Taski stood up as a demon entered the room He did a slight bow and said,"There are two visitors that say they know you."

"What are their names?"

"There is a red head who says his name is Haku Minamono and the other is a girl, Maiko Kuwabara."

"Yes I do know them. Send them to me."

The gaurd nodded with another one of his slight bows and left. A few minutes later Maiko and Haku strode into the room. Taski nodded for the gaurds to leave and they did, returning to their posts. "I didn't expect you two come here. I'm guessing Koenma sent you two."

Eriko and Yusuke aprroached the fortress, very much like Maiko and Haku had, nearing the what seemed to be the way in. Just as they were almost in, they were halted by two swords in front of them. "What business to kids like you have here?"

A cold voice asked, this was the leader who stood just in front of them. Making sure Yanagi's quick words would not lead them into trouble Eriko spoke up,"We've come to see our father Yusuke." The leader looked them up an down, as if trying to compare them to his lord. "There is a resemblance but I still need to make sure." He motioned for one of the gaurds to leave.

It seemed ike forever until the gaurd came back, also with their father. Eriko smiled slightly to see her father and afaught the urge to go and hug him but Yusuke seemed to have the same urge and pushed the swords away, embracing both Yanagi and Eriko.

Then he stood straight looking down at them,"Why are you two here?" "We were sent by Koenma, it's basically another mission,"Yanagi replied. His father nodded and nodded to the gaurds, they returned to their posts as if they had never moved.

"You two must be hungry, come on there must be something for you two to eat around here."

Jeanne blushed slight as Ryounkinshin told Koenma that she was Ryou's mate. She turned and watched the screen and gasped slight as she saw Aljin's face. How could she ever forget that monster.... When she and Ryoukinshin left Ryoukinshin held her hand somewhat tightly and when they were finally in a secluded place, she finally asked, "Ryoukinshin...what's going on? What has this got to do with Aljin?" She never heard her lover speak of his brother before so this was going to be quite interesting to her....

"Yes, he did." Haku answered. The red-head paused, slightly unsure of what to say; it had been a while since he had seen Taski, but somehow, it was difficult to tell her how much he had missed her presence.

A silence had fallen over the group; Haku didn't know what to say and niether of the girls were talkative. Haku walked over to stand near the window Taski had been near by. "I missed you." he said quietly, hoping Maiko wouldn't over-hear.

The three kids had ridden behind the other fighters for nearly two hours now. Chie had nearly fallen asleep and would have fallen off their beast, had not Shura been beside them and grabbed her shoulder, jarring her awake.

She rubbed her eyes with one hand. This strange lethargic feeling that was coming over her felt odd. The girl yawned. Up ahead, her father gave a command in Makain and the group stopped, becoming perfectly still.

It was only then that Chie realized how silent the forest around them was. No animals, no songs of birds, not even the chirping of crickets. She felt Ceaser tense and knew that he was feeling uneasy.

"What do you think is wrong?" she whispered.

"I don't know." Ceaser answered.

"There is a group ahead." Shura said, his long ears twitching slightly. "A large one."

Ryoukinshin let go of Jeanne's hand and stood with his back to her. He sighed and looked at the garden he had led her too. The moon of Reikai was reflected in a near-by pool.

"As a child, my father trained my brother and I to fight well. It was known that we had the potential to achieve the power of Tai; the power of a God. At first, to both of us it was a contest, to see who could attain the title fastes. However, as time went on, we became very different.

'Aljin had always been clever and driven. He was facsinated by the powers granted to a Tai and to the position one could achieve with it. The power to become a uncontested lord of demons." Ryoukinshin paused, with a slightl smile.

//Flashback//

"Think of it!" Aljin's face, usually so impassive was now lit. "Think of what you could do!"

"I have." A younger Ryoukinshin shook his head. "I do not want that much power."

Aljin looked confused. "Why not, brother?"

Ryoukinshin sighed and looked around the plain library he and his borther sat in. "In the old tales, those with great power could become corrupt and cause more harm than good. Who is to say we would be any different? Al-kun, the Tai have not been around for a long time and I think I know why. It's too risky."

