Hello,
Has everyone had a great day? I did. I spent the entire (almost) day sitting on my keester watching the last 6 episodes of the first season of House. My kids got me started on it and I've found it to be very good. A bit twisted but very good. So I have been a bum.

I'm thinking of getting the mending done in the next hour or so. That way I can feel like I've accomplished something.

I could do a spot of scrapbooking too. I better clean off my desk first, though.

Later

Sigh, I wihs I had time to sit still for so long...
I'll rest my legs during class later today.

Hmmm...
not sure if the Mermaid or the 2 kids sitting on the sidewalk
dressed all in green and radaiting peace even as the begged
were the real find on saturday.
It is hard to pick between Sea Folk and Elves...

Silverleaf and I saw a 2 Wood Elves on our way home from the
bookstore on Sunday...
the first was about 6'6" dark haired male heading downhill fast
on a silver skateboard...
the second was about 6' female and following him on a silver scooter
the lightweight colapsible type you can put in a briefcase...
They both looked to be in their early twenties...
Serves us right for talking about Seelie Court and Fairie all the way
home from Powels Books!
Silverleaf thinks we should be supporting their remaking of the world
without gass guzzleing cars...
I hope our electric bikes are supportive in such!

Brandy I'm with you on the need to clean the desktop...
mine needs it bad.

It has turned cool here at night so I'll be wearing a jacket to my
evening class... still sunny in the afternoon though not hot anymore.

Emmyarwen, I'm glad you saved that old Willow Tree...
they are good to have around.

The Elves are saying Leaf Out! The Trees are Saying Branch Out!
And the Birds say The Sky Is The Limit!
Do they realize how much Work all that is?
I'm going to need a really good Root System to do all that!
Mallorn Mallorn just think Mallorn... Malinorni!
Sigh I'll be ok after a while...
Human cities are not good places for Elves.
Elven cities are another thing alltogether.
Sigh again... will walk among the Elms on the way to class.

Sorry I missed folks [you know who you are][]:love: !!!
Hope Everyones Week Is Excelent!

Don't worry about forgetting people's names, Emmy, I think we all do it from time to time. It's just good to see you here and of course the bonus is, you don't have to kiss Grima. Lol!! Good to hear of your saving of the Old Willow Tree.

But Neenime, I am a lady of good taste, whatever else could I be, being here and having all of you as my friends. And as I was meant to be a dragon, wouldn't I have the *greatest* affinity to my dear cousins. I always did wonder why I was sooooo fascinated by the beautiful creatures and hated it when everyone seemed to be against them.

And my imagination!!! Well, let's not go there. :naughty: :naughty: Keywords: Aragorn, Legolas, Éomer..... etc.... Lol!!

Brandy: You deserve to sit back and relax, my friend. My significant other is a 'House' fanatic. Hugh Laurie is just wonderful, although it took me some time to get used to his American accent, after so many years of him being Bertie Wooster and starring in Blackadder. He is an excellent actor. I think 'House' is one of the first serious roles I have seen him play, that I can remember, anyway. In the UK, he mostly appears in comedic roles.

Awelyn: Greetings to your new monitor. Lol!! I have an LCD flat screen monitor and a new computer. Have you decided about your new computer yet? To be honest, my son picked out the one I have now. He knows all about that sort of stuff.

And waddya mean....'who wrote the poem?' ME!!!! Just one of those inspirational moments. I'm happy you enjoyed it.

Cat: Wood Elves on skateboards and scooters. What a lovely image. And Human Cities *shudders* *changes thoughts to middle-earth and all things Elvish.*

Weatherwise here over the weekend, it was sunny then dull, but last night and all through the night, and today, it has persisted down, by the bucket. Luckily I live high on a hill, but Gore Brook at the bottom of my road was over its banks. Nothing serious, just a bit of a pain for walking around or wading through the gathered water.

Well, better buzz. Hi to all those that are yet to post. Grima is awaiting. Lol!!

Have a nice day, y'all.

