned his attention back to the elves.

Lùthien, a young Elf from Lorien walked through Rivendell, observing all of the beautiful landmarks and plants. She had traveled to Rivendell with her parents because they were discussing healing techniques with Lord Elrond. For what reason, Lùthien had no idea. Lùthien, at that time, was still learning and found it quite interesting. She liked other things like science and history. She was inside a hallway now looking at the murals. She saw every detail and part it played in its story. She walked all along the mural till the story had ended. She loved it a lot. Suddenly, her stomach growled. She hadn't eaten almost all day and dinner would be served soon. She met her parents in the courtyard and saw what was happening.

((Is it okay?)(

Alcarinque was surprised when she nearly bumped into the young scout in front of her as they winded their way down the valley. That was when she heard the crunch of footsteps before the patrol troop. The archers prepared arrows and stretched back their bowstrings slightly, ready to shoot at a moment’s notice, should it be a hostile approaching. The others put a hand to their scabbards, tense. The times were not kind, and peril could be anywhere. Alcarinque herself was tensed in the low crouch that was characteristic of her fighting. The position allowed for a spring and a flexibility that was not possible with simply standing. Two figures emerged out of the thinning mist before the armed group. As they approached, she saw that one was an elf, one with a seemingly youthful face but one whose eyes were weighted with the wisdom of age. The other was a human, one who seemed quick -tempered, but controlled. The elf greeted the troop at a safe distance. “Good day. My name is Nimaethor. I am a traveler, seeking rest and new supplies at Imladris.” The man stepped forward also, introducing himself as Rowan. Alcarinque rose slowly and motioned the guards back. The man seemed commonplace; there was nothing strange about him. The elf’s gaze, however, burned into Alcarinque’s soul. Who was this, a visitor with young face and old eyes?
“We are a detachment from Imladris. The times are hard, and you must excuse our hostile welcome. Seldom do we have travelers unannounced who do not have ill intentions.” Alcarinque said, her eyes glowing dark amber in her pale face. Nimaethor smiled understandingly and nodded. No matter how much she tried, Alcarinque could not shake the feeling that he saw into herself more than she herself knew. His intent gaze was hard to return. There was a creeping fear in the back of her mind that he knew her strange lineage, the reason why her appearance was so different from her fellow elven folk.
With an effort Alcarinque lifted her gaze and addressed the visitors, looking straight back at Nimaethor. “We will escort you to Imladris.” Seeing the two were empty handed, Alcarinque questioned them. “Do you have any belongings you must retrieve? Speed is of the essence, you see. For all that we may be lightfooted, remaining too long in one place could put us in danger of leaving our scent.” As the two headed back the way they came, Alcarinque could not shake the sense of an odd weight in the air as she watched the receding backs of the strangers…

The cloaked figure froze in surprise at hearing footsteps in the distance. It would not do for him to be caught. He could barely believe his luck when the figures near the fire walked away, leaving their packs unattended. Silently and swiftly as a shadow he slunk to the packs. Quickly he dug through the one belonging to the Elf he'd been following, finding what he was looking for. Gently he removed the jewelled tiara, holding it gingerly in his hands.

Again he heard the crunch of gravel. Returning to his feet he hurried quietly away, concealing himself again among the trees. He watched as the two picked up their packs, banked the fire, and then returned in the direction they had come from. Following a distance behind, he saw a small number of Elves waiting for them. Again he froze, knowing of the legendary eyesight of the Elves. Blood and ashes, he thought. What if they saw me? He waited patiently, barely breathing, until the group moved away. He followed them warily.

As Rowan stepped foreward to introduce himself Nimaethor raised an eyebrow in surprise. The man had not spoken before but now looked over to him apollogetically. It made Nimaethor smile while the eyecontact lasted. Rowan's eyes seemed sincere and much more focused now, and Nimaethor came to the conclusion that he might have had a wrong first impression.
His smile vanished when he saw the troop move out of the corner of his eyes, but turning to face them again saw that they now lowered their bows.
“We are a detachment from Imladris. The times are hard, and you must excuse our hostile welcome. Seldom do we have travelers unannounced who do not have ill intentions.”
As she spoke up Nimaethor's eyes wandered over to the maiden who had spoken, and his eyes were caught. She seemed strangely familiar, as though he had seen her before. Her long black hair was braided and she wore a black, high collared tunic. Keeping his eyes on her while she was speaking Nimaethor tried to remember. He was not sure what it was he should remember, but he knew that it was of importance.
His eyes only left her face when Rowan and he went back to the camp they had made for the night to fetch their packs.
Soon both returned to the groop of Rivendell Elves. Nimaethor had his pack causually slung over his back, holding it with his left hand. This way his right was free to draw his sword any time should it be of need.
On their way back to Imladris, Nimaethor kept walking behind the maiden, absentmindedly staring onto her back. Sooner then expected they reached the refuge, and Nimaethor beheld it's graceful beauty for the first time.