Aljin snorted and closed his book impaitently. "So you're just a coward."

"No." Ryouknshin said soflty. "I just don't want the temptation. There is enough of that in this life as it is."

//End flashback//

"After that night, something happened." Ryoukinshin said quietly. "We...we weren't the same. I ended my training, and took up wandering Makai. At times I would see Aljin or hear rumors of him, but I truly never expected...I suppose I underestimated him. He has become a Tai and he has been biding his time. I don't know what he plans to do, but as his brother, I have to do...something..." He turned to her and tried a smile, although it was slightly shaky. "I don't want to kill him; he is my brother after all."

Taski turned her gaze to Haku. Her face remained emotionless though she knew it hadn't been she would be blushing. The red eyed gil realized she had missed Haku as well, there wasn't many people here she could speak with like she did with Haku. She found the corners of her lips curving into a smile but only slightly.

She walked by him to the doorway, brushing past Haku and barely above a whisper in te same way Haku had said,"I missed you, too." As she reached the doorway she said over her shoulder,"I'll be back in a few minutes. I just have to let my father know you arrived."

Maiko nodded in agreement with what Haku had said. She was slightly surprised to hear him say something that she only caught the end of but she put 2 and 2 together and only smiled waiting to see if anything presented itself.

Caesar was also beginning to feel tired after riding so long and felt something was wrong when the woods went quiet all around them. He tensed as he felt a group in their path and wished he could give an answer to his little sister but couldn't come up with anything. Something isn't right about any of this. There's more energy signatures upahead than those that would form a group. I know I've felt some of them before. Let's just see what's going on. He just kept focusing ahead on what those energy signatures were...

Jeanne began to take this in. She really could understand it but she really didn't know why he had to do something about it. She nodded and hugged him saying, "I understand that but what must you do... and can I help?"

"We're here," Hotaru told Kuwabara, who had been thinking and not really paying attention to where he was going. Hotaru turned to Kuwabara and looked at him, and for the first time, she looked a little scared. "Do you know what's going to happen to everybody?"

Taski entered the room her father was in, speaking with a few other demons most likely commanders or captains. Taski cleared her throat so she would be noticed. Heie's head turned and spotted her,"What is it Taski?"

"Haku and Maiko are here. They were sent by Koenma."

"Do you know why?"He asked.

"Why do you think?",came her reply as she prepared to return to her companions. Heie just shook his head though he did know it was about the war. Koenma probably sent them on a mission here to try and help. They would most likely just get in the way but he couldn't just send them back. "Bring them here."

"I will,"she said already walking down the hall. She was back a few moments later,"My dad wants to speak with you two. Follow me."

Yanagi ate gratefully, not missing one crumb while Eriko chewed slow, small bites of her food. Yusuke ate nothing watching his children.

"What exactly are you to supposed to when you are here?"

Yanagi, mouth full of food could not speak so Eriko answered,"To try and help." Her brother nodded to confirm her answer. Their father sighed, he didn't want his children caught up in this mess but he already knew this was going to happen as soon as he let them join the Reikai Tantei.

Maiko nodded and rose to follow Taski, glad to finally find out just how much this war was affecting Mukuro's territory. She followed Taski to where her dad must have been and waited but looked out one of the big windows of the fortress getting a peaceful feeling. She thought she felt two groups near each other but pushed it to the back of her mind, as Heie spoke to her and Haku.

Kuwabara looked up to see Yueske's fortress in front of them, and could tell Eriko and Yanagi had gotten there, meaning Maiko was most likely here in Makai as well. He turned to answer Hotaru's question,

"To tell you the truth Hotaru. I have no clue what's going to happen to everybody. Maiko might be able to tell you with all her preminitions she been having. Maybe they'll only last until this war is over," He added in a softer voice, "I hope they do."

(OOC: Sorry I didn't post sooner! I had a ton of homework and then had to work late yesterday)

Haku smiled slightly to himself as he heard Taski's words before she left. Pushing away from the wall, he came to stand near Maiko. The two Tantei stood silently, observing the room.

