The same night Bain was resting peacefully, Ardinlas and her companions were in counsel with Lord Elrond. They sat in a meeting room that was open to the outside. A cool breeze was blowing through the room, and the moon was full.

"Now, Ardinlas, what did you come here for?" Elrond asked. The Elf was as regal as a king of old. His keen eyes studied her.

"I was sent to Dol Guldur to aid those fighting against the Orcs there, but we are being overrun. I have come to you to ask for your help my lord,," Ardinlas replied.

"I see. But why should I help the one who trespassed in my wood?"

"My lord, we were there to come and ask for your help! We mean nothing else!" Ardinlas exclaimed. "There is a shadow growing in the South, and already some of the defile has reached my home! We haven't enough to battle on the homefront. I implore that you help us, regardless of the opinion you have had of me in the past!"

"No need for so much passion, lady. I will help you as much as I can. I have seen the shadow growing for a long time, and helping those is only part of what needs to be done...but that is for another day."

"Very well." Ardinlas glanced at Mithlirian as they were escorted from the room to the quarters where they would be staying for the night.

Mithlirian met her gaze. "Perhaps you should have let me talk," the Elf said simply.

Menelcar grinned. "I rather thought Ardinlas did a good job back there."

The company grinned, and Thraelith guided them to their rooms. "Good night. Lord Elrond will meet with you on the morrow."

Ardinlas sat alone in her room, staring out the window. What help can Elrond give...and will it be enough to stop the Orcs?

(soory it was been soo long. This thread seams to be the last one i get to.)

In the morning Bain went to check over the young Bell. She was glade that his color was improving. Even as the sun came up so did his color. Bain knew it was sign though her training insisted that he still was not out of the woods it was good to see him moving in the right direction.

The old Bell had been watching the healer and his grandson very closely. He reach the conclusion that the elleth was careing for his grandson a good deal more then one would have thought for a healer. The old ellon desided that there was some spark there before he was injured. He smiled gently at the elleth now.

Old Bell spoke softly now,"My grandson is a very strong haerted ellon he will continue to recover. I am deeply glad that he is in such capable hands. I know I would never have been able to save him." He stoped then about aminute later he added,"maybe you will become a member of my family yet."

The shock at the words impossible for Bain to not show. The old ellon laughed softly. "I can see you have not truly realized how much your concern for my grandson is so appearant or how it is obviously a concern beyond just that of a haeler."

Bain chuckled now. "You are right I do have a deep concern for Bell but I dont think it well ever grow to the kind of love and affection you are thinking of. For all you know of me I am just here to repay a debt. After all I have lost a Mirkwood native before." Part of Bain know that she should just tell the old ellon the truth but it might be better if he didnt know for now.

Bain was still looking forward to getting to battle and part of her felt that going into battle and have this kind old one worring about her would not be good for either of them

The morning and even the after noon passed quitely in the camp. Every one was getting settled and new grouping were being made to get the new comers mixed in with those that were already there.

In the eveing the commader and luit. came in to check on the wounded. They were calm at the news that by the next day at this time the healing tent wound only have 2 patients left. They made it plain that until there was a major push niether of the haelers would see battle again. The only way around that would be if the one who had arrived with Bain, Ardinlas, asked to have Bain with her.

(*Cheers!* This up and running again!)

The nect morning, Elrond summoned only Ardinlas to his council room. "I will send three of my kind with you. With the threat of danger, I cannot be sure of my own safety."

Ardinlas nodded. "Very well. And I thank you, my lord."

The next morning, the company set out, with three Elves added to their number. Ardinlas didn't know their names yet, but as they rode on, a conversation was struck up, and Ardinlas listened only vaguely, her mind on other things.

(Sorry it is so short. I don't have too much time!)

Night passed easily.

The next morning the young bell opened up his eyes and saw his grand father sitting there changing his dressing. He was very aware of his grandfathers feelings would be toward Bain if he knew who she was so he chose to ask only,"were is the other healer?"

THe old Bell smilled now. "The elleth is fine she went out for a walk in the morning air. She very bain. She went far beyond the normal to help you through this injury. She did not even see to her own wounds from that attack until every one was taken care of. She has been much concerned for you. I told her you have a strong fighting spirit."

The young Bell was come what confused. "You dont seam up set by her being here, why not?"