Hot, hot, hot here yesterday. We hit a record-breaker of 94 degrees. :dizzy: If it weren't for the fact that it was October 1st, I would have turned on the air conditioning. Plus, since it isn't summer, the humidity wasn't too horrible.

We were in the largest city in the PoG and went shopping yesterday. Just looking but lots of fun. Found an absolutely gorgeous set of bedroom furniture, but unfortunately the cost of it was about 4 times what we could afford. I guess our old set will have to last a little while longer! That's okay with me as it's the spousal unit who is champing at the bit for new. Ours is perfectly serviceable and really is very pretty, so why change? Another of those immovable objects meeting up with the irresistible forces kind of a thing.

Well, it's off to the Mines of Moria and the instructing of orklings. Man, this trying to get them to revert back into elves is proving to be a challenge. Too bad it takes years to see results, and then mostly I don't as they've gone their own ways and scattered to the four winds. One can only hope for the best I guess. Good thing though, grades are all in the on line grade book and lesson plans set for this week. Well, they're set, we'll see as to whether or not they *stay* that way.

Take good care.

Monday.

Welcome back, Randiriel! I also second the request for foal photos!

Nice poem, Rose!

Tom, I post on TORC, and the spinoff boards as well; my username there is just different from my CoE nick (which I don't use anywhere else). So, I've read all about the SF moot, and boy did I wish I could have been there...

To all the teachers here, hope that the orklings behave themselves.

And, to everybody, a good beginning of another working week! (This goes for those as well who are keeping the castle at home. )

Rose, I am very impressed. I was thinking it was going to be a poet of old who wrote the poem. It was so lovely. I have not made up my mind yet but I am leaning toward the Mac.

Randi, if you are still where you can use a computer I just wanted to tell you I got your letter. It was waiting for me when I got home. It was so good to hear from you as always.

Thank you Morwin I hope you have a great week too.

Scots my goodness that is hot for October. Good luck with the orcs. My grandkids love it when I talk in my best Treebeard voice and call them little orcs. Let's hope your orcs make the transformation to Elves.

Brandywine everyone needs a day to play hooky.A day to do nothing but relax. So, good for you.

Have a good day. Ya'll MTMS is rubbing off on us.

*bows low* Thank you so much awelyn.
I am quite thrilled that you thought it was a poet of old.

Hi scots: I hope your long weekend went well. I love window shopping. And sometimes the way to get round things is to bend, like the river reed. Close your eyes, dear and conjure up images of the orclings as little angelic elves. Wow!! 94 degrees. We had a tornado off our southern coasts yesterday. I think possible that is responsible for the downpours we have been having.

Hi Morwin.

Again, a nice day to one and all.

Byeee

I can see why Rose's poem might be thought of as one written by a poet of old---it's that good! I would say that it is outstanding. Worthy of display, it is. Bravo, Rose!

It's too hot here, also! Yesterday and today it's in the low 90's. I don't like it at all. I was putting groceries in the car a while ago when I saw a man about my age struggling to change a flat tire on his van. I wanted so badly to go over and help him, (that's the way I've always been) and I nearly did but held back because I was afraid I'd do myself in. My bad heart isn't getting any better and the heat was just too much. It really sucks to be in my condition. I was relieved when I saw another fellow walk over and offer to help.

I haven't had any more of those stabbing pains on my temple, so I didn't go see a doctor this morning. I guess it's a good thing I didn't go anywhere because Tommy (my 15 yo son, I mention him so much that I may as well start using his name) called from school saying that he was feeling bad. I went and got him and he's now sleeping.

If Randi escaped without kissing Grima, it must be because we're not enforcing that rule very well. And where is MT? I think she's going to have to kiss someone very un-ranger-like. Some part Santa, part ranger, part secret agent mongrel should be just about right! Swabby

Firstly, swabby, thank you so much for your appreciation of my ditty. Secondly, the stabbing pains stop, so no doctor. Is that a typical man, or what. *shakes head*. Hope Tommy feels better when he wakes up.

Santa/Ranger/007. Lol!! Swabby, who do you mean.

Heat over your way in the US, cold and wet over here. Something in the middle would be nice.

