Ramo smiled and nodded. "Of course Princess. May you be granted quiet dreams tonight to bless you." She left the room and walked the silent halls. Lothiriel had seemed worried, distracted by something. Her wedding was the following morning however. The maiden pushed it off as Bride's jitters and nothing more.

She had just bolted the door to her room when a strong hand clamped over her mouth. "Scream and you will regret it." Ramo turned to look into the cold blue eyes of Navinai. "Listen to me and do not speak." She nodded fearfully, he had never dared to do anything like this before. "Eomer has decided to send me to Dol Amroth. This is unacceptable. You will pursuade him that I am needed here." He grinned and cold swept over Ramo. She didn't know what he was planning but it could not be of any good. "I know your secret remember?? I do not think that the new Queen would be comfortable with her husbands mistress as her servant. At the very least the people would not like it. You understand your position now??" Without another word Navinai unbolted the door and was gone.

Ramo slammed the door shut and crumpled onto the floor. There was nothing she could do but talk to Eomer. It was far too late tonight and tomorrow was the wedding. She could not allow his reputation to be ruined falsely. And Lothiriel!! What would she think?? Ramo was trying desperatly to hold back the tears that threatned to consume her when a knock sounded on the door. Namian entered cautiously and she wrapped her arms around his neck, desperate for protection. "Something awful has happened!!"

Namian entered cautiously and she wrapped her arms around his neck, desperate for protection. "Something awful has happened!!"

"Ramo!"

Instantly, Namian's arms were around her, holding his love tightly. Since there was no couch in the room, and naught but the hard wooden chairs, he sank to the floor with her. The room was cold, and Ramo colder, but not he could well see, from the lack of heat within. Ramo had been badly frightened - though by what, or by whom, he didn't know.

Cradling her into his arms, Namian rocked her. "Tell me!" he begged softly, and gazed into her tear-filled eyes. "Please? What happened? Who frightened you? If someone has - they'll regret this day, deeply! I have the 'right' you know," and he smoothed a lock of Ramo's hair back from her face. "The King has given his permission, Ramo - so please, tell me!"

****************************

Eomer resumed his pacing, until Céne made his appearance. And, the man was taken aback at the look in his King's eyes.

"M-my lord?"

Immediately, Eomer King started in. "Where did you find that Navinai?" he demanded, and then held up his hand. "It doesn't matter, perhaps - and you can tell me later! But, his service has been terminated! He's arrogant, insolent, and disobedient like no one I've ever seen before! He's not only been banished from Rohan - but under confinement in his rooms!"

Pausing, Eomer swore under his breath, and jerked open the door to his office.

"You!" he caught the eye of a passing guard. "Whatever your duty is - you've new orders! From right now, get up to my Manservant's room - and guard the door! He's confined there until he's released into Prince Imrahil's custody! GO!" and slammed the door shut.

"Now - find me someone suitable for in the morning!" Eomer snapped at his Head of Staff. "Even if it's you Céne!"

Once the man had gone, Eomer King sank into his chair and held his head in his hands. How was it that Navinai caused such rage? This was rare for the Rohanian Ruler to be so furious.

But, tomorrow... was his and Lothiriel's Wedding Day! A day of joy, and promise - as well as promises to be given and received. He'd have felt better if he could speak to his beloved again tonight... but decided against it. Not even his sister would 'do' in this particular mood.

With a sigh, Eomer left his office, and returned to his private rooms. He'd 'done' for himself as a Rider... and he could do so again... at least, for tonight...

o O (I find I must once again apologize. My annoying 'real' life has kept me occupied and seems it will continue to do so But I will try and post LUVS!! Gwen and Eow please pm me as I have something I need to run past the both of you  )

Ramo buried her face in his tunic and cried. For some reason she was scared. She wouldn't put it past Navinai to hurt her physically, not if he would threaten the King! When she had gained control over her emotions she looked into Namian's concerned face. "Please? What happened? Who frightened you? If someone has - they'll regret this day, deeply! I have the 'right' you know," and he smoothed a lock of Ramo's hair back from her face. She smiled slightly at his touch. "It was Navinai. He told me that if I don't convince Eomer to somehow keep him here in Edoras that there would be trouble." Ramo bit her lip as a worried look came over her face. "He said that he would tell the Princess that I'm Eomer's mistress. And if Prince Imrahil were to find out he would never allow Lothiriel to be wed to Eomer. What do I do?!?" She honestly didn't know. If she refused to talk to Eomer than the Kings relationship with his beloved would suffer, and that would ruin years of diplomatic work between Dol Amroth and Rohan. On the other hand if she gave in to Navinais demands he would always have a certain level of control over her. "Namian I'm so confused!"

****************************************************

Although the newly placed guard at his door gave him an odd look as he walked past him, Navinai had no trouble going back to his rooms. After dressing for bed he began his preparations for tomorrow. It would be a day to remember.

Wondering what it was about Navinai, Namian hugged Ramo as he tried to think.

"He wants you to convince the King to allow him to stay in Edoras?" the young Rider asked, and at her confirmation, nodded. "That sound's like Eomer's already banished him! - Navinai's already done something seriously wrong! That means our King knows what kind of person Navinai is."

