It is the time of Kings and Queens. Of knights, lords, and peasents. When chivalry was the norm, and nobility honored. This is Denmark, in the time of the dark ages. The king is dead. His widow now helps to govern the kingdom with the aide of her late-husbands advisers. Now there are suiters vying for her hand. The king's son is almost old enough to assume the throne but before he does he must marry. Every noble maiden in the land is trying to win the prince's love.

This is a combination Cinderella, Hamlet, and Odyssey. However it won't have your cleashey storyline, such as no peasents marrying the prince or finding nobility in their blood line. They can rise to a nobility statis however, but keep it to a few please. All are welcome to join. There can be anything, from witches and sorcerers, to knights and peasents. I do need someone to be the queen, please. Also if there can be a somewhat equal amount of women and men that would be good. Other than that your character is at your disposal. I would like this to be a story with lots of chivalry. It is a very romantic period and so your characters can be as romantic as you want them. No need to ask if you can join just jump right in. All that I ask is a very, very brief paragraph about your character. Most of all have fun.

My character is Aroura. She is the child of one of the queen's advisors, very beautiful. She has a very kind and yet ditermind spirit. She has feelings for the prince but is not vying for his love.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The stone halls of the castle where painted in shadows. The sounds of the night disterbed only by the soft footfalls of a sleepless maiden. Aroura glided gracefully through the cold halls. Her long night gown and wool robe flowing behind her. She moved like a ghost, silent. This night her mind was filled with thoughts of the prince. She had seen him today, much like she had seen him everyday. But today he was different. His face seemed far away, distant from the rest of the court.

Her heart ached and cried out with all the feeling that it had. But she was alone in her feelings. The only maiden at court, she was the only one who felt that way. She couldn't tell him though. If he did not love her than it did not matter how she felt.

Aroura was a fillial child. She was obedient and disiplined. She would die for her father if it was necessary, and in turn he confided in her. She had a level of intelligence uncommon for her womanhood. Her father had taught her well hoping that with the knowledge, she would become like him. She was all he had left of his wife, who had died only a few years ago. She knew that she had a responcebility to him now that he was growing older. She looked after him, took care of him.

Now she wondered the halls alone hoping to clear her mind.

(sorry this is so long. )

((OOC: Joan is my main character, but I will also be controlling some of her friends as well. I hope that's alright.))
Joan skipped along the side of the road with the rest of her friends. They had spent the afternoon picking flowers and talking about the Prince. But she was the only one who hadn't spoken a word about him. What did she care about a prince? If he could not come down to the village to speak with the commoners or dress without being enrobed in jewels then she wanted nothing to do with him.

"Joan, what think you of the Prince? I haven't heard you say a word about him all day!" Mary shouted at her as she put her completed flower garland upon her head.

Joan shrugged. She thought nothing of the Prince but could not utter that to her friends, lest she become the outcast.
"He is a prince, what more is there to say?"

((OOC: Hey there - I'd like to take the role of the Queen of that's ok?))

"Are you alright Your Royal Highness?" a servant woman asked the pretty, red haired Queen as she stood at her toilette getting ready for bed. It was about 11 o'clock at night time, all in the palace had gone to bed and all was quiet.

"Pardon? Oh yes, I'm fine Martha, thank you. It's just, it feels so different without my husband here. I never thought I'd see the day when I would have to take over my husband's place of running the country," she replied faintly, her face expressionless and her blue eyes vacant.

Rose was a young Queen, 38, and had been young when she'd had her only son. She was originally from England, but her father had encouraged her to marry overseas to secure connections with England and Denmark. Her husband had been 14 years her senior, although she felt great affection for him, she was never "in love" with him. She missed him greatly, but wanted to hold out to find someone she could love properly.

Running the country wasn't something she was very used to, but as the weeks had gone on she began to understand how things were done - and doing a fine job too. She had been encouraged to move out of her black mourning clothes, and into dark navy blue - it still showed respect, but she wanted her nation to cheer up and move on. Now there was her son's future marriage to be plotted, and her own. . .

(Hm, just a suggestion, you ought to have an oc discussion for this. It looks like it will need one. I'd like to join as well, but as we all ready have three girls...I'm going to introduce three boys. I do better with multiple characters, so...)

Philip was walking down the hall ways of the palace, rather slowly. He was thinking about somethings, but the foremost in his thoughts was the fact that his mother wanted him to marry.

As prince, Philip couldn't take the throne properly until he had a queen; and at nineteen, he was old enough to marry. He certainly didn't lack suitors; not only was he a prince, but being tall and handsome with golden hair and green eyes added to that. He could also be very charming if he wished.

Looking up, he saw Aroura walking down the halls. She was a nice girl, but so quiet and obediant that Philip sometimes wondered if there wasn't more underneath.

Walking up to her, he smiled and bowed. "Good morning, My lady. I trust you are well?"

***

"Ah!!" a young voice shouted in frustration from inside the stable.

Outside the stable, a boy with reddish brown hair rolled his eyes. Tall and lanky, he leaned against the wall with a practiced nonchalance, as his dark grey eyes scanned the area around him.

There was another frustrated sound and the red-haired boy shook himself and straightened. "Oi, Robert, come on! I'm hungry!"

Robert, the boy who had been shouting to himself in the stable appeared. Small and wiry, with big blue eyes and soft blonde hair that was too long, Robert usually was conisdered younger than his sixteen years or worse, sometimes mistaken for a girl. Right now, his blue eyes were glaring at the red-head.

"Well, I'm sorry! I have to finish up in here, Luke, or I'm dead." Robert sighed and ran a slender hand throuhg his hair. It settled back down in his eyes and Luke chuckled.

Robert stared at him. "What?" he asked

"Nothing. It's just that when your hair curls that way, you look so pretty!" Luke teased. Robert's cheeks flushed.

"Stop!" He demanded, hands on hips, but that just made Luke laugh harder. Robert scowled and then "accidently" bumped over a rake that had been against the wall.

"Oops." he said falsely. Luke rubbed his head and glared.

"All right, you've made your point. Can we go now?"

Robert shook his head. "No. I've told you I have work."

Luke sighed and looked at his friend with sympathy. Since he had met Robert, the boy had been working in the Royal stables. His grandfather had arranged it, knowing that was as close as Robert could get to the knights he so greatly admired.

To Luke, Robert's dream of wearing a knight's crest was foolish, but he never said so. Besides, Luke was only concerned with three things: where the next meal was coming from, where to sleep that night and how best to irritate Joan, the villiage girl.