Presently, Taski returned, leading them to her Father.

Haku and Maiko respectully bowed their heads and waited for Heie to speak. Before he could, however, the door opened and a guard appeared.

"What is it?" Heie immediately asked, seeing that the guard seemed shaken.

"Sir, a soldier from Lady Mukuro's escort has arrived..." the guard hesitated. Heie's eyes narrowed.

"Well, if he has a message, then send him in with it." the fire demon stated. The guard bowed and hurried from the room.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Maiko murmred to Haku.

Ryoukinshin closed his eyes and hugged Jeanne back, before pulling away. "I don't know how you can help, but having you beside me is help enough now."

Kurama stopped the group and rode to the back. "Ceaser, I want you to take Chie to the back of the group. We may have trouble."

"Can't I help?" Ceaser asked. "Really, Dad, I've been training hard lately."

Kurama sighed and was silent. "I don't want to leave your sister unprotected."

"I can stay with her." Shura offered. The three red-heads looked at the demon boy. Shura shrugged slightly as he addressed Kurama.

"It's natural for him to want to fight beside you; you are his father after all." Shura pointed out. "I'll watch the girl."

Kurama paused, undecided. Then he sighed and nodded. "Very well."

Chie was transferred to the back of Shura's mount.

"You stay out of any fighting, understand?" Kurama said sternly. Chei nodded, suddenly scared. Kurama smiled gently and touched his daughter's cheek.

"Don't worry; it'll be all right." he assured her. The kitsune looked at Shura. He said nothing, but something seemed to pass between them as Shura gave a nod of acknowledgement. Kurama turned his steed and motioned for Ceaser to follow him towards the front.

"Try and stay close to me, understand?" he told his son as they and the others fighting started to trot towards the group that was ahead.

The guard pushed open the doors again and stood out of the way as Kiri, one of Mukuro's generals came in. The masked demon was carrying a burden. Heie suddenly stiffened and Taski's eyes wdiened a little as they realized he was carrying a body wrapped in a blanket.

Kiri knelt before Heie and placed his burden down. "I apologize, Lord Heie." he said quietly. Heie hesitated, then kneeled and slowly drew the blanket away from where the face would be.

Mukuro's face was calm and peaceful, but perfectly white and still. The whole room went quiet; nobody spoke or moved. Heie stood, his face a stoic mask.

"Taski." he said in a controlled voice. "Take your friends to a place where they can rest. The fire demon swallowed hard. "Kiri, you will accompany me and tell how Mukuro-" his voice broke, ever so slightly. "What happened." he finished in a low tone. "The rest of you leave; now."

The other demons began filing out of the room. Kiri remained in his kneeling position, shoulders bent as if he was exhausted. Heie was turned away from the rest of them, towards the wall. The hand that gripped the hilt of his sword was white at the knuckles.

Taski was standing, white-faced, staring at her mother. Haku stepped forward and touched her arm. "Taski?" he whispered. She jerked away, then blinked and seemed to see him.

"This way." she said in a quiet voice. "Follow me."


(OOC: Bleh, that whole scene did not go as well as I hoped. Oh well, Sil you can take if from here...)

((It was just right Jaid, atleast I think so. I hope it's ok if I borrow Haku for this scene))

Taski turned away from her mother's pale, calm face and walked out the room. Her two companions walked behind her, it was silent as the demon girl led Haku and Maiko to their rooms. Soon they turned a few corners and Taski first showed Maiko to her room on the right and then Haku's on the left. Taski pointed down the hall,"If you need anything my room is around the corner on the right, the first door."

As Maiko and Haku entered their rooms Taski proceeded to her room as silently as she had showed them to theirs. She entered her own room shutting the door quietly behind her. The image of her mother's peaceful face passed through her thoughts again. She couldn't believe her mother was dead.

The demon girl suddenly felt to weak to stand, moving to the window she perched herself on the sill staring out, her head leaning on resting on her knee. It had bee nto late, she remembered that dream seemed long ago but it had just come that day. She should have spoken with her father but it would not make a difference now. It was silent as it usually was but now it seemed even deeper as if the whole fortress could sense Murkuro's passing.

