Hello guys n gals,
Back after a very busy week with schools and doctors, and a very busy weekend in the garden!
We have had a week of seeing specialists and we finally have a full diagnosis, so that has made life a lot easier. Some of the pressure is off now we know what we are dealing with.
Whoa, I am going to have to try to get on site more often, it takes me two hours to read the posts and take notes every time!

Awww Swabby, thanks for remembering me:love: Not orcs or PC this time, just a bit dazed and confused! By the way, from an earlier post, the male menopause is a fact you know, so go brother! Cry with the rest of us!

Good luck with the packing Mith, it's a pain when re-vamping everything, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.

I am so glad I am not alone with my double life Calle. I thought I was the only obsessive! Obviously, I am right at home here. Congratulations on your new job! Brilliant news!

And on the subject of brilliant news, Congratulations Brandy!

Virtuelle, let the ME fanatic side flow, it's brilliant! I would love to play on line with my boys, but my computer isn't high enough speck, they have the big 'gamers' like NASA!

Whoops! I shall call her 'that elf' from now on Roger, thanks for the warning! I don't want to upset MT, especially as I am on her side!
Thanks MT for the lovely comment about me being a supportive mum, that meant a lot:heart:

Glad you are winning the battle Cirdaneth, it really is a stinker. Thinking of you.

Scots, I LOVE thunderstorms too! I go out in them, but have only been lucky enough to feel the 'burn' of lightening twice. I am obsessed with storms. Nice one with the CD's. I borrowed a couple of HP ones from a friend and they were great. Love HP!

Grumpy Gondorians! I thought it might be just Ringwraiths or the odd Sauron, Awelyn! Thank you as well for the mother support, I appreciate it loads.

On that subject, you are right, Neenime, and Jon sees that too, bless him. My other son Wayne has had problems with bullies at school, and he has had a tough time. He was very supportive of Jon too, and said like you, that they are not worth the effort of getting upset over.

Glad you had a good trip Morwinyoniel and you were able to see some sights while you were there.

Hi Beth, nice to meet you. I am 41 year old mother of two boys, married to a Ringwraith, obsessed with the Silmarillion and LOTR, enjoy painting amongst other things and reading anything Tolkien related.

Hello Rose, HT, Dimple and everyone else.

Will be back as soon as time allows,
Take care one and all,

Love and hugs,

You see Swabby, you think of someone and they appear. Pertaining to arienelle, of course, not myself.

Good to see you arienelle and hope my dragon fire reached the relevant horrors who upset you son. Grrrrrr. People can be so mean. I hate to see my kids upset too. Heaven help them when they do.

Not long now until my trip to the US. Watch the skies, everyone, dragons be a'coming.

A very happy birthday, Mith. Sounds as though you had a good one.

Hugs to all and take care.

We've seen it! Oh yes we have, my precious. It's ours, it is. Eastern Promises and the tattooed nekkid man are ours, precious.
I'm with-holding further comment so that I won't "spoil" anythig for those of you who may see it. I liked the story very much, though I did have to turn my head at some of the violence on the screen. Viggo was fabulous, especially seeing the tattoos all over his magnificent frame.:love:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MITH!!!
I'm raising my glass of Dr. Pepper in your honor. May all your days be blessed.
We'll raise something besides soft drinks next year!! :disco:

I'm so glad that you have a full diagnosis, Arienelle. Knowledge is empowering. You are a warrior for you son. I knew that I saw some shieldmaiden qualities there!

My eyes will be searching the skies for dragons flying overhead, Rose. May your flight be smooth and storms flee before you.

Watched Fellowship today and fell in love all over again with Aragorn.:heart:

If my architect son designed a Minas Tirith style castle for me to live in, could you oversee the construction, Roger? And I want those bathrooms up to date, not 3rd age style.
I would have parties and gatherings regularly and invite you all to come. Swabby would be the head chief, with help from some "cooking gals" (you know who you are). Shieldmaiden practice would be held on Saturday afternoons in the garden. Ranger stalking would be immediately following.