(I figure we might as well get all the people who are in Rivendell together so we can get going to shorten Elessar and dark_strider’s wait-time, so that would be Alcarinqué (me), Macilie (Macilie), Rowan (anduril), Nimaethor (Lasgalen), Lúthien (ElvenPrincess)? I’ll try to put everyone together at lunch in this post, hope nobody minds…and as I’m actually typing this up offline and freehand, sorry if I miss anyone or get something wrong about a character! That can be remedied by an edit.)

Alcarinque led the group back towards Rivendell, disappointed. She had been expecting something strange or extraordinary, and she had simply found a few wayward travelers. Those were not common in Imladris, as they were a subtle source of outside happenings, but they were nothing strange, and these particular strangers did not seem at all out of the ordinary. Except for the elf. Alcarinque made a mental note to watch him carefully should anything arise.

Once they were within the safety of the haven Alcarinque was quick in dispatching guards with orders. One she sent to the Lord Elrond, notifying him of the arrival of the travelers. She spoke to another quietly before turning to the wanderers.
“Arathion will show you to the rooms you may use during your stay. Please join us in about half an hour for the noon meal in the main hall, as the household will be gathered then. The Lord Elrond will desire to speak with you,” Alcarinque said.
They nodded and followed the guard down the hall, their travel worn clothing conspicuous amid the neat gear of the guards and the smooth, silken gowns of the elven women. Alcarinque’s shrewd eyes followed Nimaethor’s back as he disappeared. There was something mysterious about him, a feeling that she should know him somehow, and the elusive memory, if she had any of him, was frustrating.

Sighing, she put the thought away in the back of her mind, considering her work done for the morning. She would go to find her friend to tell her of the morning. On her way to Macilie’s room, mulling how to sum up the morning’s events, she bumped into someone in the hall. Jolted out of her thoughts, Alcarinque apologized quickly. The elven maiden before her smiled. “It’s nothing. I was just on my way to the main hall.” Alcarinque recognized her. Her name was Luthien, as she recalled, and she was in Rivendell with her parents. Relieved, Alcarinque excused herself and continued on, this time much more alertly.

The door to Macilie’s room opened just as she was about to knock. Macilie smiled when she saw her. “How went the morning? Tell me on the way to lunch.” she said.
The two friends made their way to the main hall, where most of the household of Elrond were already gathered; meanwhile Alcarinque told of the 2 strangers and the uneasiness she had about the elven one.

Though the portents- the still morning, the dreams, Macilie’s sight, the arrival of the strangers-were already apparent, little did either of them suspect that already, the Valar had taken the half-made tapestry of time in their hands and begun to weave in Their own brilliant but wayward threads, as though the children of Iluvatar were but pawns in the great battle…

((The “great battle” could allude to why we have to do whatever it is we have to do after the tiara is found (and it shouldn’t be too off whatever we decide what it really is, since the term “battle” can, sadly enough, be stretched to cover just about anything. -_-)…and now everyone can be on their way to lunch? Food! Then to speed us on our way, there can be a ruckus at lunch and people can decide to go on a very urgent trip and then we can leave right afterward on our way to the ex-Cuivienen…Any thoughts?))

Glorfindal of Lindon led his trusty steed Lechend to the brink of the vale of Imladris. He paused for a moment on the brink of the valley, staring down towards the Last Homely House below him.

'It is good to be back here, I need a good bed, a good rest and some good food,' he muttered darkly to himself. 'And it will be good to see Lord Elrond again.'

Glorfindal poured back over his memories of his last journey, the boles of the repressive trees, the screams of orcs, the shouts and cries of men, death everywhere. The stentch of blood and treachery, treachery from within. Those whom he had trusted, they had...no. That had been a long time ago, and yet not that long ago in his mind. No, this had been different, there had been Orcs this time, not Elves. And Men, the kin of the Edain, they had been there also. It had been different or had it?

The screams of the dying, pleading for mercy, but they would get none. Merciless butchery of women and children, they did not deserve that. What had she ever done to them? All she had wanted to do was to protect the children!

He could see it again, he had been fifteen metres away, he could have made it, he SHOULD have made it. But why? WHY? Rage boiled inside of him, entering into every fibre of his being. How could he have failed her?

As fast as a bolt of lightning he whipped his blade from his side, and hewed at a tree stump. He struck again and again, ripping his sword accross in horiztonal and vertical slashes. Until finally his strength left him, and he collapsed onto the ground sobbing into his knees. Glorfiindal then raised his head, and looked at the tree stump. It was broken and warped by his blows, reaching out his hand he laid it on the ruined remains.