THe old Bell knew his grandson was aware of this elleth's connection to his son. At least that was all the old ellon thought it was. "I know that my son died in Lothlorien. I can not blame her for not being able to save him. She was no healer. Yes, I am sad to know he is dead, but at least there is not a question of him turning his back on us."

The young Bell thought for a minute then spoke carefully, "I tried to be angry with her when I found out she was connected to uncle Bell but I could not. She is a good honorable elleth."

Mean while Bain was walking through the camp and there was a sudden ruckus. The fighting elves all took off for one spot. Bain know what that ment.

She turned and went quickly back to the healing tent.
Seh entered in time to hear the last couple of comments.

SHe came forward. "I am glad you are awake. YOu will be glad to know that your grandfather has accepted being unable to save your uncle. Now my helper and I will have to get a move on. There is a battle going on across the camp so I have no doubt we will have work to do soon."

With that Bain went and set up for the expected wounded.

They were not long in coming. With in half an hour the battle was over and there was 8 more wounded and 1 who did not even make to the healing tent. The 2 healers worked quickly to make sure that there would be no more deaths.

That is how tha rest of the day was spent.

The group of six riders rode hard through the night, wanting to get back to Dol Guldur as soon as they could. The next day, thanks to the all night ride with barely a rest, the riders were at the edge of Mirkwood. Ardinlas addressed the others as they sat around a fire, taking a respite from the ride. "I am going to ride ahead tonight and alert the commander, Celebeth, that I have a few more people to join in the fight. It is easiest if I go alone, though I know that any one of you could best me in going. However, this is one trip I am making alone."

Without another word, Ardinlas mounted Shadow and looked at the others. Mithlirian nodded, and one of the Elves muttered, "Good luck." Shadow flew into the forest at such a high speed that one could hardly see them. Ardinlas had no idea why the Elves had allowed her to address them in a superior matter, but the thought was soon forgotten as Shadow picked up speed.

An hour later, Ardinlas rode into the midst of turmoil as more orcs were pouring into the camp. How many more? Ardinlas thought in desperation. "Celebeth!" the Half-Elf cried as Shadow thundered into camp, with Ardinlas wielding Wyndfar.

The Elf turned in surprise. "Ardinlas!" He looked behind her to see if she brought aid. "Where is Mithlirian and others? Did you not get help?"

"I did, but they are resting now. They will be here later tonight, I swear." Ardinlas was dismissed by the Elf with a nod, and she turned Shadow to the healing tent. Galloping her horse over to it, she leapt off his back. Rushing into the tent, she saw Bain and said, "I see you have a lot on your hands right now. Do you need help?"

Bain was surprised to see the half elf come into the tent.

her words, "I see you have a lot on your hands right now. Do you need help?"

were even more of a shock. Bain spoke, "we could use a bit more help but if there is any danger that your stay here will endanger the camp then you must go and fight. This fight is lasting longer then they have and bringing us more wounded as well. THe call is yours I have not been outside so I dont know the condition of the camp or how many orcs we are still fighting today."

Ardinlas nodded. "I see. Well, there are others coming soon. Elrond only gave me three Elves, so I suppose that will have to do. They should be here shortly. If you need me, look for Shadow; I will be on him. It is getting more dangerous out there, but I thrive on danger. I shall see you later."

Ardinlas ducked out of the tent and whistled for Shadow. The white horse was at her side in a flash, and she set about looking for trouble spots. There were orcs pouring into the camp near the commander's tent, and Ardinlas urged Shadow over to the spot. Unsheathing Wyndfar, she sliced the throat of one enemy and knocked another over the head. Elves were numerous here, but not enough to fend off all the attackers. We need more help, she thought. Not just three more Elves. Meanwhile, Ardinlas would defeat as many as possible until such help arrived.

Bain was surprised when Ardinlas left the tent. She actually stoped in mid stich. Bain knew her companion well enough to know that she would not have left if the fight was not dire.

Bain finished stiching up the wounded elf. Then she went over to old Bell. "I know things must be bad out there or we would have had another hand." WIth that she picked up ther sword and and yelled at the guard. "GO, fight, now!"

The ellon did not wait for a second order he took off.

Bain then spoke to old Bell. "put on your sword as well" As soon as he had done so Bain took off out of the tent.

The gaurd was heading straight for the fight by the commanders tent. Bain took off in that direction as well, it was the worst area in camp. The rest of camp seamed to be slowly over coming the orcs but that area was having difficutly.