A Minas Tirith mansion would be beautiful but as I have mobility issues, all that going back and forth through the levels would get really tiring so I think I'd prefer something along the lines of Rivendell.

arienelle, a board I used to post a lot on was pretty much taken over by people who proudly called themselves grammar nazis and would launch onto the slightest typo, spelling or grammatical error anyone else posted. It doesn't matter much what anyone says, they are more interested in how they say it. Needless to say a lot of people left altogether and some, like me, post only occasionally, more or less to let them know we won't be run off.

swabby, be careful about giving in to that cute litle voice. Before you know it it'll be Papaw, take me to the dealers and buy me a new car!

MT, you are bad. Nekkid kings with tattoos? I'm in! I've watched the trailers and it looks good. I love thrillers. Of course, I squirm and get all scared, but that's the fun of it.

Rose, I will have my flame-retardant directional flags out so that when you land it will be a simple matter to see me from the sky. A good time will be had by all.

Tomorrow is parent of orklings/teacher of orklings conferences. Oh, joy. I don't know if I can stand that much joy in my life. *sigh* At least I have really good kids this year with the possible exception of "maybe" one...and even she isn't horrible...just messed up. Parents--gotta smack them about the head and shoulders sometimes for screwing up their kids. Too bad we can't do that.

Got an installation date for the counter tops. October 8th! Yahoo! They'll be done by the time a certain dragon and friends land in my front yard. :disco:

Well, allergy meds have kicked in and bed calls. It's going to be a l-o-o-o-n-g week. Conferences tomorrow night and Thursday night. But on the bright side---no school on Friday. Yay!

Have a good week!

AWELYN:Your twin grandchildren are lucky, are they hobbit too!!!! That's what happen to my Boxer 2and a halh years ago.The vet coul'nt find anything after many and many tests. She asked us if we wished to continue because there was a chance of never finding the illness. We felt guilty, we had to stop, it was getting too costly. We decided to keep him comfortable until the end.It is how it goes and it is very sad. I wish and hope the vet find a cure for your dog.

MTMS:NORMAL!!!!! What is normality?Just good intentions to look best in front of the so called''normal''people!Pleaaaaaaase, MT, DON'T be normal, you won't be yourself if you do!
I'm so please someone has a sense of sacrifice Oh! How I ENVY you my good friend :drool:I would love to cook in your Minas Tirith style kitchen.Would it be possible to have sone Kitchen Aid appliances?

BRANDY:Congrat! how wonderful, a new baby is a real delight.I wish I could be a grandmother but my daughter has no intention so far of serious relationship and having a baby, pityEnjoy the little sweet heart. How is your daughter?

ROSE: No chance of flying over Québec?Oh I WISH!! By the way, nice cake

MITH: Happy birthay  May all your wishes be fulfilled!

CELEBRIAN:I would have a hard time posting on this grammar nazis's board.I make a lot of mistake when I write english because I learned it by myself and I don't know any grammar at all.And with the years, and being here, I can learn more and improve myself and my skills. No, I don't think that board will suit me

SCOTS:Try to eat apples ,fish, dark green veggies, ginger.Apparently the're good to alleviate allergy symptoms.

CIRNADETH: get better soon

It's been a sunny, very windy week-end.One of my maple tree has no more leafs!I worked in the garden cutting flowers and started to put my bedding plants to sleep for the winter I'll do a little bit until the end of october and then it will be ''kiss goodbye'' until next year.
Have a nice monday, all

Dimple, I don't go there much but there are still a few people I don't want to lose touch with entirely. I have been a member of that forum for a lot of years and it's hard to just quit altogether. But, as I said, I don't go there all that much any more.

Does anyone know if something has happened to this site? I had a hard time getting it to open and when it did I had to log in all over again. It might just be yet another problem with my antique computer.

Happy Birthday, Mith, a little belated!

Swabby, I sure tried some paella; a vegetarian version though, because I felt that I needed something lighter after all the ham and chorizo sausages  that I had eaten earlier that day. It was delicious.

Celebrian, it might be that the site had a temporary hiccup - or, it can be your computer. At the moment, the site works fine for me at least.

Finally, we've got some dates for the move of our lab. We will start on Oct 8.

Celebrian, I couldn't even find the site this morning. Also, If I'm still on this side when grandaughter gets old enough to ask me for a new car, I might just have to oblige her.

I hope you and the others have a safe trip across that big pond, Rose. Also, I hope no one hassles you about coming into this country. As far as I'm concerned, dragons are most welcome here and might even bring us good luck. If you decide to take a little jaunt down to Dixie, I'll slip some extra chicken on the barby fer ye. Heck, If I had wings like you, I'd go visit Dimple in Quebec, pick up some of her baked goods, then come on down here and share them.

