Alisqua mentally slapped her head. She hadn't meant to sound so challenging. She could just hear Aljin scolding her for her lack of tact, then mentally told the voice to "get lost." Addressing herself once again to Amaranta, she spoke.

"I'm Alisqua. I beleive my boss, Lord Aljin, contacted you several days ago about...a certain partnership. I'm here for your answer." Alisqua gritted her teeth, then bowed. "I apologzie for my earlier rudeness." she said in a forced tone, then striaghtened.

(OOC: Okay, after LotM gives her answer to Alisqua and we clear up this thing with Jeanne, I'm going to jump ahead about two months; the kids will just be starting out on using their special powers/attacks, k?)

Jeanne glanced at the little fairy and then bowed her slightly as she replied, "Yes and I'm here to prevent it as well." She looked at Koenma and then at Botan. Botan didn't seem to know what to do and looked at Koenma again. Finally the girl spoke with true sincerety as she leaned forward her arms resting on her knees, "Look... the future is horrible there. When it comes to my Yuske and the others... well... there dead. My father died trying to help fight against the evil and my mother was the only person that was still alive when I left. I don't if that has changed as of yet..." She looked down and then back to Botan, "Please... let me go and help my grand father and the others prepare for this battle. Its the one that will determine it all."
She looked hopefully and urgently into Botan's eyes as the woman sighed and looked once again to Koenma for some answer or another...

Amaranta smirked and thought back to when Aljin had come to her about the partnership. At first she had been baffled about why he would want her to join with him but she hadn't questioned him about that. After all, she didn't want him to take the offer back. She was given a couple days to think about it, but she already knew what her answer would be. She had just needed this time to up her powers, make a good impretion if he asked for a demonstration.
Amaranta fidgeted with the end of one of the several small braids in her hair.
"Yes, I remember talking with your boss," she said, as if it had been just another meeting to her.
She released the small braid and looked down at her long fingernails. She sighed.
"You can tell your boss that I accept, I guess," she said, as if it meant nothing to her.
Amaranta crossed her arms over her chest again and looked at the demon, smirking.
"And you are forgiven. Just make sure it doesn't happen again."
Amaranta laughed silently to herself and cocked her head to one side.
"Anything else?"

Alisqua teeth were clenched, but she forced a smile. "Would you mind comeing with me, so that I may escort you to him?" she asked. "After all, our presences in Ningenkai will be noticed if we stay too long."

Koenma sighed and rested his forehead in his hands. Ayame had gotten up and come to stand next to his chair, her hand on his shoulder.

The prince looked up, then stood. "Take her." he stated. "Tell Yusuke what's going on...and Botan?"

"Yes?"

Koenma hesitated. "Would you consider taking your powers back?"

Botan paused. She had gotten used to be a human, but Koenma was probably right. As a mortal, she didn't have the healing or flying abilities she did as a spirit.

"I will."

Koenma seemed to relax. "Then that will be done."

Botan smiled at him encouragingly, then placed a hand on Jeanne's shoulder. "Come with me."

Jeanne rose and then turned and bowed to Koenma. "Sorry for the mess and disturbing you. Goodbye...", she said and turned around and saw Botan have an oar next to her. "Well.. come on..", she said to Jeanne as Jeanne walked up and straddled the oar behind Botan. "Hang on!", she said and zoomed down the hallway, out of the palace and down through the clouds towards a building in the distance where Jeanne could sense some major people there...

Taski who had been performing the katas with control and much concentration stopped. She looked around at the others and Ryoukinshin who was watching some of the others silently. She turned her red eyes to the sky, and saw a speck that grew steadily larger.

It was probably Botan but there seemed to be another on the oar that she rode. Taski ignored it for now, if indeed they were coming here she would find out soon enough.

Yanagi had not stopped though, but he did glance over curiously but after looking at the one who would be teaching thought it might be better to just not say anything for once. He had though been hit by Eriko on "accident' a few times though and she had made up the excuse of being to close. He had had the impulse on hitting back but he actually took time to think of the consequences and after looking yet again at Ryoukinshin decided not to.