Bain noticied Ardinlas fighting as she came up. Bain joined the ranks and wasted no time dealing with the orc nearest her. the defenses there was slim but with 3 new fighters the rest of the fighters seams to take heart that they had been lacking just a bit ago.

The orcs were now not able to advance any further. Bain knew it would take time but they now were no longer backing up.

Bain was taking on one orc after the next. there was no time to worry if she had done right or if she would be yelled at by the commander but there was no question this had been a major attack and evey one was needed.

Mean while in the healing tent old Bell was continueing to help what elves as made it back that far.

All of the wounded who were awake found and kept hold of their daggers they all were willing to help the old ellen if any orc found its way in there.

(i will leave it like this so you can post your own fighting. I did assume you did not mean for the camp to be fully over run this soon. If I was wrong let me know ar post a reversal of the improvements,)

(No, I just thought more reenforcments from the enemy would add more drama...the camp won't be overrun yet...)

Ardinlas saw Bain come to help, and she yelled over the din of battle. "You have decided to be out here too? What about the injured?" Shadow reared as an orc with a broadsword slashed at his chest. Ardinlas grabbed his mane with one hand and hacked at the orc, beheading him. It seemed that there were more coming, but estimating, Ardinlas thought there were only forty orcs.

Battle dragged on for about three hours, with the camp's inhabitants somehow defending themselves with the strength of more than they had. I need to ride out and get more aid, she thought desprately. We will be overrun otherwise.

After shadow reared Bain spoke loadly to be heard over the battle. "there is still sone one to tend to wounded. With the speed you left it seamed like. " She paused having to deal with 2 orcs one right after the other, then she continuted. "we were in for a major battle. So I sent the gaurd and joined my self just to make sure we live to fight another day."

At that point she had to jump out of the way as an orc tried to split her in half veritcally. Then she decapitaited it.

There was no time for talking now, The next 3 hours was grueling and left every one in camp unsure where all the orcs could be coming from but no amount of time to ask such a question.

In the healing tent Bell was doing his best and 3 hours later he had only lost of elf who had made it to the healing tent.

(I'm joining as an Elf named Lindar.)

Lindar had been traveling for days from Rivendell. He lived in Mirkwood but he visited his sister at Rivendell soemtimes. As he approached he saw many orcs and Elves fighting. "Faster Gildaus!" Lindar said as he made his way down to the battle. He clashed with the orcs sending most of them flying through the air. He cut down many of them, and soon the fight was over. Lindar left with a wounded arm. Lindar hugged Gildaus's neck after he dismounted. "Is everyone alright?" Lindar asked. He saw the tent in which many elves were being tended. "I guess I'd better get my arm fixed up." Lindar thought.

Once the fighting was over Bain made her way back tothe healing tent.

Old bell was looking rather flustered but had not given up.

Bain came over to him. "The fighting is now over. Take a deep breath or 2 and we can start taking care of the wounded again."

Bain had noticed a late arrival to the fight. She was surprised to see him enter the healing tent.

But before she was able to appoach him old bell asked, "are you sure you are unhurt this time?"

She smiled tiredly, "I was not injured, it was just as long fight."

The Bain went over to the new comer. Shed had just finished cleaning her Lorien sword and sheathed it as she reached him.

Her words were soft, "are you here be cause you were injured or do have healing skills as well and wish to help?"

( I am going to assume he will admit needing help. )

Bain then saw to the newcomer. It was not life threatening injury. Bain spoke to him as she worked on his arm. "I thank you, your arrival was very timely. It would have been a much longer fight if you had not showed up. My name is Bain by the way. I will need to change this dressing later or inthe morning at the latest. It will be some time before all the wounded are tended im afraid this battle took a few lives as well." She smiled slighlty at the newcomer. She was tired but had to finish treating the wounded before her day was done.

((if you had something else in mind for the injury let me know and ill edit))

Bain could take some pride in her work both as a fighter as healing now that the fighting was done.

At that point old Bell came up. "We have three very serious cases and a dozen or 2 lesser injuries. Were do you wish to start?"

Bain looked back to the new comer, "i have to go now I will see you later"

She turned back to old Bell "I will start the worst injured you start with the lesser ones and we will meet in the middle. If some thing concerns you let me know."

So the 2 work on the wounded

(You don't need to edit! it's fine.)