Namian paused, remembering his Ruler's ire in regards to Navinai's 'ride' with the Princess of Dol Amroth's maid that morning. "I wonder..." and chewed his lip. "Do you remember what I said about the King? - How - how... angry he was in the Stables to hear that Navinai had gone riding with - with... I don't know her name, I'm afraid, but he was! I wonder if Navinai's tried to-to-to 'compromise' her?"

The young Riders thoughts were as jumbled as his new love's, and Namian fumed that he didn't 'seem' to be making sense.

"Would you like me to speak to the King?" he asked, not knowing how to help - but determined to do so. "And," he added, and couldn't help but give Ramo's cheek a shy kiss, "Let Navinai try to harm one hair on your head, even by words - and he'll have me to answer to! He deserves more than banishment already just for frightening and threatening you, Ramo!"

"I don't know Namian. If Navinai somehow gets his way there's no telling what could happen."

Ramo sat up quickly. "I wouldn't put it past him! But Niela seems to be in love with him. She certainly wouldn't listen to me when I tried to talk with her. I hope she's all right." She sat motionless for a moment when he kissed her. No one had ever done that to her before. She blushed and hastily looked at the wall. "Don't do anything rach Namian. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for my sake. Besides I think Eomer will take care of Navinai." She reached for his hand smiling shyly.

"He is the King," Namian agreed, and smiling, squeezed Ramo's hand gently.

"I know you'll have duties tomorrow morning... getting the Princess ready," the young Rider's eyes stayed on his new love's. "But... when you're done, may I escort you to the Wedding?"

Namian got up, knowing the hour was growing late. "And, besides," and he hugged Ramo 'good night', "It's an honor to 'get in trouble' for you, Ramo! I'll be at the entrance to the Golden Hall - when you're through with your duties, if you want me to sit with you, I'll be waiting."

With that, the young Rider touched Ramo's cheek gently, and left. Morning would be dawning all too soon...

Niela fled the her rooms immediately humiliated and heartbroken. She spent the rest of the night pacing her room. The betrayed and shocked expression in Lothiriel's eyes haunted her and pierced her heart.
When the dawn's light streamed in through the windows Niela had made a difficult decision. She would request to be sent back to Dol Amroth to her father. He would, to say the least, be displeased but that was of little consequence.
Niela felt deeply that she caused Lothiriel enough disgrace and trouble.

Ril smiled and put her hand on her cheek. Even though she didn't love Namian yet she was beginning to devolp feelings for the kind-hearted Rider. She hadn't planned on attending the wedding but would now. If he was going to save a seat for her she would be there. A sudden thought struck her, the one that had been plaguing womankind since before time began. "What am I going to wear?!" For a few minutes she mentally went through her wardrobe, but all she had were common working dresses. Nothing at all like what should be worn to a Royal affair such as a wedding. Then she remembered. It was old and a bit out of date but nobody would be looking at her. Ramo quickly crossed the room to the old trunk and lifted the lid. There it was right on top. Some of the beading had fallen off but other than that it seemed to be in good repair.

[OOC: My apologies for having been away so long! Real Life has been none too kind, but I’ll make more of an effort now that the work has died down somewhat. ><]

Lihtfota yawned wearily as she made her way back to her room, dragging her fiddle in a most unbecoming way over her shoulder. If she had been more awake, she would probably have instantly disembowelled herself for even *thinking* of slinging the unfortunate instrument over her shoulder like that, but she was *tired*. They had been practicing for the celebrations for days on end now, and then the girl realised with a jolt that she had been neglecting Ramo and Namian, having been so caught up in her own world of music and instruments and performing arts.

Come to think of it, both Namian and Ramo hadn’t been looking too well the few times she had passed them by in the corridors over the past few days. And she had been hearing rumors – terrible ones – concerning Lothriel’s maid and one of Eomer’s servants, but had barely had the time to catch up on the gossip. The entertainers had been staying out of the way, not wanting any prying eyes catching a glimpse of their plans for the big night. Oh, but Eowyn was back, and Lihtfota dearly wanted to catch up with her old friend. What a pity they had drifted apart after Lihtfota had been sent to Gondor for further training. Actually, the girl mused, guilt starting to gnaw at the pit of her stomach in a most disconcerting way, she had lost contact with several old friends soon after she began her training as a minstrel proper. She was one of those people to whom nothing mattered but whatever they happened to have taken up as a pet project, and… and… She could kick herself for being such a selfish git.

//Ah well. Nothing for it now. You could go see Ramo, though, if she’s not preoccupied with Namian – not that it’s a bad thing, of course. You never had much time for her. No one had time for the filthy little half-breed; even your parents told you to stick to others of your own station. The princess made a good enough playmate, but you weren’t supposed to have time for *some others*.//

That did it. She was going to see Ramo *now*.

Ramo was alone in her room, digging out dresses from her wardrobe.

“Ramo?” Lihtfota knocked softly on the door.

Ramo jumped at the sound of a knock on the door. She looked around frantically for some kind of weapon, if Navinai had come back he would be welcomed at knife point. She drew her dagger and opened the door cautiously. "Ramo?" Lihtfota stood there looking at her quizically. "Oh, come in." She shoved the dagger back into her belt and opened the door wider. "I was just airing my dress for tomorrow." She lifted the bundle of fabric off the floor and shoved it into a corner. "Is there something you needed Lihtfota?"

With slow steps, Namian left Meduseld, though he threw an uneasy glance toward the Royal Wing of the Palace. The young Rider's thoughts were 'jumbled', but mostly, he was worried for Ramo.