A knock sounded at her door. Taski lifed her head startled out of thought, standing up she said,"Come in." Her voice sounded weaker then it usually did. The door opened to reveal the red headed Haku. Seeing who it was she returned to looking out the window. The hanyou closed the door behind him and crossed the room to stand near Taski.

"What is it?"Taski asked though not with the coldness she wanted. "I wanted to see if you were all right."Haku replied with concern in his voice. The red eyed girl glanced at him out of the corner of her eye and then returned to staring out the window.

"I just can't believe she's dead,"her voice was soft and sad, two unusal tones for Taski to have. She felt Haku's hand on her shoulder and surprisingly she didn't try and brush it off or cringe away, she let it stay there. She blinked not wanting to cry. "She was so strong and now..."

She lifted her hand wiping a tear that came unbidden. "Taski you don't have to be afraid to cry...I won't tell anyone." She turned to face Haku, staring at him for a moment and soon found her face buried in his shoulder, tears soaking into his shirt but not once did he complain. His arms encircled her gently, the two stood their silently as Taski cried out all her sorrow.

When the guard had come in, Maiko felt a sudden grip of death coming from the burden and pushed it away from her. After she and her friends left, and she was given a room, to use for the night, but before she went in she whispered to her cousin,

"I'm sorry. I wish I had been able to warn you." She went inside, and went over to the window, looking out over the land that her aunt had worked very hard to protect. She felt the most responisble for not being able to see her aunt's death, and warn the others of her impending doom. Tears came to her eyes, and she let them, wishing she had a chance to really get to know her cousin's mother, for it was obvious that they loved each other under their pacive faces. She went to lay down but didn't fall asleep, for she wasn't going to be able to, for she had a feeling in the pit of her stomach the war was about to truely begin...

A tear slowly trickled down Jeanne's face as she looked back at Ryoukinshin. "Well... whatever we have to do we better do it quick before the others get to have all the fun without us...", she said smiling slightly at him.

(OOC: This will be short, because I just got a last minute free ticket to Trilogy Tuesday. *jumps for joy*)

Ryoukinshin smiled and laughed softly. "Indeed. But it is late. We will prepare for whatever comes tomorrow. But tonight..." He leaned his forehead against hers. "Tonight, I only want to think of you." And he kissed her gently.

Haku held Taski, his face solemn as she cried. A rush of emotions was circling inside him; pain for her loss, sorrow that she had to go through this, anger that someone had done this to her, and a queer helpless feeling that he couldn't do much to help her.

Presently, the sobbing ceased and Taski went limp. She had cried herself to sleep. Haku picked her up; though strong, the demon girl was light; and carried her over to her bed. He laid her down, but didn't feel it was right to leave her. Moving her aside, he sat down, leaning his back against the head board, he gently cradled her, in case she woke up.

(OOC: I'll try and write the battle part for Ceaser and Kurama tomorrow.)

((Cool... I just got back from getting the LAST TWO tickets for the midnight showing for ROTK too... *jumps around with Jaid*))

Jeanne held him close and gently kissed him back... she wanted nothing else but to be with him. They walked back to their rooms, Ryoukinshin escorting Jeanne to her's. Jeanne opened her door and turned around kissing Ryoukinshin again. Before he could leave, Jeanne grabbed him and pulled him into her room... neither one were seen until later the next day... :love:

Heie nodded as the soldier explained what had happened. They had been ambushed and Mukuro had not made it through. (I'm guessing Alisqua killed her or something of the sort) "She was brave m'lord."

"Yes I would have thought so." He had relaxened somewhat though now anger filled him. He went towards her body, gently touching her face and then recovered it with the cloth. He needed to get revenge.

Taski awoke a few hours later to find herself in her bed with Haku cradling her gently. She looked up at him silently startled though of course she didn't show it. She didn't move or begin to yell at him which even surprised herself. Instead she asked,"Why are you still here?"

(OOC: Acutally, Aljin did; he's the only one powerful enough to do so. Alisqua's job was just to keep Mukuro and her men occupied till he showed.