Just checking in so there will be no kissing of unwanted Wormtongues!

Swabby, for the second time, get yourself to the doctor!

The orklings are all excited this week because it is homecoming and they are jockeying for partners or going with a herd and planning on who will dance with whom. We're also in the midst of our mythology unit and they are creating their gods/goddesses posters and finding (oh my goodness) nekked pictures of statues on the internet. My advice: draw some clothes on them if you can't stand nekked statues. (Actually, the school firewall let through some rather pornographic photos of some one called Zeus and his ahem attributes.)

Weather is warm here too. Indian summer except we haven't had a freeze yet. Yesterday, I buried the last of my perennials finally in my elvish garden---keep your fingers crossed for next spring and maybe I'll have pictures.

I'm collecting the Holiday card addresses----I'll give everyone a week or so and then send the list.

MT enters, lips puckered and eyes closed.
Okay...let's just get it over with..and quickly!

I am glad to know that field trips wear out young teachers as well, brandywine. I love the experience, but I returned drained the next day.

I know an arborist, Tom. She studied forestry at MSU (Mississippi State University) and did some studies abroad as well. She says that she's kept her eyes out for the entwives, but hasn't seen hide nor hair of them in all her travels.

Love costumes, neenime. Know that you'll look fabulous in yours. Got a catalogue today that features medieval wear, sword replicas and the like. Now I want to get busy writing my list of "goodies" that Santa will bring me. As I've said before, I've been a verrry good girl this year.

I would have LOVED the heavy metal band, Jess. Did they do cover songs or origional material? Glad to know that lots of $ was raised for your friend. Prayers for her continuing.
Oh, by the way, I DO have Viggo/Aragorn...in my own special way.:love:

I also post on TORC, morwin. The moot I went to in Michigan this summer was with some of the gals of the Middle aged crazies that I hang out with there. They're alot like you folk here, except there are NO GUYS on their thread!

Love your autumn faerie poem, Rose. You are very talented in word-smithing.

Great ranger poem, HT. I have a burning desire to visit Edingurg, especially if rangers are about. Come along, Mith. I wouldn't want to leave you behind.

How wonderful to have a new monitor, awelyn. I'm sure that you're enjoying it!
I bet that your grandkids had as much fun with you as you did with them! You're a fun granny!!
Well shut my mouth and throw me in the briar patch, you think I'm rubbing off on ya'll???

MT runs off before anyone realizes that she hasn't kisssed ANYONE!!

Can't believe its October already. The forest here is looking lovely. All sorts of beautiful colours from yellows to reds. I do love the fall/autumn. Definitely having a mini heat wave today. Totally unseasonable weather for Thunder Bay, but is it ever nice.

So glad you saved the willow Emmy. I think maybe you could have been an Entwife in another reality.

MT: I think the band at the benfit just played covers, but as my tastes run more to Enya, I just really would'nt know! Thanks for the continued prayers, she is sure going to need them.

Rose: Envy anyone who can write beautiful poetry. It stirs something in the soul.

Went out and spent the bucks today. Had to buy a new wall unit as my old one will definitely not fit in the new place. The move is getting closer, October 29 and I will be so glad to have it over with. In a weird sort of way, I'm finding it a really freeing process parting with the STUFF. I need the new start and the new beginning.

I do envy all of you who go to the Moots and Ren Faires. I think we have a beautiful setting for one right here on the big lake. Neenime you have got to agree! I would love to be able to start something up, but honestly would have no idea how to go about it. Anyway it will give me something to think about over the winter.