Maiko turned her eyes up for she was watching Caesar try and stand on one finger while concetrating. She saw the speck of Boton on her oar. She shrugged it off and returned to working with her double-edged sword (I like those their cool). Caesar came over to her after having been watched by Ryoukinshin.
"What's the matter with you? I've never seen this much concentration from you before." Maiko answered him in the best way she could
"I feel like this si something just have to do, and will do my best. My parents kept saying that the reason I've got such determination, is because I'm 'being called home' as they say." Caesar had never seen this side of her before, he knew she was half demon, but didn't think it was so strong in her.

The demon girl stood up and picked her cloak up off the rock. She sighed and looked over at Alisqua. Amaranta knew that this girl hadn't liked what she had said, but she didn't care. In fact, she had found enjoyment out of watching the struggle to hold back what she knew Alisqua really wanted to say or do.
"Alright, I'll come with you."
Amaranta walked slowly over to Alisqua, soaking up the last warmth she would be able to get from the sun. She knew it would be a while before she would be here again, and next time the circumstances might not allow her to take some time to enjoy things.

Jeanne looked down and saw the trees zoom by below. Suddenly she saw two beings near a stream. She shrugged as Botan and her came to the old temple. Jeanne jumped off as where came near and glided down to it. She landed and was soon followed by Botan as she opened the doors.
Jeanne stepped in after Botan and looked around. "So many memories of this place...", she said to herself as she took a deep breath and lightly touched a beam. 'I remember my first time here...', she thought and began to recall memories from a happier time in her dimension when her father began to teach her the art of fighting. She walked around quietly and quickly as Botan suddenly woke her from her memories, "Hey... out here..." She walked out side and with a deep breathe and no idea how this would turn out Jeanne too walked outside to meet people she hadn't seen since their funerals...

Botan got off and looked over to Jeanne, just to see if the girl was all right; Kuwabara and Yusuke had told her more than once about her wild rides. But the girl seemed fine.

"This way." Botan said as they walked into the main courtyard.

Ryoukinshin watched the kids noting thier different leves. Hotaru and Taski were well trained; they would probably become more like assistants than students. Maiko, Haku, Yanagi and Eriko were also pretty good, but would need more help in reference to their actual powers.

Ceaser showed promise, but Chie...Ryoukinshin watched the young girl struggle through for a while. She was determined, but he didn't think she would make a fighter.

The wolf demon looked up as two people entered. One was a blue-haired woman; her resemblence to Ceaser and Chie made him guess that this was their mother. The other was a red-headed girl. He walked forward.

"Can I help you?" he asked, more out of politeness than anything.

Alisqua nodded. "This way."

A little ways away, a portal opened. "Follow me." the wind demon said.

Kurama paused as a portal to Reikai opened, he turned back to Jin and Touya.

"You both stay out of trouble, all right?" he said, only half joking. Touya snorted.

"Stay out of troulbe with him around?" he jerked his thumb towards Jin. The wind demon only grinned and winked. Kurama laughed, then said good bye and stepped through the portal.

(OOC: Okay, my internet time is probably going to be cut down a little from now on; I just wanted you guys to be aware.)

Jeanne walked out and looked about at the people there. Suddenly a demon approached her and spoke to quite friendly-like, "Can I help you?" She smiled and looked around and nodded slightly, "Yes... I heard that there was a tournment coming up and I'd like to join if you don't mind..." Her eyes sparkled and flashed as she looked around as the students were practicing but when they saw she was there they stopped and walked forward to meet her. She smiled and loosened the strap that held her sword to her back slightly... it seemed it be the only comfort she was going get for a little while...

Amaranta followed the woman. She looked at the portal without any expression on her face and sighed.
"Alright."
Amaranta stepped into the portal after Alisqua. She thought to the demons that would be waiting her return and shuddered. Apparantly it wouldn't be a good reunion. But then again, maybe she could just avoid them altogether. Amaranta sighed again and awaited their arrival.

As the girl entered Taski made no move to greet her but just stood still observing the girl silently as the others got distracted and went to greet the girl. The red eyed girl just wasn't the one for greeting others, the loner as usual. Taski went back to concentrate on what she was doing.

Yanagi though went closer to see the girl clearer though still trying to concentrate at the same time listen in. It was kind of tougher for him than it was for Eriko who went through her movements pretty well. A few moments later though they were greeting the girl.