Speaking of which...the boy grinned. "Well, I'll leave you to your chores then." With that, he turned and headed off. Robert watched him go, then sighed to himself and went back into the stables. He still needed to find that bridle piece; perferabbly before the head master accused him of stealing it. Robert didn't want to think what would happen then.

The girls eventually made their way to the local tavern, looking for some nourishment and entertainment. They passed the castles gates and the girls stopped and stared up at the castle.
"Could you image living in that?" said Aurora, a small girl with beady eyes, a pointed nose and black curly hair.

"Aye, I bet you Joan has imagined it! It was probably what she was doing all day since she hardly spoke a word!" Mary let out a cackle of laughter and her red hair billowed around her face in the wind.

"Oh Mary, you and your silly ideas. 'Twas not the Prince who occupied my thoughts, but how best to avoid running into Luke again. He seems to love to taunt me at every chance he gets." Her brown eyes gleamed with malcontent and she brushed her blond hair off her face.

"Come now Joan, do not be afraid to tell us you are in love with the Prince!" Ariana gushed as the girls peeled their eyes away from the castle and started back on route to the tavern.

Ooc- Sounds awesome. I think....*counts girls and boys* introduce a girl, she's a 'Noble Warrior', somewhat like a knight, but she doesn't work for royality most of the time. Is it okay to have a girl that's a warrior?

Ravon rode on her horse down the path. Her black hair sticking out all over, she was wearing a purplish black armour, very heavy done. She was tanned skinned, with dark, dark green eyes. Her sword was large and done in a speacil design.

Ravon stopped the horse and looked ahead at the village, then the castle over looking it. She smiled to herself and continued on her Felf horse. She came upon a group of girls. "Hello, could you please direct me to the nearest Inn? Or tavern?" she asked politely. Noticing that some of the girls seemed 'giddy', she frowned inside. She had never been the happy type, being raised in a family of boys and always working since they were poor. She had comitted her life to helping others.

((( thank you all for joining There is an OCC up in the forum under the same name so we can discuss stuff there, and maybe get somemore people. ooooooh. Oh and Lily, I guess it's OK but could you possibly not make her as good as a man. I mean if you could make her kind of like Eowyn in the TT, not a warrior but willing to fight when necessary and good at it that would fit better with the story. Thanks.)))

Aroura was startled by the voice.

"Good morning, My lady. I trust you are well?"

She looked at the Phillip and quickly lowered her eyes bowing.
"Good morning my lord Phillip. I am well, yes. I hope you are well in turn?"

"Aroura."
She looked to see her father at the end of the hall.
"I am sorry my lord, but I must go. Farewell."

He father walked with her father back to her room. Along the way he told her that he wanted her to go down to the village and gather some things for the him.

Back in her room her maid help her to lace up her dress and then put on her double girdle. Her hair was pulled tightly back and pinned in several small rosettes to her head. She laced up her boots and headed out of her room down to the stables.

Her horse was saddled and ready for her when she arrived along with her two escorts. She gave her small basket to one of the knights and her hand to the other. With his help she climbed onto her horse. Taking her basket, she put it on one arm and waited for them. Once they were all atop their horses, they left.

"Thank you Robert." Aroura said with a warm smile as she passed him.

Once in town, one of the knights stayed with the horses as the other went with Aroura to get what she needed. She knowtists some of the looks she got from the peasent women. Some were warm smiles and yet there were some who glared at her wondering why she was here. Aroura didn't want them to be angry, and there looks made her alittle sad.

"Is everything alright my lady?"
"Yes Sir Hugh, everything is fine. I just wonder why . . . never mind. How is your family?" She wanted to hurry and get what she needed but didn't want her escort to feel uncomfortable just following her.

(Wow sorry this is so long)

"Good morning my lord Phillip. I am well, yes. I hope you are well in turn?" Aurora answered the prince.

Philip smiled. "Reasonably."

"Aurora." a voice came from the end of the hall.

"I am sorry lord, but I must go. Farewell."

Philip nodded as the girl turned and went to her father. Sighing, he went towards his mother's chambers, to see if she was up to seeing him.

***

Robert sat on a stool and bit his lip in frustration. He couldn't find the bridle anywhere. All the boy could think about was how much trouble he was going to be in when the headmaster found out-

"Robert!" a booming voice rang out. Robert jumped nearly a feet in the air as the headmaster appeared.

"Yes?" he stuttered a little.

"Get Lady Aurora's horse ready; she must needs get to town today." the large man said and then walked out again.

Robert went and got Dawn, a chestnut mare that Lady Aurora was fond of. He quickly got her equipment on and held Dawn as the lady mounted when she was ready. Robert's eyes couldn't help but stray to the two knights who accompanied the lady. Someday he was going to be one of those, no matter what Luke thought!

"Thank you, Robert." Lady Aurora said with a warm smile. Robert blinked, then blushed as he bowed his head. It was all he could think to do.

After they had ridden out the gate, he ran back towards the tack room; surely there was some place he had not searched yet!

***

Luke sauntered down to the villiage, taking his time. He was trying to figure a way to let the pub owner let him get away with a free lunch.

"Come now Joan, do not be afraid to tell us you are in love with the Prince!"

'Joan, eh?' Luke grinned as he spotted the villiage girl.

"And who's in love with a prince?" he asked, a mischievious grin upon his face.

"Joan." a red-head he knew to be Mary, giggled. "An' she refuses to admit it."

Luke looked at Joan. "Well, how about it, lass? Are ya?"

***

'I don't beleive it! It's not here?' Robert sank to the dirt floor, numbly.

The piece lost was a silver bridle; beautifully made...and it belonged to Queen Rose. Robert had been given the job of polishing it when needed, but he hadn't seen it since he'd put it away this morning.

'I'm in big trouble...' Robert thought. He'd never make it to knighthood if they thought he was a thief...

Like the evening before, and so many more before that, the Queen sat again at her toilette table preparing for the day ahead. Half a dozen servant women busied themselves around her, and her chamberwomen, Martha and Cosette, went about painting on her face and finding glamerous clothes for her to wear today.

Rose was still relatively young, but once her make up was on she looked almost as young as her son - from a distance at least! She was in her customary navy blue again, still showing her grief for her late husband. She heard a knock come from her door, and knowing that there was someone on the otherside to let whoever it was in, she turned to face whoever was to come to her.

