I started to cry when i saw that.I thought I'm the only one in here who speaks Turkish.It was soooo bad to be alone.You can pm me any time you want to practise your Turkish and for everything.

I speak lithuanian (an example is in my signature)
but I'm learnin english for 9,5 years, german - ~5,5; french -~2,5... I'm a bit language maniac now i'm trying to understand spanish, latin and norvegian. and, of course... sindarin...

I speak English as my native language. I learn French and German in school, and I can write and read Sindarin. I'm on the second lesson of the Quenya course. Does anyone here speak Welsh?? I'd like to learn it but don't know where to start.

I speak Finnish. ^^ It's my native language and I'm proud of that.
I've been studying English for *one-two-three..* seven years so this is my eight year....
This is my sixth year studying German AND fourth studying Swedish...

I only speak English :\ I studied French for 5 years in school, and passed my listening/writing/oral exams but I've just forgotten it all now O_o

I speak English natively, but I can speak German. I'm learning French, Finnish (1/4 Finnish), and Sindarin. I'm thinkignn of learning Russian after I complete my German classes.

And i've had Latin and ancient Greek way back in highschool.

And i would really want to learn Italian and Arabic! But don't have the time for that right now.

I know some Chinese,some German,some French and Spanish....but i'm not fluent in them!
I like to go around saying that i speak Sindarin and Mandarin(muahaha.I love it!).
I'm right now part of a On-Line Forum on Irish.
Any people that know Putonhua and/or An Gaelige?

English is my native language, and I'm taking Spanish classes. I still have a lot to learn.

I know how to sing 'It's a Small World After All' in Swedish!

So, the languages I speak:

Dutch (native)
Finnish, sort of (my mum is Finnish, and I'm so proud of my heritage)
German
French
3 words of Japanese
English (rather fluently, if I may say so myself)
Latin
Ancient Greek
a bit of Quenya

I would really want to learn Russian and maybe Farsi one day.

And I speak gibberish, too!

I can speak Dutch and English. And well... I'm supposed to be able to speak German and French too. The problem isn't really the speaking part, but when you say something in French, people also answer in French, and that's where it goes wrong
I can also translate Latin and ancient Greek.

I would really like to learn Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, Irish, Gaelic, Bahasa, Italian, Russian, Quenya, Sindarin and a couple of other languages I forgot to mention , yeah I know... I'm kinda a language freak

Well technically i should be bilingual being from Canada, but english is my native tongue. i do have 5 years of french to my name, i learned a bit of welsh when i was 6(i have forgotten it since...), and i'm currently learning spanish...

I'm bilangual, as my mother is Norwegian and my dad is Dutch.

So here's my list:

Norwegian (native)
Dutch (native)
English
German (I understand German perfectly well, but I'm not a fluent speaker or writer)

apart from these, there are languages I understand quite well, but I'm not qualified to speak them:
Norse (ancient norwegian)
Icelandic (which is almost the same as the above)
Swedish
Danish
Flemmish (they speak it in northern Belgium. It's almost the same as Dutch)

And then I understand some French, Spanish and Italian.

I tend to pick up languages very fast... I spaek French at home and English at university. I know some Spanish and I've started Latin (and next year I'm taking ancient Greek) I also know some ASL. I know some words of arabic because I've been to Jordan. I hope to learn a lot more though

English is my native language, coming from the USA. I can also speak a little French, only taking one year of French so far. I know a tiny bit of Quenya and Italian too. My family wants me to take Italian because they are all from Italy! I refuse...:evil: Je n'aime pas parle Italien. J'aime parle francais! (I hope my French is right!)

English is my native tongue. I took Italian for a year when I lived in New York, but my school in Connecticut doesn't offer it as an option. Now I take Latin and Spanish. I started Spanish last year because I quit chorus, so I have an extra exam. Since I started Spanish late, I'm studying over the summer to advance. I'm taking the exam in a few weeks. My dad is my tutor because he speaks fluent Spanish (and Italian, French, Portugese, Catalon, German, and English for that matter).

I really want to learn Italian again. I also want to learn Gaelic, Hebrew, and Russian (because I'm Jewish and Russian--Gaelic because its cool)

Beriedain, what kind of Gaelic? I've been interested in Manx gaelic for a while. It's dead now, but I wanted to learn it because i have Manx blood. I'm also part scottish so scottish gaelic would also be neat to learn.

I was also in a similar situation, I took German at my first high school in MO but then we moved to CT and it wasn't offered there. So I stopped taking a language. But I"m in college now and I've been taking swedish and next semester I'm looking forward to Old High German.

I've been learning Spanish for just over 3 years, and French for just over 2 years.
No pienso que bueno. Mi hermana es mas bueno que yo.
Je ne pense que je suis bon. Ma soeur es meilleure que moi.
And to prove that, I probably messed both of those lines up.

My first language is Finnish.

I've learned

(at school)
English 11 years
German 8 years
Swedish 7 years

(on spare time)
Italian 2 years
Estonian 1 year
French 1 year

and from now on my studies depend only on my willingness to learn them on my spare time... Yes, there's lots of that in me...

Well English is my first language although currently at school I am studying Spanish, as I have done for a year and a term in fact. I like writing spanish rather than speaking but I am trying to imrpove on my oral spanish. Just to prove I can write a decent phrase in Spanish...

Hola mis amigos! Me llamo Emma y donde vives en una casa en el pueblo de Thornaby. Thornaby esta situado en el noreste de Inglaterra por eso soy inglesa. Hablo el ingles y un poco epsanol. Mi cumpleanos es el veinticuatro de octubre. Tambien tengo el pelo marron y los ojos azules y soy bastante alta.

There you go! And translate that is: Hello my friends! My name is Emma and I live in a house in the town of Thornaby. Thornaby is located/situated in the north-east of England therefore I am English. I speak English and a little bit of Spanish. My birthday is 24th October. Also I have brown hair and blue eyes and I am quite tall.

Anyway... after the Christmas break all my set at school will be studying French aswell which is way cool! Although I've always wanted to learn Italian. There is just something about the language which I like. Also I'd like to study (if I have the chance sometime!) Latin, Russian, Gaelic and Japenese.

Well that's all. Wow you guys have been learning these languages for so long I feel embarassed! :blush:

English is my first language... I dont actually speak anything else properly, just french and maori badly.

No reira, tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou katoa.

that's called a mihi, it's how you introduce yourself on a marae (a meeting house) , it says who you are, where you're from, you're age and your iwi (which is like a tribe).

I could ramble in french too, but i doubt anyone needs to see my misspelt french and confused verb endings...

but i would like to learn someday:

maori

so as you can see, i'm in love with languages, and my favorite one is english (but im not as good as i want to be *~* )

My main language is English. I have been learning french for 8 years, and I can speak a little bit of Finnish (I am part Finnish). If someone is willing to teach me some more Finnish, it would make me very happy.
