"The watery one is infact imbued with acid arrow, its looses off projectiles of pure acid, that's why it has that slight green tinge. i haven't named it yet. The protection one is named Neversleep, because it, if you will, never stops protecting you and thus never sleeps." she smiled

"Pick one Wolf, as a gift, as an invitation to become a honoury member of our little band of archers." Elruwen smiled

**Celebros smiled at Elerrina, taking hold of her hand**
"And there you were getting all tetchy because I wouldn't let you walk through the workshop unescorted and because I wouldn't tell you what I was doing either."

"There is one more ring I have left to show you all...It was one that was made for my late husband. I cannot see how it was created but it seems to have been wrought out of pure shadow, It has puzzled me for years. I want to know what you four think of it." Elruwen said "Its very strange because I've worn it a few times in the past and it seems to sing during battle, it's very odd indeed not only that but it sings when ever go anywere near the old archers Runestones but its silent any other time."

**She produced the ring from a belt pouch and laid it down on the table. It did indeed look like it was wrought from pure shadow, not a trace of metal in sight, just a ring of black swirling shadows with a few stray shadowy tendrils.**

"'Oh, that is very different, isn't it?" Elerrina said. "It is very beautiful, Elruwen. Did your husband actually make the ring? Or was it crafted by someone else? I have never seen anything even remotely like that!"

(ooc: It will be my plesure to join, sorry this is so short, no time!)

"That is truly amazing, it just looks as though light just could not touch the ring of shadow. Had I not some faith in the purity of its poseser, I would fear it to be of darker arts.

Yours Elerrina, that is probibly the most beautiful ring I have seen. I can imagine no other like it. If your husband find only such a gift worthy, you must be special to him indeed."

Wolf looked though the box again, and pulled out a cold iron band.

Elerrina looked at Celebros and smiled, "He is very special to me as well, tho we aren't married, Wolf." Ele turned to Elruwen, "What is the ring he chose, 'Ruwen? I don't think I've seen anything like that in your displays before. Such austerity is not usual in Elvish jewelry. That being the case, it must have a very un-austere story behind it."

"Yes Elerrina, Elindir forged the ring. He was slain before he could tell me its secrets though. It was the last thing he ever made. I think that he somehow managed to tap into the shadow energies of the world and create this. I would know more if I knew how to activate it, but with it not being metal it isn't possible to find the command word or words engraved into it." Elruwen repiled "And ask Celebros about the ring, I'm not the one that forges them."

"Thats an unusual choice Wolf. Thats the only ring in which I managed to combine the effects of vampiric touch and wall of ice without blowing things up in the process. For some reson vampiric touch will only take to ferrous metals" Celebros said in answer to Elerrina's question "What drew you that particular ring Wolf?" he then asked

“I do not know, it seemed to me the one to pick. Almost as though the ring had chose me, rather then the other way around. I know not what those spells do, but I’m sure they will reveal themselves at the appropriate time.”

Wolf slipped the ring on his left hand and looked at it again, before returning his hand to the table.

"I hope I can live up to such a gift."

"Wolf," Elerrina said thoughtfully, "you might try simply meditating using the ring as the focal point and see what comes into your mind. Perhaps the act of clearing your mind of the surface clutter we all have jumbling about, will let the ring speak to you." She looked at him speculatively, "Yes, I would think you know how to meditate already... perhaps not in the Elven style, but effective. Yes?" He looked to be a very thoughtful and perceptive Man, and Elerrina thought his mind would be open to such practices.

"I'm sure you will mellon nin." Elruwen said "Just make sure you're ready to come and join us on whatever our next little quest may be."

"There are cheat ways to that method but unfortunatley they only work for the person that forged the ring to start with." Celebros added in response to what Elerrina had said

"I do not think I would want to cheat with such forces envolved. I don't imagine I'd come out on the good side of such things."

Wolf tried to cover a yawn, and streached. "I'll be ready... right after a nap."

"There is a bench in the workshop if you want to maken use of it, its the one with all the furs draped across it. I'm not using the forge at present so it should be relatively quiet in there." Elruwen said

"Mother, are we going to be heading back out to the archery range at all this afternoon?" Celebros asked

"I don't know yet." She smiled in reply "It depends on what Kyran and Elerrina wish to do."

Wolf tried the bench for a little while, gave up. Walked outside and picked a nice spot in the sun and currled up on his cloak. Passing into a state of half sleep he rested and recovered from the long trip he had just returned from.

Elerrina came back into the shop area from the kitchen where she'd been cleaning up, she looked around. "Where'd everyone go? Kyran and Wolf? Did I hear something about going back to the archery range?" She gave Celebros a measured and very wicked grin, "Do you think you're up to that?"