Lindar thanked Bain then left. He cleaned his sword then put it in his sheath. He walked around the trees for a long while. He had a lot to think about. His sister was to be married soon. Of course he was happy but he didn't know much about this elf. "It is not my decision." Lindar said. Then he sat against a tree and ate some food his sister had packed for his journey. He heard a noise in the wood. "Who is there?" Lindar asked. No one answered....

Bain and old Bell were able to take care of all the wounded. They lost no more lives, though at least 4 would not be up to fighting again for some time.

They had just finished up when the commander and his luitenent entered the tent. The commander spoke" I told you before, Bain, that I did not want you to be fighting. On the other hand your fighting was greatly needed and without it we may have been over run." The commander paused, "dont do it again or else."

He turned and walked out without looking back.

Bain was totally confused. She looked at old Bell and the old ellon just shrugged his sholders. He, for personel reasons, did not want to see this elleth in battle but he has no idea what the commander ment.

Bain sighed then spoke. "I am going for a walk. I need to think."

Bain noticed that the gaurd in the healing tent had been replaced before the wounded were done being treated.

Bain wandered through camp then into the woods. She heard a noise then a voice.

"Who is there?" Lindar asked

Bain came closer not sure if his unknown male had made the sound or not.

Bain spoke when she was close enough to do so in her normal voice, "I am Bain, who are you and why are you being so noisy?" Bain was careful to keep her tone from sounding like she was accusing of some thing.

(Welcome, Elfmaiden!!)

The battle done, Ardinlas sought out Celebeth, the commander of the forces at Dol Guldur. She saw him emerging from the healing tent. "Celebeth!" she cried, riding up to the elf. "What news there?"

Celebeth sighed and straightened his back. "Everything is all right. We didn't lose too many, thank goodness."

"I am sorry I could only bring three elves from Imladris. Elrond wouldn't permit more. However, did you see the man Menelcar? He hails from Dol Amroth and assisted us as well."

Celebeth nodded. "I did, but what purpose has he here?"

"He is a wanderer, like I am. He means well, and Mithlirian approved."

The elf Mithlirian and Menelcar rode up to them. Both were unscathed. Celebeth looked at them all. "You fought well, all of you, and I thank you for your help." The elf left without another word.

Menelcar looked at his companions. "He's a one to say many words, isn't he?"

-------------------------------------

Ardinlas left her companions and rode into the forest alone. Shadow and she were exhausted. Having not slept too well within the last few days had taken its toll on both of them. Shadow walked with his head down; alert he was, but tired. A sound in the forest caused Shadow to raise his head up and prick his ears forward. Ardinlas withdrew her sword and rode Shadow around a bend in the trail. She saw Bain and another person, male by the looks of it, together, and they seemed alert for the same noise that Ardinlas had heard.

"Hello, Bain," Ardinlas said, coming up upon them. "Who is this here?"

"I am Lindar." Lindar said. Ardinlas nodded. "I heard something, could be a stray orc." Lindar said. He clutched his arm, it was still sore. "Should we find out what is in the forest?" Lindar asked...

Bain nodded to Ardinlas. " I am glad you made it unscathed. But I think you are right we dont want to leave some unknown wandering around this close to camp this soon after a battle"

Bain pulled her sword which she had yet to unstrap.

Bain looked and listened intently in the direction the sound had came from.

( soory its so short. Now the question is what are we going to find, 2 or 3 orcs or something unexected? I personely vote for unexpected. Orcs have became the norm for this thread, but its not mine so I leave it to you, Dinenlasse)

(Just an idea, I can edit.)

Suddenly there was the sound of a war cry. "Easterlings!" Lindar whispered, he had met up with them before. He looked up, a tree would be a safe place for bombardment. Before anyone could ask Lindar jumped up into a tree, he signaled for the others to do the same. As soon as an Easterling came insight, Lindar shot him. But pain shot up his arm, he had forgotten he was wounded himself. He hoped the others had good archer skills, because until more elves arrived this was the only way to stay alive. "Shoot at them, or else we're all going to be dead!" Lindar said, he spoke only loud enough for them to hear. Then he realized that the Easterlings had no way to find them. They had not eyes like the elves so if they stayed still they would not be seen, but the other elves were in danger, the elves that did not know of the sudden attack. Lindar made a quick decision, since he couldn't fight he would have to warn the people. "Stay here, I must warn the others." Lindar said. He quickly lept from tree to tree.
He looked around for some elves but they were probably still where the other battlefeild had been, helping the injured still off the field. Suddenly he heard a sound, an Easterling. He jumped to the next tree, but as he landed he felt a pain in his back, he had been shot. He felt himself fall backwards. When he hit the ground he looked up to see the Easterling staring at him, then he remembered nothing more.