Maiko went to greet the girl, but stopped and turned to look at Taski, She's got to be a loner. Dad said that Heie acted the same way. I wonder why Daddy hates Heie so much. She turned and said hello to the new girl, then stepped back letting the others say hello. (((Quick thing could Maiko's b-day be during the tournament, or training and boton brings her a gift from her parents? I think it'd be wierd.))) Maiko turned back to praciticing before she became too distracted. (Maiko has a serious side to her that she most likly inherited from her grandma, or her father, even though Kuzuma didn't really concetrate. Maiko's going to be the sorta 'healer' for the group. If that's okay) She kept praticing until Caesar came up to her.

Caesar saw the new girl and went to greet her, then went over to Maiko to see her still practing
"Did you even go up to the new girl and say hello?" Maiko didn't take her eyes off her sword. She answered Caesar's question
"Yes and now I'm practicing. Please leave me alone." Caesar left maiko to her sword, Maiko's never acted like this before

Hotaru hung back ,and watched the others greet the new girl. New people made her nervous, people in general made her nervous. She went back to swinging her glaive in her usual fighting pattern, when she noticed someone behind her, she turned to see Boton. "Aren't you going to greet Jeanne?" she said perkily. Hotaru shrugged her shoulders. "I don't have good people skills," she told Boton. "Well it was good to see you again!" Boton smiled, and turned to go, but Hotaru grabbed her shoulder. "When is Kurama coming back?" she asked, Boton shrugged. "I don't know." Hotaru sighed, she would just have to stay here a little longer.

Hiei took that oppertunity to walk away unnoticed. He hated meeting new people and was forced to do it on a reguler basis. He couldn't shake the feeling of danger and someone watching him. He looked around, but saw nothing. He shrugged and walked on. He stopped by a lake and looked at the water. He glanced ack at the group of people, but they hadn't noticed anything. "Good," he muttered and continued his walk.

Ryoukinshin raised an eyebrow. "I know of no tournament." he said seriously. "But if you are supposed to be here, then go with the others and start a kata."

Botan bit the inside of her cheek at Horatu's question. She instictively wanted to reach out to this girl and sometimes wondered privately if Kurama knew that Kurone had had a daugther. Sighing, the blue haired woman left the building and walked out.

*Two Months Later*

"YAH!" Eriko let out a battle cry as she and Haku fought. The red-head grinned as he dodged her blow, her fist glowing with spirit energy.

"Why don't you ever hold still?" Eriko asked half jokingly.

"No fun in that." Haku answered in the same tone.

Ryoukinshin was watching them with satisfaction. Of the two, Eriko had proved quicker than her brother, though Yanagi had talent. He was sparring with Ceaser now, while Hotaru and Taski went at it. Jeanne sat, watching all the others.

Two month had sped along quicker than Chie could have imagined. She and Maiko were inside the dojo; they had just been practicing some of the self defense techniques Chie had learned.

The small red-headed girl brushed some hair behind her ear and looked up at the taller girl. "It's almost your birthday, isn't it, Maiko?" she asked, her violet eyes alight with enthusiasm.

(OOC: Now all the kids have some control over their powers. I'm thinking they'll go on their "first case". If anyone wants to volunteer villians and/or idea for it, then go ahead. I don't want them to face Aljin and co. till they are stronger.)

Unlike most of the others, Hotaru and Taski fought silently and with out comments. The red eyed girl stepped aside as Hotaru through a punch to her head and then grabbed her wrist, for it had ben pulled back slowly and easy to hold.

Before Hotaru could make a move to get free from her grip, Taski spun inward and elbowed her in the ribs, not to hard as to crack any. Hotaru took a step backward. There was a slight pause then the two went at it again, moving very wuickly and with the practice of having done this many times before.Taski was rather enjoying fighting someone worth whil and she had gained a silent respect for Hotaru though she had for some of the others too.

Taski came down hard with an axe kick but Hotaru dodged it before and the red eyed girl's foot hit the ground hard, making an impressing in the ground. Hotaru was lucky she had dodged it, Taski had used a little to much force in that attack. The two charged each other and stopped in the middle beginning to rain punhes down upon each other moving every now and then to dodge the other's attack, they seemed to hit each every now and then since they were fighting closer rather than trying to hit each other from far away.