He'd meant what he told her, Namian did, and there was a 'resoluteness' in his blue eyes that was rarely seen. He could fight - and had done so for his King in the past... and would do so again, if called on. It was every Rohirrim's duty to protect one's Homeland, one's people, and the people one loved. - But, this was 'different'. Navinai had threatened Ramo! - Not to mention, their King, but it was she who was the dearer to the Rider's heart...

And... just what did Navinai hope to 'gain' by all this? What 'advantage' was there to remaining in a place one had been Banished from that he would willingly treat an innocent like Namian's love in such a manner? What did Navinai 'care' about who Eomer King married?

With a sigh, Namian reached his small residence, and was swiftly abed. Yet, for long into the already-late night, his eyes stayed open as he tried to puzzle it out...

Lihtfota almost jumped when Ramo threw the door open and she found herself at knifepoint.

"Ramo! Are you alright? No wait that's a stupid question..." she dithered awhile, then stopped herself. "What happened?"

She entered the other girl's room, closing the door behind her.

"I'm sorry. I've just been so busy these days." she said quietly. "I'm going to play solo, you know... How's Namian?"

When Ramo didn't seem rather indisposed to answer, she looked at the dress Ramo had so hastily stuffed into the cupboard. It was old, rather worn, and of a style that would have been popular some ten years ago. That wouldn't do - Ramo was Eomer's, and now Lothriel's handmaid - she would have to appear presentable before the gathered company after all.

"You know, I think I have an extra dress my parents ordered from Gondor for the occasion." she continued conversationally. "They had one too many made after they found out I would be playing solo - I'll never be able to wear them all... And I do think it would suit you much better than it suits me... That shade of cream clashes rather nastily with my skin colour..."

Lihtfota trailed off, embarrassed, and let the question hang.

Ramo cast a loving glance at the crumpled dress. "It will do. Namian and I will sit with the guests I won't be singled out for anything." She pulled it out and as the soft candlelight fell on it she smiled. "It won't take much to repair it. I still have the beads. Besides an Elvish dress like this will set those noble-womens heads to spinning." She smoothed it out and tried to explain to Lihtfota. "This color was always my favorite. Dunen once told me that the wine-tint to it brought out the green in my eyes." She carefully began to sew the silver beads onto the sleeves in the proper pattern. "You'll see, it's going to be beautiful. Besides only the Bride should wear white at the wedding." Ramo looked up at her friend "I look forward to hearing you play. Will you be performing the ballad you did the other night? It was so beautiful." Ramo suddenly realized she was rambling and stopped.

"No, Eowyn asked me to play for her when she sings." Lihtfota replied quietly. "But what's been happening? I've been away with the other minstrels so long I missed out on all the gossip. What's that we've been hearing about Lothriel's maid --what's her name... Niela? - and Eomer's manservant? I didn't get a very good impression of that Niela when we were on the way here... she seemed so stuck up, or perhaps she just has something against Rohirrim..."

She started undoing the ribbons in her hair and brushing it out, blithely unaware of Ramo's troubles and humming a few snatches of various tunes.

Lothiriel woke before the sun the next day. It was still dark and the moon was just beginning to fade from the sky. She rose and paced nervously around her room.

" Today is the day I am getting married! I never thought I would be this nervous!"

Lothiriel walked to the looking glass and critically observed her appearance. Was Eomer happy with how she looked? Was he happy with her as a whole? As a wife? She thought so... she hoped so. She knew there were many things that they had yet to speak on; topics of children and her role as queen. But they would get to them eventually, of that she was certain. Lothiriel pulled a chair to her window and unable to sleep, rested her chin on the window, looking out over the plains, waiting for the sun to shine on what looked like a perfect day.

Eomer woke with the dawn, almost surprised he'd actually slept. For a moment, he stayed where he was, soaking in the quiet of this new day. His eyes wandered around the room... and catching sight of her portrait, leapt to his feet. It was his and Lothiriel's Wedding Day!

A smile spread on his face, and as he heard sounds from without his bedchamber, knew that Céne had followed his King's wishes. Grabbing his robe, Eomer went out, and was greeted by the smiling bow of one of the under-footmen he knew quite well.

"Good morning, My lord!" the man murmured, and to Eomer's delight, a breakfast of fruits such as he liked, and hot tea awaited him.

Yet, he could not eat much, and the Ruler of Rohan found himself nervously pacing about his rooms. Was Lothiriel up yet? he wondered, and wondered, too, what was running through his love's mind. Though Lothiriel had reassured him she'd felt she'd be happy here... and happy with him, Eomer knew she'd miss her father a great deal.

But, the thought that from this day forward, he'd have her love, and Lothiriel as wife to share his world with, was uppermost in the King's mind.

Before long, he'd abandoned his pacing, and with the under-footman's help was soon dressed.

Arrayed the Royal Greens, the Crest of Rohan embroidered on one shoulder in golden thread, Eomer surveyed himself critically in the mirror. His tunic was floor-length, and split (though why he'd never figured out) for riding. His crown, Eomer would wear, of course... but there was no need for it until he actually left his rooms for the Golden Hall.

Satisfied, and yet hoping Lothiriel would like his Royal Attire, Eomer gazed out the window, one hand grasping Lothiriel's Pendant-gift that was now a permanent fixture of his wardrobe, and waited to be called....