Putting forth his power he felt it's material reknit and grow, restoring itself. Opening his eyes he beheld a beautiful blossoming sapling, where the stump had once been. A faint smile crossed his face. Hr then looked up, to the West. Again it seemed that there was a light, undimmed, pure, golden lingering just beyond the edge of his sight.

Rising to his feet, Glorfindal picked up his blade, rearranged his attire, and composed himself. Taking his Lechend by the reins, he turned his back to the West and led his horse down the steps into the valley. Into the shadows below.

(Is that an ok introduction?)

Rowan followed to elf to his room, and tried to neaten himself up before lunch. The journey had been long and tiresome, and he felt like he deserved a rest. After a short time, and a change of tunics, he left his guest room, and made his way towards the Hall. From the instant he'd set eyes upon Rivendell, he'd fallen in love with it, everything about was amazing, and peaceful - he couldn't describe it.
He entered the hall, a little nervously, and glanced around to see if his travelling companion had arrived there yet. He soon saw that Nimaethor was not yet there, but found himself an empty seat, and took his place in it.

Puzzled by the lack of people, Glorfindal led his steed into the courtyard in front of Elrond's house. Looking around, he hears the bell toll.

'Midday meal, already?, I must be running late. Well I can't go unannounced to the table, so I shall have to wait,' he said to Lechend. 'Go and put yourself in the stables, they'll be room and food enough for you. Providing you watch your manners now. I won't have the good people of Imladris think that we are uncouth in Lindon.'

Sending his horse off to the stables, Glorfindal looked around him. His eyes strayed upwards towards the pine woods at the eastern end of the valley. He greatly loved woods, in his childhood he had scaled many a tree in Hithlum, where he could look out and behold the wide green lands bordered by the tall Mountains of Shadow. Sighing to himself, he made his way along the lower side of the Last Homely House and along the path of the Bruinen.

At the end of it he left the path and scaled up the steep slopes into the pine woods beyond. Making his way carefully through the trees, stopping every now and again to look around him and take in the atmosphere of that place. After walking for about ten minutes, he came to a tall and graceful pine tree. Placing his hand on lower branches his climbed quickly and swiftly up into the high branches above. Eventually he stopped on a high spot, where he could see the whole valley stretched out before him. Hear the swift sound of the river, smell the fragrant air and see all around him. And taking up his harp and began to sing. It was a song his mother had taught him, a song of the long wild woods of Middle-earth, the freedom, about times that were better. And his clear voice, carried by the gentle breeze, floated off down the valley to the house below.

Nimaethor had followed the Rivendell Elf to his room. He settled on his bed for a moment, taking in his surroundings. He then got up, undressed, washed and cleaned off his traveling clothes as best as he could.
Walking back to the table he opened his bundle. Taking out his magnificent robe, that he had brought with him from Aman, he put it on. It suited him perfectly, and made his geen-gey eyes shine out even more.
Turning to the table once more he was just about to close the bundle, when he took a closer look at it's contents. It seemed to be less then usual. Suspicious now he took one item after the other out- and then hesitated in shock. The tiara! It was missing. Looking through everything again he made sure he was not mistaken. But it was missing. But when.. He straightened and closed his eyes. When they went to investigate the sounds. The packs had been left behind. Anger welled up within him, mainly directed at himself. How could he have been so stupid?! But then, nothing else was missing. A normal thief would surely have taken the whole pack, probably even both.
With a few steps he crossed the room and went out into the hallway. He wondered if something of Rowan's things was missing. Knocking at the man's door there was no reply. Nimaethor turned and made his way to the hall. Soon upon entering he found the man and took his seat at his side. "Is anything of your things missing? Something has been stolen from me. Probably while we left our packs unwatched." His voice sounded troubled and sorrow could be seen in is eyes.

Setting aside his harp Glorfindel judged that enough time had passed. Descending from the tree, he landed lightly on the ground below, and then he set off back along the path he had taken heading towards the house.

Turning up the side of the path he passed through the garden at the rear of Elrond's house, pausing to smell the fragrant air, and mounted the steps into the building, passing through the porch into the hall beyond he went in search of the inhabitants.

Was it just him that, or was there an air of sorrow that was unnatural for this valley looming in the surroundings? Shaking it off he continued his search of the building. Hopefully I'll find someone who can help me.

Rowan stared at Nimaethor in momentary disbelief, but he trusted this traveller... he would not lie. It greatly shocked him that something should go missing - stolen in Rivendell of all places. He shook his head regretfully.
"Not that I noticed..." His face became grave, and his eyes brightened with fire. "It wasn't anything...precious, was it?" From the look on Nimaethor's face, Rowan was fully prepared to guess the worst possible scenario. He glanced up the table at which they were seated, and set down his cutlery. He turned again to his travelling companion, whom he already considered as his friend.
"I will help you to look for this thing that is lost... It is strange that they only took the one thing - perhaps they could have known that you were carrying it? I don't think anything of mine has been touched."
All the tranquillity he had felt on arriving at this elven settlement had vanished now, and he lowered his eyes in thought.