Hotaru just then delt a side kick, Taski saw it coming and jumped away, lessening the force of the attack as she went backwards. She had seen the spirit enery on that attack had been more than usual. She would have to watch for that. Taski stood still for a moment and then suddenly moved faked going right then went left and appeared before Hotaru with a strong front kick and just as she did this Hotaru threw a punch to the stomach. The force of their attacks sent them to the ground.

Taski lay on her back for few moments before laughing slightly which was odd to hear from the silent girl. She got up and went over to Hotaru and helped her up so they could continue. Taski gave a small smile to Hotaru before theey began. She was indeed enjoying this practice.

Yanagi fought with Ceasar, the two seemed to be matched though Yanagi was a little jealous that his sister had caught on more quick than he had but she still had some control over his powers. At that moment when he was lost in his thoughts Ceasar through a punch and hit Yanagi in the face.

The dark haired boy stumbled back rubbing his cheek,"Do you really have to hit that hard?" Ceasar only smirked in return as they continued to spar.

Eriko said as she threw a kick and was in dismay when Haku again dodged but he had not made a hit against he so far."C'mo Haku. Are really that afraid of a girl not to fight back?" She said in a teasing tone, turning to a spinning back kick immediately to a side and then throwing yet another punch.

(((Thank you!!!!!! That's okay, I was just wandering snce Yukina's a healer, I thought it might be good to have a healer for this group.))) Maiko looked at Chei alittle shocked by the question,
"Yeah it is. I don't think Ryoukinshin will give me the day off. My mom usually did something with me since my dad was at work most of the day. He'd come home and just sink down on the couch, forgetting he'd promised to take me some place. I'd usually just ignore my birthday and figured that there'd be no reason to celebrate." Maiko shrugged her shoulders and returned to the middle of the room to finish the techinques. No reason to get all exciteted that dad may just remeber my birthday's coming up. It just another a day. Maiko decided to try out her attack that she'd been working on. She and Chei went back to sparring and Maiko used the power she'd first learned,
"Ice Darts." She threw them at Chei and they hit her in the arms and legs. Chei was frozen to the spot
"Let me go!!"
"Okay, okay. Don't have a hernia on me." Maiko removed the ice and chei fell down for she'd been in the middle of kicking Maiko.

Caesar was sparring with Yanagi and he was having quite a bit of trouble being that Caesar hadn't really found his spirit energy like everyone else. He could form a hand of raven claws but they didn't last very long, so he just resorted to martial arts.

Yukina was in her kitchen, and looked at the calendar. The day was (I'm just ganna say its in late summer early spring) August 30. Maiko's birthday was five days away. I'll have to get her something special. It is her 16th birthday after all. I just hope Kuzuma remebers. At that moment Kuzuma walked into the kicthen, kissed his wife and just held her,
"I don't like the fact that Maiko's doing this." yukina knew that he'd been having nightmares about his adventures for months after the Dark Tournement.
"She'll be fine. By the way it's Maiko's birthday in five days, are you going to ignore this one as well as the last six?" Yukina turned to face her husband. Kuzuma had a surprised look on his face but he knew that he wasn't going to get out this one.
"You know I had no way of getting here for her birthday these last six years. Yes, I'll get her something from the both of us, and maybe Boton will go deliver it to her." They turned and left for the mall to go buy Maiko something for her birthday. They'd spent about two hours looking when Yukina saw the thing she knew Maiko'd want. It was a necklace that was a blue color and had a teardrop diamond, that was blue sapphire on the bottom. The necklace was very short and would most likely come to Maiko's collar bone. yukina pointed it out to her husband and they bought it with a couple other things for Maiko's birthday. They went home to wrap them and send to Maiko at the temple.

Jeanne greeted everyone and when Ryoukinshin asked her to go work on the kata she went over there and began to do the same average strength and skills as they kids were doing. She didn't want them to know she was superior to them and she definately didn't want them to know that she was Yuske's grand daughter.

Two months later....