*****************************

Determined that he would not oversleep this day, Namian - despite receiving little of it, was awake, and readying himself for the day before the sun had risen. Knowing the Palace would be a 'bustle' of activity as the final arrangements were put into place, though, he would not yet leave his humble dwelling.

Though, anxiety over Ramo, and the King kept Namian fidgeting with his Rohirrim's raiment, tying and re-tying... adjusting and re-adjusting, and making certain every invisible speck of dust stayed well-away from his highly-polished boots...

o O (Meh everyones on edge I think And don't worry about the dress . . . it's fine lol)

Ramo stopped sewing and looked at her friend. "Lihtfota you should know better than to listen to gossip. First off it's not polite and second it is almost never true." She sighed. "But yes Niela and Navinai have become enamored with each other. I don't think he cares for her but it is not my place to say such." She fixed her green eyes shrewdly on the minstrel. "The hour is late and you must rest or you will be too tired to play for us tomorrow."

Dawn streamed through the small window and into Ramo's eyes. She groaned slightly and rubbed her neck. Sometime during the night she had fallen asleep over her dress. But it was finished and in a few hours time she would come back to her room and don it. And then sit with Namian for the wedding! Her heart skipped a beat as she thought of him. He was so kind and she knew that by allowing these feelings to continue she could get hurt. But it was time to trust again.

She carefully balanced the breakfast tray on her hip as she opened the door to Lothiriel's chambers. "Good morning Princess! I trust you slept well." The other woman was looking out the window. "Come eat M'lady. You will need your strength for this most important day." She tidied the room for a few minutes then knelt by her mistresses chair. "I have a wedding gift for you." Ramo handed her the tapestry and smiled. "It's not much but I wanted to give it to you before things got too busy."

****************************************************

Navinai laid in bed until the sun demanded him to rise. After washing his face with some cold water he wrapped the candlestick in the muslin-cloth. It would only be a matter of time before the guard came in with his meal. Then the plan would be put into action and revenge, sweet desirable revenge would be his.

o O (As you can tell I finally figured out Navinai's motivation today :evil grin: )

Brought back down to earth by Ramo's reasonable words, Lihtfota sighed, bid the other goodnight, and left the room.

When morning broke Lihtfota was back to her normal, cheerily insensitive self. She bounded out of bed at first light, washed in record time, and was tuning her harp before anyone else was up and about. Normally, she mused, she would have favoured the fiddle, but this was a *dignified* occasion, not the raucous frivolity she was used to. Perhaps later she would seek out Eowyn for some last-minute opinions and... catch up on gossip...? Well, she *did* want to find out what had been going on with Niela and Navinai anyway.

Lothiriel held up the tapestry and smiled, delighted. "Its beautiful, Ramo! You have quite some talent with sewing! Thank you, I shall put it over our bed so I can look at the sea before I turn in for the night. It looks as close to real as any can get. I thank you again."

Lothiriel carefully folded the tapestry and put it at the foot of her bed, she would hang it in Eomer's and her room later. Walking over to the closet, Lothiriel took out her wedding dress. She fingered the silver embroidery on the bodice and on the sleeves. Her fingers trailed down the low neck and across the bell shaped bottoms of the sleeves. Untying the silver ties in the back, Lothiriel stepped out of her nightgown into the dress. It fit comfortably. Ramo tied the back while Lothiriel combed through her hair. With every stroke, the curls at the bottom of her locks became more defined. She pulled it away from her face with two delicate silver clips, small enough for the crown to fit over. When her dress was completely tied up in the back, Lothiriel put on her white slippers that she wore for special occasions. Dabbing a bit of the lavendar Ramo had brought her on her neck and wrists, Lothiriel confidently sat on her bed, awaiting her father.

"That will be all, Ramo. Thank you so much. I hope you are attending the wedding?"

In the Kitchens, the Head Cook was grumbling. On top of serving all the guests (which he didn't mind at all), he now had to send a plate up to the King's ex-Manservant! It hadn't taken long for news of it to race through the Palace Staff... though the rumors and wonderings about it were held only in whispers.

Yet, it wasn't until he was sure everyone else (including his fellow-servants) had eaten before doing so.

At last though, a tray was loaded - though not with the 'best' of what was available for breakfast. If Navinai's tea was cold, so much the better...

Dutifully, a servant took it up, but at the door, was stopped by the guard. "I'll take it in!" the man growled, took hold of the tray, and dismissed the kitchen minion. Once he was gone, the guard turned and unlocked the door. "Your breakfast!" he said curtly, and went in...

********************************

Eowyn was standing at the window, gazing outside, and inhaled deeply. "Rohan in the morning!" she murmured, and smiled up at Faramir when her husband joined her. "We've not come back here often enough," Faramir said, seeing how his wife was enjoying being back in Edoras.

"No, but we can change that," Eowyn grinned, and then paused. "Speaking of changing... I'd better get ready now! I wanted to find Lihtfota and run through my song. It wouldn't do for me to ruin her beautiful playing by not practicing at least once!"

With a kiss to her husband's cheek, Eowyn flew through changing her clothes, and giving the chuckling Faramir a wink, "Save me a place!" she teased, and hurried out the door.

"Now..." Eowyn murmured, and hurried down the corridors until she reached the Minstrel's room. Tapping softly, "Lihtfota? It's Eowyn! Are you awake?"