"Ah, Phillip, there you are," she said gently, managing a smile for her son to whom she loved the most in the entire world. She held out her hand elegently and he kissed it respectfully. Once he is King, this will no longer be a custom. She will curtsy to him as a loyal subject would.

"Good morning, Mama. I trust you slept well?" Phillip asked her knowing that a few weeks back, she hadn't been sleeping well.

"Yes, yes. I'm going through town today. It's time I left the palace and began showing myself to the people again," she began, beginning to fiddle with things at her table. "My sister has brought her husband with her to visit, your Aunt and Uncle, from England. I know it isn't customary, but I wish to meet them when they arrive".

Phillip listened, and nodded, "Are you sure...?"

"Yes, yes - I will be fine," she smiled at her son tenderly, knowing that he was the one who cared most about her. "Don't worry yourself over me, you have other things to worry yourself with," she finished, then looked in her mirror at her reflection. Feeling satisfied with herself, she stood and made for the door. "I will see you at dinner. I will return later with your Aunt Eliza and Uncle Earnest this afternoon," pausing again, she walked up to her son and kissed him gently on the forehead.

Her door was opened and she exited, making her way down to where a Royal Carriage was awaiting her at the back entrance of the palace. A Lady-in-Waiting, Maria, was with her an the carriage proceeded through the gate and down the main street where people in the streets cheered, or booed, as they passed.

((OOC: Yipes, a long post. I do tend to get ahead of myself sometimes...hope you don't mind ))

"Well, well, speak of the devil...If it ain't Luke the Fluke (how cheesy is that?). And if I am in love with the Prince, what business is it of yours, street rat?" Joan shot Luke a dirty look as she came nose to nose with him, but was interupted by a woman on a horse asking for a tavern.

"Oh...Are you a lady knight, ma'am?" cooed Aurora, her eyes widening at the sight of the saddled woman.

"There's one down the road, it's called the Savage Wolf. We were headed that way when he," Joan narrowed her eyes on Luke and continued, " decided to butt in. But anyways, tread carefully 'round the Wolf, people in there don't take kindly to strangers, specially ones like yourself. Well, out with it Luke, why does it concern you?"

But instead of letting him answer, she fixed her gaze on an approaching carriage, which no doubt contained the Queen. The other girls were busy admiring the horse and took no notice as it passed. After the carriage was out of sight, they continued one their way to the tavern. Joan kept silent, aware that Luke was still following them. She played with her wreath of flowers, each flower carefully wound around the other.

Ooc- Darn computer!!! I posted yesterday a nice post and it didn't show up!

Ravon smirked. "Yes, I am a lady Knight. I thank you for the directions and warnings." she continued ahead to the tavern. Once there, she tied her horse to a post and walked inside. It look average enough, she noticed a few glares coming from some people as she sat at a table, studying the room. "Barkeep, Root ale." she ordered. The barkeeper had never heard of it, telling her so. "Ah, well, just a ale then." Ravon answered.

She noticed it was mostly common people in the room, no Knights. She bit her lip, Where I came from, they'd be flockin' here like no tomorrow, awaiting their next duties she thought and relaxed a little, nervouse. "Are you here to try for the prince's hand?" the barkeep asked while serving her drink. "Well, if I had the choice, I'd like the rest of him and not just the hand." she joked. "I have not heard no news of such things, a prince without a bride? I am not here to 'try out' for him, I have no need to tie my being to one place." she said.

Aroura had everything that her father had sent her to get. As she and her escort returned to the horses and the other knight she knowtist the royal carraige coming down the street.

The queen must be out for a drive before she goes back to the castle.

Aroura knew that she only had a little time before the queen would return. She had to get back to the palace before she did. Riding hard towards the castle she laughed as the wind whipped her hair all about.

She dismounted just inside the gates and hurried across the courtyard, up the stairs to the great hall. The queen's advisors were already assembling. He father sat in his chair two away from the seat of the queen. She hurried by him so that he would know that she was back. Quickly she kissed his cheek before disappearing through the door at the other end of the hall. She went to her father's chambers to put the basket in it.

Returning to the hall she saw Phillip standing silently alone. His gaze was fixed out the window. He seemed disturbed.

"Phillip." She said her voice concerned. "Are you alright? You seem troubled."

Phillip turned his head slowly looking at her with a gaze so distant that she was almost afraid. For the first time she could see that something was seriously wrong. And for the first time she wanted to reach out to him and hold him close to comfort him.

Occassionally the Queen waved to her subjects in response to their cheers. It had been some time since she had been out and about with them - when her husband was alive and King.

"You must be looking forward to seeing your sister again Your Majesty," Maria commented from where she sat in front of the Queen. "You've not met her husband before have you?"

"No, I haven't. I didn't even know she had married until my advisors got word of her coming. It has been a long time since I saw her last. She is five years my senior, so I'm guessing she married shortly after I came here," Rose replied.

They went silent again as the carriage passed through the park, where many aristocracy were picnicing with one another and children played in the sunlight. She smiled at such beauty, never wanting it to ever be destroyed as it so easily could.

They reached the port where Eliza and Earnest's ship was to dock. Rose had so wanted to send someone rather than herself to meet them, but she had to get out of the palace. Plus, it might look bad the Queen not meeting her own sister.

A very well dressed woman and gentleman stood waiting as the carriage pulled in. The woman had red hair, clearly dyed, and blue eyes. She was well-rounded, and quite tall. She held onto the gentleman's arm clearly unamused with what was around her. The gentleman was younger than his wife. He had short black hair and gray eyes, and very handsome.

They caught sight of the Queen in her carriage as she gracefully stept down to meet them. A number of importaint woman and gentlemen were present also and curtsied as she made her way towards the couple.

"Rose! How lovely to see you, and looking so young!" Eliza said coming towards her sister and embracing her. Rose could help but notice that she wasn't acting in a way of respect, as was expected of her sister, without a curtsy. People around noticed, but said nothing thankfully.

"Eliza, welcome," was all Rose could manage in her sister's embrace.

"Your Majesty," Earnest said bowing, and took her hand and kissed it.

Rose couldn't help but hold her gaze on Earnest. He was so very handsome! He clearly knew how to act around royalty, and Rose couldn't help but smile. "Earnest, what an honour it is to finally meet you at last. You are welcome".