(Great idea!)

"Easterlings?" Ardinlas gasped, her senses immediately alert. She leapt into a tree like Lindar had done and sent Shadow off into the woods back to camp. Having no bow or arrows, Ardinlas knew she couldn't fight from the trees. Instead, she waited for more Easterlings to come. Leaping from the tree, Ardinlas went to work fighting the enemy. Having not seen Lindar leave, she had no idea that he had been injured. Her thoughts were on the battle at hand, yet again.

Her mind at one with her body, the lady fought. There were only about fifteen, but more could be on the way. Wyndfar sang as it beheaded one Easterling and paralyzed another's sword arm, but one clever archer loosed an arrow, and it struck Ardinlas in the arm. She wrenched it out, but her sword had fallen. Taking out her father's dagger, she returned to battle with a will, though now her sword arm was weak,

(cool change of pace)

Bain climbed into a tree but before she could tell Lindar that her bow and quiver were back at camp he had taken off.

No sooner had Ardinlas slipped out of the tree to fight so did she.

She sword finding the first easterling with no problem but the next one knew she was coming so put up a bit more a chalenge.

Bain was dismayed to see Ardinlas hit by an arrow and decided it would not be wise to stay still for long.

She moved around a lot more and more oddly and was rewarded by having an eager archer miss her by inches and hit another man in the shoulder.

Now she had taken out 3. It was no easy task to fight these when you were wondering when an arrow would strike you.

Bain wandered how far the call for help of the lorien gard would carry and if there were any in camp to under stand it. She paused with her back against a tree and let out the whistel.

The next fight was complicated by 2 arrow flying over her shoulder.

(no time for fixing typos right now maybe tomarrow.)

Suddenly Lindar woke, he had heard the whistle and although he was a Mirkwood elf he had been taught all the Lorien whistles by his friend. Then as he looked around he saw the Easterling. He was staring down at him. Then another easterling approached, they spoke in their language. "They're probably figuring out how to kill me." Lindar thought. Then he wondered if he should whistle back for help. He was about to but suddenly the easterling picked him up. He was slung over his shoulder and they began running. "Why do they want me?" Lindar wondered. He began whitling, he really needed help now. He was still very weak, the wound in his back still bled and Lindar expected if he didn't get help he would die. Finally the easterlings reached a clearing. What were they doing with him? Finally they dropped him. They shouted a strange call in their language and he saw on the horizon more Easterlings came. He had to warn the elves, a daring escape was in order. He watched the easterlings closely, why did they want him he still pondered. Finally he knew what to do, one of the easterlings had put his spear down. Lindar picked it up with the only strengh he had left. He stabbed one of the easterlings. The other one shouted and fell to the injured easterlings side. Lindar stood, although it pained him, and ran for the forest. When he finally entered the forest he fell, he couldn't take another step. He whistled loudly, if no one heard him he would take his secret to the grave.

Bain's ears picked up the sound of a patrol. She called out for caution.

Then she swung even harder at the nearest Haridrim. He staggered back words. Then she swung again and he was no more.

At that piont the patrol arrived and with their help the remaining men were taken care of in short order.

( if there was some thing else in mind to end this fight let me know.)

Bain then went over to Ardinlas. Even though she knew the half elf well enough to know that she would not like it. Bain did a field dressing on the wound and made sure it would stop the bleeding.

Then Bain looked around for the new comer. He was no were in sight. Realizing this Bain turned to the patrol and spoke, "is there a tracer among you, an elf has gone missing."

One ellon stepped forward. Nodded and started looking around the eadge of the battle area. It did not take him long to find the path that had foot steps leaving the area.

He spoke, " I have found were the humans left instead of staying to face their death. They may have carried the elf. The prints of one of them are deeper then the other." As soon as those words had left his mouth he started off down the trail. Bain followed.

The commander of the patrol spoke, "I loan you my tracker but the rest of us must continue on our patrol."

Bain nodded, she wished she had a bow and quiver but there was nothing to be done about that now.

The tracker had no trouble following the path. At one point they heard the call for aid. This spured the tracker but he did not want to loose the trail.

It was not too long when they saw something on tthe ground ahead.