Finding the door to the hall open Glorfindel stepped inside, removing his riding gloves as he went. Glancing around, seeking for a spare seat, he spied a forlorn looking pair, a man and an elf. The elf was wearing a strange looking robe, it was not of Middle-earth fashion, it was of Aman. His father had possessed one just like it!

Making his way up to where the mournful looking pair were seated he ventured to speak, "Greeting fellow travellers, why look you so sorrowful? Especially on such a beautiful day and in such a wondrous place as this?"

The offer of help uttered by Rowan surprised Nimaethor, yet he was very glad to receive it. "If it will not be too much trouble to you, I would gladly accept your offered help, my friend." He said with a smile on his lips that could not make his sorrow disappear. "Indeed, what was stolen was very precious. It was a tiara I brought from Aman. I am to give it on to- to someone, and if I fail to retrieve it I can not forsee the consequences." He fell silent again, looking down at his hands, that were folded in his lap. He was just pondering about who might have known about the tiara, when a familiar voice pulled him from his thoughs.
Turning in disbelieve he saw Glorfindal before him. With a smile he stood up, reaching for the other's arm. "What a surprise to see you here! Come sit with us." Sitting down he continued. "This is my friend Rowan, a fellow traveler. And this is Glorfindal. Say what place do you call home at the present? Is it this beautiful valley?" Seeing the that he could not hide his sorrow from the other Elf however, Nimaethor replied to the question Glorfindal had asked before.
"The tiara has been stolen from me. My friend Rowan has offered me help to retrieve it. It happened this morning in the woods. If we hurry we might still be able to track the thief, but before we can go we will need new supplies, that I hope the Lord Elrond will provide us with as soon as possible."

A great feeling of relief spread over Glorfindel as he recognised Nimaethor, a very old friend. Grasping his friends arm gladly, 'The Valar be praised, how overjoyed I am to see you again!' he cried, embracing his old comrade.
Gratefully accepting the offer to join Nimaethor and Rowan he sat down next to the Teleri elf and diagonally opposite from the man. Extending his hand to Rowan he greeted him, 'Well met friend, any being who the worthy Nimaethor calls friend must be of high honour indeed. I am pleased to make your acquaintance.'
Then turning to answer Nimaethor, 'Alas no I do not dwell here, but farther west in the fair land of Lindon. I am a servant of the House of Fingolfin, and because of my oath to his father, hold King Gil-galad as my lord. I have remained at his side for long years now, but I am given leave to ride abroad to combat the servants of evil. I stopped here on my way back to the Havens, after my latest quest.'
Pausing to hear Nimaethor's reply, the smile left his face as he now understood the source of his friends woe.
'The tiara stolen. This is ill news indeed. I know only a little of what my father told me of your quest, but I do perceive that this artifact has great importance. Very well, with your leave, I will offer my aid also, for the sake of our friendship and for your promise to the fair Lady Nienna.'

Alcarinque stood up in the hall, looking for the newly arrived guests. She found the two of them at a table near the far end of the hall, and they were joined by another guest, whom she did not know. The three of them wore identical expressions of grave worry. Excusing herself from her table and leaving her friend Macilie behind, she walked over to the table of the strangers.
"Is anything the matter?" Alcarinque asked, hesitating slightly. Her golden eyes met the eyes of each of the three. Nimaethor's eyes were testy, and he hesitated.
"Shall I call the Lord Elrond? I am sure he will be willing to aid you should you have need." Searching for Elrond among the crowd, she found him convesing politely on his way to his seat. He caught her eye as she stared at him intently. His sixth sense was acute, and she had only to gaze at him fixedly before he made his way to her and the troubled travelers.
"Is there anything the matter?" he asked, smiling amiably. He saw their hesiattion at the presence of Alcarinque and his face grew sober. "The LAdy Alcarinque is one of the most trusted women in this household. Feel free to speak your mind."

((Is that okay...?))

Glorfindel rose to his feet immediatly as the fair lady approached. Strange he had not seen her before here.

"I fear that there is an issue of great importance to discuss mam," he replied, "But it is not my part to say any more than that, as it is not my affair."

As a saw the Lord Elrond approaching he bowed, "My lord, it is good to see you again, I hope that you will excuse my abrupt and unannouced arrival in your halls, but I am here here to help a friend in a dire matter." Then turning to the lady, "Am I to gather that this is somehow connected?"