Niela must have fallen into sleep from sheer exhaustion for when she next opened her eyes it appeared to be a few hours later.
She lay back for a few moments, questioning her resolve that had seemed so sure only a short time before.
"I must do this."
She rose and ran out of the room to Lothiriel's room. It would be easier just to get this over with.
As soon as she entered, however, she saw that Lothiriel was already dressed in her wedding finery.
"Oh Lothiriel, you look so beautiful!" She managed to say, suddenly aware of her own rumpled gown and tear swollen features. Her announcement would have to wait.

"I have seen the sea but once and it will forever live in my mind. I thought it would help you get over your homesickness but it seems Eomer King has already done that." Ramo gave one last tug on the ties for Lothiriels wedding dress then helped her with her hair. "Yes I will be coming. Namian has asked me to sit with him." A fine blush creeped over her neck and face. "Did Eomer tell you that Namian is courting me?" Niela walked in then and Ramo pulled her emotions under control again. She sent a soft nod and carefully guarded smile in the other girls direction. "If you don't mind M'Lady I will go back to my rooms to get ready."

"Hmm thankyou. Just set the tray over there." Navinai grinned widely and clutched the candlestick behind his back. As soon as the guard was turned he received a swift knock on the head with the weapon. "Pity, breakfast sounded so appealing." He tossed the evidence out of the window and quickly switched clothes with the guard. Not many people knew what he looked like and none of the visiting Nobility would dare stop a Kings Guard. With an air of nonchalance he strode out the door with the empty breakfast tray.

"No, he did not," Lothiriel replied. "That is wonderful!" When Niela walked in, Lothiriel was filled with concern.

"Are you alright, Niela? You seem to have just wakened. I brought one of my dresses that you like, for you to wear in the wedding." Lothiriel went to her closet and took out a silk, sapphire blue gown and handed it to Niela.

"You will look beautiful in it, no doubt. But you must hurry. The wedding will start at any minute."

The Prince Imrahil awoke and rising, he donned his snow white tunic and taller, white boots. He put his princely crown over top of his dark, shoulder length hair and went to check on how things were progressing. At the entrance to the Golden Hall, Aragorn, the First Marshal and Eowyn were awaiting the King Eomer.

"I will get him,"the Prince said smiling. He went to Eomer's room and knocked. When the door opened, he said,

" They are ready for you, my friend. Aragorn and you will walk down first, followed by Eowyn and once you are in front of the thrones, I will walk Lothiriel down. I am going to get her now. This will be a good day." And with that he shook Eomer's hand and went to fetch Lothiriel, accidently bumping into one of the king's guards on the way.

"So sorry," he said and it struck him how familiar the guard looked. Thinking nothing more of it, he knocked on Lothiriel's door. She opened it and he grinned.

"You look beautiful, Lothiriel!" He took her hands and spun her around so he could get a good look at her. "Shall we go? Eomer, I hope, has already gone to the Hall before us." Lothiriel put her arm through his and they made their way to the entrance of the Golden Hall.

Lihtfota had just finished dressing when there was a knock on the door followed by a familiar voice.

“Eowyn!” grinning widely, she flew to the door in a flurry of sky blue lawn and silver sash and almost threw the door open with an informal curtsey to her childhood friend.

“Good morning! I was just about to go looking for you! I haven’t seen you for positively *ages*, though you look well enough… How’s Ithlien? And Faramir?”

She suddenly realised they were standing in the middle of a large collection of instruments, both exotic or otherwise, and various accessories, strewn all over the floor.

“Oh, sorry about that.” The girl hastened to clear a space for herself and Eowyn, looking quite flustered. She had never been the most organised of people to begin with, and what with all the excitement of the past few days…

"Oh, stop that, Lihtfota!" Eowyn laughed and waving away the attempts to clear a space for her to sit, gave her old friend a hug. "Both Ithilien and Faramir couldn't be better!" she answered.

Yet, gazing around the room, "You've got such a collection now!" she went on, and grinned. "Once everything's 'settled down' from the Wedding - promise me you'll tell me about each one of them!" and eyed several of the more 'unusual-looking' instruments.

But, it was the Wedding she was there for, and after Lihtfota made one or two tuning-adjustments, Eowyn very quietly ran through her song several times. "That harp is perfect for it!" she exclaimed, quite pleased that the 'tone' of the instrument matched her voice so well. "And as long as I hold that high note 'long' enough," Eowyn winked, "I'll not get you off-rhythm, and do 'justice' to your playing!"

Since she'd been note-perfect, both women laughed, and with heads bent together, they reminisced the whole way down to the Golden Hall. "See you at the 'front'!" Eowyn then said, and after another hug, Lihtfota headed to her place. Seeing the First Marshall and King Aragorn already waiting, "Is Arwen already seated?" she inquired of the latter. "Faramir escorted her in," the Gondorian Ruler winked. "Ah! I'm jealous!" Eowyn laughed; it seemed that nothing could interfere with the joy of her brother's Wedding-Day, and anxiously, she turned her eyes for the first sight of him striding down the corridor.