"Wolf found that he just couldn't make himself comfortable on the bench in the workshop so he's gone outside for a nap. Kyran I have no idea where he's gone, perhaps its the call of nature." Elruwen replied, chuckling a little

"I wouldn't mind going up to the archery range Ele...but I was wondering if we should just laze around in my attic for what's left of the afternoon." Celebros replied with a sly grin

"I think not Celebros, you need to improve on combat imbuing." Elruwen laughed "Come on, off to the range with you." **She prodded him in the back with the nock end of an arrow.**

Elerrina collected her gear again, and Celebros, then ran ahead of him, laughing, up the hill toward the archery range. Spotting Wolf, who had opened one eye at the noise, she waved, and continued on up the hillside once again.

"Just to warn you, friend Wolf, we are headed back to the archery range to finish our lesson!" She called back to him as she scampered ahead of Celebros, evading his occasional playful grab for her tunic. She had slowed and turned to speak to Wolf, and laughed as Celebros nearly caught her, then danced out of reach again. Looking back down the hill, she spotted Elruwen coming back as well.

"Your mother is coming! Behave yourself..." She teased.

"I know she's coming, but she isn't here yet is she?" Celebros giggled
**Celebros lunged at her in what could be described as a rugby tackle. Bringing her to the ground. He then wrapped his arms around her waist refusing to let go**
"Haha you can't get away from me now you little vixen." he laughed

**Elruwen carried on walking up the hill**

Looking at him lovingly, Elerrina laughed and slipped her arms around his waist, too, then reached up to kiss him warmly. "You are so fun," she said softly, as she turned to sit by him. He rose to his feet and reached to help her up.

~~ You are a party pooper, Mother... but you aren't here yet!~~ He reached over and embraced Elerrina again, kissing her for several moments before pulling slightly away. ~~ Let's turn in early tonight, my love...~~ he messaged her only with a mental and physical smile. The loft that was 'his room' at the Armoury was well away from his mother's room. ~~ Naur will have to stay in the showroom tonight...~~ he added.

**Elruwen soon came into veiw, carrying her gear with her.**

"Right you two enough play so lets get back to work." she laughed "Elerrina if I give you the basics for forming a seeker arrow do you think you would be able to manage by yourself while I teach Celebros the basics?"

"Umm, yes, I think so. The shooting part is easy enough, of course, but I need to know how to make the arrow differentiate. Is it just 'intent' with the proper spell that gets it to its intended target?" She paused, "For that matter, can these be made ahead of time, or does it have to be done on the spot?" It seemed to her that if any of the work could be done beforehand it would be quicker, but then you may not know exactly what the target would be until the last minute.

Oh, well, Elruwen would know...

"Which ever target you aim at the arrow will strike, even if it means flying round corners and mundane objects to reach it. You just need to declare the arrow as a seeker arrow by saying the little incantation on this scrap of parchment." Elruwen smiled, handing her the paper.

**Elruwen then started to go through the basics of combat imbuing with Celebros it wasn't that much different to hat he already did with rings and the like, the only differences were that the spells had to be imbued faster and there was absolutely no room for error.**

Celebros listened to Elruwen carefully, then asked, "Mother, what happens if I don't do the spell fast enough? Do you mean if I say it too slowly it won't work... or just generally allow time for an Orc or something to get too close to me?" With a couple of exceptions, there was no hurry in imbuing rings or bracelets.

Elerrina meanwhile was chortling to herself about seeker arrows. "These are great... an arrow that flies around corners or rocks!" She held the paper in her hands and absorbed the spell into her memory; when she wanted it, it would be on her tongue as if she'd used it a hundred times before. She looked at the paper curiously; the words were written in a spidery script, almost a notation form.

Taking an arrow, she purposefully put a tree between herself and the straw target. She nocked the arrow, mindful of the intended target, then allowed the words of the spell to come forth. She loosed the arrow and tried to watch it go around the tree, but it was so fast, all she heard was the thwack! as the arrow hit the papercovered target that was still out of sight.

"Oooooh, that works so well!! No Orc will escape me now!!" Elerrina said in delight. "How's it going, Celebros?" she called over to him and Elruwen.

"You need to cast and shoot within six seconds or the spell either backfires or is lost completely." Elruwen replies "It can be quite messy especially with spells like vampiric touch."

**she turned back to Elerrina.**

"Be careful with that spell you can only use that incantation a few times a day due to the amount of energy it drains from you. I've seen people die as a result." she said

"I'm doing fine my love, I'm just having a problem with speed spellcasting though, I'm somewhat unused to it." he grins

Ele walked over closer to Celebros, so she could speak more softly. "You might want to try visualizing the words in a block, if it's a short enough spell; sometimes that helps me. If you need to, you can use two 'pages', sort of. When you've said it a few times, it'll be easier... just let it flow."