They turned and began making their way back to the carriage, not saying a word. Servants carried their baggage (there was a lot of it, mostly Eliza's) and loaded it into another carriage that would follow on behind. As Rose began making her way up the stairs, Earnest held out his hand to help her, Rose took it happily.

"Earnest! There are people who do that!" Eliza said very loudly, and in a crude way. Earnest nodded and said nothing, as did Rose who closed her eyes at the tone her sister used - with which she knew well.

They took their seat and the carriage took off making thier way back to the palace, Rose waved as she went with a smile. Eliza joined in, happily. Rose didn't say anything to her, but continued to wave. Earnest closed his eyes as if to say "Lord, here we go" then locked eyes with Rose, who was thinking that same thing. The entire way back to the palace, Rose sneeked looks at Earnest - he really was the most handsome man she'd ever laid eyes on!

Luke followed the girls towards the pub. Joan had turned away without letting him answer, but he'd expected it. He'd also expected the title of "street rat", but it didn't bother him much; after all, that's what he was.

Throwing back his head, he studied the sky, giving the girls a head start. Why anyone would want to spend time with a bunch of giggly girls and a tomboy was beyond him. Maybe he should've stuck with Robert...

Then his stomach growled and Luke hopped to his feet again, formulating a plan to get a free meal.

***

Philip turned to Aurora. "My aunt is bringing her new husband from England." he admitted. "I fear that her visit will put more strain upon my mother." He sighed a little.

"You'd think" he said quietly. "That my aunt would have the decency to write personally and tell my mother of her visit. It's still so soon after Father's death..."

***

Robert had run all the way to town. He'd finished his duties and now wanted to find Luke. He didn't think the boy had taken the bridle, but maybe, because he was a thief, Luke would know better than Robert of where to look.

By the time he reached the Savage Wolf, he was out of breath and shaky. Blue eyes wide, he looked about him, but no Luke.

Going to the bar, he was about to speak, when he saw a lady knight. For a moment, he stared at her in open admiration, then shook himself.

"Jacob?" he asked. The bartender looked at him.

"What kin I do for ya?" the man asked.

"Have you seen Luke?" Robert said. "It's important."

"Don't know why you'd want him then." Jake grunted. "But he hasn't shown up today. At least not yet."

"Thank you." Robert said. Jacob gave him a friendly smile.

"Sit have an' have a drink of water, boy. You look as if you've seen the ghost of the old King himself!"

"I wish it was just that." Robert muttered to himself. He accepted the glass of water Jacob handed him and sat at the bar, only a few seats over from the lady knight. And despite his anxiety, he couldn't help but sneak a glance at her now and then.

Ravon looked around, the tavern seemed quiet, which was what she liked. Not noisy and constantly busy like cities she ahd been to. She eyed a boy that had entered, but turned away. She finished her drink, standing up she walked over to the Barkeep, her armoured shoes did not clank but made a solid sounding 'thuck' against the wooden floor. "Barkeeper, do you have any rooms up for rent. I'd be looking to stay a few nights in this city before getting on my way again. Oh and where's the nearest Stable? My horse needs to be cared for." she said, her voice proud, but yet cold.

"Well, there's a room open for a few days. But you betta' have ready cash for it. As for a stable, I would not know." he answered, she frowned, taking off her long , also armoured, glove and stuck her hand in a pouch tied on the side of her armour. She took out a small pack of gold coins and gave it to the Barkeep. "It's up the stairs and the second room on the left." the man took the money and left to put it away.

Ravon glanced out of the corner of her eye at the boy. She turned and walked over to where he was sitting. "Mister, would you happen to know of a stable where I could keep my horse, please?" she asked politely.

Aurora (oops I have been spelling it wrong  ) touched Phillip's arm but pulled back quickly. She did not want to over step her place.

"They will not be here for a little while. And her Magesty has matters to discuss with her court before she gives your guests a formal welcome. You have some time before she will call on you. Perhaps you can spend some time alone."

She paused, thinking for a moment about what she was about to say.

"But then again you may not want to be alone with the way you feel and I would enjoy your company if your Highness would be so willing."

She lowered her gaze then embaraced with what she had said.

-------------------------------------------
Rupert sat with the other advisors who chatted continuesly. Aurora's entrance had brought a ray of sunshine to the grim news that had to be discussed.

"We must deside what needs to be done about the suposed threat from Norway. If Fortinbras is to attack we must be prepared."

"Yes Rupert, but still we can not assume that these rumors are true. The messenger said that there would be a message of certanty within the week."

Rupert did not like giving the queen suspisions but that was all they had at the moment.

"We must bring it to her attention though. She must know that there could be a threat."

"With the arrival of her sister and the search for a bride for her son now is not the time to make her Majesty worry."

"I will bring it to her attention. There may not be an immediate attack but she must understand that there is a chance of one and she must be prepared."

Rupert leaned back in his chair having finalized his arguement. He would tell the Queen and whether she took it lightly or if she proposed to gather a force it would bring the matter out. Then the trumpets sounded and the great doors swung open as the Queen entered with her sister and her sister's husband. All the men rose in her presence.

Rose strode through the doors to where her advisors now stood at her arrival. Earnest and Eliza followed behind her, Eliza with a throughly smug look on her face. Earnest followed with no real emotion.

"Ah, Eliza I must meet with my advisors. I'm sorry I cannot welcome you formally right at this time, but I will. I'm afraid business has to come first. I suggest the two of you perhaps take a tour with one of the palace keepers so you know where you are going round here. Eliza don't look at me like that," Rose said, seeing her sister's expression on her face, as if to say 'you want us to do what? While you're here running the country? Pul-eese!"

"Alright Rose, you're the boss afterall," Eliza said and turned and stormed out of the room. Earnest was left there not knowing what to do.

"Ah, sorry about her Your Majesty, you know how she is," he tried to apologise on behalf of his wife.

"Yes, yes Earnest. Unfortunately I do know," Rose sighed and took her seat with the council. "I hope you don't mind, but I must begin our meeting".

"Yes, yes, of course M'am," Earnest replied, and took a seat at the table! Rose looked at him quizically.

"Oh yes, Your Majesty, Sir Earnest Cartwright has joined our council, prime reason for this visit. We have some, erm, matters to discuss that we will need his help with. As he is from England, and family, you have no objection?" and advisor spoke up imformatively.

Quite shocked, Rose recovered with, "Ah, no, I have no objection. Reside here permanently? Eliza as well?" thinking quickly as how the country would accept him. He was not of their waters so may not welcome him so willingly. The nation wasn't throughly happy with her marrying their King 19 years ago, so how would they take this. And living with Eliza again? How would she cope?