Wow, you lot sure can post a lot when one doesnt visit for a day of two.
Now I think I have caught up reading...
Jess, so glad your friend is doing alright. I will pray for her as well.
I would love to see a pic of your welcome sign when it is finished.
Mith, Scots....I still am so happy your meet went well. I thought it would as I imagine all of us in a moot would have a grand time.
Rose, I must have missed that before about your dragon appendages, too! wowsers! huh...anyway, I absolutely love your poem. You indeed are talented.
Cirdaneth, I am so happy you found your way to the fof forum safely. Rasberries...yum, just had some rasberry jam on my toast. We must try to convince a certain dragon to try to join us in a meet up soon. We dont live that far from each other.
Emmy, love your tree story. When I walk through the woods, I definitely know that those trees are living and I can almost feel that they are watching the world silently in their not so hasty grandeur.
Swabby, go to the doctor! Dont you know we would rest better knowing our own ranger is in good health? By the way, that peach pie sounds yummy. Hope Tommy is feeling alright. My youngest son is the same age, and I can just picture that plank walk.
Tom, and who could be a better arborist than Old Tom Bambadil himself? I think you would be the man for the job.
Neenime, cant wait to see your costume.
Vicarcat, you are ever so busy in your work and concern for others. Glad you found a lovely treasure in that jewelry.
Randi, good to hear from you and how exciting about the new farm baby! would love some photos!
Morwin, when I attended the Tolkien weekend in spring, I spoke to some lovely people from the Tolkien society ( and I got a nice Tolkien society fleece as well ) I would love to join that I think. Great group there.
Awelyn, aahhh, nice you had a lovely visit with the grandchildren. How lucky they are to have such a grammy!
I hope I havent left anyone out. Its hard to remember that much. Also its 6:55 in the a.m. in the UK, but I am in early at work today so I must post now or have to keep hiding from a certain vile creature.
Have a good morning, and I do mean that in every way...I wish you a good morning and it is a good morning wether you want it or not, and I do feel a good this morning, and its a morning to be good on...(its fun reading the Hobbit again)
later mellyn!

A good morning to everyone. I am just happy that my poem was enjoyed.

Not a lot to say at the moment, but prayers to those that need them. And I have to say I am in some little shock over the news of those poor Amish children. I could weep for the little girls. What is happening??? My mind hurts with the anguish I feel for all those caught up in wars, famines, unwarranted killings.

I saw a poster once, can't remember exactly where, but that doesn't matter really.

It was just a one-liner, a quote from God: 'Don't make me come down there!'

Blessings my friends.

Hello one and all: It sure doesn't pay to skip a few days posting. It's 3:41 a.m. on Tuesday October 3 (already).
I'm sleepy but my brain keeps giving me background info and won't let me go back to sleep. Hate it when the mind won't shut off.

My orklings have never really been orklings. They are so cute I'd have to call them all hobbit children.

Rose: I'd love to see Hugh Laurie in some other programs. It is amazing to me the talent these people have to don a certain personality and then to be someone else entirely different in the everyday world. Also, I too loved your poem. Reminds me of one I wrote that is posted on my personal bulletin board near my desk in the classroom. I'll have to remember to copy it down. It's nowhere near as good as yours but it's not bad.

Have a great day everyone

My heart is breaking too! It hit rather close to home for me too having just recently come from a one-room school house. I saw my old partner-in-crime in class last night and gave her big hugs and told her I was so glad she was safe. Now, I don't think that something of this sort will happen there, but then again, neither did those poor people. Such a sad, tragic waste. Taking a 20 year old grudge out on 7 year olds????!! It makes my blood boil! Better hop down of that soapbox before I give myself a migraine.

Nothing else much happening here on the oh, so hot PoG. It was hot enough yesterday that when I came home from class last night the spousal unit had turned on the air conditioning. That's a shock! We've had it off for probably at least a month. He's one that doesn't turn it on for anything. LOL I'll have to say that it was nice sleeping in the cool of the air conditioning last night.

Rose, I was remiss in telling you how much I liked your poem as well! I am ever amazed at your writing abilities!

Well, I've waffled on long enough. Hugs to all.

The Amish tragedy just breaks my heart. What kind of person is prepared to be so cold-blooded and destructive? He had to be one *^(# -ed up person. That community needs all our prayers. And imagine the shame and humiliation of the perpetrator’ family? What a horrible burden to put on them.

I agree that this is a time I would rather be in Middle Earth, Might have to visit there for respite, to find the strength and hope to keep facing these things. We also lost another young man from our community in Afghanistan. Too much pain and destruction in the world!