As Ryoukinshin and Jeanne watch the others practice, some of the kids were getting tired. Ryoukinshin told them to take a break and so the kids headed outside for a while. Jeanne smiled and bowed at the teacher, "You truely are everything that I heard you were like." She suddenly realized that she wasn't suppose to know him. He looked over at her as she got up and looked around but was stopped short by Ryoukinshin as he placed a hand on her shoulder and turned around, "You know I have a funny feeling about you ever since you got here. Now you haven't said much about yourself and why you're here. Please tell me..." She shook her head no and stepped back from him, "I'm sorry. I can't tell you... not yet."
Ryoukinshin nodded and began to turn away as well as Jeanne when suddenly she sensed something and pulled out her sword and swung back around causing it to meet with Ryoukinshin's sword....

Maiko and the others had all gone outside for awhile. Maiko went off to find a tree to sit in and think. (((OOC: I'm going to make Boton arrive with her presents,ok?)) Boton had just stopped by Yukina's house house and had been asked to deliver presents to Maiko for today was her birthday. She'd agreed and taken off to the temple and saw most of the kids outside. She approched her oldest son,
"Where's Maiko?" She asked Haku.
"I saw her last up in the tree over there." He pointed to the tree were she was
"Why mom?"
"Oh..no reason. Keep up the good work kids." She made her way over to the tree and called up to Maiko
"Maiko. Come down here I've got something for you from your parents." Maiko looked down at Boton and jumped down landing in front of her,
"Hey Boton. so what did you say you have for me?"
"Well your parents asked me to deliver these to you seeing as how its your birthday and all." Maiko's face lit up but asked
"Did my father get me anything?"
"Oh yes there all but one from him." Maiko looked very surprised
"Ok. Thanks." Boton handed over the gifts to Maiko, and turned to leave the blue haired girl standing there as if she had just been struck down by her dad's spirit sword. Maiko carried the three presents into her room and passed Jeanne and Ryoukinshin sparring. They looked at her and at the presents in her hands
"Sorry Boton just delivered these to me I'm just going to put them in my room." Maiko left the two of them and went into her room, sat on her bed and opened them. One of them was the necklace she'd been asking her mother for for years. She put it on and moved to the two from her father. One was an ice blue martail artist outfit with matching black shoes, the other one was a blueish-black out fit with a matching cloak. She sat there and looked at her presents, she just wished they'd given them to her in person, instead of having Boton deliver them to her. Oh well at least daddy remembered it was my birthday today. She was glad her parents had done this she felt alot better than she had in days...

Taski sat on a rock, watching the other kids laughing and talking. Suddenly, Hotaru was sitting beside her, staring at her. "Are we friends?" Hotaru asked her. It wasn't like a innocent little girl question, more like a question of battle tactics. Taski thought carefully for a second, then said. "We have many things in common, and are compatable, so I guess we are." Hotaru nodded, then blushed, as if something imbarrased her. "You have a family, don't you?" Taski raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "I have a mother and a father, why?" Hotaru blushed an even deeper shade of pink. "What's it like?" Taski was confused, something she wasn't often. "Ummm...." Hotaru stood suddenly, looking like she had done something completely and totally idiotic. "Forget I even said anything. It was stupid."she said, and was gone. "What was that all about?" muttered Taski.

Taski watched after Hotaru, she would speak with her later. She now had a better idea of what the girl had meant. The red eyed girl looked around at the others, laughing and talking. She sighed slightly, even if her and Hotaru were basiclly friends it may take her long to really know what a friend is like.

She pulled out the gem her father had given her and glanced around to see if the others were waching before taking it out completely. Taski smiled sadly, looking at it and then tucked it away again. She looked up to see Eriko chasing Yanagi instead of Haku for once. Taski raised an eyebrow though the two were siblings so it wasn't that surprising. She shook her head slightly and hopped off the rock, observing the other silently almost chuckling when Eriko began to beat Yanagi over the head as he ran. It seemed that their break was for nothing.

(OOC: Whew! Sorry guys; I couldn't get to the comp for a while. *grin* I'm 18 on Wednesday!!! ^__^)

Ryoukinshin stared at Jeanne levely and then gave a slight smile. He stepped back and resheathed his sword.

"You are no ordinary human; you smell and feel different." he said quietly. "I'll not ask for your secret now." The wolf youkai turned and walked away.

"Whew!" Haku shook his head at the argueing siblings as he walked over to where Taski sat. "Can I sit here or would you rather be alone?"