"Yes, Your Majesty," Earnest answered, smiling. Rose returned his smile, she couldn't help it.

Sighing she replied, "Very well then. I now welcome all present, let the council begin," making the meeting official. Then, remembering what someone had mentioned before, "Matters? What matters exactly?"

"Military matters, M'am. Sir Cartwright here has, experience, with these matters," came the reply.

"Ah......military matters?" Rose reply, her full attention on the council now. "Please Gentlemen, what do you mean by these military matters?"

(OOC: Bronwynn, I thought by making Earnest part of the council, it could advance your idea you PMed me about. Hope that's ok)

(((oooooh I like! This is just the kinda thing I was hoping would happen.)))

Rupert was just as shocked as the queen when the new comer sat down, but he help his tongue so as not to be rude.

"Ah......military matters?" Rose reply, her full attention on the council now. "Please Gentlemen, what do you mean by these military matters?"

"Your Majesty, our embassadors to Norway have sent us word that there may be a possible threat from our neighbor to the north. (I think I got the geography right.) Though they say that it is only a rumor, for now, they have guarenteed us a full report this week. I would strongly advise Your Majesty to be prepared for any result."

Rupert looked at the queen with pity, she should not have to be burdened with such heavy matters as these. The sooner she was married the better.

"What would you gentlemen advise?" The queen said.

"Send a few more men to Norway in the hopes of stopping the attack if the rumor is true. Your son would be a worth subject in this matter. He could have an audience with Prince Fortinbras and maybe from one prince to another work something out." Sir Cartwright said.

"Yes but at the same time I would suggest your Majesty continue with the ball for your son tomorrow night. It would not be wise to hault everything before knowing what will really happen. And afterwards, if the threat is certain than the men can be sent." Lord Rubert said

"And I have the plans for the ball tomorrow evening, so if the matter with Norway is settled for the time being I would like to go over them."

"Yes. Is that all on the previous matter gentlemen?"

The silence conviened that there wasn't. The jestered for the man to continue.

"Invitations have been sent to all maidens of noble birth through out the counrty and also to some of our neighboring countries. The meal has been planned and the cooks are already working on it. During the banquet there will be entertainment, knights and jesters of all sorts. The castle keepers are decorating the dining hall as we speak and once our meetings are finished for the day they will begin on the great hall."

Everything seemed to be working smoothly. All except for the possible threat from Norway. Rupert decided that he had an idea to propose to the queen in the affect there would be an attack. It pained him though to think that he would do this.

Joan and co. arrived at the Wolf to see Robert sitting at the bar and talking with Jacob, the bartender. They sat all around him and Mary started to make fun of him...

"Oy Robert, still haven't cut your 'air eh? Ohh but it will be so much better that way to impress the Prince, maybe he'll like you so much he'll ask for your hand in marriage!" She went into a fit of giggles at the same time as Ariana and Aurora.

But Joan didn't see what was so funny and just looked up from her garland with her brows arched.
"Oh Mary, won't you leave him alone for once, what has he ever done to you? Don't listen to her Robert, she's full of horse dung."

Mary sent Joan a wicked stare and her eyes were full of daggers but Joan just rolled her eyes and sat down next to Robert. "Waiting for Luke? He was right behind us, probably got held back seeing an easy targer to pickpocket. Jacob, an ale and some chicken please."
__________________________________________________
Meanwhile Luke was still making his way to the tavern when a little boy came running up to him, huffing and puffing. He was one of Joan's little brothers, hardly nine years old.
"You there! Er, Luke right? Have you seen my sister 'nywhere? I need to find her...Father's been taken to the castle!"

(((Hope you guys don't mind? My hars named Elisabeth. I posted her bio in OOC for more about her)))

A girl, maybe around 16 walked quietly into the Royal stables with her horse, Nightfire. Beautiful, sleek and black it had helped her ditch her stupid guards. She found an open stall one that was kept beautifully and looked as if it belonged to someone important. She slowly quietly tied her horse inside. Something in the corner of her vision caught her eye. She walked over to the something glinting from under neath the hay. She pulled it up. It was a beautifully crafted saddle swathed in silver.

(((hey look Robert I found your saddle!)))

"I wonder what this is?" she whispered. Her voice was high and musically and she was a beautiful singer, her voice entrancing.

Glancing around quickly she hid it back under the hay and crept back out of the stables, casting a ragged gray cloak over her shoulders to hide her emerald, green, pretty low-cut dress.

She walked into town. A bar caught her eye. "Hmm...' she thought. 'this might be a good place to stay. I'm certain no one will recognise me here.'

She stepped lightly into the bar and tapped her fingers on the shoulder of a blonde-haired girl. "Escuse me miss..."

The 'she' turned around and she gasped. "I'm so sorry sir!"

((hey! hope it's ok if I join I posted my character paragraph in OOC))

Eleanor walked slowly down the streets studying the town. Denmark was so different from England, and she was still adjusting. It had been almost a year since her mother's death, but it had taken her three months just to find away across the English Channel. Now she was in an entirely new country, half-starved, homeless, and out of money.
What are you going to do now? she thought to herself.
You've run away from your lord's manor, and your a thousand miles from home. You don't have any money.
She felt in her pocket for the sole copper coin she had left. It felt warm in her hand. Abbot Coley had given it to her, along with the rough woolen cloak she wore now.
"Take this," he'd said, placing a small bag of coins in her hand. Along with these he'd given her warm clothing and a loaf of bread fresh from the oven and sent her on her way. " and may God bless you child." She remembered his gentle voice fondly and now she wished she'd stayed in the monastary and hadn't insisted on leaving but it was to late now.
Eleanor was yanked from her thoughts as she was nearly run over by a peddeler's cart. "Hey! Watch were 'yer goin'!!!" he yelled.

Cassandra arrived at the royal palace in the early afternoon with her household retinue, but to her shock and outrage no one was there to receive her. Only a stupid footman. And he could so nothing but gape wide-mouthed at her entourage. She immediately ordered him to find her useless cousin Harold, who obviously failed to arrange matters accordingly, and made herself comfortable in the nearest sitting room.

A few minutes later, breathless and red-faced, Harold ran into the room to face Lady Cassandra's wrath. He had completely forgotten that his cousin was arriving this afternoon. Besides, he was now going to be late for the meeting with his Queen and her advisors.