MT, I do hope Viggo didn't get those tattoos for the same reason Twiggy did. You know, so you could tell which side was armed and dangerous?

How nice to see you Arienelle! I shall have to call you more often, now that I know it works!

Some of my son's school chums(7 of them) were out joy-riding last Friday in a mini-van and rolled it. One of them broke his arm, one lost hair and skin off of the side of his head when the window blew out and he scraped his head on the road, and the driver (who was the only one wearing her seatbelt) got bumps and bruises, as did most of the others. They were all very lucky. I don't let my son ride with teenagers, and now he knows why.

Have a bearable Monday! Swabby

Apparently, the server crashed, but it's ok now.

Aaaw, Dimple and swabby, I so wish I could see everybody. *cry*. But I will be thinking of each of you. Ya think people will be brave enough to hassle a dragon, swabby. Lol!!

Ouch on your son's school chums, swabby, and seems he has a very sensible Dad.

Bye for now

Apparently the site went down last night and Riv tried to fix it, but was falling asleep, so she sensibly went to bed. Hence the long wait for those of us on this side of the pond.

Having got back to CoE and checked out the Forums, I watched a Poirot DVD while I had my tea after which my computer started acting strangely, and I had to use “zer leetle grey cells” myself. . It’s taken me all evening to find out what was wrong. First of all I thought nothing was responding at all. I switched off, rebooted, same trouble. Some response, but very unreliable. I managed to get at System Restore … no luck … undid the restore … it seemed that the mouse-clicks worked sometimes, but not others, couldn’t figure it out. Unable to double-click at all, I couldn’t go on-line. Put in fresh batteries. No change. Reinstalled the drivers. No change. Finally, completely by accident, I discovered that the mouse worked if I held the button down hard. I’ve changed the speed of the double-click to fastest and that got me on line again. I think my mouse is just plum wore out! The mechanical link between the button and the electronics isn’t making the instant connection it once did. … Same as the rest of us I suppose. LOL

I do hope you and Magoleth have a wonderful trip Rose. No wonder you’re excited.

I’m still coughing, but feeling a lot clearer in the head. I am also mightily relieved right now as I thought the pooter might have developed a hardware conflict, and I would spend tomorrow in a tangle of wires, unplugging all my peripherals and reinstalling them one by one. So now I’m off to see what my Argos catalogue has in the mouse/keyboard line.

G’Night all!

Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes. Rose, I absolutely loved the cake! Awesome, it was. Not sure when you are leaving but want to wish you and Magoleth and safe and fun trip. What lair (airport) are you flying into?

Somehow I missed your post about visiting Barcelona, Morwin. Sounds like lots of fun, seeing some sights and all. Do you do much work related travel?

Love your idea of the Minas Tirith mansion, MT. Especially the parties and the ranger stalking. And of course, Swabby's cooking!

Scots, your kitchen is going to be beautiful when it is done. I loved how you tied it all together with the stainless steel appliances. Would love to see a pic when it is done.

Hubby started night shift and the 72 hour work weeks today. Should be used to him away as he's been staying in Michigan several nights a week but somehow it is too quiet. No TV blaring, hobbit hunger attacks, loud snoring or other bodily sounds.

The repair work has been delayed. That's a whole other story but hopefully it will be underway soon.

Have a blessed week everyone. :  heart:

Hey everyone,
I think I am finally coming out of my sleep deprivation/deliriously happy grandma mode. I am back to work full time and missing my baby. I got to see him everyday so far but it's not the same as being there. And of course I have a new screensaver and new photo on my cell phone. I am going to try to attach a link here to the photo. I will have to check out how first and then edit my post.

Glad to see you are mostly all well. I'm sorry for those who are experiencing any kind of illness or misfortune. I took the time to read all the posts but didn't take notes for replies.

Welcome to any new people.

Here I am again, only a day missed out! Not bad for me eh?
Obviously, it does work to call me Swabby! It's nice to be missed, makes me all warm and glowey inside!