Sorry haven't been on. I got home from Trilogy Tuesday at 2:35 in the morning and couldn't sleep because of severe abdoment pains. I went to the ER at about 5 am and didn't get out of there till 10 am; so I basically slept the rest of the day.)


Haku jumped slightly. He had been half-dozing. Taski stared at him with her red eyes. Haku shifted slightly, letting her go and sitting up straight.

"I just thought that if you woke up during the night...it would help not to be alone." he said quietly.

Kurama's group galloped forward quickly. From the bushes ahead, a strange group of demons appeared, led by a winged demon with clawed hands.

"Attack!" it shouted. Kurama said nothing, only brought out his Rose Whip. Around him, his men prepared to fight.

Some, like Shishiwakamaru, brought out a weapon if they had it. Jin flew above, winds circling him and Touya had dismounted and all ready let loose his Shards of Winter attack.

Maiko had gotten up after having a very real nightmare. It felt like the sword had stabbed her was real. Around her had been several voices screaming at her to get to safety. She was very confused but pushed the dream to the back of her mind and turned to see it had only been a few hours since she'd fallen asleep...

The next day Jeanne and Ryoukinshin got up and began to dress. Jeanne knew that no matter what she had to complete her job... the problem was that as soon as the job was over what would happen to her and Ryoukinshin...

((Just a heads up... I'll be out of town for the next couple of days due to the death of my grandfather and his funeral. I won't be back till Sunday... see ya guys!! And behave!!))

((IT'S STILL NOT FAIR!!!!! Oh well I get to go see it three times in Hawaii!!!!! *laughs at Frodo and Jaid* I get to be in 85 degree weatcher for 2 weeks!!!!!! GO ME!!!! *starts to pack but then remembers she has to type a reply* Ok getting serious. NOT!!!))

Caesar looked up at the varoius demons that had surround them. He took out his raven claw swords and got ready to fight. He took a guess at the amount of attackers their were and waited for them to make the first move...

Jeanne and Ryoukinshin prepared for the leave for Maika not knowing what they would be heading into. Jeanne thoughts dwelled and grew about what would happen to her and Ryoukinshin after this was all over with and she had to go again...

The signal for attack had been given. "Shishi, Suzaki, go left!" Kurama shouted, then turned his head to make sure Ceaser was near.

The other demons rushed forward and Kurama realized with some trepidation that there was more than he had first thought.

At the back of the group, Chie watched from the saftey of Shura's mount. The demon boy's arms were around her, holding on to the riens as the demon horse beneath snorted and pawed the ground.

"He wants to be in the action." Shura said softly. "He is a war mount; not used to watching."

Chie smiled unsurely, then gasped as she saw the demon who appeared at the front of the other army.

"What?" Shura asked.

"It's her!" Chie cried. "That ice demon; she tried to kill me before..."

Ryoukinshin followed Ayame silently, Jeanne beside him. Botan followed slowly, head bowed a little.

Ayame stopped and turned. "This portal will take you to Enki's small territory. I would advise you to remain with him for a time; as king of Makai, he will have the hardest job if war breaks out between the other lords."

"Also," the ferrygirl continued. "We have heard some very grave news. Mukuro, one of the territory leaders, has been killed. Confusion will spread in that realm; Haku and Maiko may need help."

"I'm going there." Botan said quietly, but firmly. Ayame looked at her in slight surprise. Botan smiled tiredly. "Taski and Heie will need someone at least, who knows how to run a household. I can't imagine the pain both of them are feeling right now."

Ayame nodded. "A speedy and safe journey," she said. "To all of you."

Ryoukinshin bowed. "Thank you." Taking Jeanne's hand, he stepped into the portal.

((I still hate you. Oh well, I used to live in Texas had mild winters down there. It only snowed once in 6 years that I lived there.))