Cassandra's blue eyes flashed ice as she glared at him coming into the room. "Cousin Harold, I seem to have come at an inconvinient time. For no one was here to greet me or show me my rooms. And with the chaos of preparing for the ball, I doubt there will be room for me to stay. I am afraid I will have to find lodgings elsewhere," she said, her voice getting louder as she went on.

"No no, cousin, I have arranged everything. Please if you will allow me, I will go find the housekeeper to take you to your chambers," he said hurriedly, nervously wringing his hands.

With a magnanimous wave of her hand, Harold left the room.

****************************

Rafe was leading a small group of knights, protecting the Lady Cassndra. As they eneterd the grounds of the palace, he saw that the grounds were impeccably groomed and treated. No stray twig or weed would be found, he knew. He palace loomed in the far distance, a towering specter of nobility, power, and grandeur. This was a place he could get used to living in, if things went his way. They wound their way up the drive until they reached the grand gate outside he perimeter of the castle. Their standards were already seen and noted and they were let in without an argument.

Rafe looked across to Cassandra, sitting there elegantly and arrogantly, as if she already owned the place. She cast a furtive glance over at him, her eyes full of hidden meaning, and he smiled back at her. She expected him to help her - which he was willing to do - but then to take a lesser role after she gained the throne was something he was not willing to do. But he wasn't going to tell her that.

They finally reached the castle and Cassandra entered. About a quarter of an hour passed before anybody from the palace came out and gave them their direction. The Lady's handmaids were to follow and attend to their lady, while the knights were to be housed with the other knights of the palace. The knights rode off to the stables to tend to their horses.

*****************************

Cassandra was finally being shown to her rooms in the East Wing of the palace. She was sufficiently appeased by the largeness and opulence of her chamber and the direct set-up. On entering the rooms, there was a sitting room, with large airy windows and comfortable chairs and sofas. To the left of the room was a room large enough for her maids and attendants. And finally to the right of the room was her large bedchamber, tastefully done in pale green and golden silk hangings.

Cassandra was too restless to stay idle in her rooms, so leaving her attendents to take care of everything, she left to explore the castle.

(So sorry! This post is so much longer than I expected!)

Ravon tapped her foot, her eyes narrowing and her mouth in a grim frown. Clearly the strangers had chosen to ingore the Lady Knight, she turned and strode angrily out of the tavern. She un-tied her horse, Moralata, and got on, she backed from the pole and started down the street. She looked at each of the signs. Mostly houses, a bakery, ordinary things. She planned to make a bit of money to keep her on her way, her coins were lessening by the day. And she wished not to have to sell anything of hers.

"Ah poor luck, the people warned me right, such a snobby town." she muttered bitterly. She heard people whispering as she made her way towards the castle. She stopped once or twice to listen. "Did you hear? It's rumor there's dnager coming from the north, such I time to attack when the country is weak. Even with the men and Knights, One would not know if the Lady knew how to govern them." a woman said to another. Mere gossip...but yet... Ravon looked at the castle. Would they be in need of more warriors?

Ravon doubted the fact of war, but knew it could go either way. She decided that she would try to offer her service to the Queen, but thought about the fact her freedom to roam from city to another would disminess. She continued on, coming to the gates, the Guards peered down at her. "Who are you? And what do you want?" the asked.

Ravon sat firmly, gazing up at the Guards. "I wish to enter. and speak to your Queen." she yelled back. "Why and who are you?" they asked again. Dung-eaters... she thought, "I am Ravon of....the Southern Border. I wish to meet with the head of Guards." she changed her topic. "Very well then." they said, the gate dropped. Ravon slowly made he way in, feeling somewhat excited. Not in all her years of roaming had she the chance of being behind a castle's walls. "Halt. Discard your weapons, stranger." a guard stepped in her path. She bit her lip, but got off her horse. "Fine then..." she discarded her sword, and whip. She tied her horse to a post, stroking his side then leaving.

"Where is the head of guards? As I said I wish to speak to him." she asked, non too nicely. "Follow me." the guard said and started down a hallway. Ravon followed, her eyes studying the area and hallway around her. They stopped at a door, the guard knocked. "What is it?" a man's voice came from behind the door. "Someone here wishes to speak to you." the guard replied.

"Send them in." was the answer, the guard opened the door and motioned Ravon in. She walked in, seeing a man, who looked like he was glaring. A harsh look she sent back, "Who are you?" he asked. "Ravon of the southern border, I wish to try out for the guards, or at least offer my service." she said, awaiting his reply.

Eleanor spotted a tavern up the road with a painted sign above the door. Warm, pleasant smells drifted to her from inside. They taunted her mercilessly and she remembered that she hadn't eaten in three days. She felt again for the coin in her pocket and sighed. It wasn't enough to buy a drink of water, let alone food. She stopped just outside the door and gazed at the sign. The Savage Wolf, eh? Maybe the bartender is a kind soul. With that she ambled in. Looking up to the counter, she saw a group of young folks her own age. One was speaking with the bartender. She noticed by his gear he was a stable boy and that thought lightened her mood for an instant...and only an instant. It also reminded her that she'd probably be sleeping in a stable tonight....if she could find one.

Elisabeth glanced at the girl that walked in. She looked like ill-luck had been with her for quite some time. She smiled and walked up to the girl, trying to ignore the boy's ignigant stares when she had called him a girl. "Hello, friend. What brings ye here? Let me by thee a drink and we may talk."

"W...Why thank you!" she stammered, rather surprised. Excepting the ale thankfully, she took a seat. A woman with a tray passed by. It was heaped with steaming food and Eleanor couldn't help looking whistfully after it. But she forced herself to turn back to the girl who'd bought her a drink. Don't be greedy![i] she told herself.[i] This is more than you've had in a while.

(OOC: Sorry I wasn't on guys! O.o I missed somethings...)

"But then again you may not want to be alone with the way you feel and I would enjoy your company if your Highness would be so willing." Aurora lowered her gaze.

Philip smiled at her, even though she couldn't see it with her lowered gaze. "I would be very willing, Lady Aurora." he said quietly, then offered his arm. "Would you walk with me to the gardens?"

***

Robert looked up as Joan and her friends walked in. To his consternation, they spotted him and walked over. Robert turned back towards the bar, biting his lip.