*********************************

When the knock sounded at Eomer's door, he was so lost in thought that the King of Rohan jumped. Heart racing, he waved the Under-footman to answer it, and gripped the back of his chair tightly to steady his nerves.
" They are ready for you, my friend. Aragorn and you will walk down first, followed by Eowyn and once you are in front of the thrones, I will walk Lothiriel down. I am going to get her now. This will be a good day." And with that he shook Eomer's hand and went to fetch Lothiriel

Numbly, Eomer nodded... yes, that was what they'd planned. - And, it would be a good day... the Day Lothiriel would become his wife. Queen, yes... but it was the former that meant more to Eomer King than anything else.

With a smile at the Under-footman, Eomer acknowledged the man's murmured contratulations and good wishes, and taking a deep breath, raised his chin and strode out the door. A pause, and a glance at Lothiriel's door only, the Rohanian Ruler kept going... nodding occasionally at the warm greetings from servants or guards who's duties would keep them from attending.

Yet, there was the Golden Hall, and his sister's bright smile was answered with his own. "Good morning, Eowyn!" and he kissed her cheek. "It's your 'good morning', Eomer!" she answered, "Yours and Lothiriel's!" and then stood back so her brother could greet his fellow-king.

Clad in the colors of Gondor, the crest of the White Tree on his tunic and crown proclaiming Aragorn's Kingship, the two Rulers bid their 'good mornings' too. With a nod to the First Marshal, Eomer tried not to 'fidget' until the final signal to begin would be made.

"Nervous?" Aragorn grinned at him. "Who, me?" Eomer half-laughed, and then choked at the added command to, "Breathe!" that his old friend teasingly gave him. "Be quiet!" Eomer growled, but the twinkle in his eyes made both Aragorn and Eowyn laugh.

"Not a word!" Eomer bid the First Marshal, who was himself grinning widely. "Not me, My lord!" he replied, but for Eomer King, the light 'banter' between they four was making the time pass much more 'easily' than he'd thought. Yet, anxious to begin, and for his first sight of Lothiriel, it was also very hard to wait...

(( hope that's ok for Lihtfota/Eowyn, Sirithros, and gives you enough to work with! Heh, had to get Eowyn down to the Golden Hall! ))

The Prince led Lothiriel up to the entrance and then bid her wait. He hurried to where the foursome stood and said,

"She is ready, you can start the procession now." Winking at Eomer he added, " You know it is bad luck to see the bride before she walks down the aisle so I am keeping her hid until you get down to the front." Smiling he turned the corner to where Lothiriel stood.

She took a deep breath. " This is it, Father. No turning back." He patted her hand, " You will make a good wife and queen, my daughter. Of that I am certain." He peered around the corner and saw that Eowyn had begun singing Eomer, Aragorn and the First Marshall in and he wrapped Lothiriel's arm through his as they approached the entrance. Standing there, they waited for Eomer to reach the front and Lothiriel surveyed the people that had gathered. There were so many from Rohan and a few from Dol Amroth. When Eowyn paused in her verses, the Prince whispered,

"That is our cue," and began to solemnly escort Lothiriel down. Lothiriel very stately nodded and smiled to people on both sides of the aisle but when she saw Eomer, her eyes would not stray from that sight. He was dressed in finery Lothiriel had not seen him wear before and he looked almost majestic standing there. She was in awe of her future husband.

Namian reached Meduseld well-before the Ceremony was to begin, and took time to stop in the garden to pluck a modest-sized Gillyflower-blossom. He'd no idea if the small yellow flower would 'clash' with whatever Ramo might be wearing... but the young Rider couldn't bear not giving her something on this Day of Joy for their King.

And, literally 'hovering' at the entrance to the Golden Hall, Namian's eyes searched through the gathering witnesses for the first sight of Ramo coming to join him. - And, when she did, his heart leapt.

Shyly, he handed her the flower, and offered Ramo his arm. "You look beautiful!" he whispered, noticing how the wine-shade of her dress made Ramo's eyes seem all the brighter.

Eomer had not yet arrived at that point, yet the King of Gondor was there in all his Royal Attire. Circumspectly, Namian took himself and Ramo to a seat where her shorter height would still afford his love a good view - and yet far enough back for the two to be 'unobtrusive' in their positions. Sprinkled around them were other Riders, as well as members of the Royal Guard, but such was to be 'expected' at an occasion like this.

They heard the great doors of the Golden Hall open not long after that, and turning, watched Eomer King begin making his way down the aisle that had been formed by the seats...

********************************
"She is ready, you can start the procession now." Winking at Eomer he added, " You know it is bad luck to see the bride before she walks down the aisle so I am keeping her hid until you get down to the front." Smiling he turned the corner to where Lothiriel stood.

Almost, Eomer jumped again at Imrahil's 'sudden' appearance, but bowed slightly in acknowledgement.

With a nod to his Peer, the King of Rohan indicated his readiness, and behind himself and Aragorn, Eowyn his sister was paired with the First Marshal. In his hands, was a pillow of Royal Green silk, and with the Crest of Rohan embroidered into the material with golden thread. - And upon it, rested the Crown that would soon be placed on the Princess of Dol Amroth's brow. It, Eomer's own, as well as Aragorn's threw off 'glints' in the brightness of the dozens of candles and lanterns providing light in the grand hallway.

As soon as the doors opened, Eowyn sought for Lihtfota's eyes, and nodded once. A short 'introduction' was played, and as his sister's voice sang the first note, the King of Rohan took his first step.

Tall, and proud, though his heart was racing madly, Eomer made his way forward, knowing every eye was upon him. Almost as a 'wave' of the long grass of his beloved Riddermark, did the assembled bow; partly to him, and (of course) partly to the King of Gondor walking at his side.