Thanks for the Dragon fire Rose, nice one! Could you please send another blast to the little******'s who are bullying my youngest at school because he has Tourettes syndrome? They are making his life hell because he is 'different' and makes involuntary noises and twitches, like the poor kid hasn't't got enough on his plate with his brother being ill. I now have him off school too with anxiety and depression.
Phew, life is tough at the moment.

Happy Birthday Mith! I maybe a little late but congrats all the same.

Count me in for Gondor, MT! Just what the doctor ordered. A dream come true that would be. Place me anywhere you like, I can turn my hand to most things, though maybe I would fit in best in the Houses of Healing, as I am a therapist. Thinking again, with the mood I am in at present, point me towards the armories!

Good for you Celebrian. Jon did the same thing and made new friends on line - then he met up with his old friends and just 'cyber-stared' them out! Very cool!

Hope the conference goes OK Scots. I get what you are saying about parents messing up their kids. I could take my sword to a few of those parents who's kids are bullying my Wayne right now. Obviously messed up families for sure. Got to pity them really I suppose, but I am just too protective of my boys for my own good sometimes. * sits sharpening blade of favorite Rohan sword*

Dimple, your English is brilliant! I would not have believed it was not your first language if you had not told me. It's better than mine, and English is all I know! I really admire anyone with multi-language skills as I am hopeless! I may have a go at Elvish one day though.

Glad you are feeling more like it Cirdaneth. Keep resting as much as you can.

Looking forward to seeing your new little treasure Brandy, sorry I cant help you with getting a photo on line, I am absolutely hopeless with computers!

Have a good day everyone,
Love to all,

Arienelle, How awful for your son. A child should look forward to school not dread it. Sometimes also it's the parents that ignore their children and act indifferent that the child will do anything for attention. Have you talked to someone at school about this problem. A teacher or Principal ? I am hopeless at putting photos on line too.

Brandy Rose or Belle can help with photos. They are brilliant. I can't wait to see a photo of the new grandchild.

Hey,Mith sorry you are missing your hubby. Well, I hope everything works out with your remodeling. Just one more year Mith until ALEP . The countdown starts today.

cirdaneth I am so glad that you are feeling better. I am amazed at your knowledge of computers. I want to learn more about them . You are my inspiration.

Rose as you fly over southeast Mo. could you dip your wings? I know you must be getting so excited. I loved your birthday graphics. Have a safe journey .

I had a difficult time getting on yesterday but it was fixed by lunch time. I don't know what I would have done with out my daily fix to FOF and COE.

Swabby, I am glad your son was not with them joy riders as you call them. About five years ago we had a ice storm in February and school was out early. Two boys went driving and they were driving to fast and the driver was killed. His sister found him. So, I think you are wise indeed. Our children are to precious to lose.

Morwin, I am glad you had a good trip and enjoyed your visit to Spain. Glad you are back though.

Dimple , well I guess my grandchildren are more like Elves. They are almost taller than than me now. I am so glad we have animal lovers on here because some people just don't understand how difficult it is to lose a pet or in my case a member of my family.

Scots I hope your parent teacher conferences went well. I know you are so happy to finally get your kitchen finished. Have great fun with the FOF friends.

Celebrian we could use dragons to ride on or eagles to get around Mith's castle . I would like to visit your place too. Have a great day.

My son had a homework assignment. He did a interview over the phone with me. The theme was How technology has changed my life. He asked me if he could interview me. He is a 33 year old college student and I felt honored. But one thing he mentioned was how important my computer was to me and how I talked to me friends on line about LOTR and the location of those friends. I stated I never thought as a child that I would talk to people in other states let alone countries but here I am talking to people in Finland and England and Canada. Well, I am rambling but FOF you are mentioned in my son's homework assignment

Hello everyone. I hope you are all enjoying a good day.

I am still floating in utter bliss afetr the fabulous concert by loreena McKennitt in our auditorium last night. Absolutely incredible. She and her talented musicians painted pictures with music - desert sands, the Gates of Istanbul, a sea-side cliff off the coast of Ireland, the inn where the Highwayman's sweetheart waited for him............ The quality of the music was superb. Hearing instruments real, live and direct is so much more powerful , especially when you can see the players. Her accomapnists played cello, Greek lyre, bodhran, bongos, tabla, a hurdy-gurdy, a bouzouki (a celtic bouzouki, no less) and she played her marvelous harp and a piano.