The girls gathered around him. "Oy Robert, still haven't cut your 'air eh?" Mary teased. " Ohh but it will be so much better that way to impress the Prince, maybe he'll like you so much he'll ask for your hand in marriage!" She went into a fit of giggles at the same time as Ariana and Aurora.

Robert stared at his glass, cheeks going red. If it had been a boy doing the teasing, Robert would have snapped back right then and there. But he'd always been taught that one doesn't fight with a girl and it was an ingrained part of him.

"Oh Mary, won't you leave him alone for once, what has he ever done to you? Don't listen to her Robert, she's full of horse dung." Joan said.

Robert looked at her and sent her a grateful smile, but he was still so flustered that he didn't realize the lady knight had spoken to him.

"Waiting for Luke?" Joan asked, perching on a seat next to him. "He was right behind us, probably got held back seeing an easy targer to pickpocket. Jacob, an ale and some chicken please."

Robert smiled again. "Thank you, Joan, though I probably shouldn't take too much longer." he fingered his glass and wondered if he should tell Joan his trouble. He didn't know what good it could do, but she'd always been nice to him...

The door to the pub came open and Luke walked in, uncharacteristcally quick. One of Joan's younger brother's tagged along behind him. Both looked serious.

"Luke!" Robert exclaimed, "What's happened?"

(Hey, any body who is a knight so far...I need someone to take an interest in Robert eventually; don't want him to be a stable boy forever, ya know. ^__~)

Miki and Mika stood back to back in thier high tower room, palm to palm, eyes closed, both chanted under thier breath, until thier spell was finished and they broke the circle of two. Between thier left palms was a smooth silver bangle, set with a red-black stone.
"Perfect," Miki murmered, examining braclet. "The queen will be pleased, I think. Your incantations have gotten better sister."
"Who wouldn't be pleased with a braclet that glows when people lie to you?" Mika retorted. "And my incantations have always been good, you're the sloppy one."
"We're identical," Miki reminded her. "Insulting me is like insulting yourself. This should really help the Queen in military matters."
"And choosing a husband."
"How?" Miki asked his sister. "What would a suitor lie to the Queen about?"
"Well," Mika cocked her head, thinking. "His age, he could lie about that, his fortune, relations, past marriages..."
"I guess your right," Miki sighed.
"I'm always right." Mika snorted, then turned to her twin. "Do you think we should make one for the prince?" Miki shrugged.
"Maybe we should go ask him." After a quick check in the seeing stone, they found the Prince in the gardens, with Aurora. Both raced down the stairs silently. little more than shadows in thier black clothes. Mika stopped just outside the garden gate, making Miki run into her.
"What's wrong?" he whispered.
"I want to watch them," Mika whispered back.
"You're such a little snoop."
"well, I don't see you stopping me."

((a...gee...thanks for not noticing me! j/k!...maybe Eleanor needs a big flashing sign that says "Stable Hand: Looking For Work( will work for food!)"...lol...ok maybe not.))

Eleanor drained the mug and set it down. She couldn't help listening in on the other kid's conversation. She watched as a group of girls teased one individual, giggling about his hair. She had noticed earlier he must work in a stable, but she had yet to strike up the courage to ask whom he worked for or where else she might be able to render her services. Then she noticed a red-haired boy, with a younger lad tagging along behind him. The other youth hailed him and asked, "What happened?"

((hey, Jaid, Eleanor's obviously not a knight but she could teach Robert everything he needs to know....just a thought.))

Aurora looked up to Phillip's smiling face and smiled back. "Of course." She took his arm and walked with him down the hall and out to the gardens. Outside the sun was shining brightly warming her face. The gardens were in full bloom, surprisingly since it was mid May, most of the flowers didn't bloom untill June or July.

"Do you know how long your aunt will be staying?" She said hoping to start a conversation.

After Rafe and the rest of Cassandra's guard had been shown to their barracks, a group of them decided to go to town for some drinks. A group of six of them clanked noisily down the barracks hall, loudly discussing their plans for a night of drunken debauchery. They noticed a guardsman leading a small man towards the room of the head guard, whome they'd already been introduced to. As they passed closer, they realized that the young man wasn't a man, but a woman. She'd already entered the room, but a few of the younger knights hooted and hollered at her, calling out lewd suggestions. Rafe halted their antics with a furious glance and a word. "Many pardons, milady," he said, with a wide sweeping bow. It was better to play nice and make alliances, instead of making enemies, while you had the chance to find out their weaknesses. The woman turned around startled while he spoke, but the head guard waved them off with a little smile playing on his lips. Rafe gave another little bow and walked out to the stables. They had their horses saddled and rode off in the direction of the local tavern, The Savage Wolf.

When they arrived, it was already late in the afternoon. They stabled their horses and entered the tavern. The small tavern looked clean and and well-kept. It looked small from the outside, but inside there was plenty of space for 50 or so customers. The tables were scattered around the room, with a stage in at the end of the room for entertainment. Rafe called out to the barkeep as they passed, "A round of drinks for me and my men. And throw in something to eat as well." They sat down at a long table near the end of the room. Tall mugs of ale arrived, along with a plump-faced serving girl. With a extra coin and pinch on her bottom, one of the knights claimed her as his for the night.

Rafe stretched out in his chair and surveyed the room. There seemed to be quite a variety of people here. Young and old, especially young. A group of these youngsters were clustered around together, both males and females. He caught them watching as his group entered the bar. With a nod of his head in their general direction, he downed his mug of ale and signalled for another one.

*********************************

Cassandra had toured her end of the wing and found out nothing special about that part of the castle. Already bored with the stale palace halls, she looked out of an open window and spotted a couple of people strolling around in the beautiful gardens. Looking a little closer, she realized that this must be the prince. Now here was something she could do to amuse herself. Making her way through various twists and turns in the palace, she finally reached the gardens. She patted her hair, already knowing she looked good in a dark blue velvet gown. It was edged with expensive white lace at the sleeves and throat, and cut to show off her wonderful figure. Her hair was still swept up in a coronet of braids, but the sunlight would light it up golden. Not knowing where the prince was at the moment, she struck off down a random path, hoping to bump into whoever it was in the garden.

"Will! What are you doing here, and with Luke?" Will ran up to her and started pulling on her skirt causing her to slip off her chair into a standing position.

"It's Father Joan! They took him to dungeons! Mama was sick so she couldn't do anything to stop the guards...And then the babies started crying and Father put up a fight and they had to drag him out of the house...We didn't know what to do so Mama told me to go find you! So I went to find you and I ran into Luke and he brought me here to you. Joan you have to come home and quick...The guards said that if we didn't pay our taxes in two days like everyone else that Father wouldn't live out the week!"