Eowyn's song, her brother thought, was well-sung, and he tried to make a mental note to thank both her, and Lihtfota... 'later'. In the words of their native Rohirric she sang, both words and melody 'timed' so that as Eowyn reached the last 'line', her brother and Aragorn were 'in place'.

As the interlude was played, the First Marshal went to his own, and Eowyn went to stand by Lihtfota, and then repeated her song in the Common Tongue, the 'cue' for Prince Imrahil and his daughter.

"Hear ye now, o Mountains of Mist!
Shout it from the White Horn's heights!
In Eastfold, and in Westfold,
In every home, and in the Wold,
a Tale is told of Love now known!

Two Hearts once lost,
have now been Found!
And on this Day, will now be Bound!
Love's Winter Garment has been Shed,
and in it's Shelter, are new Hearts held!

So Sing ye now in Happiness,
give Joy on cloudless day!
Cry the cry across the Mark,
Where echoes it across the Plain!
Two Hearts are One,
Two Hearts are One,
Two hearts are One today!"
*

As before, Eowyn 'timed' it, so that when the song ended, Lothiriel and her father would be where they would be in their places, too.

With the first sight of Lothiriel, Eomer's breath was stolen away. Clad in flowing white, the silver beading of her dress sparkled in the clear lights of the polished chandeliers, and for him, the King of Rohan knew he'd never beheld anyone as beautiful as she.

With eyes that could not be torn from her figure, Eomer never even noticed his beloved's father walking next to her. Seeming to stand even taller, Eomer King couldn't help but smile with joy as Lothiriel, the love of his heart, came ever nearer...

Ramo hurried into her dress and tied the laces in the front. She half-ran through the now empty halls to where Namian was waiting for her. "You look beautiful." She smiled shyly and accepted the flower. They were soon seated near the front of the Hall and she craned for a glimpse of Eomer. As he strode confidently down the aisle she felt a strange emotion wash over her. It was as if her heart was being broken, but there was something else. She sent a sideways glance at Namian. Perhaps her heart would heal after all.

****************************************************

Navinai stood at a side entrance with a few of the Palace Guard. They paid him no heed and for that he was greatful. It wouldm't be long before he would take his revenge. But it had to be timed perfectly or everything would be ruined.

[OOC: I can’t believe I missed that post. I hate my time zone. Seriously. And Navinai is EVIL. *prepares big club*]

Lihtfota settled herself into a comfortable position in front of a side pillar to provide the accompaniment to Eowyn’s song.

“Perfect, as always.” She whispered with the smallest of grins to Eowyn as the last notes died away. “Nothing beats a song in Rohirric, except perhaps the elves’ singing…”

But then the formalities were to begin. Quieting down, the girl turned away from her harp to watch Eomer and Lothriel say their vows, and her eyes found Ramo, there in the front row, and (her heart gave a little skip of joy) there with Ramo sat Namian. She could see the pain in her friend’s eyes, but now there was the slightest glimmer of hope, and even joy as she looked almost lovingly at Namian. Lihtfota hoped things would work out between them; they were both such nice people, and she desperately wanted to see Ramo back to her old self…

((Great song, Gwendeth))

As Niela watching the wedding she felt a surge of wild happiness for her friend.

Eomer looked so proud and noble that Niela could hardly believe she had ever thought of him as a "barbarian."
While Lothriel seemed to outshine all the candles and lights of the hall with her own beauty that seemed particularly elf like today.

As the last notes of Eowyn and Lihtfota's song faded away, Niela was sure she had never heard anything so beautiful. She could see from the expression on both Eomer's and Lothirel's faces as they looked at one another that two hearts had become one indeed!

This was not the way she had imagined spending the wedding, tainted by her own shame. But for now, Niela could forget her own future and treasure this special moment of the present.

The Prince Imrahil led Lothiriel up to Eomer and said, " I, Imrahil, the Prince of Dol Amroth, bestow my blessing upon the union of my daugher Lothiriel to the rightful King of Rohan, Eomer. May your lives together be long and blessed." That said, he placed Lothiriel's arm in Eomer's, bowed and escorted Eowyn back to her seat. Lothiriel and Eomer both turned to face Aragorn.

Aragorn smiled and began, " Friends and family, we have come together today to witness the union of these two, Lothiriel and Eomer. It is a day of great joy for both Gondor and Rohan. I hope that by this marriage, the ties between Gondor and Rohan shall never be severed and that we can enjoy peace and prosperity together. I also wish the best to the King and Queen and sincerely hope that their days together are filled with laughter, joy and little, if any sadness." He paused and Lothiriel and Eomer turned to face each other, holding each others hands.

(( actually - I'll just 'catch' Namian and Eomer up just a bit! ))

As he watched, and listened, Namian couldn't help but glance down at Ramo by his side. Might - one day - they be before Eomer King in this way? Sincerely, he hoped so, and found himself holding Ramo's hand as Eomer and Lothiriel prepared to take their vows...

**************************

Barely, Eomer heard Imrahil's formal words. All he knew - at that moment - was that Lothiriel was there... and she was on his arm... and in moments, the Pledges that would bind they two as husband and wife - as King and Queen, would be said.