As soon as Bain couold see it was Lindar she rushed to him. He was badly hurt. He had lost a lot of blood but as of this moment he was live.

Bain wasted no time she quickly bound his wounds and looked around for a way to get him back to camp.

"Bain! there are more Easterlings coming, hundreds! We must get more elves to fight!" Lindar said after she had found him.

"More Easterlings?" Ardinlas cried incredulously, her shoulder aching. "Hundreds you say? And we need more elves to fight? What chance have we at finding the amount necessary to fight them? But whatever, let me go search out and find aid. Elrond must aid us now, and I shall go back to Thranduil and update him. I will leave this very hour, but now, what say all of you?"

Bain nodded. "we need to get him moving as soon as possible. You, ardinlas, need to inform the camp of what is coming as well as the king and Elrond. Myself and the tracker will get Lindar back as soon as we can. Go NOW!"

Bain knew she did not have the athority to order the half- elf but hoped she would see the wisdom and do what she said any way.

Bain turned to the tracker, hopeing Ardinlas would leave if she acted like she had left, and gave him directions on what they would need. The ellon took off and returned with the beginings in just a couple of minutes. Bain and the ellon were able to make a crude bower to carry Lindar on. Then they moved him onto it.

Bain took his hand firmly looking into his eyes. Her words,"listen to me carefully Lindar. This will not be a confortable ride for you. I have no herbs to help with the pain and we will have drag you and it will be rough."

Bain went back to the tracker and they both took on side of the bower and took off at a fast walk.

Bain prayed the ellon would just hold still. They had not had extra supplies to tie him down, him leaving the make shift carrier would only hurt him. Bain knew this was going to be a very painful journey for Lindar.

Ardinlas nodded, took leave of Celebeth, and leapt on Shadow's back. Nodding farewell to Bain, she urged him on. Shadow neighed and took off like white lightning, his speed unmatched by other horses. Turning him north, Ardinlas rode as hard as she could for Thranduil's halls. He would have the answer for her if no one else could. It would be a good three day ride for a normal rider, but with Shadow, the ride would lessen to only a day.

As Shadow crashed through the woods at a breakneck pace, Ardinlas noticed that her shoulder was getting weaker. Curse me for not getting this checked before, she thought viciously, gritting her teeth. It got to the point with her shoulder that she was forced to hold on to Shadow with one hand and have the other one tucked in close by her chest. When she saw Thranduil, she would have it taken care of there.

Bain hoped that Ardinlas's field dressing would hold up. If was difficult to say. But the female would be with more healers by the end of the day.

Bain looked back oever her shoulder at the elf on the make shift carrier. He seamed to be unware at this moment of what was going on.

The shadows of the trees were starting to lengthen as the sun began to set over the forest. Ardinlas was about three-quarters of the way to the caves of Thranduil. Shoulder aching and heart sinking, she continued north. She would have to spend the night in a sheltered glade to get her strength back for the remainder of the journey.

The next morning as the brilliant rays of the sun shone down, Ardinlas, well-rested and ready to ride, mounted Shadow and continued her trip. They made the outside gates at mid-morn, and Ardinlas shouted up to the guards in charge of the gate, "Open up and get Thranduil immediately! There is more danger at Dol Guldur, and I would speak with him." The gates opened, and the half-Elf rode through. She dismounted Shadow and rushed through the front doors of the palace. Making her way to Thranduil's presence chamber, Ardinlas threw open the doors, and Thranduil stood up in alarm. "Ardinlas, what is it?" he cried.

"Easterlings, Uncle! They have come in force upon Dol Guldur. We need all the elves you can spare or we will be overrun!" Ardinlas replied, holding her sides as she breathed in deeply.

"Of course I will spare many. But what happened with Lord Elrond?"

Ardinlas eyes narrowed in anger. "He gave us three! More he could spare, but he gave us three! I am going to him after here and pleading our cause once more. Maybe he will reconsider."

"Perchance he will, but meantime, is threescore enough?"

"Any will suffice, sire! But send them soon!"

"They will leave tonight, but meanwhile you need to rest. Your shoulder is bleeding heavily, and even Shadow cannot always maintain his speed."

Ardinlas agreed reluctantly and made her way to her chambers where she fell upon her bed and drifted off into a restless sleep.

Lindar laid there. He felt a burning pain. "Bain, I can't do this." Lindar said, he grabbed gher hand. Then he knew he would have to continue if he wanted to live so he relaxed and bared the pain. "I'm sorry I dispared, the pain got to me." Lindar said.