We were transported, in joy, in sorrow, in awe. *sigh* I need a cigarette now.

Congratulations and big hug  to Brandy on the safe arrival of Kenyan. what a lovely name. Enjoy, Gramma.

Awelyn I hope the vet figures out what your doggie needs.

Arienell I hope that your new diagnosis will lead to the right treatment and a full recovery. :angels: prayers for you.

Mith Happy Belated Birthday. May the blessings of a thousand Elves be upon you.

Morwin Welcome back.

Off to work now. time is too short to chat with you all. Perhaps later.

Brandy, if you want to post a photo of your grandson in the CoE gallery, just go to the Submit Media page in the Gallery, and follow the instructions. At the moment, I've even got time to resize the picture for you if necessary (which, sadly, wasn't the case when Belle's granddaughter was born ).

Mith, I do some work related travelling, but mostly domestic trips - meetings in other cities and such. This was only my second trip abroad in the ten years I've been in this job.

Neenime, sounds like a great concert!

Swabby, sounds like your son has learned a valuable lesson by way of his friends. I hope they all recover quickly but don't forget what they did.

Cirdaneth, I'm glad you're getting better. (I, too, am awed by your computer skills!) It's nice t know someone else likes the Belgian detective!

Neenime, the concert sounds wonderful! I've never seen a live performance of that kind. I probably wouldn't have even known the proper names for all those instruments but it's nice to know there are people still keeping them "alive."

Morwin, you have a great job if it takes you to places like that!

Awelyn, I know what you mean about the Internet. I really enjoy being able to talk with people all around the world as well. I sometimes think that if enough people got online and really got to know each other the whole world would be a better place. It must have made you proud to know that your grown son was interested in your activities.

Okay, this just made me laugh too hard. Sadly enough, I actually did something very similar to this when I was 5. *one skeleton out of the closet*

Why Parents Drink
A boss wondered one day why one of his absent and most
valued employees had not phoned in. Having an urgent
problem with one of the main computers, he dialed the
employee's home phone number and was greeted with a
child's whisper, "Hello?”

"Is your daddy home?" he asked. “Yes," whispered the small voice.
May I talk with him?" The child whispered, “No.”

Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss
asked, "Is your Mommy there?" “Yes.”
"May I talk with her? Again the small voice whispered, “No.”

Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a
message, the boss asked, "Is anybody else there?"
“Yes," whispered the child, “a policeman ".

Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's
home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?"
" No, he's busy ", whispered the child. "Busy doing what?"
“Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman," came
the whispered answer.

Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the
background through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked,
"What is that noise?"; “A helicopter " answered the whispering voice.

"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly
apprehensive. Again, whispering, the child answered, “The search
team just landed a helicopter.”

Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked, "What are they
searching for?"

Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle... "ME.”

Arienelle, my heart goes out to you and your son. Other children can be so cruel and not always realizing how they are hurting someone else. May God give you strength to help him through the difficult times. You sound like such a caring and loving mom. It is difficult to see our children suffer in any way.

We should start a countdown on days until ALEP, Awelyn. What say you, MT? The anticipation is fun. I'm so excited and looking forward to it but yet have to come up with a costume or two so I am glad to have a bit of time to prepare.

The blessings of a thousand elves...how magnificent that is, Neenime, thank you! Guess I will have lots of sharing to do. Glad you enjoyed the concert and it was interesting to hear about it. I'm not even sure what a couple of the instruments were that you mentioned. But it sounds like you know quite a bit about those things. It is interesting and fun to learn about new things like that.

Hubby just called and said some really sweet things. Sometimes it does a soul good to hear things we know to be true but hearing them spoken aloud seems to confirm their truth. Thank God for cell phones...guess we would need those as well in Minas Tirith.

It was nice and hot here today. Like an extended summer, I love it. I like wearing shorts as long as the weather doesn't get too cold. I seldom "dress up" these days. Comfortable, cool, soft, those are top choices in apparel these days.

Well I had better get on with my evening exercises. I really enjoy the floor work and put on a favorite DVD while doing them. Just fun and good for the flexibility and aches and pains of the aging body.

Happy hump day to you all. Love and hugs.