She gave a slight nod. Haku sat down and watched the others for a while, then spoke. "You and I spar next." he stated.

Privately, Haku was glad. He liked sparring with Taski; it would give him the chance to use the new technique with a leaf blade that Ryoukinshin had taught him.

Chie hummed to herself as she rummaged in the dojo's kitchen. She didn't have any more practice and since it was Maiko's birthday, the young girl decided to make something special. And a cake was simple enough.

Botan was going down the dojo steps when Kurama appeared. Botan was surprised, but smiled at her husband.

"What's up?" she asked brightly, then got more serious. "Oh...Hotaru?"

Kurama smiled wryly. "She's been here for two months. It's time I spoke to her."

Botan touched his arm. "All right." she hesitated. "Do...would you like me to come with you?"

Kurama raised an eyebrow, then smiled again. "No, I think I should be able to handle this on my own." He leaned over and kissed her forehead. "See you later, okay?"

"All right." Botan said, watching him walk away.

Hinageshi sighed as she walked towards her private rooms. Today had been more busy than usual.

"Hina!"

The red-headed ferry-girl turned towards the sound of her nickname. Ayame, holding an arm-load of books was approaching.

"Koenma wanted you for something." she said. "It sounded important."

"Oh....all right." Hinageshi answered. Ayame shot her a quick smile, then headed off for the library.

Koenma looked up as Hinageshi came in.

"You called sir?"

"We have some trouble." the prince said grimly. "Sit down; this may take a while."

(OOC: Okies, I'll post more on the first case after we have a little celebration for Maiko and Kurama has that talk with Hotaru. Sillende, I have some more info for Aljin, so I'll be pming you, k?)

Jeanne watched as Ryoukinshin left. She resheathed her sword and let out a big sigh. As she shook her head and turned to leave she passed by a very familar looking man. She watched him pass and suddenly realized it was Kurama! Her mind began to reel at the last memories she had of him...

FLASH

He was using her rose whip but was stopped short of a monster as the horrid creature threw the man into another wall and then into the ground...

FLASH

Kurama screamed in pain as the monster squeezed him in a huge bear hug...

FLASH

He whispered something hoarsely to his wife and child and then his eyes rolled back into his head and closed... and they never opened again....

FLASH

Jeanne shook her head again as she headed back outside and next to a tree. She slipped down the trunk of the tree and began to think of her future and wept over the other people she remembering watching as a child dieing... Suddenly she looked back up and realized that she was at her special thinking spot....

((Aight Jaid but I don't know If I will get it cuz I'm leaving tomorro for about a week though I might come home early.))

Taski smiled slightly at the thought of sparring with Haku. He was good, not as good as maybe Hotaru but still one of the best out of them. She watch Yanagi and Eriko still chasing though it seemed that Eriko was getting a little tired. "It seems they get more exercise chasing one another than they do sparring." She said after a pause,"I'd hate to have to see those to fight each other though it would probably be really amusing."

Yanagi ran right by where Taski and Haku sat. He fell, seeming to stumble over his own feet right when he passed Taski. He stood up and looked at her standing to his full height in front of her,"What you do that for?" The red eyed girl rasied an eyebrow,"You did that yourself clumbsy fool." He stood there sabout to make a comeback but the red eyed girl spoke before he could say anything.

Taski said,"I am not intimidated by your tallness if that is what you are trying to do. Now I suggest you begin to run before you cause another incident to happen to you." Yanagi had forgotten about Eriko and now began to run but his sister caught him, playfully knocking him to the ground and sitting cross legged on top of his stomach so he couldn't get up.

Yanagi tried to push her off but it was useless. He said with out thinking,"Gee Eriko what do you eat? You way a ton." A slap came to his face. "Ow, is that how you treat your brother? I was only telling the truth..." Another slap came on the other side of his face. Eriko stood finally and Yanagi did as well rubbing at his face.