He had been shouting at the top of his lungs and was speaking very fast that everyone in the pub were staring at them. Joan's face was livid, her hands went clammy and she felt feverish. Why had her father not been paying the taxes? What was she supposed to do?

"I-I'll come right now, yes er, right now," she was stammering her words as Jacob placed the plate of chicken on the counter.

"Will ye be payin' for that miss, or will I be seein' ya washin' dishes in my kitchen?" Jacob inquired, with a sly grin on his face that made Joan sick to the stomach. She placed the amount of money on the counter and started to walk out, Will at her heels. Half-way to the door she turned back around.

"Luke, eat the chicken. Think of it as a thank you for bringing Will here." Without another word she left and Mary followed her out the door.

"What are ya gonna do, Joan? Without you' dad..."

"I know very well what I'm going to do Mary, but I might need your help..." Indeed she did know what she was going to do, but she had to wait for the opportune time...

Eleanor couldn't bring herself to join in the conversation, she was feeling particularly aloof. She thanked Elisabeth again and slipped quietly from her seat. The group of knights had caught her attention. Knights meant horses, and being around horses always made her feel better.Perhaps the beautiful animals would take her mind off her hunger. It seemed to her that these men didn't have plans for leaving anytime soon. She decided it was safe to slip out to the stables for a bit and take a look at their horses. As she was walking out the door she heard the little boy talking excitedly about his father having been but in prison. She paused to listen and backed out of the way to let the boy and his sister leave. She walked outside and gazed after them and suddenly she forgot why she'd gotten up....

(I'm posting some new characters. Their profiles are in the OOC.)

Elaine rubbed her temples wearily as she finished pulling out the last of Lady Cassandra's heavy dresses out of the trunk to be brushed and pressed. Sarah, noticing her tiredness, generously offered to do that last dress.

"Thank you so much, Sarah. My arms and fingers are weary from all the brushing I've been doing. I would appreciate a little bit of rest," Elaine cried, with a grateful smile.

"Well I have already finished setting up milady's dressing table. And it's much less work than what you've been doing. I've even taken a bit of fresh air, while you've been here working yourself to the bone. You deserve a break," said Sarah, reaching out to take the dress from Elaine.

"I would sorely love to sit and be idle, but we have already been cramped in that little carriage all day getting here, that I think I will take a walk. Maybe I will go down to the kitchens and find out what the schedule of the palace is like."

"How about calling for some tea for us poor weary attendants while you're there? I know Fanny, Micah, and myself would enjoy some refreshments."

"If I find my way to the kitchens in this massive place," Elaine joked. With a wave she left the rooms.

Even though Elaine was born in a genteel environment, she wasn't unused to mingling and conversing with the lower servants. It was the best and easiest way to get things done in a household, so why go through various channels when you can do it directly? The palace was definitely much larger than Lady Cassandra's manor, but Lady Cassandra's was not tiny either. Elaine had a general idea of where the kitchen was located, but she took her time getting to the first floor. Along the way she supposed she got lost, probably taking a wrong turn down one of the many corridors, because, peering out a window, she was now facing the front of the castle, instead of the back. Looking around for some parlor maid or idle footman for directions, to her surprise she found none. Wandering around some more, and feeling more foolish by the moment, Elaine found herself at the entrance to the palace gardens. Wanting to go outside, but knowing she shouldn't, Elaine contented herself by just staying near the doorway and enjoying the flowers and shrubs planted nearby.

Stephen was one of the knights that decided to join Rafe to the local tavern. He wasn't in the mood to stay indoors on such a beautiful day, and he wanted explore the area a little. He was exceedingly embarrassed at the actions of some of his companions when they were hollering at that young lady - he'd grown up believeing that you should treat a lady with courtesy and gentleness. He was glad when Rafe stopped them and they resumed their journey to the tavern.

The neighboring village was very quaint and he was interested in seeing the local sights. Maybe at the tavern he could find a few friendly people to show him around - after all the guards at the palace seemed nice enough.

He'd been in the bar long enough to look around and drink some ale when a little boy rushed in. He was shouting at the top of his lungs to his sister about what had happened to their father. Stephen could see that the girl was exceedingly embarrased, and he stood up to see if he could offer any help to them. He was already pulling out some coins to pay for the girl's meal when she slapped some onto the table. With a mumbled excuse to Rafe and the rest of the knights, Stephen made to follow the girl, but stopped when he decided that she probably did not want to be disturbed by a complete stranger. Feeling out of place just standing there, Stephen headed over towards the table that the girl just left. There was still a cluster of young men there. With a polite smile, he waved his hand over the now empty seat and asked the group, "Do you mind if I join you?"

Robert paled a little when he heard Joan's predicament. Luke's face got tight. The theif couldn't say anything though, as she slapped down money for her meal and then turned around and told him to eat it.

Luke paused, then sat on the bar and dug in.

"Luke!" Robert hissed.

"What? I'm hungry."

Robert gave him a 'You are hopeless' look, and then slid off the seat as a knight walked up.

"Do you mind if I join you?" he asked. Robert drew in a breath.

"Nah, go ahead." Luke said, glad to have company. The knight seated himself.

"Sit down, Robert." Luke prodded his friend.

"I can't. I have to get back to the royal stables." the blonde boy said. "Before I'm missed."

He turned away, pausing to look at the knights seated. He wanted to get closer, but feared being taken for a very young bar maid; it wouldn't be the first time that had happpened.

Instead, he passed by close enough to over hear them for a few moments, then slipped out the door.

Outside, Joan had all ready gone. Robert sighed; he wished he could have done something to help her, but he had no idea of what to do and knew Joan wouldn't take money, even if he had some to give.

But there was another girl here; one who looked a little lost. Robert stepped up to her, relieved to find that she was smaller than he was.

"Excuse me, but are you lost?" he asked.

The prince and Aurora walked along the garden path. Aurora silently admired the flowers. Philip, meanwhile was studying her.

'She's a very pleasent girl; and very pretty.' he thought. 'In a pinch, she might not be so bad...'

"Do you know how long your aunt will stay?" Aurora asked.

"No idea. I hope it is not long." Philip said, then laughed a little. "I suppose that is a horrid thing for me to say, but..." he shrugged.