Awww Brandy, congratulations...and what a gorgeous name! Cant wait to see a photo. You must be absolutely on cloud nine right now.
Cirdaneth I am glad you are feeling better. I cannot believe how brave you are with your PC. I will clean mine up and such but could not do all you did to yours. You do seem like the type to just take the bull by the horns, and I think its fantastic.
So sorry I am late with birthday wishes for you Mith. May the light of Elendil light your way for a good, safe and happy year ahead.
I, too mentioned the Baggins'ses birthday on the 22nd,Scots, and my family responded in much the same way yours did. And we shall all await the photo of the new counter tops.
Neenime, good on you for leaving the message on the message board. No doubt you lifted the spirits of any Tolkienite that may have read it. Oooh, the concert sounded lovely. I love live music...it is so powerful to the soul.
And still on hobbit day...what a nice thing to re read 'The Hobbit' starting that day, Dimple.
It's so good to see you pop in HT. Hows the new PC?
Vicarcat, we have missed you. The hard work will all be worth it when you comfortably sit back and feel like you have truly made your new home 'your own'.
Virtuelle I am so envious of you lot going to ALEP. I hope you are able to go though, as it sounds like grand fun. So good that some more fof'ers will be meeting up.
Awelyn I am happy to hear your doggie doesnt have diabetes. It could be anything so keep the faith. Maybe the vet will find out and it can be remedied easily. I am so glad too that there are pet lovers here. Cocoa is my baby and he will have to have his teeth cleaned again soon, which doesnt sound bad but he had a hard time last time, as he gets ill with the anesthetic. I brush them but not every day because time has really been an issue for me. Thankfully the new job will give me more time at home. His arthritis is getting worse too and to see him slow down on our walks just fills me with sadness. His doctor is going to do blood tests, just standard ones, to check he is alright to start a medicine regime to help the arthritis.
Loved your poem Swabby. Your son will one day thank you for your wisdom to keep him away from the 'wrong group'.
MT...a castles tour!! Oh, how fun would that be! I absolutely cant spend enough time in castles. Its not enough to just look around in them, but I like to let my thoughts go back and imagine living there back in the ages, and to relive the battles that took place there as well as the good times...stories around the old tables with a nice goblet of fine ale...
Oh, and I love summer best too. running around carefree with more time for your self. The warm sun flickering on you as you lie beneath a nice shade tree watching the puffy clouds form different things above you. The forests alive with butterflies and other wildlife. The sound of a cool stream flowing through the quiet of a secret haven of forest and hills. Ahh, the elven side of me could just live in that environment forever.
Ok , back to reality.
Celebrian I agree the world could probably get on much better if more people would communicate with each other, and not just listen to their leaders or what is 'thought' to be how other people and countries are like.
Good you had some time to look around in Barcelona Morwin. Any time to see and experience another place is magic.
Rose you must be preparing those dragon wings by now. Have a safe flight.
Yes, having a diagnosis is half the battle, Arienelle. Hope your son will recover soon. As for your other son, you have my bow as well. Bratty orcses bullies. If we could only wrap our kids in a magic elven cloak that would protect them from being seen by the bullies, or send them on their way with an elven warrior by their side. Since hes home from school at the moment, perhaps its a good time to sit with him and watch a fine film about how the little guy carries a heavy burden and wins out over bad orcses and things and perserveres through good and courage.
Hello to all I havent mentioned and I do thank you all for the congrats on my new job.
In case you havent noticed..its almost time for the new season of 'Robin Hood' on the telly. YAY! I just have something for fine looking men (and elves) out in the forests with bows and arrows, dont I??
Oh, Awelyn, my grandbaby is due on 5th March.

Congrats Brandy! Kenyan is a lovely middle name. My Calar's middle name was Kenyon (with an o) that being his mother's sirname. I suppose in Sindarin it would be Cenion from the root Cenn- to see. Oooh that means Calar's name is Lamp Son-of-Seeing. May your new grandbaby also shed light on the world around.

Thank you for my lovely e-card, Mith. I'm still stuck indoors, but at least feeling well enough to get a few things done. I'll need to get into town on Friday to get a new mouse. My poor old mouse is still limping across the mouse-mat despite my efforts with glucosamine, Ibuleve spray, heated wheat-packs etc (only joking). I think I'll just get a whole new cordless desk-top.