Hotaru walked down the dojo's long hallway, scoulding herself for the slip about her family. "stupid, stupid, stupid..." she muttered to herself. "Now she thinks I'm some kind of lunatic, idiot!" SHe was so busy reprimading herself, Hotaru didn't notice the man in front of her until she ran into him. "Sorry, I..." she began then looked into the face of the person she had nearly run over. "Kurama?!" she asked, grasping the amulet around her neck, her father's amulet. The red headed man nodded, smiling. "And you must be, Hotaru?" he asked, holding out his hand to her, she took it, surprised at Kurama's human form. "Where are your ears?" she asked him, glancing at the top of his head. He chuckled, and said, "This is going to take a while, why don't we sit down and talk?"

(((HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Srry I had a little bit of comp trouble so I couldn't get on form a week. Anyways I'm back!)))

Maiko sat in her room thinking about the past birthday's she'd been on. She was thought to be a freak because of her looks and none of the girls liked her because she was able to get along very well with guys. She'd tried to invite people to come over but news about her having a 'special' gift got around and so no one came. Her mother had done her best to give Maiko the kind of party she'd always wanted, but it never worked out because her father was always away on business, meaning he was helping Yuske out. Maiko heard a knock on her door and looked up as Caesar, her best friend, came in.
"Whatcha thinkin' about Maiko?"
"None of your buisness, Caesar."
"Fine then. Here happy birthday." He tossed her a package and left felling angry. Maiko opened it and inside was a small dagger that had a blue hilt and marking on the front, she couldn't read them, but put the knife on her table and went outside for a walk...

Koenma softly cleared his throat and opened a file. "There have been some portals opening in Nigenkai; they don't stay open for very long, but we've seen some activity in them." The prince sighed. "For a while, we simply decided to monitor them; as it seemed no harm was coming from that direction."

"But now there is harm." Hinageshi guessed. Koenma nodded.

"Hina, do you remember the time you first met the old Tantei?"

"How could I forget?" Hinageshi said.

"Do you remember the elemental sites?" Koenma continued. Hinageshi nodded, then frowned.

"They were destroyed though." she stated. "Yakumo-"

"I'm not speaking of the same thing, but of something very close." Koenma interuppted. "This is a different set...and one has been activated when it should have been left alone. And the guardian is dead."

"Oh..." Hinageshi said. "I suppose I have to go tell the kids..."

"Yes." Koenma handed her a file. "This should hold all the info."

Haku rolled his eyes at Taski. "The two of you. Sheesh, I don't fight with my siblings have as much as you guys do."

"That's cause your sister and brother are so nice." Eriko stated. "Too bad you aren't as well."

Haku flicked a pebble at her. The girl dodged at him, grinning.

"Why are you so full of energy?" Yanagi grumbled, still rubbing his face. Eriko shrugged.

"Taski, Haku!" Ryoukinshin called. "Your turn."

The two stood and walked over to the training ground and faced off. Taski had her hand on her sword hilt as she knelt into a crouch. Haku did the same as he held a seed in his fist. A faint green-gold light surrounded the closed fist and a long, sharp blade that was a grass green was suddenly in his hands.

The two mainly watched each other, trying to read the other's movements and emotions. Haku narrowed his eyes; Taski would probably attack first. She often tired of his long waiting periods. But Haku didn't mind being on the defensive; it gave him time to come up with a strategy.

True to form, Taski charged, unsheathing her blade. Haku blocked it and then the two were at each other, moving quickly.

Ryoukinshin watched with satisfaction. Soon, Haku would be an even match for the girl. He had been surprised at the boy's dedication to learning how to fight.

Hotaru and Kurama were seated in dojo's front room, facing each other. The kitsune's green eyes studied the girl in front of him. Finally, he spoke.

"I apologize that I did not come sooner." he said, then smiled ruefully. "To tell the truth, I hardly knew how to face you." Kurama looked down, then up again. "If you have any questions for me, you are welcome to ask."

Chei hummed to herself as she cleaned up her mess. A chocolate cake was cooling on top of the oven and the young girl could hardly wait to show Maiko and wish her a Happy Birthday.

Going out, Chie's eyes were bright and her face cheerful. Except for her red hair, she looked very much like a younger, happy Botan.

The smile faded as she saw Jeanne underneath a tree, crying. Walking over, Chie stopped a few feet near the other red-head.

"Are you all right?" Chie asked. Jeanne jumped; Chie had her mother's talent of coming up on people unnoticed.