Maiko felt another vision coming on and stood away from the window incase she fell out. She bit her lip to keep from screaming but what she saw wasn't very pretty. She saw a continuation of that dream she had and realized she was watching throught Muruko's eyes. Once the vision was over she lay on the floor for a few seconds then stood up and went through her pockets to find the two drawings she'd drawn earlier this week. One of of the Ice demon woman and the second was of the one who'd been saying that everything was going according to plan just before her last vision was done. She stood and left her room but once she was out the door she nearly collapsed from what she was feeling coming from all the people here. Okay this isn't good. Something bads going to happen and if I can't handle one vision that was given me not of my own will then I'm pretty much useless. she did her best to reach the room where she could sense Heie was at. She was stopped and asked where she was going by one of the guards,
"Tell Lord Heie I might be able to find something out about what happened to Lady Muruko. Please." The guard looked puzzled but complied with her wishes..

Caesar also saw the ice woman who Maiko had drawn and who he had caught a glimpse of on their first misson. He sliced up one of the demons that came near him and turned to see his dad fighting off several demons. Well it's worth a try. He steadied his mount at the back of the group and concetrated hard and sure enough above his head a black spirit eagle appeared and swooped down picking up as many demons as it could before it shocked them with black lighting then sent out black lighting to hit all the demons that caesar wanted Rena to. He with called the bird and when he opened his eyes there bodies littered everywhere but mostly of the opposing armies. Caesar was surprised he had only meant to distract them so the others could kill them all. The ice woman was looming over the dead bodies.
"Dad behind you!!!" He pointed at her and saw a look he had gotten a few times when he was younger. something told him his dad wasn't going to let the Ice woman get away....

Taski swung her feet over the edge of the bed. "I'll be all right now. You can return your room." Haku stood up from her bed. She watched as he opened the door and just as he was about to close it she said softly,"Thank you." Then it closed behind him and she could hear his light footseps retreating down the hall.

The gaurd entered the room and bowed to Heie,"M'lord one of the visitors say they may be able find out something about Lady Mukuro's death."

"Send them in."

The gaurd bowed again and turned leaving through the door. A few moments later Maiko walked in.

"Dad, behind you!"

Kurama whirled at Ceaser's yell and saw the ice demon...the same one that had nearly killed Haku and Chie before. Kurama's normally calm expression darkened and his eyes took on a hint of gold; a sign that he was very angry. Whip in hand, he flew towards the ice demon.

The woman saw him coming and put up her hands, shooting out spikes of ice; similiar to Touya's Shards of Winter attack. Kurama dodged gracefully, his whip lashing out to grab her arm and pull her forward.

The ice demon snapped her arm back, tearing the sleeve of her garment and the flesh beneath. She held up the ruined limb, a slight look of victory in her eyes. From behind her back, her other hand came up, revealing a crackling white-blue ball of energy in it. Kurama tensed, preparing to jump out of the way, but the ice demon did not throw it at him, but rather at his son.

"Ceaser!" Kurama shouted. But the boy had all ready moved, a crater where he and his mount had been standing.

Another ball of energy shot past, towards Shura and Chie. The demon boy stared at it calmly, then brought up a hand and formed a shield. The ice demon snarled in dissapointment, but it was the last thing she did before Kurama's whip tore through her midsection.

Ryoukinshin and Jeanne found themselves in a territory that was the center of Makai. Before them, a demon fortress loomed.

Guards patroled the walls and to their surprise, a blonde demon woman was standing outstide the gate, calmly smoking. The two approached her.

"Lady Koko." Ryoukinshin said respectfully as he and Jeanne bowed.

"So you're the ones that Reikai brat sent, huh?" Koko asked, pushing away from the wall. "Good. My husband is getting pretty worried. Come on."

Botan flew on her oar swiftly over the terrain. Flying in Makai had always made her nervous; there were too many things to attack one.

Seeing Mukuro's fortress ahead, she breathed a silent prayer and hoped that they would let her in without any trouble.

Jeanne was slightly alarmed by this woman's attitude and behavior towards them but what should she expected from a demon. She followed behind Ryoukinshin as Lady Koko lead them to her husband...