I'm not sure about the benefits of a ranger with healing hands. My temperature was quite high enough already! Actually I've just spotted a very handsome DCI (Detective Chief Inspector) in one of my old Miss Marple DVDs. (A MUrder Has Been Anounced). His sidekick is played by Kevin Whately who ended up as sidekick Lewis in the Morse series. Anyway the DCI has old-fashioned film-star qualities and a smouldering gaze. I wouldn't mind a bit of attention from someone like that, but wouldn't want responsibility for the crisp white shirts.

My apparent skill with computers is 90% bull**** and 10% experience. I had my first one more than 20 years ago when you had to do all the commands in DOS ... in fact my first one didn't even have DOS ... it was CPM, green screen, text only with a whole half a megabyte of memory. It scared me to death at first. It cost over 500GBP too ... and look what you can get for that money now!

Right! off to do some more ironing and maybe later I'll work on pruning and combining some old threads on the Books Forum.

I'm sorry I missed your birthday, Mith. You were 39 weren't you?

Now what's this about a smouldering gaze, Cirdaneth?

Calle, if you're grandbaby arrives one day earlier than scheduled (March 4) we'll have the same birthday!

My son is all wound up over the new Halo 3 game that just came out. He's not happy that he pre-ordered one, paid for special fast shipping and it's not scheduled to arrive by mail until tomorrow but he could have bought one at Walmart yesterday. I told him "Patience, Grasshopper"
They had a "fiesta" in his Spanish class yesterday and he took some home-made tortillas that I mixed up, rolled out, and he cooked. He said he only got to eat one of them.

Who was talking about "bad people?" One thing's for sure---there's no shortage of them around here. There have been some instances in my life when I was a bad person. Looking back at me, I can see it and it makes me want to hide my face. I think sometimes we know we're being bad and sometimes we don't. Is there a solution?

I must cook a birthday supper for my son's girlfriend today. She likes chicken, so I think I'll make my chicken and rice with broccoli.

Now where are those very entertaining gals at today? Yoohoo Arienelle, MT, Dimple, Rose, HT, Sindy, etc, etc. You know who you are! Have a great Wednesday! Swabby

AWELYN:Yes technology is amasing.Talking to people all over the world and making friends with them, who would have thought that 50 years ago?It would be nice if this technology helps to have a better world. Your son has a great homework assignment, and also it's super nice to be mentioned

Suilad all,

Beth, hail and well met.

Happy birthday, Mith! And many more!

Congrats, Grandma-ma Brandywine!

Scots, hope the conferences went well. I often think that if only I could wear Anduril on a daily basis and slide it out to lay on the table at parent conferences and association meetings and the like, I would be spared wasting moments of my life on unimportant things!

In celebrating Bilbo's birthday, I was out sharing a flask of miruvor with a pair of elf lords and came up with a wonderful idea! I think I have a likely bunch of young elflings in my Honors section this year. Quite worthy and showing their quality already! I am going to teach Fellowship! I have collected enough copies at the half-price books stores and now I'm developing my plan. Any input would be welcomed!

It fits in wonderfully with my theme of journey (9th grade, The Odyssey, etc.) and I think I'm going to begin with an intro to the Valar (since they will have finished up Greek mythology). I'm going to show the National Geo video on heroes (I think it came with TT) and discuss reluctant heroes---Frodo, of course, and Aragorn....and they'll see the clips from the movie showing the forging of the ring, Elrond and Isildur at the Cracks of Doom, Smeagol killing Deagol, and Bilbo finding the ring.
(Can you tell I'm obsessed already????)

Awelyn, when is ALEP? Am I confused? I thought it was last weekend and mourning not being able to attend...damn football games! DO I have a whole year to make my plans or is it an annual event?

The Cincinnati Symphony is doing LOTR this weekend but the DH is off to visit MIL in the nursing home. I'd love to go but don't want to go alone....I never have learned DT Cincy very well...Now if it were in Columbus, I'd buzz up there without a thought.

I also need to go see Viggo. That I can do alone. Actually, it might be better for the DH's ego if I go alone.

Hugs for all and a big kiss for Swabby!

Sindy

Yes, Sindy you have a whole year to plan ALEP is in 2008. You need to registered then pay your registration fee to hold you a spot and then pay then rest as late as August of 2008. I wish you could come. That is so exciting what you plan to do in your class. Do you need an observer Where were teachers like you when I was in school.