Alisqua walked in the undergroud fortress that she currently called home. Aljin had moved them here after making a deal with that...that...other demon woman. Alisqua scowled harder, then shook the thoughts from her mind.

The wind demon's dark eyes swept the room she was in. Soon, Aljin kept saying, they would move soon.

She hope so. It was getting terribly boring here.

Maiko smelled something coming from the kitchen and saw Chei with Jeanne, who was crying. 'Poor girl she's far away from home and has to face all of this.' She saw Taski and Haku sparring in the dojo. She wacthed and was impressed at the skill of them both...

Hotaru faced the red headed fox with the peircing green eyes. "Is there anything you'd like to ask me?" he asked. Hotaru nodded, taking her pendant from her neck and swinging it around her hand, as she always did when she was nervous or excited. Kurama remembered the way her father had done the same thing, the red gem swinging back and forth was almost hypnotic. Kurama was amazed how much Hotaru resembled Koroune, her dark hair and deep purple eyes seemed to hold the same fire that his old partner's had. Finally HOtaru spoke.
"Can you tell me about my father? I want to know what he was like, so I can carry on his legacy." Kurama smiled at her question. "Your father was a thief, as was I."Kurama admitted, hoping that this strange girl would not blow up in his face, or start to cry, or something... "That much I know," Hotaru siad quietly. "But that is all i know. Please tell me what he was like, if he was what i have imagined." Kurama thought, recalling his old frined, trying to describe what he had always known...
"Your father was one of the most mystrious, and chiverlous people I have ever known. He was a true friend, he risked his life one day, telling me to run, and save myself, as he was killed. That was the last day I saw him." Kurama thought of that day , not without great pain, it was hard to fight back the wave of emotion that pressed to brake his calm. He gently touched the pendant Hotaru held in her hand, then looked up and smiled at her. "Hotaru... firefly... yes that is a name Koroune would give his child. YOu have so much of him in you, and it is hard for me to look at you, because you bring back so many memories, Hotaru. I would be honered if you would consider me you friend." HOtaru looked at him, seeing what her father must have seen, a cunning fox with a kind heart.What an oximoron this creature was... She slid the pendant back around her neck and looked Kurama in the eye. "I have lived alone for the past thirteen years in the Demon World with no one, i'm afriad i have no use for friends." she said. Kurama chuckled, wonderful, he thought, another Hiei... "What about Taski?" he asked, she glared at him then grinned. "You are clever," she admitted, holding out her hand."Fine fox, we shall be frineds, but on one condition. YOu must tell me everything you remember about my father." KUrama solemly took her hand. "Agreed, now i do belive we have a birthday party to attend?"

Jeanne snapped her head upward at the voice of Chei coming from beside her. She stood and wipped off what little tears was on her face. She smiled slightly and shook her head, "No... I'm just remembering some old memories is all..." She raised her head as she caught the scent of a freshly baked cake on the wind. "I smell something good to eat...", the young woman replied as Chei followed her back to the temple...

Chie smiled happily. "It's a birthday cake!" she said. "I made it for Maiko because I think she was feeling a little sad that she couldn't have a birthday party. But now she can. Only..." the girl's face darkened a bit. "Do you suppose she'll mind not having candles?"

Haku and Taski were both breathing hard as they prepared to face off again. Another one of the reasons Haku liked to spar with Taski was that she was a challenge; he had to fight and strategize hard to stay on her level. The red-head grinned a little to himself as Taski began another charge.

Maiko continued to watch Haku and Taski spare, 'Man, Haku's fighting at her level, or close to it.' She left the two of them to spare, and continued to walk around the gardens near the temple. She saw Chei and Jeanne heading towards the kitchen, Eriko chasing and hitting Yanagi, Caesar sitting in the trees, Hotaru and Kurama heading towards the kitchen as well. 'Great, Chei's planing a birthday party for me. She even baked a cake. Guess I shouldn't disappoint them.'

Caesar overheard what his little sister was saying, jumped down from the tree, and followed his sister.
"I don't think she'll mind at all Chei." His sister jumped alittle at his voice.
"I just hope your planning on having enough because dad is here." Chei smiled at her brother
"Of course there'll be enough. Come on she's over there. We need to get back and get everything set up before she comes back." the three of them headed for the kitchen....