Scots and Swabby. My goodness, it’s hot there! Are you sure that Sauron hasn’t opened a branch operation near you?

Rose: Hugh Laurie in BLACKADDER! Of course! THAT’S where I know him from! I watch HOUSE now and again, but am struggling between wanting to slap his character upside the head and seeing the pain and loneliness behind the obnoxious behaviour. It’s certainly a lot better than those foolish “reality” shows.

Jess - see your PM for an invitation.

Let's all take a moment for gratitude about our own safety and for the that of our loved ones.

Oh Rose what is the world coming to and why is it always the children that seem to be the target. I get angry and frustrated that I can't stop it. Such stupidity and hatred. Hate is such a devourer it changes the person into something that even loved ones don't recognize. It breaks my heart.

Jess we are having very strange weather too. It is very hot here for October. I have never been to a Ren fair or moot either but would love to go to one. It sounds very nice at Thunder Bay with your lake.

Calle, you should get a medal for your memory. What a memory! My head was spinning with the good morning sentence. :dizzy:

Scots it is strange we are having such hot weather so late in the year. I am glad your teacher that you worked with is doing ok. You have a good day.

Brandy it must be stress keeping you from your sleep. I hope you sleep tonight. Have a good day.

MTMS I won't tell anyone about that kiss since my Saturday post was never posted either mum is the word. Shut my mouth and throw me in a briar patch, come on you had to make that one up.

Neenime ,yes I agree we should all take a moment and be grateful for that safety. I felt so safe as a child and nothing ever happened like shootings at schools. What a tragedy indeed. Have a good day.

Swabby it is hotter there where you live but I would be glad for a respite and some cool weather.

I think you have a valid reason for the boiling blood, Scots. It makes my blood boil too. I don't know how anyone could be so twisted as to take out their sick revenge on children. And there have been three of these incidents in the last few days here in the US. Will we have to build a huge wall around every school and place armed guards at the gate? I'm for it if that's what it takes to stop this madness. It just burns me up to think that the two Jonesboro shooters are apparently out of custody now and living free. If it had been up to me, they would have never seen freedom. Anyone who commits those kind of violent acts against children, regardless of their age at the time of the offense, should stay locked up forever.

Well, I guess that rant wasn't very humorous, so let me talk about this funny weather. It's funny-wierd, not funny-haha. We were having beautiful, fall-like weather, but now the ac is on again and it's hot!

You ladies are right, as always. I admit that I am a male who prescribes to the "It's only a flesh-wound, I've had worse" philosophy. I'm very cautious about anything to do with my heart, but when it concerns my other parts, like my head, (which is known to be quite indestructable) I guess I've yet to learn my lesson. Hey, y'all wouldn't love me if I shed all my manly attributes.

Brandy, you need to take note of the food and drink you ingest during the evenings to see if there's something there that could be affecting your sleep. If it's the "racing brain" thing, I occassionaly suffer from that also and know no way of dealing with it other than displacing those thoughts with thoughts of something else. That's hard for me to do and I only have limited success at it. Perhaps a nice, relaxing back rub by a Ranger, followed by a game of patty-cake would do it. Yes, that is my recomendation to you for a restfull night's sleep.

I think you could use almost any fruit to make that upside-down cake thing, calle. I might try making it with pears since they are ripe right now. I don't know about the UK, but we can get an upside-down cake mix in the stores here that I think you could use and just substitute most any fruit in place of the pineapple.
I let my son stay home from school. I woke him up early to see how he felt and he claimed he still felt lousy.