Dawn broke in all its splendor. Beams of red and orange shot through the sky like a painting, only more beautiful. Birds were heralding the morning with harmonious songs. It was a cool morning, but brilliant nonetheless. Flowers nodded sleepily as a light breeze stirred them. But the beauty of the morning was lost on Ardinlas as she stood in front of threescore elven warriors, each armed with a slender sword or a bow. The best archers were included, which would be a great help. Her voice carried over them, commanding but anxious at the same time. "You know your task. You are to go to Dol Guldur and aid those there. We are almost overwhelmed. I myself would go there with you, but I need to ride hard for Imladris to ask for his help. Ride hard yourselves, and look for Celebeth when you arrive. That is all you need to know for you are more skilled in the ways of war than I am. Go now." Sixty warriors ran through the forest like ghosts, their footsteps unheard by any. Ardinlas sighed, and mounting Shadow, she urged him west now, back to Imladris and back to the only one who could truly help them now.

Bain held Lindar's hand even as she kept walking.

She knew that some times just the sound of a calm voice could offer some help when other things were not available.
She spoke softly,"you have been through much. Now your job is simply to lie quietly and let us get you back. You have done an excellent job of getting us to you so we can call for back up. Get what rest you can while we get you to camp."

Bain knew he was in a lot of pain but tried to ignore it, but it was not in her nature to not try and help those in pain. Bain glanced at the trace who was helping her his eyes were grim but he did not speak. Bain could sence he wanted to move faster but also that it would only back thing more difficult for the passanger.

Bain spoke to the other carrier, "have faith, Ardinlas will not fail."

Ardinlas left Thranduil and rode hard for Imladris, making the city in two days. She stood in front of the elven lord and pleaded her case again. "My lord, we will be overrun if you do not help us more. You have seen the darkness, you know what will happen if we are not aided. Dol Guldur will fall to the enemy if you aid us not."

"What more help can I give? What will happen if we are attacked as well?" Elrond said, his fierce gaze locked on Ardinlas' face.

"Then I will come and fight for you! But why should Imladris be attacked? You have nothing of value to the enemy here."

"How can you be sure, little maid? You know nothing of here."

The elf's seeming arrogance angered her. "Then what can I do? Please advise me if you will not give us manpower. Where else can I go for help? Who can aid us now?" Her eyes were pleading, but it seemed Elrond was immovable.

(sorry I was away from this thread so long)

Bain and the scout carried Lindar the rest of the way to the camp.

They put Lindar on the high table used to treat the wounded.

Then the scout left and old Ball asked Bain what had happened and she gave him a brief run down. While she was talking she made a fresh and effective pain killer. Then she looked at Lindar. "he fought well and I have been unable to help his pain. I took nothing for that along."

Old Bell looked uncomfortable at the deep concern Bain seamed to feel for this ellon. The old elllon fought his unreasonable jealousy. Then he spoke, "the ellon is alive and that I know that is due to you healing skills. You know my grandson is nearly fully recovered now, because of you."

Them the two elves went back to Lindar. Bain spoke, "Lindar let us help you sit up and take the pain killer. It will improve your out look."

Ardinlas left Imladris in a furious rage. Elrond had promised her aid soon, but in the meantime, the maid would ride back to Dol Guldur and help out as much as she could. In three days, Shadow charged into the camp, and Ardinlas leapt off his back. She rushed into the commanding tent and hailed Celebeth.

"What is wrong?" he asked, his eyes alit with concern for Ardinlas, who stood in front of him with tears of rage welling up in her own.

"Elrond promised us aid, but he said that there was nothing he could do," Ardinlas replied scathingly, saying the elven lord's name with hatred. "What more can we do? I will ride the whole of Middle-Earth to find more help, but then we will be too late!" She ran her hands through her hair in agony, the helplessness of the situation overwhelming her.

Celebeth put a hand on her shoulder. "Ardinlas, we will have help. I will send Mithlirian out with Menelcar while you stay in here and rest." Ardinlas protested, but the elf said firmly, "I am the commander here, and I tell you to rest." He left the tent in a hurry and summoned Mithlirian and Menelcar. "Go out and try to recruit aid in place of Ardinlas. She is worn, and you are the only two I would trust at this moment to get the job done." The elf and man galloped off after agreeing immediately.

(Elfmaiden, where are you?)