Maiko looked up as the guard came back through the door and gave her a curt nod which she knew meant Heie was there and willing to listen to her and what she was going to say. She gripped the drawing tightly and entered the room but nearly fell over from the amount of death she could feel in the room. She kept her eyes on Heie, and didn't take them off of him. She bowed to him then waited as she gripped the picture of a demon who she'd seen dicussing someting with a darkly hooded figure yesterday after noon..
((Sillende you can choose the Heie's opening statment I really don't care.))

Caesar watched as his dad took on the ice woman that he had not only seen Maiko draw but also had tried to kill his siblings. He saw the energy ball flying towards him, he turned his mount and sped so he was near the back with Shura and his sister. Then it was just his luck another energy ball came at them again but Shura blocked it easily with an energy shield. What happened next he was glad about he saw his dad's rose whip tear through the Ice woman's torso, killing her. He smiled and turned to his sister who had a slightly shaken look on her face. He pushed his mount closer and held out his hand,

"Come on Chei. I have a feeling nothing could bring her back even if it were possible." he smiled and pulled his sister back onto his mount and placed her infront of him since she was shorter...

The sentry led HOtaru and Kuwabara into the fortress, inot a large room occupied by a desk, a bookshelf, and a very weary looking Yusuke.
"That's your cue," Hotaru said to Mr. Kuwabara, she had no idea what to say to a demon lord...

Kuwabara smiled and whispered,

"Yeah thanks." He had a feeling even though Yueske didn't turn and look at him, he knew that Kuwabara was there.

"What do you want Kuwabara?"

"Just thought you should know that I recieved a telepathic message from my daughter."

"What did she say?"

"She's in Muruko's territory and that Lady Muruko is dead. she was ambushed, but not by Yomi. Maiko seems to think that it was an outside party that wants all of you to go to war. She also told me that she thinks the demons who attacked and killed Muruko were the one's she and the other Tantei had faced on their first misson." He let everything sink in and had a feeling that Yueske was slightly surprised but not much for he must've received word of it by now.

Caesar just stayed next to Shura at the back of the group and looked up to see his dad coming towards him...

Taski sat with her eyes closed, relaxed when she felt a familiar presence coming nearer to the fortress. "Botan,"her eyes opened suddenly and she went quickly to the front gates. The gaurds had taken notice of Botan flying nearer and were standing ready to fight if needed.

"I know the one coming closer, she means no harm."Taski said to the captain in charge. He looked down at her then motioned with his hand to lower their weapons.

Heie stared at Maiko silently as she stood completely still in front of him. "Are you going to stand there for the rest of the day or tell me what you came here to say unless you mean to show me."

"So it was true,"Yusuke said almost to himself,"I couldn't believe it when I first heard it."

"Another group involved in the fighting? Strange...very strange." He said. He raised his head wearily to look at Kuwabara and Hotaru. "There is more behind this war and with this new group...,"he left off as if to tired to continue or not even really knowing what he thought. He sat in his chair, heavily.

He looked to the door suddenly,"Yanagi, Eriko no need to eavesdrop." The siblings came into the room acting as if they hadn't done anything and had been jsut walking by. "Take Hotaru to a spare bedroom."

He turned back to Kuwabara,"Is there anythign else you know?"

Kurama let out a breath then turned to his men. "Find the wounded and get them on mounts. We'll try and make it a ways before we stop for the night." Remounting on his demon horse, he rode towards the back where Shura, Chie and Ceaser where. A smile came over the kitsune's face.

"You did well, Ceaser." he said in a quiet, proud voice, then looked at Shura. "Thank you."

Shura nodded back and then withdrew, riding off towards where Suzaki was helping organize the men. Kurama looked at Chie. "No need to look so frightened." he chided gently. Chie blinked, then blushed and lowered her gaze.

"Ceaser, ride near the back for the rest of the journey, all right?" Kurama said.

"Yes, father." the boy answered.

"We'll be near the border soon; perhaps tomorrow if we can push it." Kurama stated. "It won't be much longer now."

The children nodded as their father turned and rode back to the front. Chie sighed and closed her eyes. "I miss mother."

Botan dismounted her oar and stood a little unsurely in front of the guards. To her surprise, they stood aside, granting her acess to the entrance. Botan immediately walked forward, into the fortress, still nervous. She had never been here without her husband before...