Mrs Swabby has a bad habit of just getting tired of our furnishings and wanting new ones. I don't know how many perfectly good couches, love seats, nightstands, coffee tables, end tables, etc we've given away to make room for new ones. The latest item to come under her attack is the dining room set. It's in near perfect condition, but has fallen out of favor with her. And what is it's crime? "You picked it out", so she says. I don't remember "picking it out", but I guess that's justification enough in her mind. You gals aren't like that, are you? Swabby

It blows my mind when I think of somebody lining up little kids and executing them. I cannot imagine how terrified they must have been, without crying. He obviously cared nothing for what his family and the families of the little ones would go through. Revenge never works. For all the real and imagined slights we receive, most of us put them behind us and get over it. Nursing a grudge for 20 years is a sure hate builder. Scots, my heart goes out to you. I think this probably hits you more than any other FOFer. :sob:  Whatever set this bucket of ******* off, there is always another solution! Having had that little rant, I feel a little better. Just don't get me on to the subject of school bullying. I went through some of that, as I'm sure do lots of people and I nursed some pretty horrible thoughts towards the people who made my life on occassions - hell. But the last thing in my brain was going and shooting up a lot of innocent people, just to take out my angst on the system. Better get off my soapbox, I am so angry about all this!

Anyway, on to nicer things. Swabby: Get thee to the doc ASAP. Tell Mrs Swabby that I'm on her side with the furniture thing. You know the saying, "A change is as good as a rest." Well it applies to everything, keeps us from getting bored.

Awelyn: Thunder Bay is on the northern half of Lake Superior and we have beautiful park right on the shore. Also have a lovely inland lake right here in the city. Both sites would be perfect for Ren Faires. Now, whether we will actually ever have one - I live in hope.

Neenime has invited me over for LOTR fest this Friday. I'm so looking forward to seeing the stone circle and sharing the movies with a fellow fan and her friend.

Everyone make the best of this tragic day. Give your kids extra hugs and lots of love.

So many posts to catch up on! Had trouble with the COE site yesterday and gave up. Do I still have to kiss Grima?

What a sad tragedy when children have to suffer. It breaks my heart also. And as Neenime said, the tremendous burden it places on the family. So much pain and suffering in this world that touches so many lives. It all seems so senseless and difficult to understand how anyone could hurt a child. Are some people just born evil or what?

It is indeed hot here on the POG, Scots. We have had our air conditioning on we get the afternoon sun and it gets quite warm on the 3rd floor here. Was out quite a bit yesterday and felt it later, seems the heat drains the energy.

Swabby, I can relate to the furniture thing. Over the years we have given much away although not for exactly the same reasons. TV's, for newer, bigger and better; recliners as he is quite heavy and broke his; computer desk as he was impatient and broke it trying to take it apart for a move; and so on.

Brandy, hope you can get some good sleep. One thing that sometimes helps when the mind is racing is to think of something rather boring and try to dwell on it.

Well had best get my errands done before the day heats up. Hope everyone is having a grand Tuesday. Think I'll run and hide behind MT, sorry about your luck, Grima.

Thoughts and prayers for safety and God's protection to all the teachers and their students and families everywhere.

Hi everyone

I read the story in my paper this morning about the school shooting. My thoughts go out to all the families of these poor girls It does happen in the UK as well I don't know if you heard about the Dunblane shootings which happened quite a few years ago. It prompted a tightening of gun control laws and increased school security but no system is ever foolproof. Why do ordinary people need guns though? It is certainly the case in this country that you have much more stringent controls over guns and you cant just buy them anywhere. I don't know anyone who owns a gun and I like it that way. I agree that farmers need them but over here even the police aren't routinely armed but I suspect that will not be the case for much longer. Can I get off my soapbox now and move to middle earth?

Swabby take care of your health if you want to wake up with a pulse.

Love and hugs to you all.

My heart goes out for the victims of the school shooting, too. I wonder what was the background of it - there hasn't been much in our news yet.

Just want to add my prayers and condolences for the families and community of those poor children. Dont even get me started... I'm old testament as far as punishment goes. An eye for an eye.... Something has to stop all this madness.
Sadly, I think that sign you saw, Rose, is the only hope left.

Jess you're so right about school bullying. It's one of those insidious evils that we need to pay more attention to. If we nipped it in the bud and encouraged more cooperative behaviour, there would be fewer probelms later. Or so I hope.

You are quite right about the beauty of this place. It is under-developed enough that there would be lots of places to have something like a Renn-Fest. Unfortunately people see it as very remote and therefore expensive to travel to. And the mosquitoes and blackflies might scare them off in some seasons. Ahh, but I shouldn't be such a nay-sayer. A fest or moot might happen here, yet.