Everyone being different, she didn't know if her little tricks would help him, but she offered the advice anyway. "You DO have an Ioun stone handy, don't you? Just in case?"

**he drew out the stone and activated it**
"Grrr its so hard to aim with this stone wizzing round my head." he grumbled

"Its only a precaution Celebros, you'll get used to it. You need to learn to put your pride in your pocket on occasions." Elruwen smiled

Having nocked an arrow, Ele paused before drawing back on the bowstring. "Die from this, 'Ruwen? Even Elves? I didn't know we could die from that sort of thing..."

She smiled at Celebros' lack of patience with himself. Males sometimes seemed to have problems with the trifling things and completely miss some of the big problems. "As the previous owner of a long tail and lion's whiskers," she called over to him, "I can vouch for the wisdom of having an Ioun Stone handy. That tail really hurt..." Just remembering made her squirm, and that was back in her earliest days of training, with 'Tika and Kyran.

She turned, drew her bow and let loose, all in one easy motion... and without saying the incantation. It was just a plain archery shot that way... right into the yellow!

((OOC- thanks, 'Ruwen... ))

"Well, I thought I had... it was back when I had just joined the Archers with a friend of mine named Natika. Kyran hadn't joined yet, I think, tho he came in a few days later.

Anyway, as I recall... we had done the exercise where we absorbed that huge book of spells, and Elruwen had told us to practice some... Level One. I took on one that was beyond my level of expertise (which was nil) and tried to turn a little dog into a lion. I got partway through and had to stop for some reason I don't recall. Well, when I stopped, the spell backfired and *I* started turning into the lion!! It was very distressing! But someone called your mother or I did, and she set things to rights again.... namely me.... but by then I had grown a long lions tail! Fortunately, I had a skirt on that day or it would have been even more painful than it was! I had morphed far enough along to have the long tail and I sported a nice set of whiskers and ears to boot!"

Elerrina laughed at the memory, but it was a reminder to her that she always need to be cautious... she was not an 'expert' by any means!

Wolf raised his head, and looked at Elerrina, trying to imagine her with whiskers and a tail, decided it was far to strange to imagine. He settled down again, chuckling to himself at the images Elerina's stories elicited.

"My dear friend, Kyran, has made a few errors along the way, too, don't forget, 'Ruwen! Didn't he turn himself into something once? I don't even remember what it was now... he mixes Archer's magic with his own, and the results are sometimes... er, surprising!" Elerrina laughed her light and gentle laugh, and smiled at the others fondly and including Wolf into her gaze as well. "There is much to be learned here, friend Wolf, and we are blessed with a teacher who knows not only how to teach us, but how to save us from our mistakes! May thee listen well! Better than I did..." She laughed again.

Elerrina nocked another arrow, and this time as she drew back on her bow, she said the words that made the common arrow a 'seeker' arrow. Her intended target was a tree she knew was just past the brow of the hill... she couldn't actually see it, but she knew it was there. And she wasn't sure if intent was enough to make the arrow seek the target or if she had to be able to see it to some degree... if the arrow sought the tree, she'd know for sure!

Loosing the string, it went twang as the arrow shot away, and then the arrow sailed over the top of the hill.

"I didn't hear it hit, Celebros, but then the hill would have blocked some of the sound, too. I'm going to go look if you'd hold your fire for a few minutes."

Ele put her equipment down against a bush so no one would step on it accidentally and walked up the hill again, hoping she hadn't hit any one or anything untoward. The top of the tree was riffling slightly in the breeze.

The tree hadn't been hit, and Ele couldn't find her spent arrow anywhere... "How strange... Elruwen, what do you think happened to it?"

"No, I haven't climbed the tree yet. I wonder if I could have hit an animal or big bird? At least I don't see Wolf or some other person inadvertantly napping in the archery range..." she called back over the hill to Celebros and 'Ruwen.

Ele walked around the trunk again, then looked up into the thick branches and sheltering leaves. Well, she told herself, it's a good thing I'm not a big Elf! She found a low hanging branch and swung up on it, and as she did, she thought she heard a rustling and some movement above her, but she could see nothing through the thick leaf canopy above her. She carefully worked her way higher and higher.

Celebros called to her, "Where are you, Ele? Did you find something?"

"I'm climbing the tree, love! Ooff! Ouch, hit my head... I can't see anything yet, and I'm about halfway, I think... but..."