"Taski?" the blue-haired woman paused.

"Welcome." Taski answered, her voice and face carefully blank. "I saw you flying in and came to meet you; the guards are rather suspicious after what happened."

"I see, thank you." Botan said. "Is your father here? May I speak to him?"

Lady Koko led Ryoukinshin and Jeanne to a large stone room that had a long, heavy wooden table and a warm fire. Standing at the table was a tall demon with pinkish-red skin and a tendancy to a round middle. His black eyes were placed inside a surprisingly good-natured and kindly face that had a short yellowish-green beard that matched the hair on the demon's head. Two small horns also protruded from his skull.

"Enki, these are the ones that Koenma sent." Koko stated, going to her husband. Koko, in appearence, was much like a blonde, human woman and her size was dwarfed by her husband's mass.

"I see." Enki straightened. "Welcome then. But you are no Reikains?"

"I am the wolf youkai Ryoukinshin. This is my mate, Jeanne. She too has youkai blood." The demon said with a bow. He stood. "Lord Koenma advised us to come as the death of Lady Mukuro would most likely bring more war."

Enki's face darkened. "Yes." he admitted. "I fear there may be confusion in her realm. But what worries me is how such a strong warrior was beaten. My wife believes that there must have been a traitor that Lady Mukuro was unaware of, but with the precautions of her and her husband, I find that unlikely."

"Anything's possible." Koko said softly. "And if there was a traitor, then the situation there will probably become even more unstable."

"And the fighting between Yomi and Yusuke has worried me greatly." Enki added. "It seems so unlike either of them; especially Yusuke."

"What would you have us do, my lord?" Ryoukinshin asked. Enki sighed.

"I don't know. Koenma told me that he has sent members of his Reikai Tantei to Mukuro's territories. I hope that they will be able to stave off any immediate threat. I would very much like to call a council of the demon lords; those with territories and those that serve under them. If you would agree to help me with this, I would be most grateful."

"We will do what we can." Ryoukinshin answered. Enki nodded.

"Thank you. But I fear I am being a poor host. You will have something to eat and be shown a room. By tomorrow, I will have messages being sent out into Makai. With any luck, a council will take place in a few days."

Haku was asleep when something pricked at the edge of his mind. Blue-green eyes blinked open and he slowly sat up and yawned. What could be wrong?

Haku went to the door and poked his head out. Two demons near the end of the hallway looked as if they were argueing fiercly. Haku backed into his room. Their flaring auras was most likely what had awakened him. Laying back down on the bed, he tried to go back to sleep, since he felt very tired, but it wouldn't come. After some tossing and turning, Haku swore under his breath and got up, deciding to see what Maiko and Taski were up too and if there was anything he could be doing.

Maiko just smiled and held out the picture she was holding.

"I don't know how but I was given this image along with many others, and could only guess that this was who either killed her or was responsible for the ambush. It was hard to tell but it most definatly Lady Muruko I saw, something tells me that the ambushers where hoping you'd get angry than also be pulled into this war. There's areason behind this war and I don't think either of the other lords had anything to do with it." She let him look at the drawing and had a strange feeling he had a suspision about this as well. She turned around and kept getting a feeling something was wrong but pushed it out of her mind. Heie's voice brought her back to reality,
"Your positive about this?"
"Yes. I don't really need another vision because i get enough of those. Seems you've got some company." she bowed her head and left him to his thoughts. As she left she saw Boton coming towards her with Taski. She smiled and also saw Haku coming in her direction. She stopped when she saw just how ragged Boton's face was. Koenma must be pushing her really hard ever since this thing started.

Kazuma looked at Yueske and shook his head,
"No but I might be able to contact her later and find out if she can tell me anything else. when she last contacted me she sounded very tired and worn out. Her powers are growing and she's been getting preminitions, which aren't helping her any. I'll get a hold of her tommorow. It'll give her a chance to rest. You look like you could use some help. Do you want any?" He knew that this war was going to take a while and had a feeling both Yomi and Yueske would be tired after this...