Swabby I'm with you. I have a husband who is a real spend-thrift. His mother is a compulsive shopper and I think he inherited some of those tendecies. I'm from the "If it ain't broke, don't throw it out." school, which can have its disadvantages, too.

As for not liking the set because you picked it out -hmmm, I don't like the sounds of that at all. The therapist in me would have lots to say about THAT one in a session. But here, I'm just little ol' me, so mum's the word.

I feel the same as you do, HT. I don't understand the need for guns in this day and time. It sickens me to think of the pain that so many are going through due to one man's sick thoughts and actions. How self-centered of him. May God deal with him justly!!

Appreciate those prayers for safety in schools, mith. You never know what can happen there, even at a school like mine with just kindergarten and 1st grade students.
If I must kiss Grima, you come stand beside me and he'll get a double treat! Two for one! He'll never have it so good!!

Take care of yourself, Dr. swabby!! We shieldmaidens don't want anything to happen to our "ranger." Hey, I like that prescription that you gave brandywine. Do you have your writing pad handy???

Didn't make up that phrase, awelyn. It's from the story of The Tar Baby, when B'rer Rabbit (covered in tar) pleads with B'rer Fox not to throw him in the briar patch (B'rer Rabbit's home). Loved reading the Uncle Rhemus tales when I was a young'un!
Come with me to Hammond, LA for the Lousiana Renaissance Festival. Here's the site: www.la-renfest.com. Think I'll be going in the mid-later part of the month. Love the glass blowing, jousting and shopping not to mention men in leather and chain mail.:evil:

We are a very chatty bunch here, calle. Perhaps that's true because we feel comfortable with each other to discuss most everything.

"Clearing out" is something I find of great value, Jess. It's both cleansing and freeing to me. Hate the idea of things owning me. Also like the extra space and ease of finding things that comes along with "purging". Hope you find freedom in your efforts.

Had a laugh on myself today. I was talking with one of my students who was helping do a classroom chore. She was acting silly and not getting the job done. I told her that if those behaviors continued, I would fire her and give the job to someone else. After saying those words, I heard a loud intake of breath and an "un-uh!" "We don't fire folks at school!" My very own words had come back to haunt me from the youngster who fired me (twice) , himself and the handrail. Never a dull moment "where I live"!

Yes MT, I agree. I certainly feel 'at home' here. I also agree about the feeling of clearing things out. It makes life simpler in respect to just items. There are certain things that are real treasures to keep, other things that you dont really need just clutter up your treasures.
Very Autumnal feeling here today. But nice... very fresh.
Thats funny, MT, about the little boy. Sounds like someone had atalking to him about 'firing' people.
Swabby, dont forget your dining set could be a treasure, sold to someone at a bargain price, that doesnt have one. Then at least it also helps defray the cost of a new one.
HT, I agree. Cant see the reason for guns. Despise the things. As a believer that animals have souls as well, I cant see hunting for sport either and taking their lives. No one on this earth can convince me that they dont have feelings and have fear, and grieve for their murdered loved ones. Muurrrderers!
Ok, off my soapbox.... Sorry, just someone that I cant understand and it hurts me to no end.
Middle of the week now, so hope you all have a pleasant and safe day.

the deaths of the children at those 3 schools that have been the sights of killings in the last week is tragic.
Along with the prayers for the families I'd like to ask for a prayer for Barry...
his heart surgery is at 6am PST [the same time as Seattle and San Francisco].

Not much to say other then that...
it was gray today and it rained in the afternoon.
The class trip to Join was enlightening... but I don't think I can do volunteer work for them because I have morning classes lasting til 2pm and they are open 10 am to 2 pm.

Grima you had better already have taken your evening bath!
No kisses til you are squeeky clean!
Sigh what I have to do because I have a monday night class. :banghead:

I hope folks get good rest and that the week goes well...

Hi.