Celebrian I love those grandchildren visits but then I am so tired when they leave. I understand the being tired. It did make me proud to know my son was interested in my life.

Dimple yes it is amazing to talk to people all over the world. I was in awe the first year I was on my computer. In the summer I would stay on for hours talking to people and looking up information that was made available to me because of my computer.

Calle I am so glad to read your posts . I have missed you. I knew you were a animal lover and your Cocoa sounds precious. It is sad when they get older. You can't stop that aging process. Are you enjoying your new job? I loved the alphabet site. I did every letter. It was cool. My new grand baby is due February 20th but the doctor said it could be a valentines baby.

Swabby your chicken and rice dish sounded delicious . Do you cater? You are such a caring man. I bet your son really appreciates you. Have you had rain? It rained here in Southeast Mo. yesterday and it smells so good outside. You know clean and fresh. I love how it smells after it rains.

Cirdaneth, I am so glad you are feeling better. When I started college in my forties they started us on computers that had DOS. I was scared to death I would break them. I am glad to say I have not broke a computer yet. Have a good day.

Mith, depending what you are going to be. I myself think you would make a lovely Elf or a shield maiden but you have to have at least one Hobbit costume for the party. Now when they have out Halloween costumes would be a good time to look. I have a calendar I don't use that I keep at work in my desk. Well, yesterday it started to be my ALEP countdown calendar.

Scots that was hilarious and you did something like that when you were a little girl? Oh you were a little stinker.

Hi Vicar Cat I look forward to your post Thursday.

Morwin hello.

Neenime I can't believe there is a instrument called a hurdy-gurdy. So, I guess in that oldies song there was a real hurdy-gurdy man. What do they look like? It did sound like a truly inspirational concert for you. I love the cello and I know bongos and Greek Lyre but the rest of the instruments I have never seen them. I will have to look that up on my computer.

Have a great Thursday every one.

SINDY:What a wonderful idea!Good luck with your plan. I would love to be in your class, can I go, please, pleaaaaaase?
Yeah for obssession

AWELYNon"t mind me for asking, maybe I didn't pay attention but what is ALEP?

NEENIME:Your description of Loreena's concert sounded comes from another world, she is an exceptional artist and I like her very much too.You seem very knowledgeable about those music instruments.Do you play yourself some kind of instruments? Or maybe you collect them?

No gardening again today, it looks as if it's

going to rain any minute now.I talked to my daughter yesterday and she likes her classes very much. She thinks there is one professor who might have a little thing for Tolkien. He said that the students who make to many grammatical mistakes when they write must have studied in the ''gollum's grammar"".I thought it was funny
Have a good thursday,all

Like Sindy, just a quick fly by. Testing the old wings. Lol

Magoleth and I take to the air on October 9, so another week + yet.

That's was funny, scots.

Now spooky or what!! Scots posted that, and today in the local rag there was a story about a wee boy of 5 years, who went missing. After more hours than his parents wanted to contemplate, the police came with snifferdogs and found the little rascal. He was a asleep right underneath his bed, where noone could see him.

I bet his mom and dad were beside themselves. Can you imagine .... you would want to shake him and hug him all at once. Lol!!

Hugs to everyone.

*spreads wings, wheels right and catches the next thermal*

Dimple, did you tuck those flowers in and kiss them goodnight?

Speaking of kisses, wow Sindy! What can an old sea dog like me say when kissed by a beautiful english teacher like you other than "I like it, give me more!".

We got a lot of rain yesterday, Awelyn, but today it's dry so far. The temperatures have dropped a little, too, which makes me glad.

I must run. Spouse called and said they're short of desserts at her company cookout. Pie delivery-man to the rescue! (One will just fit in my bike's little trunk) Swabby

Dimple I don't mind you asking at all. ALEP=A Long Expected Party. Go to this website www.alongexpectedparty.org and get information. In a nutshell it is a party for Frodo and Bilbo and it is September of 2008. It is being held in Kentucky in the USA and the good news is you are invited. So just look it up and find out more about it.

Swabby it is raining here today off and on and the temperature is 67 degrees F. I don't know what that is in Celsius maybe 25? Help me out here friends that use Celsius.

Rose have a great flight and a wonderful time. Even though I won't be seeing you. I welcome you to The United States. It is not every day that I can welcome a dragon to my country.