Still smiling, and though it cost him much to tear his eyes from her, they turned to look at the King of Gondor - though he couldn't help but briefly (and invisibly) press his beloved's arm to his side whilst they listened.
" Friends and family, we have come together today to witness the union of these two, Lothiriel and Eomer. It is a day of great joy for both Gondor and Rohan. He paused and Lothiriel and Eomer turned to face each other, holding each others hands.

Taking a deep breath, Eomer King opened his mouth, to speak the first words of his vow...

o O ( Finally the moment we have all been waiting for. Okay well maybe just me )

Navinai stepped forward and raised his hand. "This union cannot lawfully take place!!" He paused and looked around the Hall at the shocked faces. "Our King is not eligible to be wed for he holds a Mistress. No, he flaunts this woman before the whole country!!"

Ramo gasped and tightened her grip on Namian's hand. Not now, not in front of everyone. She turned pleading eyes onto the ex-manservant and he gave her a broad grin.

"And even worse Eomer refuses to admit to this. He would marry the Princess and have this woman also." Someone in the crowd shouted out, "Who?? Who is the wench?!" Navinai swiftly stepped to the front row and taking Ramo's arm pulled her to her feet. "This is the Kings kept woman. She and Eomer have fooled you all."

"He never cared for me like that." Navinai had lit the fire in Ramo's soul. He could hurt her, that she would endure without complaint. But to injure someone she loved was unforgivable. "Eomer is the most honorable man I have ever known and he would never keep a Mistress." She looked at Lothiriel. "Even though I gave him my heart. He never knew."

Lothiriel turned to see Navinai coming down the aisle. After his accusation was complete, she turned to Eomer and then back to Navinai with a scathing glare. But before she could speak, her father stood. He walked to where Navinai stood and grabbed his arm. Imrahil had worked hard to have this marriage come about and he was not going to let it crash down on him because of one man. He would not let Navinai ruin his daugher's happiness.

"In my country," the Prince said, " We call people such as yourself, traitors and schemers." Pulling Navinai close he asked, "Do you know what we do with those kind of people back in Dol Amroth?" Imrahil trailed his finger across his throat. " You are lucky, however. You are in Eomer King's realm and he has authority over you, not I. I will let him deal with you." And with that he thrust him over to Eomer and sat down again. Lothiriel too looked to Eomer, waiting to see what he would do. She knew Navinai was full of lies, she only hoped that eventually the people would realize that also.

Shock, swiftly replaced by fury, gripped Eomer. How had Navinai gotten past his guard? he wondered. He exchanged a glance with his beloved, but then Imrahil spoke. Lothiriel knew Navinai's accusation was a lie - and... whether Imrahil 'believed' it or not, it was clear that Lothiriel's father was not going to allow it to interfere with this Union.

A grim smile touched the King of Rohan's lips... rather suspecting that the Prince of Dol Amroth's response was not what his ex-manservant had desired.

Nor would be his own.

He saw, from the corner of his eye, that the moment Imrahil grabbed Navinai, that Namian - already on his feet the instant Ramo had pulled up - had placed his arm comfortingly around his ex-Handmaiden.

With a jerk of his head, Eomer bid his guards (who'd been hot on the ex-manservant's heels) to come forward, in readiness to take Navinai into custody. Yet... it was the crowd who was waiting for their King to 'answer'.

Tall, his back straight, the King walked a slow circle around the would-be destroyer of much more than the Alliance between Rohan and Gondor. Shaking his head, Eomer spoke to Navinai - but so all could hear.

"Do you really think," he said, "that 'rumor' can overcome honesty? Ramo has been in my service for thirteen years! - Do you truly think a 'relationship' such as you 'suggest' - if it existed - would not be 'known'... and 'whispered' of?" Though truly, what Ramo had said was 'right'. Eomer had not known her true feelings.

"- And, yet..." Eomer continued, "not once has this happened - until you arrived in Meduseld, Navinai! What makes you think that in one day - the day you were hired as my Manservant, you 'instantly' know 'more' about me - and my Handmaiden - than those who we live amongst?"

Shaking his head again, "'Dealing' with you - will come later, Navinai!" Eomer stated, and with a nod to the guards, bid them to hustle Navinai towards one of the side door exits. Not for anything would Eomer King further delay this Ceremony... though he was inwardly quite desirous of finding out the reason for Navinai's actions.

Sweeping the room with a stern gaze, the Rohanian Ruler 'dismissed' Navinai from his thoughts, and turned back to Lothiriel. Hoping his words had been 'enough' to forestall any murmurings among the watchers, Eomer bowed, took his betrothed's hands again, and smiled. "I believe," he said, with all the love in his heart, "We were just about to exchange our vows..."

*****************************

Indeed, Namian had leapt to his feet, and seething with anger on both her - and Eomer's behalfs, quickly had his arm around Ramo - as soon as he could. More than anything, the young Rider wanted to wipe the smirk off Navinai's face... but it was the King who must address this.

Holding her protectively, Namian listened to his Ruler's speech anxiously. 'Honesty', and 'truth' were both something that Eomer King valued highly... and the People of Rohan - and in particular - Edoras, knew it. But, glancing around himself, Namian wondered how many would continue to believe 'otherwise'...

Yet, as they prepared to continue the Ceremony, the young Rider looked down at Ramo, and smiled. 'Rumor' or not - he knew the Truth, and nothing would keep him from loving her with all his heart...

(( Hope this is ok! ))