I'm a 'move stuff around' person. Ian, my fella, always wonders if he has come into the right house, when he gets home from work. Lol!! I think my daughter has inherited the trait, too. Sometimes, I have to really control myself, as I could cheerfully chuck *everything* out. I suddenly feel so closed in and cluttered. :twitch:

Cat: I will add Barry to my prayers.

Calle: I agree about hunting for sport. Nevery could get my head round that .. it being brave and exciting. What's exciting about being behind a high-powered rifle and blowing some innocent creatures brains out!! Hunting for food, yes, and to clothe yourself, but not for fun.

Oh, I read in the paper about the shooter in Nickel Mine. Poor lad was 'tormented'. Now don't you just feel so sorry for him!!

Sorry *also puts soap box away*.

Awelyn: I read your post in the Book Club. Are you enjoying it. It's interesting isn't it. It's good when a bit of a discussion gets going.

Well the rain is still persisting down. Tomorrow I have workmen coming to put in a new bathroom and plaster my Kitchen ceiling. Oh!! *holds head* Disruption. I hate disruption!!. Lol! And my cats are going to freeeaakkk!!

Ta ta for now.

Hugs waiting for those yet to post, and I think Grima is in the bath tub. Lol!!

Yes, Rose I am enjoying it. I also think I will learn more about the Hobbit with the discussion. I loved the illustrations also. Oh your poor cats but a nice face lift for your bathroom and kitchen.

Calle, my husband is a hunter but he eats what he kills but I don't like it. I have never eaten anything he has killed. I think it is different if you are starving and need the food but hunting for sport it makes me sad.

MTMS, well that student learned you can't fire people at school.LOL Kiss Grimma yuck but you have to do what you have to do and I remember that saying now. But it did sound like something you would say. Have a good day at school.

Take care Cat and get some rest. I will pray for Barry.

Neenime I agree with you about not liking something because someone has bought it or maybe Mrs. Swabby meant she wanted to be there when that piece of furniture was bought. When I was a little girl I was bullied by a bully. He would beat me up everyday for no reason . One day after school my mom saw me after a beating and called my teacher and the principal. They took care of the problem but I can still remember that fear. It was awful. I took a few karate lessons from my dad after that but never used them. Have a good day.

Cat: Will definitely be praying for Barry today. Hope he gets through everything really well and is on his feet again soon.

Hunting is not something I would enjoy. A couple of my friends are hunters and they do use the meat for the year (usually moose). They tell me that there are a lot of starving bears around here, since the spring bear hunt was cancelled. Not enough food to go round apparently. The bear cub we had at camp raiding and eating the paintballs in the shed, was so thin and not the first bear I've seen that was in need of a good feed. I still think it was sad that we ended up having to shoot him.

Still have to get back into the Hobbit. Time is flying away from me much too fast.

MT. The ren fayre looks like a lot of fun. Hope you have a great time. Can I come?

Well, it looks like a lovely day outside. Better go enjoy it and then pack a little more and get rid of a little more.

It *was* a shame to have to shoot the cub, Jess, but perhaps the lesser of two evils. A quick death rather than a lingering one. My uncle hunted when he was in Kenya with the Army, but would only shoot for food when they were on maneouvres, never for trophies.

I can come to terms with culling, although the seal cub thing is a subject I would rather not touch. Waaaay too emotive. But sometimes it is necessary to keep down the numbers.

However, having said *that*, I sometimes wonder just who we humans think we are, to decide which animals should live and which should die. And usually, culling is to protect *our* survival under the pretext sometimes of keeping the herds or whatever healthy.

The earth and her inhabitants seemed to manage perfectly well before our species stood on their hind legs.

Rant over. Lol!! Sorry. Seems the soap box has been used overmuch today.

Oh, I went shopping in Rohan at weekend. Yes, unfortunately the shop in Manchester. Lol!! But I did treat myself to a neckwarmer, a crushed rasberry colour with runic symbols all over it and the name 'Rohan' around the edges. So when I feel the urge, I can put it on, wave my sword and should 'Forth Eorlingas!!'

Apparently the shops/Company have been called 'Rohan' for 32 years. So not just jumping on the bandwagon.

Have a nice day ya'll.

Hugs and blessings
